enjoying the lovliness of nature
It’s instafriday on Life Rearranged and so I thought I’d link up once again.
I have had my iphone for just about two months now and I’m pretty much in love. Mostly because the camera is so. darn. good. And super easy. It is fun to snap photos in an instant of things that catch my eye.
What catches my eye the most lately is the amazing show that the springtime in the pacific northwest is putting on for us. I suppose this happens every year, but as I get older, I appreciate the beauty of nature so much more.
Here are some of my favorites taken this week:
{amazingly ruffled tulip}
{euphorbia – one of my favorite perenials}
{pansy}
{lupin}
{cherry blossoms}
{pretty purple flowers – not sure what they are}
{gorgeous peony in k.c.’s yard}
{lilac. I could breath in the scent of lilac all day long}
{ladies mantle – another favorite. How amazing are those water droplets?}
Around here, perhaps the most breathtaking sight is this:
On a clear day, there is nothing more majestic than our Mt. Rainier.
What the NW lacks in awesome weather, it sure makes up for in natural beauty.
Want to see more?
I promise I post more than just nature shots.

Love these, so detailed and saturated. I think the unnamed purple flower is columbine?

Good grief that camera (and you) take great photos! The flowers are all beautiful. Enjoy the beauty of your area, and thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.

The purple flowers you weren’t sure about look like columbine.

Wow!! Trying very hard not to be jealous of your beautiful surroundings! Great shots! I love my iphone, too. There is a really fun video ap that gives the look that you get with stills from Instagram. It’s called 8mm. You should check it out. You can video from your phone, giving all kinds of looks that come from the 50′s and 60′s.

Emily, those pretty unidentified purple flowers are Columbines. They grow wild all over Colorado, and I had never seen them until moving here. They come in a rainbow of colors and are so fancy! ha ha
Now that you’re in love with you iPhone’s camera and Instagram, do you know about PicFrame? It’s one of the best apps for making Instagram-sized collages with your photos.

Beautiful, beautiful pictures, Emily! Those are incredible! I just got an iPhone too and can’t get over the camera quality! And your area is seriously beautiful – I’ve always wanted to go out west and this makes me really want it

Beautiful! My grandmother lived in Vancouver. Growing up we would visit once a year ( I grew up near New Orleans–opposite climate). When we stepped off the plane, the air smelled fresh and I could finally really breath:) Your pics remind me of her yard–it was like a botanical garden. Brings back great memories.

i live in a relatively close corner of the world to you, on vancouver island, and i definitely second your colorado reader, the purple flowers are columbine. they self seed, and spread around the garden well. when i first saw the snowy mountain pic, i thought it was mt baker, which i can see when i look across the straight on a clear day. cheers!

Love that picture of Mt. Rainier!! I live in Kent and am always amazed at the fact that I get to see it everywhere I go around my neighborhood. How lucky we are indeed!
How nice was this beautiful spring weather, by the way?!
Katherine
Those purple flowers are Aquilegia. I have them in my garden in pink and purple colours. They self-seed all over but I don’t care because they’re beautiful!

I’m on the dry side in the PNW … we don’t have all of the pretty flowers, but we do have mountains and blue skies … and COLD springtimes. We had snow on May 4. I think each locale gets its beauty in different ways.
Your photos are lovely and remind me of my college days on the rainy side.

Nice SHOUT OUT about our beautiful PacNWest, sweet Emily!
Warm Spring day wishes to you and your family!

I always get excited when I {finally} discover that a blog I love is written by a fellow PAC NW’ter. We may have rain, but the results of it are just unbelievably gorgeous. Love these springtime photos. Thanks for sharing.

That purple flower is Columbine and grows really great up here in Alaska. I am planting some this year!

Emily,
Love your photos. Especially of Mount Ranier – spent some time hiking it in years past. What a blessing your blog is to me – thank you for your inspiration.
Please check out my latest “nature” post on my blog:

I also post a lot about organizing the home – would love for you to stop by.
Thanks,

These are beautiful and if you hadn’t said they were taken with the iPhone I wouldn’t have believed it. Now I need to try that camera out, I only got my phone a few months ago too!!! My college roommate moved out that way, just around Mt. Ranier and loved it! I can see why!

Emily these pics are GORGEOUS!!! I can almost smell the fragrance of the flowers:) I just created a folder in my computer and saved them. My thoughts are when I use my Copic markers to color a tulip, pansy, etc., I can pull up on of your photos and get some “help” with my shading and highlighting. Thanks for sharing the beauty in your part of the country.
Allana
your “pretty purple flowers” are Columbine. They grow wild in the canadian rocky mountains in a sort of orange red colour, with a slightly smaller flower, and are available for flower gardens etc in a range of pink-blue similar to yours! Love them
Allana
and I should have read the comments.. about 4 other people already told you about the Columbine! haha.. at least we all enjoy them
Ps. that TULIP is fab!

That picture of Mt. Rainer looks like 410! Everytime I am up north I always try and take a picture right there on my way to Bonney Lake. It’s so breath taking! I cannot wait to make Seattle my home one day.
Hayden
My in-laws live in Port Orchard, and I can tell you that my heart is in Seattle! It is the most unique and beautiful place that I’ve ever been!!! My husband and I hope to live there someday when we get through residency! It’s absolutely breathtaking! I am always taken aback when I see Mount Rainier. Every year it’s just as big, just as beautiful, just as majestic!!!
kenora
LOVE your picture of Mt. Rainier! My mom grew up at its base (Carbonado/Buckley) and her ashes now reside there. When we visit Washington (I live in Alaska) and the Mountain is “out” (not covered in clouds) we always say, “Hi, Mom!” Almost said that when scrolling down your pictures! Thanks! =]
Christi
That shot of the water droplets is just awesome!

Love your photos! I live in Seattle and completely agree about Mt. Rainier…such a beautiul reminder of how lucky we are to live in the Pacific Northwest!
