The very best Christmas gift I ever received as a child was when I was two years old and my little sister and best friend was born!

  5. Shannon Stinson December 5, 2011 at 8:45 am #

The gift I remember most was a Barbie I received when I was 7. It was the Christmas my parents were struggling and there wouldn’t be many gifts that year, but someone at a local charity decided that my 3 sisters and I would receive a large bag of gifts that year. Inside was the Barbie. It to this day is a reminder of how God always provides.
Love the Land of Nod. By the way we bought my daughter the Melissa and Doug cookie set, it is the cutest thing ever and has brought a lot of joy to my daughter.

My parents got me a dollhouse that we painted, wallpapered, carpeted, and furnished together. It is an heirloom I can’t wait to pass on to my daughters.

My most memorable gift as a kid was a ten speed bike. I will never forget that Christmas…I knew my mom worked so hard to get my sister and I bikes…her-purple and me, pink. We rode them nonstop!!

    Fun giveaway, thanks for hosting!

  9. Amy Swanson December 4, 2011 at 11:34 pm #

My favorite Christmas present were always books. I loved reading in high school and a stack of thick books were always my preference. :)

  10. Katy December 4, 2011 at 10:45 pm #

Definately the best gift I got was the love for giving that I learned from my parents. It was so fun and so memorable to pick a child off the Salvation Army angel tree and shop for a child. It just wasn’t Christmas unless we were doing a little act of service for someone. Since then, I’ve learned what happiness comes when you give and as funny as it sounds, I do it for “selfish” reasons – for that wonderful high you feel when not concentrating on your own problems and thinking of others.

In tune with ‘giving’, if I win I’d love to offer it as a giveaway on my blog to raise money for a non-profit orphan charity that helps children with special needs find homes & families – Reece’s Rainbow. My kids have plenty of toys. They are well-blessed! The greatest gift would be to help these children (particularly the specific angel I’m raising money for) get out of the orphanages and institutions and find loving homes they deserve!

Hmmm…this is a hard one because I mainly remember the time with family, but not so much the gifts. Maybe I should try to remember that when Christmas shopping for my own kids. :)
I do remember a Barbie Shower that was pretty special!

  12. Karlee December 4, 2011 at 10:18 pm #

A hair crimper! Do you remember these? Oh my, what fun my sister and I had and how amazing I’m sure we looked.

  13. Erin December 4, 2011 at 10:18 pm #

My favorite gift was the box set of Little House on the Prairie books I received from Santa when I was 7. Read the entire set that Christmas and opened a whole new world of reading.

  14. Adrianna December 4, 2011 at 9:48 pm #

Gorgeous twin dolls. My grandparents gave me one doll one year, then forgot and gave me the same doll the next year. I was SO excited to have two that I had no clue it was actually a mistake on their part. I still love those dolls!

  15. Brianne Talmadge December 4, 2011 at 9:10 pm #

My favorite gift that still sticks out in my mind was so simple but I LOVED it…a huge box filled with art supplies…colored paper, fresh crayons, glitter…you name it and it was there…so wonderful!

  16. Alba December 4, 2011 at 9:10 pm #

    I love Land of Nod!
My favorite Christmas present as a child was a girl doll named Mafalda. A smart curious little girl. She is very famous in Latin America. Google her, you’ll love her! !

  17. Hannah December 4, 2011 at 9:06 pm #

When I was a little girl, I loved the American Girl books. One Christmas, I received a sweater box FULL of all the remaining American Girl books that I didn’t have yet! Oh, I was so thrilled.

My favorite was a My Little Pony beauty shop… I can still smell the strawberry “shampoo”… So fun! ;)

  21. sue December 4, 2011 at 8:17 pm #

y favorite gift was a Singer sewing machine with a flowered carrying case. I am fairly certain my present-day love of sewing is due to the hours I spent creating doll clothes and accessories.

  22. shelly December 4, 2011 at 8:10 pm #

One of my favorite gifts ever was the dollhouse that my dad built and my mom and her friend decorated for my sister & me. We spent many, many happy hours {over the course of quite a few years} playing and dreaming together.

  23. Kristen Bankard December 4, 2011 at 8:09 pm #

My favorite gift was a pink Porsche for my Barbie to cruise around in. I found it on the back deck and was thrilled to find one laaaast present and also that Santa had made a mistake! All the years before my presents were perfectly placed, but this year that present fell out of his sleigh! I will do this “accident” as well for my kids :)

  30. Cat Martin December 4, 2011 at 7:24 pm #

My best gift was when I was 5. I got a brand new bike. It was pink and had streamers coming off the handle bars and had….a banana seat. I was in girl bike heaven!

  31. Marsha Monroe December 4, 2011 at 6:55 pm #

Bikes are pretty common gifts, but when it happens
to you it is the best gift ever. I was 6 and it
was blue with training wheels. The best part was the
excitement of the loved ones in your family who guided
you through the learning process. Great memories!

  32. Jamie December 4, 2011 at 6:40 pm #

My favorite gift was a dollhouse that had been lovingly crafted by “Santa” and was painted the same colors as the house we lived in. Some of the rooms even had the same wall paper that my bedroom did.

  33. Tara Pfeiffer December 4, 2011 at 6:34 pm #

Fave was a HUGE, soft teddy bear. Much bigger than me at the time. Loved to curl up with it and drag it around the house.
I have already done a bunch of my Christmas shopping from LoN…but I am sure that I could pick out a few more things!

  34. Susan Hayes December 4, 2011 at 6:24 pm #

The best Christmas gift I received as a child was when I was 5 years old. Santa brought me a set of hardbound books – the classics! Heidi, Little Women, Black Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and a few more…I still have that set of books to this day. They are displayed on our living room bookshelf.

    • Sharon Krantz December 4, 2011 at 8:01 pm #

I received the same classics at age 5 and still have mine, as well.

  37. Onita December 4, 2011 at 5:57 pm #

  38. Cailin December 4, 2011 at 5:51 pm #

    A cabbage patch baby!

  39. Lisa December 4, 2011 at 4:52 pm #

My most memorable gift was when I got a Cabbage Patch Kid. Mainly because I had been wanting one for what seemed like FOREVER at the time. It was at least two years. Plus it was a Cornsilk Kid! I was so excited. Looking back I feel a little guilty because prior to that my mom had made me two handmade Cabbage Patch-like dolls, I think they were both Christmas gifts too. The first hand a hand painted cloth face (they were beautiful, my Mom is very crafty and can sew well). However, when I took it to school for show-n-tell, one of the kids made fun of me and after that I wanted a doll with a plastic face. So, she made me another one with a plastic head. They both had hand sew clothes too, and she made me a dress that matched the second doll’s. Still, it wasn’t from the store and I still wanted a genuine Cabbage Patch. Now I know the true value of those dolls made with so much love. I wish I had appreciated them a little more back then.

One year, as a fall project my classmates and I worked on a craft with a grandprarent or special friend. All items were to be sold at a craft show. My sweet Grandpa was very talented with stained glass. We worked together and made a beautiful stained glass art. It was an image of a little girl. I love it I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever done. I was too ill to attend the craft show and was sad because I wanted to buy my own creation. On Christmas morning I opened the stain glass image. My dad had gone and purchaed it for me. It hung on my bedroom window for over ten years.

  41. Ioanna December 4, 2011 at 3:35 pm #

It was a little lamb hand puppet! I still have it, and my son plays with it!

  42. Lee Ann Fletcher December 4, 2011 at 3:30 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a toybox made by my uncle and with a beautiful country scene painted on top by my aunt. It was something that held my toys as a child and my “things for the future” as a young adult!

  43. Stacie December 4, 2011 at 3:00 pm #

One year I begged for a cabbage patch doll but didn’t get it. Again the next year I begged and this time I got it. Complete with outfits that my mom had made for she and I! I played with her for the whole day and loved her!
Then we left on a trip to see family for the rest of the Christmas holiday. About a half hour into the trip the motorhome we were driving burnt to the ground. Thankfully my family and I were fine but my doll and all of our Christmas gifts and clothes were not!
My amazing aunt – who we were headed to visit – had a new cabbage patch doll for me when we arrived (much later than originally planned). It so blessed my heart! My daughters LOVE playing with my doll these days!

I remember waking up extremely early one Christmas morning (around 4 AM or something) and getting so giddy at the sight of a wooden snow sled with a red bow on top… then my dad woke up on the sofa (he fell asleep after putting all the presents under the tree, aww) and saw me exclaiming, “Santa was here!!!” He said, “Yes, he did! Now, go back to sleep…” That wooden sled was so fun to use on our snowy hills. Ah, memories..

  50. MominWAfrica December 4, 2011 at 1:54 pm #

Oh! This is so great to think back on Christmases past. Christmas was always a very practical occasion in our home. Santa knew we always needed socks and underwear and Mrs. Claus and Rudolph were in-the-know too, with sweaters and news shoes. While still very practical, one year I secretly wished for a pair of silk pajamas. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Rudolph all fell through, and so did grandma and grandpa. But the very last gift I opened that year was from my aunt and uncle who flew in from Chicago (how chic!) and it was a pair of red, silk pajamas. How wonderful! I don’t think I ever told them it was the only gift I ever secretly wished for; and then I received it.

By the way, I just gave the Melissa and Doug cookie set to my 2 year old on her birthday in Sept and she still loves it! I receive fresh-baked cookies almost every day!

  57. Jessica December 4, 2011 at 12:20 pm #

899 commenters?! The odds of winning this are just as good of me actually receiving a plush Lucky from 101 Dalmatians after the Disney animated version was released in the 90’s. Still, my parents were able to find it (they also had great luck finding the Jordan Knight doll from New Kids on the Block) and I was elated! Lucky me! : )

  58. Natasha Vandenberg December 4, 2011 at 12:17 pm #

  60. Erin H. December 4, 2011 at 11:48 am #

  69. Cecily T December 4, 2011 at 9:16 am #

My favorite Christmas toy was a Tomy set that had a train, an elevator, and a helicopter that whizzed little figures around it: they went through the elevator, it tipped them on the helicopter which spun around the elevator and then dropped them in the train. It worked right EVERY TIME which is something I can’t say about most of the kids’ toys we have today. I wish I still had it!

  74. Jenn B December 4, 2011 at 7:46 am #

I was around age 9 or 10, and I remember having to do a scavenger hunt around our home to find the final gift. We found a duffle bag underneath our dining room table filled with Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney World t-shirts. In the meantime, my parents had been setting up a video of WDW, because the gift was that we were going there two months later! We were really excited. It was so hard to wait two months, but we had such a good time there!

  75. Jordan December 4, 2011 at 7:11 am #

I remember getting my first cabbage patch doll- I don’t know now how they ever could have been such a hot item, but every store was sold out and they were uber expensive– but Santa pulled through!

  76. Leah Anderson December 4, 2011 at 7:04 am #

My favorite christmas gift was a baby that looked just like a newborn baby. All wrinkly and everything. When I think back on it now, I realized that it wasn’t the cutest doll in my collection, but it was a newborn baby! You can’t get any better than that!

In 3rd grade, I begged my mom for a Cabbage Patch kid. When I opened my gift, it was a homemade one. My mom didn’t have time to finish the toes on one foot, but I didn’t care. She was MINE and I took her everywhere! I still have her. Those kinds of toys give enjoyment for a really long time.

A very sweet black and white puppy–what could be better?!

  83. Cami December 3, 2011 at 11:11 pm #

  84. Nelly Rodriguez December 3, 2011 at 11:11 pm #

It was a tea party set. I was five or six. I loved it!

  85. Melissa Crouch December 3, 2011 at 10:42 pm #

My Favorite gift EVER was a velour matching pants and shirt set from “Garanimals” that my mom must have had on lay away for months. It was way out of our very humble family budget so I didn’t think I would get it in a million years. I recently found the picture of me opening it back in the 80’s, and the look of shear ecstatic-ness on my face would rival any publisher’s clearing house winner! Unforgettable……

  86. Debbie December 3, 2011 at 10:40 pm #

When I was about 5 or 6 my parents got me this huge, life-size doll. I was SO excited cuz I had been wanting it. Kinda creepy now that I look back on it though. :)

I got a “cricket” doll. She was amazing! She talked, sang, played games. Her eyes moved back and forth, which was kind of creepy, but otherwise hours of fun!

  94. Alison H. December 3, 2011 at 9:11 pm #

This might sound so lame…but I really remember when I was in junior high and I got a phone for Christmas…the best part…my parent’s told me I had my own line!!! Probably not the best idea (now that I am a parent, I can see that), but so awesome for a junior higher!!!

The best present I ever received was a life size doll my mom made of me for me! I was so shocked to see that doll in the big box! Somehow it got given away and I was so sad to find out. She put so much time, energy and love into it!!!

  108. Kelly December 3, 2011 at 6:12 pm #

A toy kitchen! My sister and I got one from our grandma one Christmas- years and years of fun! (It was one of the first things I bought my girls when they were to that age) :)

Most of us must be the around the same age since a lot of you put a Cabbage Patch Doll. I LOVED mine too.

My favorite gift was probably my Cabbage Patch Kid!

  112. Laura December 3, 2011 at 5:46 pm #

Several years ago my parents gifted my sister and I my mom’s best jewelry – the ring and the tennis bracelette over which we’d jokingly spent the last decade trying to decide who would get what when my mom died. At first we thought she must be terminally ill, but in fact my mom is just incredibly generous. She decided she would enjoy them more on us! The best part was that they actually gave them to our husbands so if anyone asked, my sister and I could honestly say they were gifts from our spouses. We still give my parents the credit, but I loved the sentiment behind it!

  113. Myriah December 3, 2011 at 5:19 pm #

My Crimp and Curl Cabbage Patch Doll! I wanted her so bad and spent endless hours teaching myself to French braid on her wire-y hair.

one year, Santa somehow got a hole–well, three holes–in the bottom of his candy bag, and there were three trails of lollipops leading from each of my brothers’ and my stockings on the fireplace to our gifts in the living room. probably the most memorable visit from Santa, and a pretty cool gift.

  115. EarlyGirl December 3, 2011 at 4:44 pm #

One of my favorite Christmas gifts came just last year. My wonderful, talented, crafty friend Wendy – who hosts a craft night once a month for our “mom night out” – had our husbands over to make gifts for their wives. Each of us received a silver charm necklace with a handful of paper inserts that our hubbies had designed and crafted. They were so proud of themselves. The best part? They had so much fun doing it that they’ve asked Wendy to host another “guys craft night”! Or maybe it was the bacon dip and beer she provided… every time I wear the necklace my husband smiles…

    • April December 3, 2011 at 5:57 pm #

      That is really cool.

  116. Michelle Byler December 3, 2011 at 4:39 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was probably my doll that blew bubbles after I fed her a bottle. I adored her and now my own kids have fun playing with her!

My favorite gift was a set of stacking dolls my dad brought home from his trip to russia.

My favorite Christmas gift would have to be Fashion Plates. Hours upon hours of fun… I think if they were around now Land of Nod would approve of the artistic value ;) I have bought many Christmas and birthday gifts for my children and their friends through their catalog. Would love to visit a store someday… thanks for the contest!

A bicycle. I had been wanting one for a while and on the Xmas before (when i thought I was getting a bike), I’d gotten books so I was pretty psyched when I actually got my first bike!

My favorite Christmas gift was a typewriter from Santa. I think I was four when I asked for it, and I remember many hours spent on it, click-click-clicking away and learning my letters. :)

  129. Sarah December 3, 2011 at 1:53 pm #

I’ve always been an avid reader but always borrowed books from the library rather than buying them. It was a real treat to unwrap books on Christmas morning knowing I didn’t have to turn them in at the end of the month. I think the Anne of Green Gables collection when I was 9 or 10 was probably my favorite.

Handmade doll bunk bed and high chair.

  131. jennifer December 3, 2011 at 1:39 pm #

i have realized over time that i didn’t have a “normal” christmas growing up. we always went to my grandparents on christmas eve’s eve and went to church and had dinner. we all spend the night and then everyone would go back home on christmas eve to go to “the other side of the family” except we didn’t have an “other side”. so until i was an adult and married i never did christmas on actual christmas day. we also didn’t do many gifts, our grandparents would give us a check at thanksgiving and we were supposed to just pick out what we wanted and bring it to christmas eve and show them.

so im sad to say i don’t have many memories of the whole joy of christmas morning and some really cool barbie gifts or something. later in my childhood my parents decided to start back up gifts from “santa” but we were in jr high … so we knew the pj’s were from mom and dad.

i can’t say im sad about my christmas past , because we didn’t do many tangible gifts … instead we got to “go” places. ie, take a plane ride by ourselves (40 min flight), a train ride, the science museum … as a kid i was always embarrassed when we got back to school and i didn’t have a list of cool electronics that i got … but now, i realize the value in what we got as gifts. we got experiences as a family … something i have come to cherish and value and hope to pass on to my son.

this christmas is my sons first christmas (8 months old) he’s too young to really understand it all — but I think i will take a mix of my childhood and my husbands and not “overdue” it on all the toys, but mix in some cool experiences. :) but i can’t wait to wrap up that perfect little toy and watch his eyes light up as he gets to rip open the wrapping paper!!!

Tickets to see the musical “Cats” – thus began my love affair with musical theatre! It was so memorable that my 10-yr-old self went home that night and described it in detail in my diary. :-)

My aunt sent me her microscope. It was very old and nothing like the ones today, but I loved it. I would examine all types of things under it. Loved collecting rain and pond water in the little vials, and examining the little microbes under the lenses. It today remains one of my most special gifts.

  146. Nicole Langlow December 3, 2011 at 11:01 am #

I got a lifesized doll named Holly that was my favorite doll throughout growing up… she fit into real baby clothes, so I had tons to dress her in with my old baby clothes.

I used to love looking through the Pleasant Company catalog and I had my heart set on Samantha. The dolls were so expensive I just knew I wouldn’t ever have one, but I went ahead and asked anyway. Somehow my parents managed to find the money and when I was eight-years-old I woke up on Christmas morning to find “my Samantha” under the Christmas tree.

  151. Suzy Olsen December 3, 2011 at 9:59 am #

the greatest gift i received as a kid was from my grandmother. every year she gave me one new piece for my very own christmas village. now, as an adult i have my grandma to thank for my beautiful christmas village, and each year when i put it up i think of the happy memories of many christmases at her house throughout my childhood.

  152. Anita December 3, 2011 at 9:53 am #

I think I was 3 years old and my grandfather built a doll cradle for me and had it wrapped in simple brown paper back with a bow. My dad caught a picture of my face when I opened it and the look on my face was priceless! I loved that little cradle and doll!! I played with it until it fell apart and even then I continued to play with it pieced together with tape and string.
That look on my face on that Christmas is the look I want to see on my daughter’s face this Christmas! I’m so excited for her this year since she has really taken a liking to all the wonders of Christmas. Watching her get excited as the train goes around the Christmas tree, playing with her Little People Nativitiy scene etc. makes Christmas special to me.

My favorite present was a huge barbie house handmade by my mom’s best friend’s husband. I don’t have it anymore since I ended up just having boys (who really don’t like dolls). I gave it back to my mom’s best friend. They have two granddaughters. I see them a lot. It is good to know that someone else will get to enjoy it as much as I did.

When I was 8, my sister, cousins & I all got American Girl dolls from our grandma for Christmas. We wanted them so badly and each had one (of the original 4) picked out. When I opened doll outfits and a Samantha book set at home Christmas morning, I knew it meant the dolls were waiting for us at Grandma’s! I remember shrieking for joy.

The best Christmas present I got was a pair of roller skates when I was in 5th grade. There was a big box that was incredibly light. When I opened it, it was actually a card saying I would get to go pick them out with my Grandmother. I just remember the element of the surprise being so wonderful. I still have the card with my grandmother’s drawing of roller skates.

I have loved Land of Nod for quite awhile myself and thoroughly enjoy all of the whimsical details they put into their designs! My kids have a couple of presents from there for Christmas already, but I could very easily spend $75 more . :)

  178. Elizabeth DiBagno December 3, 2011 at 6:25 am #

It’s hard to think back now and decide what my favorite childhood Christmas gift was. But there was a gift I received that I still have, and have now passed on to my baby. It is a wooden pull-along duck with round wheels for legs, and it has a separate wooden egg that goes on its back. As the duck is pulled along the egg spins around. My son loves it now.

  179. Katrina December 3, 2011 at 6:13 am #

I have always been called Kitty by my family and friends and my best Christmas gift was my first two wheeler bike that said “miss kitty” on the side. It was pink, purple, and blue, and it had streamers on the handle bars. I loved this bike and because it was too cold and snowy outside my parents let me ride up and down the main hallway of our house that day. (I could only go about 10 feet, then dad had to pick the bike up turn it around and I rode back the 10 feet lol).

my first ten speed bike was so exciting to come down the stairs and see!! It was purple :-) I love Land of Nod!

I’ve love the LON website. Sounds like I’ll need to request a paper catalog as well!

As a young girl I desperately wanted an American Girl Doll (they were called Pleasant Company back then). My parents couldn’t afford to get me one, let alone all of the accessories. My mom overcame the financial obstical with her boundless creativity by buying a less expensive doll somewhere else but presenting the doll to me on Christmas with a whole trunk full of beautiful outfits she had sewn for her. A winter coat & hat with faux wool trim, a Christmas dress that matched my own (which of course mom had made as well), nightgown, etc, etc
It was a little girl’s dream come true! As I look back I realize the real gift was a creative mom.

  182. McLain Padilla December 3, 2011 at 5:47 am #

The most memorable Christmas gift I received as a child was a camel stuffed animal sent from my dad who at the time was deployed on an aircraft carrier to the Red Sea (during the first Desert Storm). I was probably around 7 or 8 years old. It’s funny how I really don’t remember a lot of the gifts I received as a child, but this one especially sticks out to me. I guess we often remember moments in our lives better than actual things :)

  183. Katie December 3, 2011 at 5:18 am #

My hero grandfather made me a dollhouse one Christmas. Not only was it Victorian awesomeness, but he made it and I loved it that much more.

When I was 4 I lived in Ohio and my dad was living in Texas. He couldn’t come home at Christmas, so one of his brothers dressed up as Santa and came to my Grandma’s Christmas with gifts for my sister and I from our dad. He said he had already been to Texas and that our Dad asked if Santa could drop them off. It was a cowgirl Cabbage Patch Kid. I think I liked the delivery more than the gift! :)

  192. LaDonna December 3, 2011 at 1:16 am #

Ok so my favorite Christmas gift was this 3foot doll, I had wanted one so bad for so long. When Christmas came along we usually weren’t given much, and this Christmas it was even less than usual, or so I thought. My mom and dad gave me a few small gifts I don’t even remember what they were, only that I was trying to act pleased and thankful. After everyone had opened there gifts, my parents did that “oh yeah there’s one more that we almost forgot” and yes, you guessed it out they came with the most beautiful 3 foot doll I had ever seen. I thought my world could not get better ;-)

A Kindle! I was a little bit older in age but still a kid at heart when I received it. Still makes me smile every day that I use it.

  194. Stefanie December 3, 2011 at 12:43 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was the desk Santa left me when I was probably 8 years old (yes, I’m a nerd!). It was a nice oak desk, and it served me well all the way through high school and college. I remember using it for homework, art projects, and playing store with my sister and friends.

  195. Jessica December 3, 2011 at 12:41 am #

Growing up, my mom always saved the best present for each of us and left it unwrapped & out of the box on the fireplace hearth. (We were supposed to think Santa had just left them there for us.) One year I got a Sega Game Gear, which was really amazing b/c we never really had anything all that technologically advanced at our house. :)

There was a BIG box under the tree on Christmas morning addressed to me and my sister. Well it was big to us then! Probably 2 ft by 3 ft, big by little girl standards. It was chuck full of Barbie items of every kind, clothes, a green convertible, Skipper, Ken, you name it! Looking back my mom probably didn’t want to wrap each item separately, but to us we thought it was cool to get such a big package and to have so much jam packed into it! I still have some of those items and have passed them on to my daughters. Unfortunately the car is no longer.

  198. Audra December 3, 2011 at 12:21 am #

Barbie’s glorious pink convertible with a perfect new Barbie and Ken dressed in beach-ready clothes and sitting in the front seats….my 7 year old heart almost couldn’t take it! Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.

My favorite Christmas present as a child was a teeter totter that my dad welded for us in our backyard while we slept.

Another year we woke up to a front yard full of snow because my dad drove an hour to the snow and loaded his truck up and brought it home.

It’s not the money, it’s the memories:)

My fave gift was the year {1987} my parents bought my brother and I matching snow suits with matching orange sleds. Mom had it all set up in the den. She stuffed the snow suits so that it would like like two people sledding down a hill. Not only did we have new snow clothes, but it meant we {AZ folk} were taking a vacation to the snow! It was perfect.

My favorite memory of a gift as a child was a bike chain/lock because it was hidden and we had to hunt for it. It was wrapped around the trunk of the tree, we thought it was the best.

    Best gift ever….Cabbage Patch Doll

  205. Megan Grasman December 2, 2011 at 11:18 pm #

I remember getting one of those snow inner tubes you could use for sledding instead of a sled. My brother and I got matching ones and I remember complaining about how I would never use it but boy was I wrong. I can still remember memories years later of my brother and I going sledding with them and having a blast!

Best present I ever got…not just because of the fun but because I had an excuse to hang out with my younger sibling when hanging out with some one younger wasnt “cool”!!

My favorite christmas gift was definitely my little Casio piano keyboard. That thing took a beating and proved to be the beginnings of my love for music. I dreamed of the day I would own a real piano… just months ago, a dear family who was downsizing gifted us theirs and now my little man is learning on a BIG keyboard. So grateful!

  207. Rosa @ flutterflutter December 2, 2011 at 10:57 pm #

Rollerskates were my favourite Christmas morning memory. I’d love the Gift Certificate!! Great giveaway!

  208. Melissa R December 2, 2011 at 10:57 pm #

I can still rembrandt getting the doll that ate and then pooped or peed. Because my mother told me there was NO WAY she was getting me that and that I would have to ask Santa. Good old Santa pulled through.

  209. Tricia December 2, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

The very first Harry Potter book, when it was first published. My dad “heard about it on the radio and thought it might be interesting.” Little did he know, I would still be reading all the books over and over more than a decade later!

  210. Catherine R. December 2, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

I would have to say was my dad got me a Razor, those scooters that were so popular in the early 00’s. And he engraved my name on the bottom, and I had blue light up wheels! Ah I loved that thing like no tomorrow!

  211. nan December 2, 2011 at 10:55 pm #

One year I got a pretty bike, I was thrilled! My dad let me ride it all around the house on Christmas day. It was great to be a kid!

  212. Shari H. December 2, 2011 at 10:54 pm #

One of my favorite gifts was a Breezin’ jacket back in the 80’s when they were so popular. They were all sold out and pretty hard to find, but my mom found one for each of us, how could I ever have doubted the magic she always created for us?!

  213. Molly December 2, 2011 at 10:52 pm #

My sister (who is now 32 and has children of her own) still has our marble run set made by Discovery Toys. We loved it!!

  214. Wendy Del Vaglio December 2, 2011 at 10:45 pm #

When I was young, my absolute favorite color was red. My mother found a small, very sweetly illustrated children’s book titled “Ann likes red” by Dorothy Z. Seymour. Since my middle name is Ann, my mother wrote Wendy in front of each Ann on every page so the book became “Wendy Ann likes red”. She even signed the book, “with love, from Santa Claus”. In the thirty plus years since I received and first read that book, I have lost that precious gift. I had told a very sweet friend of mine the story right before Christmas two years ago, and completely forgot I had even told her. I woke Christmas morning, went outside with the kids to see if the reindeer ate the oats off of the front lawn, and there it was, sitting on my welcome mat. A new “WENDY Ann Likes Red”, autographed by Santa :) It’s a toss up as to which one is more precious to me. I will always treasure the memory of the book my mother gave me, and will forever adore the new one and the friend that did that very special thing for me.

    • EarlyGirl December 3, 2011 at 4:33 pm #

My mom just called and read your comment to me… I had totally forgotten about that book, and had no idea it meant that much to you. I was crying by the time she finished reading. You are a WONDERFUL blessing in my life, and you make my heart happy. God has placed us in each other’s lives for a reason (and it’s more than just crafting!). Love you!

  215. Megan M December 2, 2011 at 10:36 pm #

The Little Orphan Annie-Daddy Warbucks mansion dollhouse. Ohhhhh, I loved that house, it was the best. We were in Hawaii for Christmas and my parents shipped in there and back. Crazy…. but I was crazy in love with it!

  216. Sandra December 2, 2011 at 10:36 pm #

My favorite gift as a child was a stuffed monkey I received when I was around 3. It was the type who had a banana for a thumb and had white sneakers. He had red suspenders. I loved him and named him Chongo (monkey in Spanish). I carried him everywhere and my grandmother had to sew his arms back on on several occasions. Because of him I had a love of monekys growing up. I still have him tucked away in some boxes. His fur is worn and he is rippe dhere and there but he was my best gift.

  217. Emily Simmons December 2, 2011 at 10:28 pm #

I have lots of things I remember getting and loving! But I adored the “Annie” mansion/doll house I got the year I was OBSESSED with little orphan Annie!!

  218. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 10:27 pm #

Oops. My favorite present was my brother, Caleb. He was born on Christmas.

  219. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 10:26 pm #

My favorite Christmas present. I was 5 when he was born on Christmas morning.

I also loved my art easel that Santa brought me when I was 8 ;)

  220. katie f. December 2, 2011 at 10:25 pm #

My Pleasant Co. baby doll that my grandma bought for me when I was 8. I cherished that doll and all of its precious clothes and accessories. I found the box of her recently and was so happy to share it (and play with it again!) with my 18 mo. old :)

  221. Kelley M December 2, 2011 at 10:23 pm #

A guess jean jacket. :) I’m dating myself!

  222. Stacy December 2, 2011 at 10:22 pm #

My favorite Christmas was when I got a new doll, a high chair for her and an ironing board! I felt like such a mom! That’s all I ever wanted to do! Now I am a mom of 4 wonderful boys. Christmas is so much fun blessing them with gifts that help make them who they are going to be.

  223. Laura F. December 2, 2011 at 10:18 pm #

My favorite gift was a doll my mom made for me. The year I really wanted a Cabbage Patch kid, she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to find one, so she made me a doll instead. I am so grateful she did.

  224. EJ Anderson December 2, 2011 at 10:17 pm #

The best christmas present I got as a child was a years worth of piano lessons, and box of my great-grandmothers sheet music.

  225. Kathryn December 2, 2011 at 10:09 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift from when I was a child was the (original) Grease soundtrack (record) – awesome! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity – my two girls are just at the age now where they like to play games (5 and 3). Merry Christmas :)

  226. Wendy @ The Shabby Nest December 2, 2011 at 10:06 pm #

My very favorite childhood Christmas gift was a baby doll that I had seen in a catalog while visiting my Grandma one day. I showed it to my parents and made sure they knew that I *had* to ask Santa for it. I hoped and hoped that Santa wouldn’t forget. And Lo and Behold on Christmas morning, there was that baby doll under the tree. I couldn’t have been happier!

  227. Tanya Hulbert December 2, 2011 at 10:03 pm #

What a fun opportunity to recall some of our most wonderful childhood memories! My parents would always tell us to go into our rooms and they would bring in our presents all at once. One of my fondest gifts was the year I received Strawberry Shortcake and her bakery! My little girl is now almost seven and she plays with my sweet little Strawberry Shortcake dolls and accessories! It’s adorable!

  228. Amanda G. December 2, 2011 at 9:58 pm #

The best Christmas gift ever was an American Girl doll I had wanted for a very long time!! =) It was a wonderful Christmas! I am expecting my 1st December 31, I cant wait to make this baby’s Christmases as wonderful as mine were.

  229. Andrea December 2, 2011 at 9:58 pm #

My favorite had to be a white (with pink hair, of course) My Little Pony. Loved her!

  230. Allison Hinds December 2, 2011 at 9:55 pm #

My best gift was a camera. I endlessly took pictures (which of course back then I had to pay to develop the film). I loved capturing the everyday world around me.

  231. Jodie December 2, 2011 at 9:55 pm #

One of my most favorites was when my sister and I got brand new ski’s, poles, boots, the whole caboodle! We were pretty young and this was big time! My parents, who were by no means rich, extended the gift by making a scavenger hunt throughout the whole house before we finally found them in the closet under the stairs. I remember the giddy joy my older sis and I had running around trying to solve the mystery. The hunt was the most special part of the whole thing!
Thanks for this opportunity Emily! :)

  232. Maegan Echols December 2, 2011 at 9:46 pm #

My favorite, and most memorable, christmas present I got as a child was a Teddy Ruxpin. I just remember hugging that thing on Christmas Day, thinking I was the luckiest kid ever!

  233. Hannah Vaughn December 2, 2011 at 9:45 pm #

My favorite Christmas present came just a few years ago. My dad was very sick and I couldn’t help but worry that might be the last Christmas he was here. He surprised me by having one of my favorite snapshots blown up and framed, he picked out everything himself and was so proud. He’s much healthier now and that picture has traveled with me from Illinois to Washington D.C. and now Kentucky.

  234. Nicole December 2, 2011 at 9:44 pm #

I remember getting a cabbage patch kid doll. Being a child of the 80s, those were babies wanted by all little girls. I didn’t like the official name my doll came with. So my dad set up a courthouse and we officially changed the name, complete w new certificate. Lol

  235. Mrs Skvortsov December 2, 2011 at 9:35 pm #

my favorite gift as a child was this enormous life size baby doll. I thought I was the richest person in the world. It was given to me by a friend of the family. I cherished it dearly.

  236. Danielle O. December 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm #

Land of Nod is one of our fave places. Have loved it throughout the years, from newborn to big kid.

    • Danielle O. December 2, 2011 at 9:28 pm #

Whoops, hit enter by mistake. I was going to say the greatest gift I ever received as a child was my very first cabbage patch doll {Amy}. I remember that Christmas like it was yesterday, but honestly I don’t remember how old I was. Never was there another Christmas where I wanted one specific thing so badly. Those were the days.

  237. Joy December 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm #

My very best Christmas gift was a blue bicycle…my sister got a matching one, too and we rode together everywhere!

  238. Chelsea Crawford December 2, 2011 at 9:18 pm #

My very favorite and most precious Christmas present was from Christmas of 2009. My boyfriend (now Husband) and I had been on a 50 day break seeking God’s will for our relationship. It was very hard and painful and I was so unsure of what the outcome would be. This all took place over Christmas and we weren’t able to be together which was very sad for me. However on January 20th, he came over to my house and with many tears in his eyes told me how much he loved me and that he didn’t want to live life without me. It was all so precious and two days later we celebrated our own “Christmas” together. He gave me many wonderful and expensive presents; however, my favorite was a book of letters he had written for me which consisted of 50 letters for every day that we had been apart. It meant so much to me that he had taken the time to write to me every day until we saw eachother again. I am so in LOVE :) Now we are married and have a little baby girl :)

Well, it was actually a birthday gift but my birthday is 4 days before Christmas. I was gifted a beautiful, handmade Christmas stocking that I still have to this day. I wish I could track down the woman that made it for me (she was a co-worker of my mom’s) and have her make matching ones for my children. It was and IS so special to me. Merry Christmas!

The first gift that popped into my mind when I read your question, was the Nativity set given to me by my aunt when I was maybe 9 years old. Simple ceramic figurines and a basic stable w/ a music box that tinkles out “Silent Night.” I loved it. Still do. This year I put it in my 3-year-old girlie’s bedroom, and she has fallen in love—last night, she took the little Baby Jesus in the manger to bed with her! :)

  252. Renee Shewbart December 2, 2011 at 8:36 pm #

The very best Christmas was when I was about 10 yrs. old & it was the last time I ever requested a doll for Christmas. We grew up really poor & it seemed Santa never brought us any of the “name brand” toys that we ask for. But that year I got the Baby Tender Love doll that I asked for & I felt like the richest person on earth because of that! A great great memory!

  253. Ondrea December 2, 2011 at 8:32 pm #

My mom makes Christmas so special for us each year…I’m almost 35. And now she makes it special for her 5 grandsons. It’s hard to pick a favorite gift, because she always works so hard to get us JUST the right thing that we want that year. She makes me a better person! I like the Land of Nod too:)
    Merry Christmas!Ondrea

It would have to be a tie between the time when I was about 8 and I got a red-haired Cabbage Patch Kid named Ruth or when I was 12 and got my first pair of Doc Martens that I had been wanting so badly.

  258. Sarah Fink December 2, 2011 at 8:14 pm #

My sister and I received the Heart Family (I think they were supposed to be Christian barbies!) one year. We spent HOURS playing with them in the doll house our dad made us. Sweet memories…

  259. Terry December 2, 2011 at 8:05 pm #

My best Christmas gift ever was a second-hand manual typewriter. I was in 5th grade, and we were moving to another city right after Christmas. I used that typewriter to write letters to my friends and family (on onion skin paper to save postage). I used it to type term papers in high school and college. (This was before computers! I am 57). I still have that beautiful old Royal typewriter and it has a place of honor on the office desk. :)

  260. jody December 2, 2011 at 8:04 pm #

My favorite gift of all time came one year when i was 6. I really wanted the “Sounds like home ” dollhouse but my parents couldnt afford it. For weeks my dad worked to build me my own “looks like home” dollhouse, an exact replica of my childhood home. It was an amazing surprise that christmas, and one my daughter now plays with.

  261. Katie December 2, 2011 at 7:53 pm #

I think mine would have to be an American Girl doll. I still have her, crossing fingers for a little girl to pass her down to!

  262. Terry December 2, 2011 at 7:52 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a beautiful doll dressed in a wedding gown when I was 3 years old.

  263. Jen December 2, 2011 at 7:48 pm #

I loved opening up the envelope that told the gender of our last baby – a boy! on Christmas Eve. It was a gift our family will remember, for sure.

  264. Tina December 2, 2011 at 7:47 pm #

This is going to tell my age, but when I was in grade school the Chrissy doll came out. It was white with bright red hair and about 18″ tall. I didn’t like it much, but then they came out with one that was brown with black hair and I loved it! My parents got it for me for and I was sooo excited. I’m white and am now married to a man from India (love that brown skin)!

  265. Kimberlee December 2, 2011 at 7:46 pm #

My teddy bear when I was 3. Still have him.

  266. Jennifer December 2, 2011 at 7:45 pm #

The best Christmas gift I received as a child was the year I got my Cabbage Patch Kid. In addition to the coveted doll my mom handmade a basket full of clothes for her and my dad made a beautiful wooden cradle.

  267. Jaelyn December 2, 2011 at 7:39 pm #

The best Christmas gift I ever received was my dog Rusty. He’s long passed away, but he was a best friend to me throughout most of my childhood. I look forward to the day I get to give my kids a puppy for Christmas!!

  268. Tricia December 2, 2011 at 7:38 pm #

My very best Christmas present was a milkshake maker as it is the only toy my dad ever bought me! My mom always did the shopping and when my parents divorced he always just wrote us a check….. Sad but true and probably why it makes it so special.

  269. Ashley December 2, 2011 at 7:29 pm #

Best gift ever was the light bright I got when I was 9. We had just moved to Washington from California and I was majorly homesick and mom and dad were broke. But they got the one thing I thought I couldnt live with out. Christmas was awesome and our family from Cali came to Wa. and surprised us!

  270. Megan December 2, 2011 at 7:28 pm #

My most memorable gift was a little sock doll my mom made me. I still have it to this day, and love thinking about the love that went into making it for me!! And, Audrey will love the cookie set!! My 2 year old has it, too, and LOVES playing with it almost daily!! This year I am getting her the pizza set!!

  272. La Donna December 2, 2011 at 7:22 pm #

My favorite gift as a child was a three wheeler bike with E.T. on the front. What’s so ironic about that gift is I was completely, horrifically, enormously, out.of.my.mind scared of E.T. But because I became the coolest kid on the block with that bike, my fears seemed to flee. :)

I’m 27 and I can remember my favorite gift of all time was 12 years ago!!! I was 5 and my parents bought me a cabbage patch doll with red long yarn hair! She was a cowgirl and came with a special horse!!! What girl wouldn’t want a doll with a horse!?!? Oh and yes… she had a FRINGE VEST!

  278. Joanna Kay December 2, 2011 at 7:03 pm #

My very favorite gift received as a child was the American Girl doll “Samantha”. My parents staged it well because I opened up the books first and thought for sure that I was ONLY getting the books, so when I opened the doll I was completely surprised and shocked. I still remember how excited I was opening that sweet present. I loved her and still have her to pass on to my girls someday!

  279. Emily December 2, 2011 at 7:01 pm #

Wow! What an awesome giveaway! The best Christmas present I ever received actually came exactly one week after our first Christmas as a married couple. We found out we were pregnant with our first baby (now we have #3 baking) ;) When I calculated our due date it said possible conception was December 24, Christmas Eve (tmi? maybe) but what a wonderful present!!

    • Emily December 2, 2011 at 7:20 pm #

Haha, just realized it said favorite gifts as a child…oops :) I’d go with my American Girl doll, Molly, when I was 10.

  280. Britney December 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm #

One Christmas my parents got my brother and I a black Labrador puppy…the best part was that we had to go on a scavenger hunt to find her, reading clues along the way!

  281. Laura December 2, 2011 at 6:54 pm #

A telescope. Definitely not the typical gift for a little girl, but it brought the wonders of God’s creation into focus in a new way–plus, it helped me spy on my neighbors! :)

  282. Chelsea December 2, 2011 at 6:52 pm #

I’ll tell you my son’s favorite Christmas gift. Last year he asked Santa for a baby brother. Six months later (on his birthday) he got his baby brother. He calls his brother his “best present ever”!

It’s really simple and kind of silly…Every Christmas since I don’t remember when my Aunt buys my brother and I new pjs that we get to open on Christmas Eve and wear that night. I’m 25 and I STILL enjoy getting those PJs each year. Who doesn’t love new jammies? I have since started the tradition with my daughter and hope she loves it just the same :)

Oh my goodness, soooo hard to choose my favorite childhood Christmas gift . . . but I must pick my Raggedy Ann doll – which will be passed on to my daughter when she is born in April!

  287. Estela Morgan December 2, 2011 at 6:36 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift I remember recieving as a child was my toy sewing machine. I would sit and pretend to sew for hours. I would make everyones clothes and hand sew barbie clothes out of socks. My mom didnt like that too much because she had to constantly buy me new socks. :)

My favorite gift is still my American Girl doll. I got her when I was 11. I’m 28 now and I still treasure her! Now I have my own daughter and it will be so much fun to pass her down….if I can let her go that is…lol

  290. Leslie December 2, 2011 at 6:33 pm #

My very best Christmas gift ever came in 5th grade — beautiful white figure skates with rubber blade guards. And some of my fondest memories are of Dad scrapping off a skating rink on the frozen lake in front of our house. We’d wait and wait till we heard on the news that the lakes were frozen thick enough for skating (Michigan) and then I knew that weekend he’d clear our rink. What great memories.

My favorite gift as a kid was probably a boombox which played tapes and cds. To go along with it, I got a Whitney Houston tape which I played ad nauseum…mind you I was probably 6 years old. That tape was the reason all of my baby dolls for the next two years were named Whitney.

  293. Wendy G December 2, 2011 at 6:20 pm #

The one that stands out in my memories was a doll bunk bed. I loved my Cabbage Patch dolls, and to place them in bunk beds at night was a dream cone true for me!

  294. Julie Ann December 2, 2011 at 6:20 pm #

My favorite gift came to me when in 1987 when I was 7 years old. I am the one of six children, and that summer my mom was diagnosed with cancer. My youngest brother was only 1 year old and the oldest was 14. We lived in rural Nebraska and at the time the closest cancer treatment center was 4 hours away. Our family was divided most of the year, living with our grandparents in another state so my mom could get treatments there. Financially it was a huge undertaking. I didn’t realize the situation then like I do now, but looking back my parents had to be wondering how there would be a Christmas at all.

A few days before Christmas there was a knock at the door and a local church started bringing in boxes and boxes of food and a gift for each one of us. It still brings tears to my eyes as I write this. In the boxes they brought there was a Barbie for me. My first Barbie. She was beautiful! Twenty-four years later, I still have that very Barbie.

That day I saw my mom cry for the first time (the only time I saw her cry) throughout all of her cancer treatments.

That is the most memorable gift as far as material possessions go, but the real gift is that my mom is still here with us to celebrate Christmas 24 years later.

(ps. Sorry to get so long-winded and emotional, but what’s Christmas without a few tears, right?)

Probably my Mrs. Beasley doll. You pulled a string on her back and she talked too. She was from the 60’s show A Family Affair. I still have her and in elementary school brought her to show and tell. My best friend got one that year too and we went up to show and tell together in front of the class and pulled our dolls strings and would you believe they both spoke the same thing!! lol. will never forget that. ;)

When I was 10, my parents sent my sister and me on a scavenger hunt around the house finding clues that would ultimately lead to our big gift of the year…a trip to Maui. I have more memories from that trip than any other from when I was little, LOVED the time with my family!

  297. Steph H. December 2, 2011 at 6:15 pm #

My mom handmade Raggedy Anne and Raggedy Andy dolls. They were so cute!

My favorite gift as a child was when I was thirteen and my parents had a phone line installed in my room. In the morning the phone rang and my new swatch phone (remember those?) was ringing. Loved that thing.

  300. Jessie December 2, 2011 at 6:08 pm #

One year a secret Santa surprised me with a cabbage patch doll. My parents couldn’t afford one and someone special made my Christmas (and all my siblings’ as well).

  301. Helen December 2, 2011 at 6:03 pm #

I had picked out a baby doll shown on the back of a cereal box as my wished for Christmas gift. It was a thrill to get not only the doll but all the extra clothes that came with her. I still have that little doll over forty years later : )

  306. Helen December 2, 2011 at 5:40 pm #

    Great giveaway!

It would have to be that Easy Bake Oven…I had to wait a few Christmases…so I was a bit older than usual but I loved it…and couldn’t wait for my own daughters to have one as well.!

  307. katie December 2, 2011 at 5:40 pm #

That would have to be my American Girl doll, Kirsten. My sister and I spent so many hours playing with our dolls and drooling over the items and accessories available from the catalog. We would save up our own money so we could order new accessories and the excitement when they arrived in the mail was almost too much to handle! I feel so old knowing that my doll is “retired” from the collection now…

  308. Jessica Harris December 2, 2011 at 5:39 pm #

My all time favorite gift was my first Cabbage Patch Kid. Her name is Roxy and she came in a blue dress, and has brown hair and brown eye (just like me) her birthday is Dec 1st (mine bday is Dec.23). I still have her at my mom’s house in my room that I grew up in. Ohhh…. Happy Days

  309. Nora December 2, 2011 at 5:35 pm #

The best Christmas gift I got as a child was a little red toy piano. My aunt played piano, and I wanted one of my own. Our family had gone to our grandparents for Christmas, and on the way home (which was 50 miles away), I plinked, plinked, plinked on that little red piano until I had almost driven everyone crazy. Just thinking of that piano brings a smile to my face.

My Easy Bake oven was probably my all time favorite. Back then they looked like actual little ovens, so darling. I made cookies, cakes, and an assortment of melted plastic plates. :)

  315. Nicole H December 2, 2011 at 5:04 pm #

The three story build-able Barbie house I got when I was 6. We were just trying to find it in my parent’s garage so another generation could enjoy it!

I love the magic/spirit of Christmas and my best gift was when I received a bell from the Polar Express…complete with message from Santa and in it’s own special box. I show it to my students (I’m a teacher) to keep the spirit alive! Who knew a bell would be such a keepsake for me… ;)

  320. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 4:51 pm #

One Christmas my dad was in charge of all the shopping because my mom was on bedrest with my little brother. He arrived 4 days before Christmas, but by then Dad had already gotten everything. It was a blow out Christmas! I got a scooter and a white horse with purple mane and tail. I don’t know why I loved that thing so much, but in combination with a new and much prayed-for baby, it was the best ever.

  321. Linda Davis December 2, 2011 at 4:50 pm #

One of my favorite Christmas gifts ever, was given to me the year I was in the 6th grade and Rabbit fur coats were all the rage… yep, you know it- I got one!! I was so excited!! I wore it every day until the boy sitting behind me in Social Studies started pulling the fur out and blowing it into the air for entertainment- ugh- b.o.y.s. :)

My Grandma bought me my first sewing box with all sorts of sewing tools inside, when I was only 6! I think that sparked my creativity and confidence to try out my ideas.

  324. Danielle B. December 2, 2011 at 4:37 pm #

I have a few gifts that I was super happy to get as a little kid, but the one that I would say is most memorable was when my parents bought me my first mountain bike. It was a purple and gold Mongoose and it meant a lot to me because my parents loved mountain biking. I felt like I was special because I had something similar to what they had!

  325. Jyl Fearn December 2, 2011 at 4:36 pm #

My favorite christmas gift came from my husband 7 and 1/2 years ago. He proposed to me in my home in front of our fireplace on my favorite day of the year (: Every time I look at my ring I remember that special day.

  326. Melanie December 2, 2011 at 4:35 pm #

    Oh what an awesome gift!
One of my favorite gifts that was given to me from my parents was a Donald duck cookie jar. I was five and for some reason I loved to continually keep it clean after all the cookies were ate. One day as I was cleaning it I dropped it on the kitchen floor, breaking into pieces. At the same time my hear was breaking into pieces. I was so sad. ;)

  327. Kirsten December 2, 2011 at 4:34 pm #

Ohh…that’s a toughie! I’d have to say that my favorite gift when I was a child was a mermaid bath doll that my grandma bought me. For some reason, it just stands out. I loved it.

    Merry Christmas!

  328. Lemonade Makin Mama December 2, 2011 at 4:33 pm #

OH I KNOW!! My very best Christmas gift was when I was ten… my uncle and aunt worked for weeks, making me a wooden doll house. It had wallpaper, curtains, carpet, little sofas and even a clock hanging on the wall! If that wasn’t enough, my aunt made me this darling padded box just filled with goodies for the dollhouse, all carefully tucked inside. I’ll never forget that Christmas as long as I live!

    Merry Christmas girly!

  338. abbey December 2, 2011 at 3:57 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a little locket like the one from the movie/play “Annie”. My aunt gave it to me when I was about 4 and we had to “chip” away the top piece to reveal the secret message of “I Love You” beneath. I wore it all the time and it made me feel so special. It became very dear to me however when she passed from cancer a few years later, I was too young to understand it but felt her love every time I wore the locket.

  339. Melissa December 2, 2011 at 3:54 pm #

I remember how cool it was to receive a “boombox” one Christmas (perhaps the same year my brother got his Atari!) And the rest is history…ancient history. ha ha

  340. Lou Ann Moore December 2, 2011 at 3:53 pm #

I remember being the most excited to get a PJ Sparkles doll when I was a little girl. My grandpa hand carved a real mini rocking craddle for her to sleep in. I regret every day for not saving that craddle.

  343. Adrianne Pavlik December 2, 2011 at 3:51 pm #

  344. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 3:50 pm #

I also love Land of Nod! The gift I was most excited about as a child was a cabbage patch doll. “Santa” gave her to me when I was either 2 or 3. It was the first toy that I really asked for. I could barely be parted with her.

  345. Kristel December 2, 2011 at 3:39 pm #

  354. Laura December 2, 2011 at 3:16 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was my talking doll…it was like magic to pull the string on her back and have her talk to me. I was so proud of that doll!!

  355. Charity G. December 2, 2011 at 3:16 pm #

The very best gift I ever got as a child was a set of furniture for my baby doll made by my grandpa out of PVC pipe. There were 3 or 4 different things (bed, stroller, highchair) and my grandpa reglued them over and over again because they got so much use.

  356. Rebecca December 2, 2011 at 3:15 pm #

I remember the Christmas my brothers and I got the original Nintendo! Can’t go wrong with that!

  357. Megan December 2, 2011 at 3:15 pm #

  358. Jill Johnson December 2, 2011 at 3:09 pm #

A purple trench coat that made me feel so grown up when I wasn’t!

  359. Rebecca Christian December 2, 2011 at 3:08 pm #

One year my mom made me a baby doll bed and gave that to me with a new baby doll. She also made several outfits for my new baby. I loved it because I knew she worked hard on it and that made me feel special.

  360. Amoreena December 2, 2011 at 3:02 pm #

My preemie Cabbage Patch doll, Noreen (That’s what the Birth Certificate from Xavier Roberts named her). They were in high demand that year– 1984, maybe? I was thrilled that I got one. I used to love “mothering” and dressing up dolls. Now, this Christmas, for the very first time, I have a real-life “doll” of my own to dress up. I love you, Luca (my two month old son)!

  361. PamK December 2, 2011 at 3:02 pm #

My favorite gift was Baby Thataway. She crawled and though she had a hard outer body she was still a great doll.

  362. Courtney M December 2, 2011 at 3:01 pm #

I had forgotten about this until recently, but I loved Fashion Plates!

  363. Susan December 2, 2011 at 2:55 pm #

Was wayyyy back in the day when ‘fancy’ dolls were unheard of. My grandfather gave me a BEAUTIFUL bride doll, complete with gown, veil & pearl earrings that you could pin in & out of her head! She was so pretty & could actually be played with & not just looked at. Still remember that from many years ago!

  364. Tanya December 2, 2011 at 2:52 pm #

I can’t remember most of the stuff. What I remember most is just how special that my mom made everything. I do remember loving “The Sunshine Family” and I think I got them for Christmas.

  365. Ellen S December 2, 2011 at 2:48 pm #

the best gift I ever received as a child was this fluffy teddy, I still have it and now my son plays with it

  367. Audrey December 2, 2011 at 2:48 pm #

My favorite gift I received as a child was a big chalk board. I dreamed of being a teacher as a child and that chalkboard made my “classroom” seem so real! I played school with my little brothers (poor them!) and my stuffed animals for hours on end. And yes, I became a teacher – but chalkboards were obsolete by then! :) Merry Christmas!

  368. Stacey December 2, 2011 at 2:46 pm #

The most memorable gift I received as a child was the first Nintendo Gaming System – probably because I found it in my mothers’ closet when she told me to go grab her a pair of shoes. Now who would do that to a child and not expect them to see it in plain sight!? She had us convinced it was taken back to the store…what a surprise for us on Christmas morning!

  369. Linda T December 2, 2011 at 2:45 pm #

The best Christmas gift my parents gave me was not a gift that need to be unwrapped. Rather, it is the memory of not having a tree, Christmas presents, or Christmas cookies, but taking a two week trip to Mexico (driving from Chicago) to visit my mother’s family. We did this every other year as I was growing up. The best thing is my sisters and I never felt like we were cheated out of a “typical” Christmas with presents and tree. We were thrilled to be with our family who we didn’t get to see as often.

  370. Becky December 2, 2011 at 2:45 pm #

My favorite gift was definitely the Barbie Dream House :)

  371. Jaclyn Bishop December 2, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

My dad and brothers made my little sister and I our own kitchen set! It was so beautiful. My sister filled it with fake food and I used it for all my baby dolls beds. Yep. Freezer babies.
    Love LON!

  372. Desiree December 2, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was actually a memory that impacted my life forever. I was about 6 or 7 yrs old and had a friend that lived down the street. She was raised by a single father and was very poor. They were not going to have Christmas because her father simply couldn’t afford gifts. My aunt and uncle lived right next door and had no children. They decided to bless my friend and her father and give them tons of Christmas gifts. I’ll never forget the compassion that was shown that day. Now, as a mother of two, I try to instill that trait into my own children.

  373. SharonMK December 2, 2011 at 2:41 pm #

My favorite gift was a red-haired cabbage patch doll. My mom sat it on the couch so I could see it when I got home. It wasn’t under the tree, but I still remember how excited I was when I saw it!

  374. Anya Phillips December 2, 2011 at 2:40 pm #

My favorite gift was a pair of vans shoes. I wanted them so bad and my parents said they couldn’t get them…so it was a total surprise. I will always remember that Christmas.

  375. Lacey December 2, 2011 at 2:39 pm #

My favorite childhood Christmas gift was my Baby So Beautiful twin baby dolls. Kind of wish I would have kept them for my daughter=)

    A ping pong table!

  377. Jess T. December 2, 2011 at 2:34 pm #

The very best Christmas gift I received as a child was a set of American Girl Samantha books from my godfather. I love the Victorian era (even then), and I can pass the books on to my daughter in a few years.

Thanks so much for the generous giveaway! Christmas blessings to you and yours!

  378. Laura L December 2, 2011 at 2:32 pm #

My most memorial gift was a card table “house” that my mom made my brother and I. It was a hand sewn cover that went over our card table and it had a house on one side (for me) and a fire station on the opposite side for my brother. It was awesome and we spent a lot of time in there!

  379. Janae B December 2, 2011 at 2:32 pm #

A pink LEGO mansion. I LOVED it! I don’t think we have it now, which is incredibly sad, since I have a child that will start LEGOs soon. It had a clear plastic elevator and tiny clear plastic wine glasses for the little figurines to hold. My Dad thought it was so cool that he ended up taking over while I was putting it together on Christmas Day. But I played with it so much! I wasn’t as in to Barbies as I was to LEGOs, so this was like a Barbie DreamHouse for me :)

  380. Erika Lambert December 2, 2011 at 2:31 pm #

My heart smiles just thinking about the Christmas I laid eyes on my brand new, hot pink, kid-sized Barbie car! As soon as I spotted it I just hopped in the driver’s seat and took off (at a speed of about .5 mph, probably). It was one of those Hot Wheels brand inventions, and it even had a car phone. When you pressed the buttons on the car phone, Barbie’s voice said things like, “Let’s go to the mall!” I was one happy little girl!

  381. Amy C December 2, 2011 at 2:31 pm #

My dairy farming parents told us that they bought us a huge chocolate bar from the milk company one year. However, it came too early for Christmas, and they had to hide it in the barn. On Christmas morning, we all donned brooms and rakes in order to fight off rodents of unusual size (ROUS) that were probably gnawing on our beloved huge chocolate bar. We were delighted to find that a) there were no ROUS and b) the huge chocolate bar was actually a trampoline! :)

  382. heather December 2, 2011 at 2:28 pm #

def my fisher price record player. it was brown and had the cover that snapped on over it and a handle so i could take it anywhere (and i did!).

  383. Manda December 2, 2011 at 2:25 pm #

One year I really wanted to Hugga Bunch doll. My mom thought they were the most ridiculously fuzzy things plus I don’t think she had the money to spend on such a doll. So she made me a pillow in the shape of the doll out of fabric that had the doll printed on it. Needless to say I was so disappointed.

I say that it is one of my favorite Christmas gifts because now we can laugh and laugh about it. What a memory!

  387. Courtney B December 2, 2011 at 2:19 pm #

My favorite gift was red bicycle from santa. Unfortunately, my cousin informed me that it used to be her bike and therefore my belief in santa was dashed :o). It was a great bike though!

  388. Debra December 2, 2011 at 2:19 pm #

  390. Julie@jam-n-jilly December 2, 2011 at 2:14 pm #

Wow! What a generous giveaway! One of my favorite gifts as a child was a makeup kit! However I never really got to play with it because my little sister went into my room and ruined the lipsticks by pushing them up with the lids still on! Ugh! Ha! Thanks for the chance!

  391. Katie December 2, 2011 at 2:12 pm #

A visit from my grandparents! We lived in different states, and they usually arrived at our house just in time for Christmas!

  392. Tara Johnson December 2, 2011 at 2:09 pm #

My best gift was definitely my saddle. My parents always supported my dream of riding horses, but given we didn’t have much and they still managed to afford a saddle for me was huge. It was a Christmas I will never forget.

  393. Jen G December 2, 2011 at 2:07 pm #

I was raised as Jehovahs Witnesess so we didnt get to celebrate holidays. (We are no longer, SO thankfully!!!). So…the best Christmas gift I can think too list is the fact that I get to experience Christmas for the first times through the eyes of my daughter. She is 2 1/2. Super Exciting and I fully intend to make all her Holiday’s extra special!

I was given my drum set for Christmas… I was overjoyed but I think my parents quickly regretted giving them to me!

  397. Katie December 2, 2011 at 2:01 pm #

My Grandma had someone refurbish her favorite porcelain doll she had as a child. She gave it to me for Christmas, and I cherish it to this day waiting for a daughter to pass it on to.

  398. Glennen December 2, 2011 at 2:01 pm #

My Cabbage Patch doll. :) It was long time favorite!

  399. sdnyjo@gmail.com December 2, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift as a kid was “Santa Bear.” He was a white teddy bear with a Santa hat and scarf :) I swore growing up that he chased away my nightmares, and he slept next to me every night!

  400. Emmeline December 2, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

Hard to pick one – but I loved the Barbie Dreamhouse… My parents were up until 4 or 5am putting labels on the little bottles and cans and pulling apart the plastic silverware (REALLY!) that came with it. And of course, we were probably up no later than 7am. :) Wonderful parents!

  401. Tracy @ LaunchHER December 2, 2011 at 1:58 pm #

One year Santa left us one BIG family gift…a VCR. So funny to think about how obselete they are now.

  402. Jennifer Higley December 2, 2011 at 1:57 pm #

Me and my 3 siblings were given a record player! We were so excited to be able to listen to the radio and our records! I can remember the gold fabric behind the beautiful wood!

  403. Amy H December 2, 2011 at 1:57 pm #

My favorite gift was a Cabbage Patch Doll with crinkly hair that you could style into curls. I carried her with me everywhere!

  404. jen December 2, 2011 at 1:56 pm #

my favorite gift was always whatever book I got that year…we would all get books as gifts & spend most of the rest of Christmas day laying around reading…great memories :)

  405. Megan D December 2, 2011 at 1:56 pm #

I love Land of Nod, but have never been able to afford buying anything fo rmy kids from there. What a great Christmas giveaway! One of my favorite Christmas presents as a child was my Samantha doll from the American Girl collection. I just loved everything about that time period and wished that I could have gone back in time and lived then ;) Now my daughter enjoyed playing with her and I read the stories to her. Good times!

  406. Harriet Harrison December 2, 2011 at 1:55 pm #

I’m a grandmother so my gift memories are older than most, I suppose. My grandmother gave me all four of the Madame Alexander Little Women dolls. I got one every Christmas starting when I was 6 years old. I still have them. The oldest one is now 61 years old. That’s an old doll…not to mention an old woman who owns them :). Someday, when they are a little older, I will give them to my granddaughters.

  407. kristen December 2, 2011 at 1:54 pm #

my favorite christmas gift growing up was a rollerblade baby doll. i was six and it just so happened that i caught -ahem- Santa bringing in the gifts, so we had christmas at 5:00 a.m. that year!

  408. mrs meredith December 2, 2011 at 1:54 pm #

Favorite childhood gift? The game of Monopoly – I played it for HOURS!

  409. Sarah December 2, 2011 at 1:53 pm #

I got a unicycle one year that I tried and tried to learn how to ride but could never quite get the hang of it. I did enjoy trying, though. I would hang on to the gate around the tennis court, pulling myself along with my hands.

  410. lauren December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

probably would have to be searching for the cash in the christmas tree. i wish we still did that :)

  411. Lani December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

it was hard to think that far back at first, sorting through mental Christmas past, but then I stopped and got misty-eyed when I thought about my Thumbelina doll that still sits on a shelf in my living room because I loved her so much! My mom had to mend her, my dad wired her head back on, she doesn’t move anymore when you pull her string, her hair is matted…but I love her anyway…so she has a place of honor.

  412. Carly December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

Barbies, Barbies and more Barbies. Lined up on the fireplace after I went to bed on Christmas Eve, I would get the newest Holiday Barbie every single year as a little girl among other Barbies and accessories. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world every single Christmas morning for as many years as I can remember.

  413. Lauren York December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

When I think of my childhoodm Christmas gift, the one I remember being so excited about was a pink Strawberry Shortcake bike with a banana seat! Loved it and wish I still had it :)

  414. Autumn December 2, 2011 at 1:50 pm #

My parents got me a Betsy Wetsy doll as a child. It wasn’t my favorite gift that I’ve ever received, but at the time, I was too excited! I knew what it was before I even unwrapped it! :)

  415. Cassi December 2, 2011 at 1:50 pm #

My great grandma gave me “Chris-mutt” the Christmas I was almost two. Affectionately renamed “Doggy”, she went everywhere with me. My daughter is nearly two and I hope she finds great joy this Christmas!

  416. kristin M December 2, 2011 at 1:50 pm #

The very best gift I ever received was actually a life-long lesson wrapped as a sled. The year my mother bought me a wonderful wooden sled on runners was the year I discovered where she hid the Christmas presents. Yeah, I peeked. at.every.one. It ruined Christmas, even if my sled was lots of fun. I love surprises and there was not a one that year because I’d ruined it for myself. Now you could tell me exactly where my present is hiding and I WILL NOT LOOK!!!!!!! No peeking, no shaking, no poking. I learned my lesson.

  417. Nikki December 2, 2011 at 1:45 pm #

Oh my….the best Christmas gift was probably the Cabbage Patch doll my grandma made for me. She was one of the most played with, well-loved toys of my entire childhood!
P.S. The hubs and I just found out we’re expecting baby #1, so a shopping trip to Land of Nod sounds amazing just about now. :-)

  418. Marnie December 2, 2011 at 1:42 pm #

What a cute site, thanks. Barbie stuff, always the best gift.

  419. Heather Brown December 2, 2011 at 1:42 pm #

I remember how excited I was Christmas morning, when I awoke to find a brand new white and silver bike under the Christmas Tree! I was soooo excited and still have fond memories of my father teaching me to ride it without the training wheels.

  420. Jessica December 2, 2011 at 1:39 pm #

My very favorite gift was a handmade dollhouse for my sister and I, made by my wonderful father! He passed away this year, in March, so the memory to me is all the more special!

  421. Lauren Fretwell December 2, 2011 at 1:38 pm #

I’m not sure I had a favorite gift, but I always had a favorite method by which I got a gift. My dad was masterful with words and would write scavenger hunt clues that led us to our gift. The most memorable one would probably be the trampoline that was hidden back in our yard.

  422. Alisa Decatur December 2, 2011 at 1:38 pm #

Not that I can draw good by any means, but my favorite Christmas gift as a child was an art easel.

Thanks for the opportunity. I love Land of Nod.

  423. Twyla December 2, 2011 at 1:37 pm #

I love getting their catalogs each Christmas and letting my kids pick out a few things. Truly unique and quality gifts!

  424. Martha December 2, 2011 at 1:36 pm #

My favorite toy was a Wrinkles stuffed dog from my sister (12 yrs older.) I took her everywhere and now my daughter loves to play with her. thanks!

  425. Jenny December 2, 2011 at 1:34 pm #

The most favorite Christmas gift I can remember are the jammies my mother made us all each year. We were able to open up one Christmas present on Christmas Eve and it was always jammies. I loved sleeping in them dreaming of the next day. My mother put a lot of work into them each year and they were so special.

  426. Caitlin Peterson December 2, 2011 at 1:30 pm #

One year we got a kitten for Christmas. It was our very first pet, and my parents had put him in the basement to hide him and boy, did he do it well. It took us all day to find him!

  427. Janie December 2, 2011 at 1:30 pm #

The best Christmas gift I received as a kid was a gleaming white pair of roller skates that I wanted so much!

  428. deb December 2, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

a pink paisley dress that had been beautifully wrapped from the store. since the wrapping paper was different than all the other gifts, i truly believed it was from santa.

  429. Bethany December 2, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

The gift I most remember was a Strawberry Shortcake vanity. I sat at it for hours fixing my hair and pretending to put on makeup! So fun!
I love The Land of Nod. Thanks for the chance!

  430. Kira December 2, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

My mom always films me opening my big presents because I get so excited about most everything, but I remember one I really flipped out about receiving. It was when I unwrapped tickets to the play “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. The Broadway play was coming to my hometown with Donny Osmond as Joseph. I was so excited. However, it was worth the blackmail that video could be used for now. Donny was amazing!!!

  431. Nikki Davidson December 2, 2011 at 1:27 pm #

    Legos, legos, LEGO!

  432. Adriana L. December 2, 2011 at 1:25 pm #

my favorite gift was a real cash register my mom found at a garage sale. I was never really into dolls and liked pretending to be a teacher, mom, store owner, etc. The register even printed out receipts!!

  433. Teena December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm #

A boxed set of the Chronicles of Narnia. It’s battered and tattered, but I still have it and can’t wait until my three kids are a bit older so I can share the set with them!

  434. Kristen December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm #

It was a cardboard grocery store. It seemed so big and wonderful to me. It wasn’t until I was in college that my mom told me it was from my aunt and uncle… She surely told me as a child, but in my memory it was a lavish gift from Santa!

  435. Beth December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm #

My sweet holly hobbie doll. I still love that girl.

  436. Christy Curtis December 2, 2011 at 1:23 pm #

Without a doubt, the Barbie Dream House changed my life! It was the most amazing Christmas gift as a kid. I think I love nesting, decorating, rearranging my furniture, and changing my clothes repeatedly because of that single, glorious gift.

  437. Samantha N. December 2, 2011 at 1:22 pm #

My favorite gift was my own stereo for my room! I think I didn’t leave my room for awhile. I loved “blasting” my music!

  438. Olga P. December 2, 2011 at 1:22 pm #

As a child (one of 11) I would always be excited when Christmas time came. We lived in Russia back then (15years ago) and Christmas is on January 7th of every year. My dad was the one that would go and get the gifts. He would have to go early in the morning and come back around 6pm. It was a bit of a travel for him but he did it every year. He brought home a HUGE bag of presents (for all eleven of us) in it was chocolate, mandarines, and sometimes chocolate eggs with a toy inside of them(those were special) I remeber each child would get about 5 or 6 mandarines, 1 chocolate egg with toy, and a couple of chocolate bars. Since our family had to save up the whole year for a Christmas present like this, we were SO happy every single year… Even though every year we got the same presents. Love these memories!

  439. Tami December 2, 2011 at 1:21 pm #

My favorite toy was a stuffed bear that had a music box in his back. When he stopped working, I was broken hearted. My dad did ‘surgery’ on him and I colored and cut out a heart so he could still live, and then dad sewed him up. I still have him.

  440. Alissa December 2, 2011 at 1:19 pm #

My favorite gift was a Barbie Townhouse. It was so cool with the yellow elevator. My daughter uses the furniture that came with it now for her own Barbies.

  441. LauraH December 2, 2011 at 1:19 pm #

My favorite was the year I got my bike! It was a big bike with 3 speeds! I was so excited!

  442. Renee December 2, 2011 at 1:17 pm #

A play kitchen that my mother designed / wallpapered / painted herself. Love.

  443. danielle m. December 2, 2011 at 1:16 pm #

I actually dont remember any gifts that I got as a child but I do remember the family trips we took to Tennessee and Florida every year for Christmas!!

  444. Cindy December 2, 2011 at 1:15 pm #

One year a wealthy uncle from New York sent me a big box from FAO Schwartz. It contained a baby bathinette that actually squirted water so you could give your babies a good bath. What fun I had playing with that wonderful toy. I have never seen another one like it!

  445. Jenn December 2, 2011 at 1:13 pm #

My hope chest… actually it was a toy box when I received it, then it turned into my hope chest and now it’s a blanket chest! Shaped like a bench with storage underneath!

  446. Suzanne Manlove December 2, 2011 at 1:12 pm #

My favorite gift as a child was when my brother got his Playmobile set. We played with that for days and days. Not really my gift, but that’s the one that I remember the most.

  447. Sarah C December 2, 2011 at 1:12 pm #

I don’t know if it was the best, but it was my favorite gift as a child – a baby Rainbow Bright doll. To this day I can’t remember what her actual name was, but I loved that doll.

  448. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 1:11 pm #

my favorite Christmas gift as a child was my favorite baby doll, who I named Ruby

    loved her!

  449. Tara December 2, 2011 at 1:11 pm #

Our trampoline!! We LOVED that thing until it blew away in a hurricane! And my parents did a whole scavenger hunt thing and went so far as to put cotton in the tree above it (b/c Santa had to stop and test it out before he left… and darn if his beard didn’t get stuck up there!) AND put some gnawed up carrots (thanks to our dog) on the back deck so we thought that the reindeer didn’t like the butt ends of our carrots! Such great memories!

  450. Graham Gal December 2, 2011 at 1:10 pm #

The very best Christmas gift I ever received was my little sister! My older sister and I prayed for years that God would give mommy & daddy another baby. And, to their surprise, He answered our prayer with a sweet girl.

  451. Bethany December 2, 2011 at 1:09 pm #

I think I would have to say my favorite gift was my older sister Allison and my paper doll sets we got when we were about 8 and 10. We spent hours and hours cutting out all the outfits and accessories and hours upon hours setting up house. By that time we normally were too tired to play, but had so much fun every time.

  452. Lydia December 2, 2011 at 1:08 pm #

It would be a sort of drawing lap pad….kind of hard to describe. But it had paper on it that you could roll and tear off when you were done drawing and it came with stencils and cool things like that.

  453. Christie December 2, 2011 at 1:07 pm #

Hmmm. That’s a tough one. The first one that jumps to mind is a set of twin Cabbage Patch dolls. I adored them, and now, my daughter loves playing with them. So grateful that my mom saved them so I can relive those fun memories through my own children.

  454. Brook December 2, 2011 at 1:05 pm #

My favorite gift was a kitchen set. My Dad was going to make one for us, but was working so much he didn’t have time. Our kind neighbor had made a kitchen set for each of his granddaughters for Christmas and felt like he should make an extra one. On Christmas Eve he saw my Dad working on our front porch starting to build one and he told my Dad we could have his extra kitchen set. That gift has always been a true reminder of what Christmas is all about and that the Lord is aware of us all and blesses us through others…that was a long comment :)

  455. Jen Hartranft December 2, 2011 at 1:04 pm #

One of my most memorable Christmas gifts as a child was our puppy. Our parents totally surprised us by allowing the puppy to wake each of us up on Christmas morning. He was the family dog for years after that.

  456. Wanda Pray December 2, 2011 at 1:04 pm #

Hands down, favorite toy was the baby we could feed and change her diaper!
I was always begging my dad to go buy diapers for her. Who knew I would have a lifetime of feeding and changing diapers with five kids? Hubby gets the diapers now…dad was off the hook a loooooooong time ago ;-)

I have a hard time picking out a gift that really stood out, so I’ll share a gift my sister and I gave – unknowingly – to our father. He was away on an aircraft carrier for an almost year long cruise, so my mother taped (yes, cassette taped, remember those?!) our whole Christmas morning reaction and mailed it to him, with the addition of us singing carols and wishing him Merry Christmas. We got to listen to it again years later and just laughed and laughed at our young voices. Having children now (both grown and little) makes me realize how much that tape meant to him.
Thank you for this wonderful giveaway.

  458. cindi m December 2, 2011 at 1:01 pm #

the best christmas gift i received was the big barbie head where you could put on makeup and do her hair.

  459. Amanda Turley December 2, 2011 at 12:58 pm #

The very best gift I’ve ever received was a homemade quilt made by my Grammy Bates out of fabrics that I remember seeing on her. I still have the quilt and cherish it. And when I really am having a bad day, or not feeling well, snuggling up in it makes me feel like she’s right there helping me feel better. It’s also helped me appreciate the amazing spirit that comes with homemade gifts. Early in my marriage my husband handed me my Christmas eve package (we do jammies) It was huge and bulky and all I thought was “if he got me a robe…” (lol) when I opened it, I just started crying. He had had our sister in law make me a quilt that mimiced the one she made him years ago but instead of black and red, mine was pink and white. ( I was always steeling his) As soon as I saw it I knew it was made and given with lots of love.

i’ll never forget the year i got my american girl doll, kirsten. i had dreamed of having her, paging through the catalog for what felt like so long. i played with her for years & years…and now my daughter enjoys her, too!

  461. Gayle Warner December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was the record player I received in 1959. It was the old, box type, with the cover that locked and the handle to carry it. I used that record player until I was out of high school in 1971. I wish I still had it!

  462. Selina December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

The best Christmas gift I ever received was a beautiful dollhouse built from scratch by my Dad. I have it to this day, and even though I have two little boys I’m hoping to be able to share it with some little girl someday.

  463. Diana December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

This is going to sound cheesy, but I honestly cannot remember the best gift I got at Christmas when I was a child…and I’m only 29. I was going to say that’s sad, but I don’t think it is. I do remember the traditions we did as a family and those moments I remember well. So, I guess I can say the best Christmas gift I got was a family that loved me and raised me to love others. Those are the moments I want to share with my 2 year old son :)

  464. Claire December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

My favorite gift as a child… I would have to say the LadyBug babydoll stroller. My grandfather bought and put it together for me (I was 5), he passed away that january. I still have it and my 2 year old plays with it. It is brittle and broken but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it. I snapped a picture of my son and my father playing with it over Thanksgiving. I’ll give my dad the photo for Christmas. It just makes my heart smile.

  465. susan isaacson December 2, 2011 at 12:54 pm #

My very favorite Christmas present as a child was receiving a brand new doll! We were extremely poor as a family, and one year we all received beautiful brand new dolls! They even took a picture of us with our opened presents! I was 6 years old. The funny part of this story is that my sister decided to alter her doll by putting lipstick on her doll and cutting her hair. She used a razor to try to get it off. And so, since her doll was ruined and mine still looked good, she ended up altering mine! We laugh about this. But that was a very special Christmas.

  466. Donna December 2, 2011 at 12:52 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift as a child? hmm…I have a lot of favorites, so I’ll just pick one! I really liked the big bean bag I got one year!

  467. Alicia December 2, 2011 at 12:52 pm #

I remember receiving Barbie’s Soda Shoppe…with a real working soda fountain!! I love the Land of Nod and my son, Harrison, does, too. He’s been carrying around the Christmas mail-out for several days.

  468. megan December 2, 2011 at 12:52 pm #

I LOVE Land of Nod!! They have beautiful toys! Plan on doing all my little one’s shopping thru them this Christmas. I think my favorite christmas present was my Barbie swimming pool, loved Barbie.

My sister and I got baby dolls, my mom had just had a baby so we thought it was magical that we got babies of our own.

  470. Joy h. December 2, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

My most favorite gift I received as a child was a large strawberry shortcake rag doll. It showed up under the tree unwrapped, Christmas morning with a note pinned to her dress. “Santa” said he was looking for a little girl to love this special doll and please take good care of her. The note was signed, “Love, Santa.” I loved that my Dad, a non-verbally affectionate person wrote this note and tried to disguise his handwriting. I was just on the brink of not believing in Santa and knew it was my Dad. That doll meant the world to me because of what it represented. I kept that note in my bible up until 5 years ago and cried when I lost it. Fun memory:)

  471. Shannon December 2, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

My favorite gift was a Swatch phone that let you have 2 people on the same phone at once. As a teenage girl, that was mind blowing. We saw it in Tomorrowland at Disney World (2 hour drive from home) and then did not see it anywhere else. My mom told me that I shouldn’t expect it for Christmas but maybe at my Birthday in April. I was so disappointed. But on Christmas morning it was there under the tree. My Dad had driven from work to Orlando, got into the park and got the phone for me. I couldn’t believe that he would do that. But now I have my own daughter and I’d do it for her… full circle moment :)

  472. Mrs.BigTime December 2, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

My dad surprised me with a Samantha American Girl doll one Christmas, and I was blown away! I had been drooling over the catalogue for a long time and I finally had one of my own! What’s better, is that later in the year, he took me to an American Girl tea party and fashion show in Santa Barbara – just him, me and Samantha. Perfect! :)

  473. lara December 2, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

I got a yellow kitchen set – a little stove, fridge, and dishwasher. I loved that little set!

We always had wonderful Christmases but I always loved the fancy party dress that my mom would include with our gifts! Next to that, I’d say I loved the 16″ bikes my mom got my sister and I. We rode everywhere on those bikes!

My favorite gift from Christmas when I was a child was a Pound puppy with white spots. These where such a big hit in my house and last year I was able to find them for my kids too. Theres no better feeling then giving your child a gift that you remember getting when you where a child. Merry Christmas

  477. Lesley December 2, 2011 at 12:47 pm #

The Land of Nod is wonderful!!! Thanks for offering this for someone! My favorite gift for Christmas growing up was a real “live” baby doll. It looked and felt as real as could be, and I loved getting to take care of it. Now I get to take care of 3 very real little ones each day!!! :)

  478. Maggie Sola December 2, 2011 at 12:46 pm #

By far the best gift I loved getting was Rikki my Cabbage Patch Doll!!! Remember when our moms and dads would have to them down back in the day. It was crazy!

he best Christmas was when I was about 10 and I asked for a hoola hoop for Christmas. My mom and my dad both bought me one separately and although I think they felt bad that they got me the same thing, I LOVED it! You can’t have too much of what you ask for!

  485. Jannell Barefoot December 2, 2011 at 12:42 pm #

My favorite was my Kenner Spirograph when I was eight or nine. I loved it!!!
I confess that I recently bought the same one on ebay…probably for a lot more that it was back then because it’s now considered vintage!

The original Nintendo with Super Mario Bothers and Duck Hunt. We were fairly poor, my Dad was raising me by himself. I have no idea how he scraped the money together. I never even got another game for it ~the $ wasn’t there, but how I LOVED it! One of my most favorite Christmas memories!

Strawberry Shortcake! I still have her (29 years later!) and every time I pull her from my box of old memories, her delicious strawberry smell brings me right back to that Christmas morning – twinkling Christmas tree lights, still dark outside, my brother and I stealthily making our way around the tree as to not wake mom and dad! My most favorite Christmas memory!

  488. Lindsey December 2, 2011 at 12:37 pm #

my dad built me a rocking when i was two and now my son has it!

  489. Kristi December 2, 2011 at 12:36 pm #

My favorite gift was a dollhouse handcrafted by my dad and mom.

  490. briana December 2, 2011 at 12:36 pm #

I don’t know if it was the very best, but it was the most memorable…a chalkboard. I really, really wanted one.

  491. Kathy December 2, 2011 at 12:34 pm #

I love the Land of Nod too! My favorite gift was probably my Cabbage Patch doll. My aunt went out on black Friday many years ago just to score a deal on one because my mom couldn’t afford one. She even found one with my same name! It was really special to me and a huge surprise, because I didn’t think I’d ever have one. We didn’t usually get the most popular toys because they were so expensive.

  492. Jenna December 2, 2011 at 12:32 pm #

My Best Christmas gift that I remember was my little people doll house. I played with that thing for years!

  493. Bethany Melroe December 2, 2011 at 12:32 pm #

To be honest, I don’t remember ONE toy as being the very best but I do still carry with me the traditions (eating lutefisk and going to candlelight service) as the very best present of Christmas!

  494. kristine halsey December 2, 2011 at 12:32 pm #

I would have to say now that I am grown I can see the best gift…and the only one I really remember…is the gift of being taught that Christmas is about Christ being sent to humanity because of God’s love and grace. I hope to pass this gift on to my children.

  495. Tammy December 2, 2011 at 12:30 pm #

My favorite gift was a bike after my parents had convinced me there was no way I would be able to get a bike that year. The memory of sheer excitement and joy of seeing that bike on Christmas morning still makes me smile.

  496. Clarissa December 2, 2011 at 12:30 pm #

Hmmm…my favorite gift was my Samantha American doll. I really wanted Felicity but we could afford her and for some reason Samantha was cheaper. I felt lucky to have one at all and she was so pretty!

  497. Sarah December 2, 2011 at 12:29 pm #

One year my dad made us a two-story wooden “clubhouse”. it wasn’t finished on Christmas day so he drew a picture of it for us. Now, my kids play on the clubhouse when we visit Nana and Grandpa!

  499. Kimberly December 2, 2011 at 12:29 pm #

I know there were many. but the one that sticks out most in my mind was my Cabbage Patch doll with Growing Hair! I LOVED to do hair, and really enjoyed doing hers.

  500. Christy H December 2, 2011 at 12:29 pm #

I loved my AG Bear I received when I was 6 years old.

  501. Christine December 2, 2011 at 12:29 pm #

My favorite Christmas present ever was a fisher price art easel. I was so excited to come out Christmas morning to find a huge wrapped present with my name on it!

  502. Heidi Bray December 2, 2011 at 12:28 pm #

The best gift I received as a child would have to be a Land Before Time Littlefoot stuffed animal. It was the softest thing I had ever felt at the time. And yes, I was an 80’s child so this was huge to me. I called him Dino-a la the Flintstones :)
    Happy Holidays to you Emily!

  503. Brooke December 2, 2011 at 12:25 pm #

My favorite gifts were books. Two of which were Stuart Little and Little House in the Big Woods which I have had the pleasure of reading to my little girl this year.
    Brooke

  504. Benjamina December 2, 2011 at 12:25 pm #

My sister and I received the Barbie house when we were six and seven. It was the best present ever. It had a tub that bubbled the water and we thought it was awesome.

  505. Debbie O December 2, 2011 at 12:24 pm #

My favorite gift was special satchel school bag from my grandparents in Illinois. I think I was 8 or 9 years old. It came through the post brown wrapped and tied in string and for some reason I still remember it and think of the love and care they took in choosing it just for me. They were not of great financial means and I knew it was a special gift for them as well. I am misty eyed as I write this.

  506. Katie Boggs December 2, 2011 at 12:24 pm #

Love the toy ideas from Land of Nod! Favorite childhood Christmas gift was a toss up: my Mom spent hours on end, building & decorating a beautiful doll house for me that was waiting by my stocking as a surprise Christmas morning – she went all out, even wallpapered the walls in each room and had it decorated so cute. The love & time she poured into it were so evident, and I played with that house for years! Now my own children play with it too. That same year, my dear Grandmother had a special doll hand-made by a friend of hers. She took me with her when she placed the order, and had me pick out the fabric for the doll’s clothes, the hair color, ect… such a thoughtful, extra-special gift from my dear grandma! I guess the gifts that always mean the most, are those given with lots of love! :)

  507. Alexis December 2, 2011 at 12:23 pm #

Such cute gift ideas! My favorite gift that I remember was a bike with a bell. I rode that bike all day long and rung my bell on every street! I’m sure the neighbors loved it too!

  508. Debbie December 2, 2011 at 12:23 pm #

best Christmas gift… humm. Its hard since my birthday and Christmas are close together.

well one of my gifts I still have is a teddy bear from my uncle david. I called the teddy David.

It would probably have to be a Pound Puppy!

  512. Brooke Barker December 2, 2011 at 12:21 pm #

My first pair of clip on earrings. They were hot pink stars, and I wore them til my ears bled. The pain we go through for beauty!

  513. angelia December 2, 2011 at 12:21 pm #

I think I was about 10 years old when Santa brought me a very small tape player/boombox. I thought I was SO big!

  514. Kathleen B December 2, 2011 at 12:21 pm #

Sounds wierd and I don’t know exactly what it is called…but it was kind of like a plastic bug maker…I hold molds and would put in this liquid stuff in the molds and then cook it in a little play oven. After a little bit I would have plastic bugs! I LOVED it!

  515. becky lynn December 2, 2011 at 12:21 pm #

I am not sure, but I would guess the year I got a barbie pool or the year I got a pound puppy. Its a tie!

  516. Angela December 2, 2011 at 12:20 pm #

I would say my favorite Christmas gift was a cabbage patch doll when they we a hot commodity. It had to have been the ugliest one they had but I still can’t believe my parents were able to get one!

  517. Gina December 2, 2011 at 12:19 pm #

  522. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 12:18 pm #

My favourite Christmas gift as a kid was Whitney Houston’s cassette tape “I want to dance with somebody”. I remember dancing around my grandparents house all day with a spoon in my hand singing. I don’t remember when I had more free-spirited fun as a child than that day.

  523. Shirley Clark December 2, 2011 at 12:16 pm #

As a kid, I loved playing with dolls. My aunt used to always send us a whole box of stuff at Christmas. One Christmas she bought me a tiny little doll about 5″ tall, and she handmade some little clothes for it. I loved that little doll, and I played with it for years until one of the legs broke off.
My aunt died a couple of years ago, and I miss her so much.

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

My most magical Christmas morning was when I was 3 years old and Santa brought me a kitchen! All the food and dishes were laid out like I was in a store made especially for me! I think this is the year for my daughter have the same experiance. She’s 4(summer baby, I am winter baby) so I’m really excited!

  540. Kelly P December 2, 2011 at 12:02 pm #

The best gift I ever received was from my mom. It was the year my parents divorced and my mom was broke (I only realized this later, of course) so the Christmas budget was minimal. She was out shopping and came across a beautiful stuffed animal monkey that was not on my list and would basically take all the money she set aside for me, but she just knew I’d love it. She thought about it for days, then finally went back for it. She was absolutely right. I love that darn monkey (Goliath) so much I have slept with him every single night for the last 25 years. Not sure I sure really be admitting that as a 33 year old I still sleep with a stuffed monkey, but it’s true. I’m lucky that my hubs tolerates it ;-)

  541. Ashlee December 2, 2011 at 12:02 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a Cabbage Patch doll (Carrie) that I got when I was 5 years old from my mom. I just had my first baby (a girl!) this summer and can’t wait until she’s old enough to inherit my Cabbage Patch doll and get one of her own! :)

  542. angie December 2, 2011 at 12:02 pm #

Fun giveaway! Love Land of Nod. My favorite gift would have to be my Cabbage Patch Doll. This was way back when people were trampling each other in malls to get one. Santa brought one for me, one for my sister. We were over the moon that year!

  546. Michele December 2, 2011 at 12:00 pm #

Every Christmas was magical– but the year I got my Cabbage Patch Kid was probably the best…especially now that I know how hard my parents hunted and schemed to find them for my sister and I!

  547. katie December 2, 2011 at 11:59 am #

One Christmas I woke up to find Samantha, the American girl doll I had wanted with her books. And the best surprise was a trunk full of hand made doll clothes made by my Granny and her sister. It’s a gift I still treasure.

  551. Janna H December 2, 2011 at 11:57 am #

My parents got me an electric keyboard when I was in junior high that I can still use now 15 years later but the most fun part about it was how they presented it to me. I opened up a small package from underneath the Christmas tree that had a clue in it that led me to another present so while we were wondering around the house and neighborhood looking for it they got it ready for me in my room. So fun and so thoughtful!

  552. Tracy December 2, 2011 at 11:56 am #

My mom always knew the perfect gift to give me at Christmas. I usually asked for Cabbage Patch dolls or My Little Ponies (I’m a product of the 1980s). One year, though, my mom gave me and my family the best Christmas gift ever – my youngest sister! :)

As a child, I was given a rocking chair, that was actually already mine, but had been repainted in a bright red, so it looked brand new. I still have that rocking chair. The same year, I also received my very first sleeping bag, which was a really big deal to me. Loved it. And then of course my diamond ring as my husband proposed 14 years ago…

  560. Jennifer December 2, 2011 at 11:49 am #

The very best gift I got was my cabbage patch doll. Shawna Jenkins. I still have her and after being washed several hundred MILLION ZILLION times, she still smells like powder. (My others do not) She had several hair cuts and ears pierced and her pacifier is long gone. But Shawna Jenkins lives in the playroom at my parents house. I pick her up every time I am there!

  572. Summer Wilda December 2, 2011 at 11:38 am #

My Aunt made all of us a rag doll type of doll – similar to the cute ones that you make – BUT they were as tall as we were! (Kindergarten age) We LOVED them as they were ‘built in’ friends. I am pretty sure I still have her in my cedar chest.

  573. Denise Ocker December 2, 2011 at 11:36 am #

Ok I know this may sound very different, but the Christmas I remember most was the year my Dad got me 2 baby calves for Christmas! I was so proud of them and loved bottle feeding them it we had them and there offspring for many yrs later and during those difficult teenage yrs I would go sit in the barn and talk to them and I always felt better when I left! I guess it was because they listened and didn’t judge me!!

  574. Danielle Bartran December 2, 2011 at 11:35 am #

Without a doubt, my favorite childhood gift was Peaches & Cream Barbie {circa 1986ish, given by my Aunt Lynn.} Hours of endless love for that Barbie…I think she is currently living in my parents attic, and I saw they are selling her again at Target!

  575. LIB December 2, 2011 at 11:35 am #

the one that poppedinto my mind was teeny. A colorful beaded barrette hidden away adn the last to be opened – from my aunt. to me. not to share. just a special little thing letting me know I was noticed and cared for and not just part of a really big family.
that my individual needs/wants were important.
    So sweet!

I just adored the Cabbage Patch Kids my mother made us BY HAND. These dolls were nearly impossible to find in stores because everyone wanted them. It was even sweeter knowing that she tried unsuccessfully to buy them. She wanted us to have them, so made beautiful dolls that even looked like us. Ahh…mommy love!

Totally Long Hair Barbie…When I was 10 my dad was very sick with Hodgkins and he was not working being so sick. Our church family came to our home on Christmas with gifts for my sister, brother and I. That Christmas sticks in my head as what Christmas truly is about, Sharing God’s love and being selfless. Now we do the same as a family for others each Christmas. Thank you Lord for your many blessing!

  590. Bernadette December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am #

The Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Horse was my favorite gift. I still have it and love it because my dad bought it for me from the used book store despite the fact that it was too expensive for my parents’ Christmas budget.

  591. Christina E December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am #

definitely an American Girl doll…I could have sworn that Samantha and I were soul sisters when I was about 8!

  592. Stevie December 2, 2011 at 11:27 am #

My dad once gave me a mini hot air balloon. It was basically a giant basket I could fit inside tied up with a bunch of big balloons and he had filled it with a few “friends” – stuffed animals. I would climb in to that thing all the time- even after bed time- as a first grader and pretend to travel all over. I hope I can do that with my kiddos some day too!

  593. CFB December 2, 2011 at 11:26 am #

I loved my American Girl doll – Molly – who had glasses just like me!

  594. Ashley December 2, 2011 at 11:24 am #

I know that I am complete nerd, but my favorite christmas gift as a kid was the typewriter I received when I was 12!

  595. Anna Joy December 2, 2011 at 11:24 am #

I used to cry and cry because I always wanted a dog. But there were three of us kids and we were pretty little (who can blame my mom?). When I was 7 years old, I got a dalmatian calendar for Christmas and on the front was a post-it note that said, “I hope you can think of a good name for me because I’m coming home next week. Love, the new puppy.” Her name was Emmylou, and even though she was the family dog, I always said that since the note came on MY present, she was mostly mine :)

  596. Nona December 2, 2011 at 11:24 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was when I was five. My mom gave me a pair of red and silver pom-poms, and I looooooooved them. I never ended up being a cheerleader, but those pom-poms were a hit and I lovingly used them to make up my own routine for years.

  597. Kara Brown December 2, 2011 at 11:21 am #

I loved the year my parents got us snow skis. It was something I grew up doing from the time I was 5 years old. I remember the first little pair of skis I got on that Christmas and the trip up to Tahoe shortly after the holidays to try them out! The memories made with the beginning of a family hobby we all did together far outweighed any big TOY or fleeting thing I wouldn’t be interested in a month later… Don’t know if I can top that from Land of Nod toys but I LOVE their store, and have been looking at getting my girls new duvets from there (…in YELLOW, their favorite color!), so I know this would be awesome!!!

  598. Amanda A December 2, 2011 at 11:19 am #

A couple of years ago I watched Christmas home movies with my family…it wasn’t too awful. What I remember the most was the delight I had as a child in any and every gift I opened Christmas morning. There are still some gifts that stand out in my mind, but I really look forward to seeing the same delight in my sons eyes and being able to share those memories with him when he is older.

  599. Corrine December 2, 2011 at 11:17 am #

My favorite? That would have to be the homemade cabbage patch doll complete with her own wardrobe, all homemade. Great memories!

  600. Savannah K. December 2, 2011 at 11:17 am #

The best Christmas gift i got as a young girl was probably a….. Shadow art set. I loved it….=)

  604. Whitney December 2, 2011 at 11:15 am #

Best gift I ever got was a cabbage patch doll. It was sometime in my childhood, can’t remember the year, but my mom ha managed to convince us girls there was no way we could afford the dolls and to stop asking for it. I was so surprised when I opened the box to find my very own cabbage patch doll.

  605. andrea rade December 2, 2011 at 11:14 am #

My favorite christmas gift as a child was my American Girl doll! We had a rule in our house that you had to read the American Girl doll book before you could have the doll. I remember working so hard to get through that book!

  606. Heather December 2, 2011 at 11:13 am #

    a unicorn blanket!

  607. RachaelB December 2, 2011 at 11:13 am #

When I was little, I loved spending time at my Grandma’s house. The only children’s book she owned was The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein. I “read” that book so much the pages started to wear away, but I loved it. She died when I was about 10, and the book was misplaced or thrown out. A couple years later, a close childhood friend gave me the same book as a gift! I must have mentioned to her that it was one of my favorites because it reminded me of my Grandma. It was probably one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received, because she gave me a piece of her back with that book.

  608. Elizabeth S. December 2, 2011 at 11:13 am #

Oh wow – how generous of them (and it would make getting the stroller for our little ones possible!)!
My most loved present was the play kitchen that my aunt and uncle gave to my sister and me one year. It came with dishes, play food, aprons and everything! I remember playing with it for hours – cooking, talking on the phone … it was awesome!

  609. Laura December 2, 2011 at 11:12 am #

My two favorite Christmas gifts as a child were 1) my first bike. It was purple and pink and glittery! and 2) my first walkman!

  612. Liz Allen December 2, 2011 at 11:10 am #

The best Christmas gift I received as a child was when I was about 7. It was a Gabage Patch Kid with yellow yarn hair that looked like me.

  613. Michelle Webster December 2, 2011 at 11:10 am #

My favorite Christmas present was an American Girl Doll, Samantha. I still have her and now my daughter’s and I can play with her.

  614. Hayden December 2, 2011 at 11:09 am #

Wow! How to pick just one! I would have to say my most favorite gift was a dollhouse that I had been dreaming about. My parents had it made for me just for Christmas!

  615. Heather December 2, 2011 at 11:07 am #

cabbage patch dolls!!! i would play with them for hours. especially the ones with the stiff hair you could curl.

  617. Shannon December 2, 2011 at 11:07 am #

I love the Land of Nod, it’s where all my neices and nephews will be getting gifts this year!
The best gift I ever got as a kid was a fisher price Washer/Dryer Combo. It had a toploading washer with a basket, a front loading dryer and an ironing board that pulled out of the side. My family lost clothes for weeks after I got it because I was always “doing laundry.” Ha!

  618. ashley December 2, 2011 at 11:06 am #

  619. jane wood December 2, 2011 at 11:06 am #

  620. Jen December 2, 2011 at 11:05 am #

My very favorite Christmas gift as a child was the year that mom made beautiful barbie clothes for my sister and I. We each had at least 10 new outfits for our barbies. We were so excited!

  623. jane wood December 2, 2011 at 11:03 am #

The best Christmas present I ever got was a little scottie dog at age 6 in 1958. I loved that little dog. I got it from the neighbor across the street and kept it til it fell apart. My very first stuffed animal!

  624. maren December 2, 2011 at 11:02 am #

My favorite was a big wooden barbie house. I also loved the year I got my cabbage patch doll. Fun memories!

  625. Julie December 2, 2011 at 11:01 am #

I don’t remember having one present that ever outdid the rest. One that sticks out in my mind however, is a Teddy Ruxpin bear that I thought was pretty awesome. It told stories, and sang, had a moving mouth and blinking eyes! They still make them! They’re that cool. :) Merry Christmas everyone!

  626. Madge December 2, 2011 at 11:01 am #

wow, this’ll be a dead give-away of my age…haha. but all in the name of a 75 dollar gift card, lezzz do it! i was rooting for a walking doll that opens and closes her eyes but all i got was a Raggedy Ann doll. i was pissed at first but i fell in love with her only after a short while. amazing, because to this day, i still have her.:)

Thanks Emily, and Land of Nod for this opportunity!

  630. Anna December 2, 2011 at 11:00 am #

I love your site! I have quite a few of your prints in my home and they’re beautiful and encouraging. For sure, I’ve always been attracted to Land of Nod products. What a fun giveaway.

I always loved the baby dolls and fun toys I recieved, but now looking back I know, the best Christmas present I ever recieved was finding out 2 days before Christmas that my mom was cancer free (after 2 years of battling)! I am so thankful the Lord healed her and she is still with our family.

Merry Christmas to you and yours this season!!
    Anna

  631. Jolene December 2, 2011 at 10:58 am #

  632. Stacie December 2, 2011 at 10:58 am #

I would have to say my bouncy horse when I was 1! I don’t actually remember getting it but, my sisters and I all enjoyed it then it went to some younger friends for them to enjoy and is now back at Grandma and Grandpas for the grandchildren to enjoy! I love seeing my children playing with all of the toys my sisters and I had so many fun times with!

  635. Kara December 2, 2011 at 10:57 am #

My favorite Christmas present, especially looking back, was the gift of time with loved ones. My aunt was dying from cancer and she lived through Christmas and did not make it to the next. I was 13 when she passed away and it truly is one of my most cherished Christmas gifts-we were very close. Now that I am older, my childhood toys pale in comparison:)

  636. Carl December 2, 2011 at 10:56 am #

Would have to be my remote contol car!

  637. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 10:55 am #

  641. Rachel {polkadots and puppies} December 2, 2011 at 10:54 am #

Oh, yay! I adore everything they sell! Hmm, my fave gift would probably be the Polly Pockets I received when I was six :)

  642. Kara December 2, 2011 at 10:54 am #

I am pretty sure I was 9 years old and my grandparents gave my brothers and me Pipeworks. They were PVC pipes with joints and various attachments. They were basically like having life size tinkertoys. We made a chariot and car that we could ride on, a house, a wagonand many more things I can no longer remember. Nothing compares to that Christmas present as a child.

  643. Jenn December 2, 2011 at 10:53 am #

The best gift I received as a child was an indoor slide with a little cut out space. I loved hiding in the small space that was just my size.

  644. Ali T December 2, 2011 at 10:52 am #

My grandpa built me a dollhouse that looked just like our house growing up, and my mom furnished one of the bedrooms in the dollhouse to look similar to my bedroom. I still have it in storage, just waiting for my future little girl.

  645. TCobb December 2, 2011 at 10:52 am #

Oh, my goodness! I love the Land of Nod stuff! My favorite gift I received as a child was my “pot-belly bear.” I slept with that bear every night till the end of my senior year of high school when one of my friends decided it was time for a new bear and gave me a little brown bear with a leather nose.

  646. Michelle December 2, 2011 at 10:51 am #

I remember getting a bunny one year…named her Cinnamon!

  647. Angie Kauffman December 2, 2011 at 10:50 am #

I would have to say my favorite Christmas gift wasn’t a package wrapped on Christmas day, but it came a few weeks before Dec. 25. My youngest sister was born almost 15 years ago in the month of December. She is the best “Christmas gift” I have ever received. (Btw I have another great sister, but she wasn’t born near Christmas) :)

  648. LauraLee December 2, 2011 at 10:49 am #

I got a Christmas mug in my stocking that is still my favorite. I drank my coffee out of it today. I might not have fully appreciated it then, but it’s a great momento from my childhood.

  649. Lisa December 2, 2011 at 10:49 am #

I’m sure I didn’t appreciate it when I opened it, but what turned out to be one of my favorite gifts that I’ll always remember was a boxed set of the Anne of Green Gables series. I totally lost myself in reading them all over Christmas vacation and still love those stories!

  650. Christy December 2, 2011 at 10:48 am #

I didn’t get many Christmas presents as a child, but I remember getting a doll with red, strawberry-smelling hair hair one year. If you squeezed her tummy, she blew kisses. :)

I am a huge Land of Nod fan! Their products are classic, but modern.

  651. Janna December 2, 2011 at 10:47 am #

Hmmm….you’d think this would be easier. I think the best Christmas gift I received was a big stuffed dog I named Hoggie Doggie. I still have him (at my parents house) and will be bringing him home this Christmas to put in our nursery.

  652. Traci Severson December 2, 2011 at 10:47 am #

The best christmas gift I received as a child was Merlin. I wanted that “electronic” game so badly and I got it! Wow how far we’ve come in all those years with electronics!

  653. Arlene December 2, 2011 at 10:47 am #

The very best Christmas gift I ever received as a child was a Ragedy Ann doll that my sweet grandmother handmade and hand embroidered for me. She is still my childhood treasure. I’m 40 and I still have her. I don’t have any daughters, just boys, so I’m holding on to her for a someday granddaughter.

  654. Delishhh December 2, 2011 at 10:46 am #

The best gift i received as a kid was probably a barbie and a science set. I spent hours and hours on that science set making thing flash and making alarms it was heaven – i still remember.

  655. Katie Sellers December 2, 2011 at 10:45 am #

So funny, I just read a comment and they had the same favorite gift as mine. I received a Cabbage Patch Kid that my mom made. Such an exciting morning for my sister and I — and I never knew the difference!
Thanks for the chance for the gift card, I would definitely be interested in Brady’s pic for my 4.5 year old.

  656. Andrea December 2, 2011 at 10:45 am #

I was obsessed with teddy bears as a kid…and I got a brand new one each year on Christmas morning, mysteriously appearing on my bed overnight!

  657. ~Kristen~ December 2, 2011 at 10:45 am #

My best childhood Christmas gift was my American Girl doll, Samantha. I loved her and played with her for years! She is safely stored away for my little girls to enjoy one day (when her beautiful hair and clothes will not be too forcefully “loved”).

  658. Alyssa December 2, 2011 at 10:44 am #

Although it wasn’t my favorite thing when I received it, I still have the sewing machine my uncle gave me one Christmas and I’ve recently started using it again!

  659. Rachel December 2, 2011 at 10:44 am #

Definitely would have to be my very own shiny red bicycle!

  660. Kate December 2, 2011 at 10:43 am #

The best Christmas Present I ever recieved was finding out I was pregnant with my son. After years and years of infertility treatments…finding out he was on the way just before Christmas was truly a Christmas miracle.

  661. Angie Ewart December 2, 2011 at 10:42 am #

The best Christmas present I ever received was a Barbie doll house that my dad built and my mom decorated! My sister Mel and I loved it and have so many fond memories playing with our barbies in their awesome home! The Barbie house was a two story with four rooms plus a second floor balcony and lower level porch with a porch swing! He even made us a garage. It was truly the best present I have ever received not only because they did a great job building it, but also because they poured many hours into building us the best Christmas present ever!

  662. Patricia McCarthy December 2, 2011 at 10:42 am #

  665. Blake December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

The gift I remember the most was a huge art set with the most amazing paints and brushes. I was 7 or 8 and it really made me feel so grown up.

  666. Patricia December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

A 3 ft. tall doll that was the same size as I. You could even use your clothes for the doll.

  667. Kim S. December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

Barbie dream house- hands down. It was the three story cardboard number with the elevator. I played with it until I was 13, and would still if I could get away with it. Ha!

  668. Melissa B. December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

My fav gift as a child was a Cricket doll, that doll that you put cassette tapes in the back of and she talked. Haha times have changed!

  669. Jen Fedler December 2, 2011 at 10:36 am #

The best Christmas gift I got when I was a little girl was an American Girl doll, which came with a bunch of accessories and some clothes that my mom sewed for her.

  670. Colleen Maestas December 2, 2011 at 10:36 am #

I would have to say my doll house. My dad made it and I loved it. I would set it up on a big table in the garage for my Silvanian Families (now called Calico Critters). I made smaller houses out of shoe boxes and had a whole town. I would play out there for hours and loved it!

  671. Kacy December 2, 2011 at 10:35 am #

Definitely the boom box with Paula Abdul’s Straight Up cassette. And I also loooooved the bag full of about a hundred fortune cookies – I loved those things so much and ate them like crazy while watching movies on snow days. Good times!

  674. Emily C December 2, 2011 at 10:34 am #

My sister made me a doll one Christmas. It’s ugly and very homemade, but it’s special and I’ve never been able to think about parting with it!

  675. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 10:33 am #

One year I got a Better Homes and Gardens doll house. Each set of mod 70’s furniture was wrapped seperately. It had a sectional couch and little potted plants to decorate with. Dreamy!

  676. amy December 2, 2011 at 10:33 am #

a record player and pink fuzzy slippers…for some reason they were in the same box. :0)

  677. Ms. Stork December 2, 2011 at 10:32 am #

My most favorite gift was the a new doll and the doll house. My sister and I would play for hours and hours with them and it would never get old. I love how you could use your imagination and she could be anything you wanted her to be.

  678. KellyW December 2, 2011 at 10:31 am #

I honestly can’t remember one favorite Christmas present as all I can recall are how all 5 of us siblings argued over what time we should wake up our parents to open presents. Then I remember the matching pajamas that we all wore to bed on Christmas Eve. It’s all of the details that I remember, not the presents. But, I will say that every year my parents got us a family gift – one year it was a VCR, another year it was a microwave oven, and another year it was Atari! I love Christmas!

  679. Erin December 2, 2011 at 10:31 am #

Time with my family! My favorite Christmas memories aren’t physical gifts, they are they things my family did together. One year our Christmas present was a trip to Disney World and we got to fly! That was a big deal and it was so much fun!

  680. Brianne December 2, 2011 at 10:31 am #

Wow, a lot of people loved their cabbage patch dolls. I also did. It was one that my mom made it for me. I also really loved getting a pink tackle box loaded with sewing supplies when I was about 6.

  681. Kylie December 2, 2011 at 10:31 am #

The very best Christmas gift I received was a replacement American Girl doll after a dog chewed mine to pieces :)

  687. Katie December 2, 2011 at 10:28 am #

My favorite Christmas gift giving was actually the stockings we got every Christmas. They always had fun socks, new underwear, pajamas, candy, hair things, jewelry, coloring books, pencils, and a small toy. It was the excitement of stockings that always got me out of bed early when I was little, now it is filling and giving the stockings to my children. Still brings sparkles to my eyes just thinking about it!

  688. Aimee Steckowski December 2, 2011 at 10:28 am #

the very best gift i received as a child was when i was 10 my dad made me a simple wooden writing desk out of beautiful pieces of wood — it encouraged me to sit, write, be creative. it has helped to find my purpose in life & now own a small business helping other small businesses. that desk is my nightstand and is a constant reminder of the encouragement i have always received from my parents!

  689. Rebecca Rampton December 2, 2011 at 10:27 am #

Sooo funny that I have read multiple comments above about home made Cabbage Patch dolls! My favorite gift ever was definately a hand made Cabbage Patch doll, made by my clever mother. I named her Heidi. :)

  690. Hayley December 2, 2011 at 10:27 am #

A ballerina doll. She stood up with her bar on her toes and I thought that was AMAZING!

  691. Kara December 2, 2011 at 10:25 am #

  692. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 10:24 am #

The very best gift I received as a child was a dollhouse built by my grandmother. My parents told me it took her weeks to put it all together. It was so special.

  693. Elizabeth B December 2, 2011 at 10:24 am #

The best Christmas gift? I think it would have to be the time spent with family because while I don’t remember most of the gifts, I do remember all the fun hanging out with my parents and brother. So, my memories are the best Christmas gift I got as a child.

I love Land of Nod – this would come in handy because I’m registered there for my first baby due on 4/1/12. :-)

Best gift ever? I’d have to say memory or material is what sticks with me :) I remember one Christmas, my family was all over at my Grandparents’ house, and my cousins and I were all waiting at the top of the stairs Christmas morning before our parents said we could come down. Then I remember playing on the piano and singing Christmas songs.

  695. Sarah W December 2, 2011 at 10:23 am #

My sister and I both got dolls for Christmas one year and they were awesome! They looked so real they fooled people when we took them on trips with us and left them in the car.

  696. alyssa December 2, 2011 at 10:23 am #

My big sister has always spoiled me with the best gifts! I remember being about 6 and getting an easy bake oven from her for christmas! She would always take her own allowance money to buy my gifts! She still knows what I like better than anyone else and makes sure I get it.

  697. Amy December 2, 2011 at 10:23 am #

When I was 5, I got a craft desk from my grandma with a package of washable markers. Well, as she was wrapping it, she accidentaly wrapped her little roll of tape inside with the desk. I remember being so excited about the tape and running around trying to ‘fix’ everything in the house. My grandma has a picture of me (holding the tape up in the air like a prize) on the wall at her house still. :)

Porcelain doll, dressed in green velvet with a white fur lined cape and matching hat. It was the first in my collection and I loved how beautiful she was. :)

  699. Jenell December 2, 2011 at 10:21 am #

not sure…I think at least one of my favorites was the year my mom and dad gave my three sisters and I all some type of a doll buggy, pram or stroller for our baby dolls

  700. Whitney December 2, 2011 at 10:20 am #

This Irish fairy doll — I found it in a magazine at my Grandma’s house over the summer and wanted it so badly for Christmas but I didn’t even know what it was called! My Mom & Grandma tracked it down and I was so excited to find her under the tree on Christmas morning. She had red hair, a green dress and beautiful fairy wings… I still have her! :)

  701. Hannah K December 2, 2011 at 10:20 am #

Every year my mom would fill a box with books I had requested. I couldn’t wait to hole up in my room and read all of them! Definitely the highlight for me, and I give my Littles books now too!

  702. Meg December 2, 2011 at 10:20 am #

My favorite gift was having my military Dad home for Christmas. He was gone for quite a few, but sometimes we were blessed to have him home for the Holidays and that always made it that much more special! :)

  703. Ann December 2, 2011 at 10:19 am #

My mom made me a homeade cabbage patch doll that “looked” like me. I remember seeing her at night working on it and was in awe when I saw the final product! I think it’s even more special to me now that I’m older and understand how much time and love went into it.

  704. Stephanie December 2, 2011 at 10:18 am #

When I was 11 we moved from Washington state across the country to Virginia, and I expected our first Christmas away from our family to be very dismal. One night my parents went out for the evening and returning told us kids to hide in a room until they brought their big surprise in. When we entered the living room, there my two grandparents sat on our couch! I will never forget the thrill and surprise of it, because it truly made Christmas feel right again since we were very close to my grandparents. :) It was definitely my best Christmas present ever!

  705. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 10:18 am #

    Such a GREAT giveaway!!
My favorite gift I remember as a child was a puppy!!
And being a parent now, I realize how much that decision probably cost my parents. They weren’t only giving me the puppy I so desperately wanted they were taking on a responsibility for themselves. I did my best with my puppy, but in the end, who takes care of it – MOM :) Love you Mom & Dad for that gift!!!
And Thanks Emily & Land of Nod for the chance to win!!

  706. Rachel Rathgeber December 2, 2011 at 10:18 am #

My favorite Christmas present when I was a kid was a new cradle for my doll. I used it forever and kind of wish I still had it to give to my daughter.

  707. Becky December 2, 2011 at 10:17 am #

It’s a little embarrassing, but the first gift that pops into my mind was a green suede bomber jacket. I was not so little… maybe middle school and I was SO STINKING excited about it! I loved that jacket… complete with a map inside. :)
And how I love land of Nod. They are so fun and whimsical. What a lovely giveaway!

  708. Ginny December 2, 2011 at 10:17 am #

A red bicycle, with no training wheels! Plus, that year I left out my autograph book, and Santa himself signed it! ;)

  709. Marla December 2, 2011 at 10:17 am #

A cabbage patch doll; at the time they were near impossible to get! I was covered in chicken pox when my mom & dad opened the door with a perfectly wrapped box. When I opened it I will never forget how excited I was and it made me forget how terribly uncomfortable and unhappy I had been! :) Merry Christmas!

  710. Traci December 2, 2011 at 10:15 am #

The best gift that I ever received as a child was a teddy bear that my cousins picked out for me. I got him when I was about 3 or 4 and I still have him (I’m 38). I slept with that bear until I was in college! He’s an heirloom now!

  711. Ronica December 2, 2011 at 10:15 am #

My Grandparents always gave a wooden rocking chair for our first Christmas. Over the years it was used for so many different things. I rocked my dollies to sleep, played church, and watched movies in that chair. Sometimes it even got turned upside down to be part of an obstacle course. Now my 3 year old son enjoys playing with and he knows it is something special from Great Grandpa and Grandma.

  712. Sarah Carpenter December 2, 2011 at 10:15 am #

LOVE my cabbage patch doll that I got when I was 3. It is still at my parents house, and now my nieces get to enjoy playing with her :) That doll has definitely been well loved over the years!

  713. Emily Kilpatrick December 2, 2011 at 10:14 am #

I got a Sony Discman for Christmas when they first came out. I was so surprised and thrilled! I used to listen to it in the car with a pillow on my lap to keep it from skipping.

  714. Jennifer Hodge December 2, 2011 at 10:13 am #

I was fortunate to grow up with parents of considerable means. The very best gift my parents gave me was making me give away my toys every year to someone less fortunate. We all went to a homeless shelter with a huge box of each of our toys and helped the kids there “shop” in our boxes. It was so hard to give those things away, but it was such a powerful lesson. It helped knowing that I’d get all new toys in a few days and seeing the kids so appreciative was wonderful. That said– I honestly don’t remember a single gift except for a little AA boy baby doll I received when I was ~5. It was exactly what I had asked for and even anatomically correct. I loved this boy more than anything…

  715. Kim M. December 2, 2011 at 10:12 am #

My favorite gift I received would have been my cabbage patch doll(one of the travel ones from Holland)! My little sister had a preemie one and her big request to Santa was that she would grow hair magically overnight for christmas! Her preemie did just that…she put the preemie under the tree, and in the morning it was replaced with one with cornsilk hair! We were the happiest girls ever!:)

  716. Karena December 2, 2011 at 10:11 am #

My Aunt Rose took me to the then Katz Drugstore (soda fountain and all) and said I could choose Anything in the entire store for Christmas! I picked a box of 48 Crayola Crayons!! It was the best gift ever.

I think one of mine would be a trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico with my dad. I remember walking around the streets Christmas Eve and getting to see a Church service and how pretty it was.

  718. sarah smith December 2, 2011 at 10:11 am #

Definitely my play kitchen set. My mom even found one just like it for my daughter last year.

  719. Bethany December 2, 2011 at 10:11 am #

The gift I remember most of all was a porcelain doll with bright red lips, green velvet cape, and white fur muff. I thought she was beautiful!

  720. Beth December 2, 2011 at 10:10 am #

I absolutely love Land of Nod – my daughters’ nursery has been a Nod favorite of ours for the past 4 years! A Crate & Barrel owned store provides wonderful bedding and playroom furniture. They have a fabulous outlet located in Oakbrook – loved it more when it was in Northbrook! My favorite children’s toy is the Easy Bake Oven.

Happy shopping, celebrating and most importantly, spending time with family!

  721. Katie Shappi December 2, 2011 at 10:09 am #

The very best Christmas gift I ever received was a handmade Cabbage Patch doll from my mom (She even sewed all the hair on her head :) )

  722. Colleen Parten December 2, 2011 at 10:09 am #

I have 2 that are equal favorites! The first one was when I was 4 and I got an Easy Bake Oven. I remember it like it was yesterday, baking my Dad a little chocolate cake. I was in heaven and it started my love for baking. The second was when I was 8 and I got a Cabbage Patch Doll, (Priscilla), I still remember how she smelled:). The stores were all sold out, so my dad paid a co-worker double for theirs…he was so proud for me to open her up Christmas morning:). I still have her boxed up for my little girl.

  723. susanna internicola December 2, 2011 at 10:09 am #

i’m remembering the christmas when we got a nintendo! can’t top that one!! :)

  724. Sharon Herbitter December 2, 2011 at 10:08 am #

The best Christmas gift I ever got was a horse figurine that I just loved. I collected them because I wanted a horse so bad when I was growing up. This particular one was special because I’d seen it in the store and longed for it.

  725. Bethany Bergen December 2, 2011 at 10:08 am #

A (very-loud, super-cheap) sewing machine, I still have sweet memories of my grandmother teaching me how to use it!

  726. krista farrell December 2, 2011 at 10:07 am #

Probably my most beloved was my cabbage patch doll or my dollhouse…

  727. Kamilli December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

My dad made a huge dollhouse for me….complete with every little detail of a home…dishwasher with tiny little dishes, a toilet, a shower, etc… He used scrap pieces of linoleum and carpet from our own home, so it made it feel like it was my own house–only miniature! I LOVED that thing.

  728. gretchen December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

I would have to say one of the best gifts I got as a child was this rag doll that I named Mary. I still have her to this day, holes and all.

  729. lisa g December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

My favorite gift was my black 10-speed with hot pink handlebars. yeah I said 10-speed. After all it was 1988!

  730. Leah December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

Hmm…that’s a tough one. I loved my baby doll. I named her Candy (yes, I was born in the 80’s) and had a fully stocked diaper bag with real baby food for her. I loved that doll:) Your kids picks are lovely. Those are my favorite types of gifts- imagination required!

  731. Sharon December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

    A frosty the snowman sno-ball maker. :)

  732. Cassandra Pettigrew December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

When i was prob 10 yrs old i went to victorian country christmas with my mom, i fell in love with a porcelain doll… it almost made me cry!! LOL my mom snuck away while i was watching a show and i opened it christmas morning!!

  733. sarah December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

a Christmas porcelain doll. I had seen it in the store and loved it and my dad surprised me and bought it for me as a “just because I love you” gift, which meant a lot since money was tight.

  734. Nicole M. December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

My favorite gift to this day was a baby doll I received when I was five. I remember everything about her. My aunt and uncle (that were neighbors really) gave her to me and I loved her. Took her everywhere.

  735. Carolyn December 2, 2011 at 10:04 am #

Oh wow…I think the best Christmas present I received was an Easy Bake Oven! I was so pumped. It makes so much sense seeing as how I LOVE to bake now (I’v baked three different things in the past 2 days for various events). It was meant to be!

  736. Jamie Wilson December 2, 2011 at 10:04 am #

My first bike was one of my all time favorite gifts. I can still picture coming into the living room and seeing my bike by the tree. I was so excited to show all my friends that afternoon.

  737. Sharon December 2, 2011 at 10:03 am #

My favorite was a baby doll with a complete wardrobe made by my mother.

  738. Karen Wolfe December 2, 2011 at 10:03 am #

My favorite gift was a chemistry set from my dad. He got it for me when I was 11. It would be the last gift he ever got me because he was killed the following spring. :( I still have that chemistry set to this day and I’m 48 now.

  739. Melissa December 2, 2011 at 10:02 am #

I received a doll named “Cricket” who was as big as me and had tape player built into her back. Her eyes and mouth would move along with the talking and singing on the tape. I still have her, but now I just find her creepy instead of magical like I did in 1986.

  740. Erika Herridge December 2, 2011 at 10:02 am #

My favorite gift as a child was my Cabbage Patch doll. I loved her and still have her birth certificate. Weird I know but I just haven’t been able to part with it because I loved her so.

  741. Melissa Leedy December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

My homemade cabbage patch doll….loved it!!

  742. Scooper December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

10 years old: Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, a tan cordurory blazer, and a soft plaid button-up with a ribbon tie at the neck. It was 1983 and what can I say, I’ve always loved new clothes. : )

  743. Crystal December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

Oh the year of the American Girl doll, for sure :) It was magical, all those outfits, the little furniture, the books….I still have everything and can’t wait until my daughter is old enough to play with them!

  744. Nicoly December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

It was a trip to go visit my older sister in Seattle (from Alaska) It was such a fun time and the memories are still with me even though my sister has passed on.

  745. Kim V December 2, 2011 at 9:58 am #

A really soft fluffy pound puppy comforter!

  746. Noelani Hatton December 2, 2011 at 9:58 am #

My most favorite Christmas present was a bike from my brother that he got me right before leaving for the Marine Corps! :)

  747. Hilary December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

When I was little, my parents surprised my sister and I with a trip to Disney World on Christmas. We opened up this huge box and a big Mickey Mouse balloon came flying out, with plane tickets attached to the string. We flew out that night for vacation. It was the most magical surprise ever!

  748. Erika Herridge December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

My favorite gift as a child was when I got my first Cabbage Patch doll. I still have her birth certificate and letter I wrote to her. Weird I know but I haven’t been able to part with it.

  749. Stacey December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

One year, my parents didn’t have much money to go toward Christmas gifts and they ended up giving me my most memorable gift! They fixed up a secondhand baby doll crib and my mom made a quilt and pillow for it out of my baby clothes. At the time, I loved it because my doll had a new bed :) but now, I love this gift because it is very sentimental to me and their thoughtfulness and loves is so apparent. I try to use this as a guide to how we think of holiday gifts for our son…it isn’t always about how much is spent, but about how much meaning is in the gift.

  750. Mandy December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

When I was about 5 my very best friend fell out of a window and passed away. Very sad I know, but the sweet thing was, my babysitter (where my friend and I met) made me a “Howie” doll that looked just like him for Christmas. I lost it when I moved from home to go to college, but I will never forget it.

  751. Cindy December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

My favorite gift was my Baby Alive & play ironing board & iron, oh & the plastic high-heel shoes! Ha! My parents made every Christmas magical for me! :)

  752. Breanne December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

My favorite Christmas present as a child would be a little vanity table I received when I was 10. It matched my bed frame and I loved being able to sit and brush my hair or keep my “perfumes” on the table. Now as an adult I know what a sacrifice it was for my parents to buy that table for me. They have told me they saved for weeks (our family didn’t have a lot growing up), and I realize just how special that gift was.

  753. Kimber-Leigh December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

my favorite gift as a child was an american girl doll back when they were still made by the pleasant company. (i think it was the first year they were introduced.) i loved that doll well…and now my daughter loves the same “vintage” doll!

  754. Kate Hollstrom December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

One of the best gifts I ever recieved was a porcelane Harlequin doll in a peach satin and lace outfit. I had wanted that doll so much and I treasured it for so long. I couldnt stop looking at it, I thought it was just so beautiful!

  755. Claudia December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

The first thing I could think of was a play kitchen I once got from Santa, but then I read the other comments….how could I forget the Cabbage Patch Doll. My parents had such a hard time finding one that I had a knock off for a while until we could get our hands on the real thing. It’s a tie b/w the kitchen and the Cabbage patch doll (fake and real).

  756. Sharon December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

A beautiful light-up dollhouse from my grandmother :)

  757. Sarah December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

When I was about 9 or 10 I was obsessed with bugs and reptiles. {Yes, I was a girl obsessed with bugs.} For Christmas that year, all I wanted was this ‘Reptile Box’ that I had seen. It was supposedly filled with spiders and snakes and lizards.
Christmas morning came and soon all the presents were unwrapped. No reptile box. I tried not to show my parents how sad I was. A good amount of time passed when suddenly my Dad burst out “I think Santa dropped a gift in the chimney.” I jumped up and peered through the glass of the fireplace. There is was. A tattered box full of holes, exposing an array of reptiles.
I was the most awesome gift and an even more awesome way of receiving it!

  758. Kelly December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

The best Christmas gift I ever received was a little table and chair set that my Grandfather built me. I used to sit my dolls and stuff animals down at that table and play tea. One time, my father even sat down on the tiny chair and put on a bonnet and played tea with me just to amuse me!

  759. Shanna December 2, 2011 at 9:54 am #

I have to say, I lived for one of the cabbage patch dolls with wire hair (covered in some kind of fabric), so I could curl it, or brush it straight, or braid it, do anything to it and it would stay. I think I carried that doll around for years!

  760. Kate Gregory December 2, 2011 at 9:54 am #

The best gift I received as a child was a stuffed beagle – I had noticed it in the store and pined for it immediately. I even wished on my wishing troll toy! haha! I was so excited when I removed it from the tissue paper on Christmas morning.

  761. Dahlia December 2, 2011 at 9:54 am #

I still remember the Christmas I got an American Girl doll. I was 8 and my sister was 10. I got Addy and my sister got a doll made to look like her. We both had yearned for these dolls for so long, but knew how expensive they were, so we didn’t think we’d ever get one. I know how hard our mom worked to be able to give them to us. I still have mine (17 years later), and plan on giving her to my daughter one day.

  762. Hannah Rice December 2, 2011 at 9:53 am #

My favorite gift as a child was a warm afghan and a couple Mandie books…I loved to curl up in that blanket and read! :o)

  763. Allison December 2, 2011 at 9:53 am #

    I love Land of Nod!!
I remember the Christmas when I received a Magic Nursery doll and how eager I was to learn if I had received a boy doll or a girl doll (it was a girl!!). Wonder whatever happened to those…

  764. Missy December 2, 2011 at 9:53 am #

After all the gifts had been opened, my family and I gathered all the wrapping paper and collectively went out to the back yard where the trash cans were kept against the back of the house. Instead of finding the trash cans in their usual place, there were four brand new bikes: three boy bikes of varying sizes and one perfect pink mustang bike with pink and white streamers on the handle bars. I remember that magical moment of surprise and delight every Christmas–and I am 52.

  765. Crystal Mear December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

As a the youngest of 4, we never really got big ticket items. So when I was 9 I got 2 barbies which made me so very happy!! If I was lucky I got accesories but usually just one barbie, so two made it extra special!!

  766. Donna December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

The best gift I ever received was a hand made doll that on one side it Little Red Riding Hood, with a long red dress, then flip it over and the doll became the Grandmother, with the night cap…and the night cap once moved to the other side revealed the Big Bad Wolf! I had so much fun with it, and would tell the tale to my younger cousins who would come to visit. I was about 9 years old. We enjoyed it for years. (or at least until my teen age years kicked in) :-D

  767. joelyn December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

My aunt made matching PJs for my cabbage patch doll and me, and I loved it

  768. Crystal December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

Oh man there are so many! I think the best and BIGGEST (although the biggest isn’t always the best) was my first bike. I’m pretty sure my mom still rides it {because she is itty bitty!}!

  769. Lisa December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

When I was 8 years old I got a Fisher Price My Friend Mandy doll. My Mom had secrectly sewed in the evening after I went to bed a whole wardrobe for her. I just loved it! That doll went everywhere I went. I kept her all these years and my daughters played with her too. Now she is packed away for hopefully another generation to enjoy someday!

  770. rachel rutt December 2, 2011 at 9:51 am #

One of my favorite christmas gifts I got as a kid was Barbie and all the accesories!

  771. Karen December 2, 2011 at 9:51 am #

I got a real baby doll when I was about 11 and it was the best present ever. Then my uncle got me a diaper bag with all the accessories. Talk about a happy girl!

  772. Emily Carr December 2, 2011 at 9:50 am #

A handmade dollhouse made by my grandfather that was as tall as me. I loved that dollhouse and my parent’s still have it in their attic. I have three boys so I know it won’t be used by my kids, but I’m hoping my brother will have girls someday and they can enjoy it!

  773. Aly December 2, 2011 at 9:50 am #

My favorite gift for Christmas was my cabbage patch kid who I named Beatrice. Years later when I learned how much trouble my mom went through to get that doll I was even more grateful!

  774. EBONY December 2, 2011 at 9:50 am #

I’d say a tie between my african american cabbage patch kid…and my ET doll :) I loved them both…and I’m amazed that the CPK dolls are still around even 20+ yrs later!

  775. Shanon December 2, 2011 at 9:50 am #

The best gift I received? That we had such wonderful Christmases that I want to carry on those traditions with my own children. It might sound cheesy, but it’s true. It was such a magical time of year, and we had cool traditions that really made it special. I am excited to do those same things with my kids.

I still remember the hair crimper I received back in ’89, though. ;)

  776. Linda December 2, 2011 at 9:49 am #

My favorite gift…a baby doll from my Aunt that she had handmade the most special yellow chiffon dress for it with awesome details! Now as am older looking back on it I’m so amazed that she made such a special gift when she had 9 kids of her own, worked part-time and was a farmers wife besides! Soo sweet!

  777. Allison A December 2, 2011 at 9:49 am #

Wow, what a beautiful shop. I’m so glad you mentioned it!

Hmm, my favorite gift I’ve ever received was my 1st Christmas with my then boyfriend (now husband of 6 1/2 years). He bought me beautiful art books and pads of paper to draw with and art supplies. It was so thoughtful and charming of him.

  778. Amber Davis December 2, 2011 at 9:49 am #

A homemade barbie dollhouse made by my aunt with leftover pieces of her linoleum and wallpaper and lots of love.

  779. Kelly December 2, 2011 at 9:49 am #

My cabbage patch doll! I can still remember taking the pledge to be a good mom to her!

  780. Laurel December 2, 2011 at 9:49 am #

The set of Little House books I received Christmas of my first grade year. Still have them, worn and tattered, but still much loved.

  781. Jackie December 2, 2011 at 9:48 am #

My very best Christmas gift was a pair of Barbie rollerskates! I skated every day!

  782. kasey December 2, 2011 at 9:48 am #

A chalkboard so I could play school. I played with it forever and then grew up and became a real teacher!

  783. Grace December 2, 2011 at 9:47 am #

My Toy Kitchen, many hours of fun with Sister.

  784. Jes December 2, 2011 at 9:47 am #

Oh! I simply adore The Land Of Nod (sometimes I think I enjoy browsing through their catalog more than my son). ;) I think my favorite Christmas gift that I received as a child was the Playmobil Victorian dollhouse. I still remembering setting it up with my dad on Christmas day and playing with it for YEARS. If we are ever blessed with a little girl, I hope to someday pass it down to her. :)

My favorite gift as a child was my cabbage patch doll! And each of my sisters got one too which made it even better! I have kept my doll all these years and hopefully my little girl will enjoy playing with it as much as I did.

Thanks for the chance to win!

My favorite Christmas gift I received as a child was my American Girl Doll. I still have her and I cannot wait to make giving one to my little girl a tradition.

My American Girl Samantha doll. I still remember walking into the living room and seeing her by the Christmas tree. I hope to have a daughter to pass her on to.

A wooden rocking horse my dad made. I have enjoyed that my whole life!

A handmade dollhouse from my Dad. He wasn’t a handyman or a carpenter, but he made a two-story dollhouse for me and decorated it himself! I wish I still had it.

The best gift I ever got as a child was this dog/stamp thing called Poochie! I really wanted it bad and I got it. I was so happy. I can still hear the jingle to the commercial. “Poochie…Poochie for girls!” Thanks so much for this awesome chance to win!

My Birthday Barbie! Complete with a beautiful glittery dress to match her glittery hair and glittery birthday cake. Probably would have been more appropriate for my birthday, but I didn’t care!

The best gift I received as a child was a baby doll crib and high chair, made by my dad. My mom painted them beautifully with toll paint flowers and made all of the bedding ! I loved it, and now my daughter gets to enjoy it too!

The best gift I ever received for Christmas was a sewing machine from my mom two years ago. Unfortunately it is still in the box – but my goal for 2012 is to learn how to sew. It means a lot to me because my relationship with my mom is really strained and it showed me that she was in tune with what I wanted to do in my life, that she cares.

I feel like every year, I was so blessed to get a great gift that I always wanted… the Easy Bake Oven, a Cabbage Patch doll (Ina Angel), and the Barbie Dream Home. But my all-time favorite gift was a new bike. It gave me the opportunity to experience freedom, learn independence, use my imagination, be social with other kids (girls AND boys), and have physical activity. To this day, bike riding is still an activity that I enjoy, especially with my kids. Maybe it’s too practical, but for me, it’s classic gift that will never go out of style.

I have so many wonderful memories, I am blessed. The few that standout this morning was a trip to disneyland one year, my purple and pink big girl bike, and then the american girl doll! I also rememeber when I was older, and knew the truth about Santa, but didn’t want to accept it, I told him I wanted one of thos phones that was clear and u could see all the colorful wires through it, and then he got it for me…. :) so I “believed” for one more year before I had to “grow” up :)

Last year, my Grandmother gave me a nativity scene that you could put a candle behind, which shined through the NOEL graphic at the top. I didn’t appreciate it too much, I mean, I thought it was pretty but it wasn’t special. She passed away this October from Stage 4 Brain Cancer, and now, I couldn’t of asked her for anything more special. She gave me something to remember that she’s with God now, and when I see that candle shine, I think of her smile.

My favorite Christmas gift was a dollhouse my parents put together for me. It wasn’t anything fancy, but I probably spent 100’s of hours over the years playing with it! When we were visiting over Thanksgiving, I spent some time looking at it and reminiscing!

My most memorable childhood gift was the American Girl Samantha doll. I still cherish it- it is now in my little girl’s closet for when she is old enough!
