today, we skied.

The older boys had the day off school. The little ones did not. What’s a mom to do with a 10 year old and an 8 year old on a random january monday? Hang out on the mountain and ski, that’s what.

We’ve been up skiing as a family a handful of times, but this was the first for just a mom + boys ski day.

SO MUCH FUN.

It’s strange and wonderful all at once to be in this new phase of parenting. I went skiing with my children. Not to library storytime or the bouncy house or the zoo, but skiing. On a mountain. In less-than-ideal-icy-snow conditions. And they did awesome (minus that one run-in with the tree as seen above). These boys are great. I’m happy to be their mom.

That’s exactly what I do on Monday nights (last night too) with my son! Skiing on the Mountain. We live 10 minutes away from a skii area. Happy Skiing!

Loved the collage and pictures of skiing with your boys!
Brought many a memory back into my heart . . .

What fun. So great you can just pick up and go during the day.

I know that we live in the same area and am wondering where you skied. We’d like to take our kids skiing but the lack of snow has us a bit worried.

We went to Crystal and the snow was terrible! Still fun, but very bare and icy. It is supposed to snow up there this week and then it should be great. They have a good small hill where kids can learn and lift tickets for kids 10 and under is only $5. You should try it!

Ahh gotta love that Cascade concrete! Were you at Stevens? I have fond memories of ski school there all through Jr High. It’s so fun when you look up from the trenches of parenting and realize that these kids are turning into real people and people you like and want to spend time with! Have a good week and GO HAWKS!!!

Stevens is good and so is Crystal. They both offer ski schools and rentals on the mountain I would go with whichever one has better snow or is closer to you.

We went to Crystal – it is fairly close to our house and so pretty. Poor mountain was nearly bare! We need snow!

Ahh. This is just what I needed to hear. I have 3 boys and a fresh baby girl (8 mo), and it’s hard to accept that we are done. The next phase of parenting seems scary and so exciting all at the same time, and my emotions are all over the place. Having babies is all I’ve known, so letting go of that stage and moving on is a little difficult. This was just what I needed to read today. Thank you for sharing, and boosting my confidence that adventures await with my growing kids :)
