On a side note, thank you to all of you who have already signed up for the
I have received so many sweet emails from you. It has been fun to hear your hearts and dreams about starting your own creative business {as well as your questions and concerns} and I’m getting very excited about this upcoming event!
Every single email made me realize more and more that we’re all in the same boat: we want to live creative, passionate lives doing what we love to do {and making some money while we’re at it}. Let me share a couple of comments that I think you may identify with:
I’m quite excited to learn all about this little workshop…I have also always had a secret dream to stay home and do something creative that I love like you are so lucky to do. I’m already signed up for the “early bird,” so thanks in advance because I know its going to be great! – Lauren
I feel like I have a story kinda similar to yours – I’m about to have my second baby (only 8 more weeks – YIPPEE!!) – and we’ve decided that I’m going to stay at home with the kiddos – however I’m creative – and would love to still be able to "contribute" to the family budget – even if it’s not a lot!
I make things for family and friends now – but i’d really love to grow what I do into more of an actual "business". I guess more than anything I just want to know how you got started – how you managed to find time to spend with the Lord, your little ones, your husband – and still found time to create and grow a business. Did you have a schedule that really worked for you?? And how did you get your name/business out there???
I’d also love to know if you have any suggestions on how to keep your costs down… I love to create things – however by the time I make all the little runs to [the craft store] and the time I put into my project I feel like I’m not making very much money – half the time my husband jokes that I’m basically just giving my work away – any tricks on how to actually MAKE a profit would be great too.
Thank you so much for doing this workshop – I’m REALLY looking forward to it!!!!
– Katie
This is perfect timing for this workshop b/c I’m in the process of creating a business right now. One of my biggest questions is about building a website. My creativity comes to a complete stop when I have to speak javascript!!! Can you give any insight or recommendations for building a website that won’t take every penny of your very small, business loan? – Jane
So, Lauren, Katie & Jane and the rest of you darling ladies I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much we’ll cover in the workshop and how practical the information & tools will be. Oooh, I can’t wait!
Details are still forthcoming {what a fancy word}, but if you’d like to be on the early bird email list, please sign up below.

Just thought I’d share a source for one of those photos…the LOVELY nursery with the birds on the ceiling can be found on Ohdeedoh at {http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/nursery-tours/nursery-tour-no-grey-skies-for-mallory-gray-097144}. Though I don’t know that actual family personally, I know someone that does…they actually live in my town. I just thought that was cool:)
And thanks for including my comment! I am REALLY looking forward to the workshop. I’m just about to start my last year of nursing school in addition to having a two-year-old and a hubby making a career change too, so having a creative outlet is a MAJOR stress reliever for me. But I feel like I need a little more focus in this area, so I’m excited to see what will come of all this:)

Wow, what wonderful stripey inspiration. I’m currently trying to come up with a stripe pattern in my entry way but so thank you for the ideas!
Renae
I love stripes also and am planning on them in our hallway and my son’s room. What I’m struggling with is the width. Is 12″ an easy out? If you have opinions on widths, I’d love to hear them! Thanks!

Love all the stripes. What great photos. I am just way too impatient to paint them.
P.S. Love the workshop idea. We’re doing a design workshop next month as well. http://atmosphereid.wordpress.com/2010/08/19/youre-invited/

Me too, me too! The closest I’ve gotten so far is striped bath towels. They didn’t squelch the thirst though. I’m debating between painting our dining area walls or creating long striped window treatments for our living room. Right now painting seems more doable.

So I was looking at this post without seeing who’s it was and thought……Em would totally love this post. Until I got to the bottom and realized it was YOURS. I am such a dork sometimes. I loved some of those room alot! Sooo cute!

I never tire of stripes and have an assortment of them in our home. I’ve used a lot of blk & white stripes and also painted one wall in my daughter Em’s bedroom with two shades of beige. Faint but makes a good statement. All of your examples of using them in your design scheme were tremendous & inspiring. Hoping you had a great weekend Emily?! ~ deb

Thank you for sharing these wonderfuls ideas. There are many things in each picture to inspire. I hadn’t really thought about ‘stripes’ as a decorating idea. But now I am!

How funny! I was just picking out paint yesterday to do some stripes in my home! I can’t wait! Now if I could only decide on a paint color!
