    . . . . . . . .

My babes are getting buckets this year for easter.

I found the galvanized buckets at ikea for $1.99 each and then added a sticker to each to identify whose is whose {or is it who’s is whose? Oh, why is the english language so complicated}.

My mom was always so great about making holidays special : and I’m trying to follow in her footsteps. This is my attempt to put together a fun easter bucket for my kiddos.

A home-made bunny, personalized booklet {tutorial to come}, colored pencils and lots of sugar.

    In the little girl’s:

    no 4

    no 4 again

A girlie version of the bunny, an easter board book, booklet {for all the drawing a one year old does}, some embellished mary janes and a peep.

    shoes

Suede flowers stitched to Old Navy shoes.

    peep

My baby is lucking out this year and getting her own bunny peep.

The bunnies were made using this pattern and were very simple to make.

After making the first one, I altered the pattern a bit. I made the head a bit rounder and elongated the legs. I also embroidered the face before stitching the bunny together {since I couldn’t figure out how to hide the knots once the little guy was sewn shut}.

While I totally get that Easter is not all about bunnies and jelly beans and peeps, I always enjoy giving my kiddos little gifts : they are pretty sweet!

    1. Love the bunnies!! I really need to get myself a sewing machine. I’m on your blog almost every night (that sounds a little creepy, but I really just LOVE your style and am so inspired to create after I read your posts). Thanks for another wonderful idea. Have a blessed Easter with your family :)

    2. I got three cute little bunnies made for Easter! One for my daughter and one for each of my second cousins! I can’t wait until Easter to give them to them! Thank you for the lovely idea as I am quickly starting to think that homemade gifts are the very best! :-)

    3. I love your labels. I have always used buckets for my boys. I don’t know why, except when I went to look for a basket for my oldest (a boy) all the baskets looked frilly and girly. So I bought an enameled bucket and we’ve stuck with it. I love it and so do my boys. I hope your kids like their beautiful buckets. :)

    4. I’m in love with the shoes… I love that you customize store bought products and makethem unique. I also am so excited about the bunny. I am really thankful that you provide where you get your patterns from to help educate all of us that are interested in checking them out. I made a set of burp cloths for my soon-to-arrive nice and can’t wait to send you a picture :)

    5. My mom always made the holidays really special too so I am trying to carry on that same tradition for my son. I’ve been collecting Easter goodies for him for the last month but when I saw these bunnies I knew I had to make one! The best thing about this prject is I already had all the supplies right here so I could start on it right away – I love it when that happens! I almost done. Will finish the face and stuffing tomorrow. Thanks for the idea – love it!!
P.S. So jealous of the winner. This was my favorite giveaway of yours yet. Can you tell us when the tote came from??

    6. love it! so creative. i love to make holidays special for my kids… it’s what brings the cherished memories. i would love to make these bunnies… my twins would love them. do you have a pattern or tutorial. i know i could draw it, but have never made a doll or stuffed animal, so it would make the process much easier to know the steps. trial and error can be so frustrating in a time crunch. thanks for sharing your talents!! if you have a pattern you used, or have a tutorial, i would love to buy one.

    7. Such an easy and adorable idea Emily! I wish I had thought of this when my kids were young. Now I am stuck using the baskets they have has since they were little. There would be a mutiny if I tried to change now. These will look even better as they age. Love it!

    8. Ohh how I love those little bunnies.. I only wish I could make something like that… just got a sewing machine and never sewed anything in my life… I actually may find this difficult… could a beginner like me pull something like this off???

    9. So cute! Love the buckets.

Grammar tip: “who’s” is always a contraction (who is, who has…) while “whose” is possessive (so it’s “whose is whose” because there are no contractions in there). The same is true for “it’s” and “its.” You’re welcome for bringing the fun to the comment party!

    10. Very cute!! I was thinking of going in the same direction with my son’s basket…sweet and simple, not full of candy….sadly though I can’t sew so I am out of luck with the super cute bunnies!! {ps: do you have to have a facebook to enter the giveway with the new set up you have, cuz I am one of the 5 people in the world that don’t have a fb. haha!} thanks.
      God Bless!! xo Elizabeth

    11. Can I be one of your kids for Easter? Except the shoes need to be about 18 sizes bigger. I love the bunnies though! And I thought the only thing a 1 year old colored on was walls. My kids must have missed that whole “color on paper” stage.

    12. I just love these little buckets. I still remember my favorite doll growing up was a ballerina that my mom made for me. You have inspired me to get sewing for my own little girl!

    13. Cutest little easter buckets ever!! Are the little suede flowers a tutorial you have? They don’t look like any I have seen you make! They are adorable and of course I want to make them now. =) Happy Easter!

    14. your children are going to grow up to be so wonderfully creative. i love those bunnies! might just have to try to whip one up for my daughter! not before easter though :)

love the idea of clipping a flower on the shoes. elle louise has that exact same pair, but in red, and i was wondering how to “spring/summer” them up some! great idea!! thanks for sharing all your awesomeness!

    15. My mother always personalized our Easter baskets and I followed in her footsteps with my daughter when she was little. Now, my grandson is a teenager, but my heart is longing to make one of those adorable bunnies…. maybe the Easter bunny will have to visit me!!!!

    16. Cute baskets. I love the bunnies in the suiting fabric – very dapper. My kids are grown and I still like putting together Easter baskets for them. Or at least Easter treats.

    17. After reading your blog for a few months now, I have no doubt that your household primarily focuses on the religious events of Easter. We do, too! But it’s also exciting to have the Easter bunny leave some treats … and then head off to church on a chocolate high! :) Happy Easter!

    18. congrats to the winner! i really wanted to win this one :( oh well. i love the bunnies you made Emily!!! i think i wanna make them for my girls……if only i have the time to do it before Easter! i love how you take something so simple (the little shoes) and turn it into something beautiful! you are so creative, and i wish i was able to take on as many wonderful things as you do!

    19. How wonderful does it feel to have your Easter baskets ready a whole week early?! Those bunnies are perfect cuteness, and I can just imagine the great pictures you will get with your little ones carrying around their little egg pails. So sweet!

    20. Very cute baskets! I use some anodized tin baskets I found when my oldest was a baby. One gets the blue tin and the other the green. I have an extra in pink – that didn’t work out so much. It is fun to put the baskets together. Our’s are on the small side as well – and they always get a book or two. The bunnies you made are so adorable! Oh – and the shoes, precious!
