I would say the gift that sticks out the most is the doll house my dad made for me. I had been asking for one for several years and he decided that instead of buying the regular doll houses that everyone else had, I should have a custome built house that was the same exact house that we lived in. It was so very special and I actually still have it. Hopefull that God will bless me with a special little girl to be able to hand it down to.

My very favorite gift as a child was a pair of cowgirl boots that I wore everyday with every outfit all year long. Wish I would have hung on to those beauties.

  3. Melissa M. December 2, 2011 at 5:58 am #

My favorite gift was a doll I got when I was 10 years old that I had wanted all year long and my mom kept telling me that it was way too expensive and that I wouldn’t be getting it. To my surprise, Christmas morning, there it lay under the tree…I LOVED that Christmas!

  4. Tonia December 2, 2011 at 6:03 am #

My favorite gift was the complete Little House series of books I received when I was 11. I still have it and usually reread the books every year. Timeless gifts…

  5. Emily Loewen December 2, 2011 at 6:15 am #

My favorite gift that I received as a child would be a little kitten we named Snickers.

  6. Dana December 2, 2011 at 6:19 am #

My favorite gift was a toy kitchen that my dad made for me. I absolutely loved it! To this day I wish that I still had it, although I don’t think my boys would enjoy it as much as I did :)

  7. Ceci December 2, 2011 at 6:20 am #

My best Xmas gift as a child was a handcrafted dollhouse that my father built. Of course, I didn’t realize that he built it at the time, but looking back I can just imagine him up late at night trying to complete the three level house. I hope to do the same for my daughter some day soon!

  8. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 6:21 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was a doll crib that I got when I was 4. Now I enjoy watching my girls play with it! It brings back lots of memories!

  9. Ashley Hall December 2, 2011 at 6:23 am #

The gift that sticks out in my mind is basketball goal Santa brought. We were out of town for Christmas morning so we got a picture of it and a letter from Santa telling us it was delivered to our house. We were so excites to get home to play ball!

  10. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 6:25 am #

One year we got bikes and had a huge snow storm that night. My dad cleared off our driveway completely so we could do laps around the driveway!

  11. leah belle December 2, 2011 at 6:25 am #

a babydoll one year…wanted it so bad….LOVED that doll for a long time!

  12. Beverly White December 2, 2011 at 6:25 am #

Ummm, the very best childhood gift? I really can’t think of one in particular. What I do remember vividly is that my Mother always left one gift for each of us unwrapped under the Christmas tree. When we came down the stairs in the morning there was no hesitation over whose gift was whose. Even if we hadn’t specifically asked for what what there, each of us four kids KNEW the gift intended for us. Kind of like God’s gifts…each one chosen especially for us…because he KNOWS us.
Now I have grandchildren and these toys look great. We prefer toys without batteries. The Robobox looks like lots of creative fun. We have all grandsons so far.

  13. Heather M. December 2, 2011 at 6:28 am #

My very favorite present was a horse stable my dad built me….complete with a whole set of horses. I played with it for hours!

  14. Jane Toms December 2, 2011 at 6:28 am #

My favorite Christmas gift from childhood was my easy bake oven. I ate lost of toast made with that thing.

  15. Amy Ellis December 2, 2011 at 6:29 am #

My very first Cabbage Patch doll… Bertalice!

  16. Kendra December 2, 2011 at 6:30 am #

Definitely my Cabbage Patch doll–Hannah Karina. She was my favorite toy, for years and years and my sister and I spent hours playing dolls.

  17. sarah December 2, 2011 at 6:31 am #

When I was 14 I wanted a snow board so bad I couldn’t stand it. I really didn’t think I’d really get one because they cost so much but low and behold I came downstairs Christmas morning and there it was leaning against the wall next to the tree. I will never forget how happy and grateful I was!

  18. Meg A. December 2, 2011 at 6:32 am #

Probably a tie between the book, “Little Women” or my first doll house. Still have that copy of Little Women but no idea what happened to the doll house. Such wonderful memories!

  19. JJ Blandford December 2, 2011 at 6:34 am #

My favorite Christmas gift as a child was the year I got a puppy! I was in middle school and had wanted a dog for years. It was a shock to she her under the tree. It was a wonderful gift and a sweet memory.

  20. Brenda Weaver December 2, 2011 at 6:35 am #

I have just started getting the Land of Nod magazines and the kids and I love to pour over them and pick things out we’d like to buy. They’re fabulous!
We didn’t have a lot of money growing up and so we didn’t spend much on gifts. My siblings and I would exchange names to buy each other a small Christmas gift. I remember the year my brother bought me a Barbie doll. I had been wanting one for a long time and he went to the store and bought it himself. So sweet! I played many hours with that doll and it was the only Barbie I ever owned as a child. I still have it and my daughter plays with it now.

  21. Chelsea December 2, 2011 at 6:38 am #

My favorite gift as a child was a gymnastics mat from Santa. I thought that I was just so cool to have my own mat to tumble around on.

  22. kristy December 2, 2011 at 6:42 am #

I would have to say one of my very favorite Christmas gift memories was when I was 9 and I wanted a “for real” baby doll so bad and that was the only thing I really wanted, well it wasn’t under the tree and my heart was sad. But much to my surprise my dad saved it to the very last and gave it to me. I was so over joyed! Later he told me that he called around to all of the toy stores and everyone was out, but he eventually was able to find it 2 hours away from home. What a great dad!

  23. Melaine Thompson December 2, 2011 at 6:44 am #

so cool! Love land of nod! My older sister and I would get a doll every year from Santa, placed on the hearth just below our stockings. Each year we would get a new one. I still remember those days like they were yesterday! Melaine

  24. Rachel L. December 2, 2011 at 6:48 am #

My favorite gift as a child was my “sega game gear”. We didn’t really have video games growing up, but my parents got me this one to keep me occupied on long road trips! I am pretty sure I can still remember all the levels of sonic the hedgehog! lol.

  25. Karin December 2, 2011 at 6:48 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was my very own bike when I was 8. I always had to ride my brother’s “boy” bikes and was so excited when I saw my pink bike sitting beside the tree!

  26. Abigail December 2, 2011 at 6:55 am #

A red plastic sled. This was a perfect gift for the adventurous first-born daughter! I loved finding the biggest snow covered hills to sled down every winter!

  27. Shelley December 2, 2011 at 6:58 am #

Oh I LOVE Land of Nod! My favorite gift I received as a child was a play kitchen for Christmas. I couldn’t have been but 3 years old, but I remember it so vividly. My parents still have it!

  28. Liz @ Fresh Plate December 2, 2011 at 7:00 am #

What a great giveaway! My favorite gift was a dollhouse that my papa, daddy and older brother made for my sister and I one year. It is still at my moms house. Hopefully my sister will have daughters one day to pass it on. (I have 4 sons)

  29. Meg December 2, 2011 at 7:00 am #

My very favorite gift was my dear little kitty, Holly. She was the best little girl ever! She used to even walk me and my sisters to the bus when we were young, what kind of a cat does that? She finally died about 2 years ago but she had a long wonderful life and we all miss her dearly!

    Meg

My pound puppy, Freckles. He’s the largest pound puppy they ever made and has been around the world and back with me!

  31. Ashley Summers December 2, 2011 at 7:04 am #

hmmmm…. the first thing that comes to mind is an opal ring that my mom & I designed with a jeweler… I was in 7th grade that year and now @ 30 that ring is still dear to me! Merry Christmas!

  32. Gayla December 2, 2011 at 7:06 am #

I would have to say the year that my brothers and I received new bicylces. It was so fun! I rode that bike forever :)

  33. abby December 2, 2011 at 7:08 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was a stuffed polar bear from baby gap – which I creatively named “polar” :) But it was my favorite toy for years!

  34. JoAnn December 2, 2011 at 7:10 am #

I got a precious baby doll one year when I was young. It is still in my trunk stored away for me to smile at when I need a memory.

  35. Pamelotta December 2, 2011 at 7:13 am #

I can’t remember a particular gift that was my favorite, just that my mom always made the tree on Christmas morning look magical. She’s an expert present wrapper and everything was coordinated and sparkly and there was always one big gift sitting out, unwrapped. We knew that was the one that Santa had put there.

  36. amy December 2, 2011 at 7:14 am #

i still vividly remember getting my barbie dream house which still resides in my parent’s basement.

  37. Kristy December 2, 2011 at 7:17 am #

My mom got each of us a Christmas-themed children’s book every year. My favorites? The Nutcracker, The Little Match Girl, and Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus. I still have all of them!

  38. Sarah Alford December 2, 2011 at 7:17 am #

It’s so fun to read everyone’s memories. My favorite Christmas gift was the year I received a My Twinn doll. I was suspicious that I was getting one, but was still really surprised when I saw her sitting on the couch on Christmas morning. I loved that doll and played with her almost until I was a teenager.

  39. Carrie December 2, 2011 at 7:19 am #

When I was seven or eight, I got the Dawn doll beauty pageant set…dolls in pageant gowns on a stage that revolved. Absolute Heaven!!

  40. Becky Beals December 2, 2011 at 7:20 am #

The best toy I can remember getting for Christmas was a wooden doll house that my grandfather made for me. My parents were nice and let us get up and the crack of dawn to open presents and I can remember playing with that doll house literally the whole Christmas day. There are only a few presents that really stick out in my memory, but that was the best one by far!

On a side note, I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy looking at your blog. I love the simpleness of your layout and style. I so appreciate the spiritual insights you give and the great example you are of living what you believe. I am a different religion than you, but I truly LOVE to read your blog and have for several years now. Thanks for all you do!!

  42. Erin December 2, 2011 at 7:24 am #

I still remember the Christmas morning that I got an Easy Bake Oven. Pure excitement!

  43. Carrie December 2, 2011 at 7:25 am #

I have so many wonderful Christmas memories from when I was a child, my mom was the best at Christmas! My most memorable toy was my cabbage patch doll. I now know that my mom stood in line for hours to get me one and she found one with my late grandfathers name. I was so excited on Christmas morning and it is one of the toys that I have kept all these years.

    Merry Christmas Everyone!

  44. Lesley December 2, 2011 at 7:25 am #

My grandma crocheted me an gorgeous afghan when I was about 10 years old- that I still to this day absolutely love. There is just something extra special about homemade gifts, knowing all the love that went into it just makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy every time I cuddle in it with my baby & husband. I’ll keep it forever and ever.

  45. Genny December 2, 2011 at 7:25 am #

The very best gift? My Cabbage Patch Kid, of course. It was when I was 6 and those ugly dolls were all the rage. My parents were always very anti- “getting the latest and greatest toy” that everyone wanted, but thankfully, Santa pulled through for me. :)

  46. Andrea December 2, 2011 at 7:28 am #

I love Land of Nod! My favorite toy growing up I received when I was around 10. I received Samantha from American Girl and I remember it being a VERY big deal because she was expensive. In fact, my mom wouldn’t really let me play with her; just dress her up and look at her:)

  47. kristen December 2, 2011 at 7:28 am #

i was technically a “teenager”, but i would have to say my favorite Christmas gift would have to be a precious moments metal nativity set i received from my grandmother. at the time i may not have been that thrilled, but as the years go by it has become my most treasured Christmas decoration.

  48. Sharon Traywick December 2, 2011 at 7:30 am #

My best Christmas present would have to be the year I received a 10-speed bike. It made me feel grown up to have multiple speeds and breaks that were on the handle bars. I had so much fun on that bike!

  49. Anna December 2, 2011 at 7:30 am #

How fun! I was just on their site before I headed over here. My 2 year old sat with me the other day and took 45 minutes to look through their latest catalog! Best gift would have to be a doll house my parents with through heck to keep hidden from me. They lovingly painted and decorated the aqua blue victorian and boy was it enjoyed and played with!!
    (love reading everyone’s stories!)

  50. Brooke December 2, 2011 at 7:31 am #

a stuffed Strawberry Shortcake doll… she was scented. How cool!

    What a great giveaway. Thanks!

I absolutely loved my Creepy Crawler Machine!

  52. jan December 2, 2011 at 7:34 am #

My favorite gift as a child was this little white dog that had a remote leash. So you could actually “walk” it. I wanted it more than any other toy ever!

  53. Megan December 2, 2011 at 7:37 am #

Honestly, I can’t remember what my all time favorite toy was getting, but I do remember I always loved books and I am thankful to have pasted the love of books down to my daughter! :)

  54. Taylor December 2, 2011 at 7:37 am #

My favorite gift was a blanket I received from the 4th grade class my Mom was teaching when she had me. I have had the blanket now for 25 years!

  55. Teresa S. December 2, 2011 at 7:39 am #

My very best Christmas present as a child was a bike. I rode that things for hours and hours. I still love riding a bike and often use it as my chance to get away for a little while.

  56. Kate December 2, 2011 at 7:40 am #

I love Land of Nod too!

At the time, it was my crimp ‘n curl Cabbage Patch Doll. But looking back — it was the mini baton & the red headed Cabbage Patch Doll my Grandmaw bought for me. She was a red-head & I was the only grandchild that got that gene. Then in high school, I followed the family tradition & became a majorette!

  57. Mandy Kimsey December 2, 2011 at 7:42 am #

Our trampoline. We thought it was the best thing EVER. It was all we got that year pretty much….

  58. Emily December 2, 2011 at 7:45 am #

The best christmas present I got as a child was when i was about 4 years old. My mother made me a play house out of washer & dryer boxes! She painted it to look like a little cottage! I discovered it before Christmas though, ran to my mom and exclaimed “MOM! Look what I found!”

  59. Christy Coskrey December 2, 2011 at 7:46 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was this Farrah Fawcett head/bust type contraption and you could style her glorious wing-ed hair and apply makeup to it also…it came with some super fab frosted blue eyeshadow and pink lip gloss! Sometimes I wish I still had that thing haha…good times! Love Land of Nod, thanks for reminding me of them, going there now!

  60. Shilo December 2, 2011 at 7:46 am #

The very best gift I received as a child was a sled that Santa flew over and dropped in our back yard (with grandpa’s help). It was so magical!

  61. Jennifer December 2, 2011 at 7:47 am #

I am pretty sure my American Girl doll tops my charts. There were only a couple at the time, and I recently (randomly) got a catalog … wow! I’m sure my little girl will love to have one one day too.

  62. Johnnal Salyer December 2, 2011 at 7:49 am #

Hands down it was a monkey back scrubber from Avon. Sounds rediculous, but that thing was AWESOME! Long after I had tired of the easy bake oven and baby dolls, that scrub brush was being a sword, microphone, drum major batton, you name it. I think we played with those thing (and occasionally scrubbed our backs) for 3 or 4 years. They were great!

  63. Hilary December 2, 2011 at 7:49 am #

There are so many wonderful gifts I have received, but I think it was the year my sister and I received Cabbage Patch twins! When we came in Christmas morning a set was under the tree. My sister and I assumed we each would take one, which we were thrilled about. As we were determining their names, my dad began a fake baby cry, looking surprised, he headed behind the couch and pulled out another set! What a surprise!! Still my favorite Christmas memory:)

  64. Amy W December 2, 2011 at 7:50 am #

I loved my doll with hair that grew. I think I got it when I was 5.

  65. nicole December 2, 2011 at 7:51 am #

When I was little my parents got me a suitcase. When I opened the suitcase I had a bunch of new clothes wrapped inside. It was such a fun surprise!

  66. laurie December 2, 2011 at 7:52 am #

    loved land of nod!!
My most precious gift was a doll that my grandma made as a replica of me, she made one for my sister & cousin as well. She died shortly after, so it has special meaning to all of us.

  67. leenie December 2, 2011 at 7:53 am #

My favorite gift was the barbie farari. White with pink star stickers, Barbie knew what shewas doing!

  68. katie December 2, 2011 at 7:56 am #

My many Cabbage Patch dolls! I was 8 and 9 years younger than my siblings so at times it was like I was an only child. My mom enjoyed getting me dolls for gifts because I would spend hours playing with them since my siblings were often times not around as they grew older.

  69. marina December 2, 2011 at 7:58 am #

The best gift I can remember is the year my dad gave me an engraved wooden box with a letter inside telling me about how he was proud of me and how much he loved me and what a bright future I had ahead of me… it the Christmas just after my 17th birthday.

  70. Joanna December 2, 2011 at 7:58 am #

My favorite was a dress that my mom (along with some help from a woman in my church) made for me. It had a tiered lavender satin skirt and a very frilly top. It even had puffed sleeves! (Very Anne of Green Gables of me!) Along with the dress, my oldest sister made me a cloth doll that had a dress that matched my special dress. It was a very special gift of love both from my mom and my sister.

  71. Stephanie December 2, 2011 at 7:59 am #

My favorite gift was a little cradle for my doll babies that my dad made for me. I remember I wasn’t allowed to go down into the basement for the longest time while he was working on it. I still have it today, and hopefully my sweet little daughter will play with it like I did.

  72. Kelsi December 2, 2011 at 8:00 am #

The best gift I received, the one I remember the most, was when my parents let me go to the store and pick out a bunch of gifts/clothing for a needy girl my age and deliver them to her secretly during the Christmas season. I enjoyed it so much!

  73. Jill December 2, 2011 at 8:00 am #

Favorite Christmas gift as a child… this has really challenged me to think back on all the Christmas Eve’s spent at my Mimi’s house with the ‘whole’ family, a tradition that started when my dad married my step-mother on Christmas Eve at my Mimi’s house. I was 3 years old and without a mother and while I don’t remember much of that age, I do remember getting a Mom for Christmas. I can’t think of a gift I ever loved more.

  74. Bethany Cluff December 2, 2011 at 8:03 am #

Without a doubt it was me Cabbage Patch doll. My mom even made extra clothes for her and matching dresses for her and me! Thanks for the giveaway!

  75. Morgan December 2, 2011 at 8:03 am #

I have received a lot of wonderful gifts, but the greatest is the ones I have given…one year, we surprised my mom and had professional pictures taken of me and my siblings. We had a huge portrait framed and hung on the mantle on Christmas morning. My mom balled. She was so surprised. It was a wonderful Christmas!

  76. Ruth Abel December 2, 2011 at 8:04 am #

My best Christmas gift ever was when my little brother and I walked into our bedroom after an afternoon out with Dad, and we had brand new beds. My mom had spent the evening changing out the beds and blankets, and I had her old four poster bed with a huge pink floral canopy and matching bedspread and pillow. And she had given me her favorite doll from when she was little. Such a fun surprise that I will remember forever! And to top it off, we got to go out for pizza after.

  77. Lynn Holloway December 2, 2011 at 8:05 am #

It would be my vac-u-form. I could create my own plastic toys for hours on end, paint them assemble them, play with them. It was the best!

  78. Amber December 2, 2011 at 8:07 am #

My favorite gift was not having to travel one Christmas when I was 12. We woke up to a yard full of white snow and slippery roads. That year instead of opening our gifts and quickly leaving them behind for a 2.5 car ride to my grandparents, we simply stayed home, played with our new gifts, and enjoyed our time together as the 4 of us. It was so nice to not be rushed on the holiday. Don’t worry – my grandparents saw us the next day :)

  79. Heather Scullen December 2, 2011 at 8:08 am #

My favorite gift ever was my cabbage patch doll…remember those? I got all the stuff to go with her like a high chair, crib, etc….fun memories!

  80. Maile December 2, 2011 at 8:09 am #

As a little one, the gift that stands out was my very first bicycle – a Strawberry Shortcake designed one with a basket too! As a teen, I vividly remember receiving my very first Bible….probably the most important gift under the Christmas tree ever!

  81. Krista December 2, 2011 at 8:11 am #

One year, when we had less than no money for Christmas, our grandmother and aunts and uncles packed up a big box of dress up clothes (mostly old dresses cut down to our size), old crimping and curling irons and various “imagination” things as a Christmas gift for us. It was the BEST gift ever! There were so many memories made with that one box of used clothing! I can’t wait to do the same for my daughter someday.

  82. julia December 2, 2011 at 8:11 am #

My favorite gift was a cabbage patch premie doll that my parents gave me one christmas. Thats all I wanted every year after that.

  83. Erin December 2, 2011 at 8:16 am #

I loved a play kitchen I received on year. My sister, brother, and I played with it for years.

  84. tina December 2, 2011 at 8:18 am #

    karaoke machine!

  85. Jenna December 2, 2011 at 8:19 am #

Probably my favorite gift {but there were SO many great ones!} was a trampoline! Part of the thrill was that my dad had made a treasure map for us to follow. X marked the spot where the trampoline was standing in our backyard. So fun! Trampolines are kind of common-place now, but back them we didn’t know of anyone who had one!

  86. Dolly December 2, 2011 at 8:19 am #

I’ve already ordered all my stocking stuffers from The Land of Nod, but I could always order more. I love that place!
My favorite present was a little blue parakeet. I named him Billy and he was the best-est friend my 8 year old self could ever have.

  87. Jamie D December 2, 2011 at 8:20 am #

Thats a tough one. I distinctly remember the Christmas I got my first bike. It was awesome and lasted forever! I have never been so excited!

  88. Kate December 2, 2011 at 8:27 am #

One year I asked for a dress made by Santa’s elves. Not only did I get it, but it also matched the red gingham dress of my favorite Cabbage Patch Kid, Lorrie Felicia.

  89. elle December 2, 2011 at 8:28 am #

The best Christmas present I received was a homemade kitchen set my Dad made me. I was so excited and my dad worked so hard on it!

  90. wendy larrabee December 2, 2011 at 8:29 am #

I wanted an American Girl doll so bad but my parents couldn’t see to spend that much on a doll. I did get a book about Molly which I thought was awesome. I grew up, got married and told my new mother-in-law about that story (we were having a similar story about favorite gifts) and that Christmas there was Molly waiting for me under the tree! I was 3o at the time and totally freaked out! It was a special memory for our whole family which I’m sure I’ll get made fun of at some point. Molly is now a treasured doll that my little girl loves.

  91. Taylor December 2, 2011 at 8:30 am #

I guess my favorite gift as a little girl was a “real-like” baby doll and “real-like” baby carseat/stroller. I guess I’ve always wanted to be a mommy. Now this year I’m celebrating my first Christmas with my REAL baby, my 11th month old son. :)

P.S. I love Land of Nod!

  93. TaraO December 2, 2011 at 8:38 am #

My favorite gift that I recieved as a child was a set of real (tiny) diamond earrings from my aunt. She gave them to me right after I got my ears pierced and I felt SO grown up haha! I would love to win this gift card, I’m pregnant with our first child-a boy- and would love to buy him some goodies!

  96. Heidi Sonboul December 2, 2011 at 8:45 am #

When I was a little girl I received a rainbow brite oven (I know… so domestic, but I really loved playing house). That was the year that my Grandmother spent the night and stayed with us for Christmas. On Christmas morning when I received my adorable oven…my lovely Grandmother play house with me the whole time. It was magical and that’s what Christmas is all about. Being together in the spirit of love and joy. Now that I’m a mother I spend my Nov finding the most perfect gifts for my boys. Trying to create that magic I had that one Christmas morning years ago.

Thanks for the chance to win. I love that store, because they are pack with magical things :)

  97. Amy December 2, 2011 at 8:48 am #

I would have to say my all-time favorite Christmas present was my first cabbage patch kid! I still have Laverne Debi and now my daughter plays with
    her! : )

  98. Meggan December 2, 2011 at 8:50 am #

My favorite Christmas gift I received as a child was a record player along with a Muppets album and the Michael Jackson Thriller album. Looking back now it was such a strange mix of music, but it made 7 year old me incredibly happy!

  99. Elisa December 2, 2011 at 8:50 am #

    Hi there,

My parents divorced when I was very young. But they never stopped being excellent co-parents. My favorite Christmas gift was a dollhouse they worked together to make for me. My father built it and my mother made all the dolls and furniture by hand. The fact that they came together to make me this lovely gift was so moving and made me feel so special. Just magic.

  100. Jessica December 2, 2011 at 8:51 am #

Hands down, my favorite gift was a typewriter I got when I was about 11 or 12. I would type stories all day long on that thing, I loved it so!

  102. Dana December 2, 2011 at 9:00 am #

My cousin is 2 years older than me and we were inseparable as kids. I wanted to do everything he did and be just like him. So one Christmas Santa brought me a baby doll and a tow truck, ha! My parents said I carried them both around all the time and that my baby doll had many a ride on that tow truck :)

  103. Jennifer December 2, 2011 at 9:01 am #

  105. Brandi December 2, 2011 at 9:14 am #

When I was around six years old, Santa brought me a Barbie Hairstyling Head. Oh my–I played with that toy for years. I’d put her hair into up-do’s, braid it, wet it down and brush it out for hours. Even now that I’m 30, there are times while I’m watching TV that I still wish I had that Barbie head to fiddle with! :)

  106. Amber Mullooly December 2, 2011 at 9:14 am #

My favorite gift was a trampoline! I wanted one for so long and when I was 9, I got it! And I was thrilled!

  110. Sarah December 2, 2011 at 9:17 am #

My very favorite childhood Christmas gift would have to be the Little Tikes kitchen I received. It had a little table attached to one side, and the colors were the glorious golds and greens of the early 80’s. I played with that thing every day, and bonus- my parents still have it, so my daughter can start playing with it soon when we visit them!

  111. kirsty December 2, 2011 at 9:19 am #

my grandma got us a giant classroom chalkboard from the elementary school they were remodeling in town. It was so big, I had tons of room for my drawings on one half and my brother’s on the other. Wow I wish I still had that chalkboard!

  112. Lauren December 2, 2011 at 9:20 am #

The gift I still have the fondest memories of was my play kitchen… also the handmade cabbage patch kid my mom made (the real one was a bit too hard to find and priced too high). I may not have appreciated it as a 5 year old child, but I sure do now as a mom.

  113. Nikki December 2, 2011 at 9:21 am #

Dream Date Barbie… I loved her with my all my heart. :)

  116. Kim December 2, 2011 at 9:29 am #

An English saddle for my horse. :)

  117. Jennifer December 2, 2011 at 9:29 am #

Oh…so many wonderful memories. I suppose my best Christmas was when I was about three. I got a swingset! (I never did figure out how Santa fit it on his sleigh.) I also got the Fisher Price Little People Sesame Street. It had Mr. Hooper (I know, I’m old), Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Susan, Gordon, Bert, and Ernie. My mom still has the set, although some of the characters have gone missing.

As for Land of Nod, I love everything I’ve ever gotten from them–a storagepalooza, a desk lamp, and two flea market wire ball bins. I could certainly use a gift card!

  118. Elizabeth December 2, 2011 at 9:34 am #

Red bike, because I never got that Easy Bake Oven. :)

  119. Lauren December 2, 2011 at 9:34 am #

  120. Sherry December 2, 2011 at 9:34 am #

  122. Adie December 2, 2011 at 9:35 am #

  128. Holly December 2, 2011 at 9:37 am #

When I was 7 I asked for a Scottish Terrier puppy. I knew I would never get it, but it was my dream to have that cute little black puppy, with pointed tail and a red bow. I unwrapped my presents and the first thing I opened was a dog food dish. My little brain was so confused. Next thing I knew my parents set a basket in front of me with a little plaid blanket and furry black head sticking out of it. That was my favorite Christmas gift and something I will never forget.

  129. Kristin December 2, 2011 at 9:37 am #

My dollhouse – I LOOOVED it!

  130. Cynthia December 2, 2011 at 9:37 am #

My favorite Christmas gift as a child was a boombox radio! I was in 2nd grade and it had a cassette tape player. My mom bought my first cassette tape, which was Stevie Wonder’s In Square Circle because I loved the song ‘Part Time Lover’. Now as an adult I cannot believe my mom let me listen to that song!! ha!

  136. Kate Hubbell December 2, 2011 at 9:38 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was a dollhouse lovingly made by my Dad when I was seven. He worked late at night on my dollhouse for many evenings after I had gone to bed. On Christmas morning, he was so excited to watch me playing with that magical dollhouse. Great Christmas memories!

  137. RoseAnna Allen December 2, 2011 at 9:38 am #

One of my favorites was getting a stuffed animal cat that would purr when you hugged it. I opened it and immediately hugged it, and when it started purring I thought for a split second that it was real :)

  163. Danielle Brumbley December 2, 2011 at 9:42 am #

Last year, my Grandmother gave me a nativity scene that you could put a candle behind, which shined through the NOEL graphic at the top. I didn’t appreciate it too much, I mean, I thought it was pretty but it wasn’t special. She passed away this October from Stage 4 Brain Cancer, and now, I couldn’t of asked her for anything more special. She gave me something to remember that she’s with God now, and when I see that candle shine, I think of her smile.

  164. katie hanchinamani December 2, 2011 at 9:42 am #

I have so many wonderful memories, I am blessed. The few that standout this morning was a trip to disneyland one year, my purple and pink big girl bike, and then the american girl doll! I also rememeber when I was older, and knew the truth about Santa, but didn’t want to accept it, I told him I wanted one of thos phones that was clear and u could see all the colorful wires through it, and then he got it for me…. :) so I “believed” for one more year before I had to “grow” up :)

  165. Kari December 2, 2011 at 9:43 am #

I feel like every year, I was so blessed to get a great gift that I always wanted… the Easy Bake Oven, a Cabbage Patch doll (Ina Angel), and the Barbie Dream Home. But my all-time favorite gift was a new bike. It gave me the opportunity to experience freedom, learn independence, use my imagination, be social with other kids (girls AND boys), and have physical activity. To this day, bike riding is still an activity that I enjoy, especially with my kids. Maybe it’s too practical, but for me, it’s classic gift that will never go out of style.

The best gift I ever received for Christmas was a sewing machine from my mom two years ago. Unfortunately it is still in the box – but my goal for 2012 is to learn how to sew. It means a lot to me because my relationship with my mom is really strained and it showed me that she was in tune with what I wanted to do in my life, that she cares.

  169. Christina December 2, 2011 at 9:44 am #

  194. Linda December 2, 2011 at 9:49 am #

My favorite gift…a baby doll from my Aunt that she had handmade the most special yellow chiffon dress for it with awesome details! Now as am older looking back on it I’m so amazed that she made such a special gift when she had 9 kids of her own, worked part-time and was a farmers wife besides! Soo sweet!

  195. Shanon December 2, 2011 at 9:50 am #

The best gift I received? That we had such wonderful Christmases that I want to carry on those traditions with my own children. It might sound cheesy, but it’s true. It was such a magical time of year, and we had cool traditions that really made it special. I am excited to do those same things with my kids.

I still remember the hair crimper I received back in ’89, though. ;)

I got a real baby doll when I was about 11 and it was the best present ever. Then my uncle got me a diaper bag with all the accessories. Talk about a happy girl!

  200. rachel rutt December 2, 2011 at 9:51 am #

One of my favorite christmas gifts I got as a kid was Barbie and all the accesories!

  201. Lisa December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

When I was 8 years old I got a Fisher Price My Friend Mandy doll. My Mom had secrectly sewed in the evening after I went to bed a whole wardrobe for her. I just loved it! That doll went everywhere I went. I kept her all these years and my daughters played with her too. Now she is packed away for hopefully another generation to enjoy someday!

  202. Crystal December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

Oh man there are so many! I think the best and BIGGEST (although the biggest isn’t always the best) was my first bike. I’m pretty sure my mom still rides it {because she is itty bitty!}!

  203. joelyn December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

My aunt made matching PJs for my cabbage patch doll and me, and I loved it

  204. Donna December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

The best gift I ever received was a hand made doll that on one side it Little Red Riding Hood, with a long red dress, then flip it over and the doll became the Grandmother, with the night cap…and the night cap once moved to the other side revealed the Big Bad Wolf! I had so much fun with it, and would tell the tale to my younger cousins who would come to visit. I was about 9 years old. We enjoyed it for years. (or at least until my teen age years kicked in) :-D

  205. Crystal Mear December 2, 2011 at 9:52 am #

As a the youngest of 4, we never really got big ticket items. So when I was 9 I got 2 barbies which made me so very happy!! If I was lucky I got accesories but usually just one barbie, so two made it extra special!!

  206. Missy December 2, 2011 at 9:53 am #

After all the gifts had been opened, my family and I gathered all the wrapping paper and collectively went out to the back yard where the trash cans were kept against the back of the house. Instead of finding the trash cans in their usual place, there were four brand new bikes: three boy bikes of varying sizes and one perfect pink mustang bike with pink and white streamers on the handle bars. I remember that magical moment of surprise and delight every Christmas–and I am 52.

  207. Allison December 2, 2011 at 9:53 am #

    I love Land of Nod!!
I remember the Christmas when I received a Magic Nursery doll and how eager I was to learn if I had received a boy doll or a girl doll (it was a girl!!). Wonder whatever happened to those…

  208. Hannah Rice December 2, 2011 at 9:53 am #

My favorite gift as a child was a warm afghan and a couple Mandie books…I loved to curl up in that blanket and read! :o)

  209. Dahlia December 2, 2011 at 9:54 am #

I still remember the Christmas I got an American Girl doll. I was 8 and my sister was 10. I got Addy and my sister got a doll made to look like her. We both had yearned for these dolls for so long, but knew how expensive they were, so we didn’t think we’d ever get one. I know how hard our mom worked to be able to give them to us. I still have mine (17 years later), and plan on giving her to my daughter one day.

  210. Kate Gregory December 2, 2011 at 9:54 am #

The best gift I received as a child was a stuffed beagle – I had noticed it in the store and pined for it immediately. I even wished on my wishing troll toy! haha! I was so excited when I removed it from the tissue paper on Christmas morning.

  211. Shanna December 2, 2011 at 9:54 am #

I have to say, I lived for one of the cabbage patch dolls with wire hair (covered in some kind of fabric), so I could curl it, or brush it straight, or braid it, do anything to it and it would stay. I think I carried that doll around for years!

  212. Kelly December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

The best Christmas gift I ever received was a little table and chair set that my Grandfather built me. I used to sit my dolls and stuff animals down at that table and play tea. One time, my father even sat down on the tiny chair and put on a bonnet and played tea with me just to amuse me!

  213. Sarah December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

When I was about 9 or 10 I was obsessed with bugs and reptiles. {Yes, I was a girl obsessed with bugs.} For Christmas that year, all I wanted was this ‘Reptile Box’ that I had seen. It was supposedly filled with spiders and snakes and lizards.
Christmas morning came and soon all the presents were unwrapped. No reptile box. I tried not to show my parents how sad I was. A good amount of time passed when suddenly my Dad burst out “I think Santa dropped a gift in the chimney.” I jumped up and peered through the glass of the fireplace. There is was. A tattered box full of holes, exposing an array of reptiles.
I was the most awesome gift and an even more awesome way of receiving it!

  214. Sharon December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

A beautiful light-up dollhouse from my grandmother :)

  215. Claudia December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

The first thing I could think of was a play kitchen I once got from Santa, but then I read the other comments….how could I forget the Cabbage Patch Doll. My parents had such a hard time finding one that I had a knock off for a while until we could get our hands on the real thing. It’s a tie b/w the kitchen and the Cabbage patch doll (fake and real).

  216. Kate Hollstrom December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

One of the best gifts I ever recieved was a porcelane Harlequin doll in a peach satin and lace outfit. I had wanted that doll so much and I treasured it for so long. I couldnt stop looking at it, I thought it was just so beautiful!

  217. Kimber-Leigh December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

my favorite gift as a child was an american girl doll back when they were still made by the pleasant company. (i think it was the first year they were introduced.) i loved that doll well…and now my daughter loves the same “vintage” doll!

  218. Breanne December 2, 2011 at 9:56 am #

My favorite Christmas present as a child would be a little vanity table I received when I was 10. It matched my bed frame and I loved being able to sit and brush my hair or keep my “perfumes” on the table. Now as an adult I know what a sacrifice it was for my parents to buy that table for me. They have told me they saved for weeks (our family didn’t have a lot growing up), and I realize just how special that gift was.

  219. Cindy December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

My favorite gift was my Baby Alive & play ironing board & iron, oh & the plastic high-heel shoes! Ha! My parents made every Christmas magical for me! :)

  220. Mandy December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

When I was about 5 my very best friend fell out of a window and passed away. Very sad I know, but the sweet thing was, my babysitter (where my friend and I met) made me a “Howie” doll that looked just like him for Christmas. I lost it when I moved from home to go to college, but I will never forget it.

  221. Stacey December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

One year, my parents didn’t have much money to go toward Christmas gifts and they ended up giving me my most memorable gift! They fixed up a secondhand baby doll crib and my mom made a quilt and pillow for it out of my baby clothes. At the time, I loved it because my doll had a new bed :) but now, I love this gift because it is very sentimental to me and their thoughtfulness and loves is so apparent. I try to use this as a guide to how we think of holiday gifts for our son…it isn’t always about how much is spent, but about how much meaning is in the gift.

  222. Erika Herridge December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

My favorite gift as a child was when I got my first Cabbage Patch doll. I still have her birth certificate and letter I wrote to her. Weird I know but I haven’t been able to part with it.

  223. Hilary December 2, 2011 at 9:57 am #

When I was little, my parents surprised my sister and I with a trip to Disney World on Christmas. We opened up this huge box and a big Mickey Mouse balloon came flying out, with plane tickets attached to the string. We flew out that night for vacation. It was the most magical surprise ever!

  224. Noelani Hatton December 2, 2011 at 9:58 am #

My most favorite Christmas present was a bike from my brother that he got me right before leaving for the Marine Corps! :)

  225. Kim V December 2, 2011 at 9:58 am #

A really soft fluffy pound puppy comforter!

  226. Nicoly December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

It was a trip to go visit my older sister in Seattle (from Alaska) It was such a fun time and the memories are still with me even though my sister has passed on.

  227. Crystal December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

Oh the year of the American Girl doll, for sure :) It was magical, all those outfits, the little furniture, the books….I still have everything and can’t wait until my daughter is old enough to play with them!

  228. Scooper December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

10 years old: Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, a tan cordurory blazer, and a soft plaid button-up with a ribbon tie at the neck. It was 1983 and what can I say, I’ve always loved new clothes. : )

  229. Melissa Leedy December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am #

My homemade cabbage patch doll….loved it!!

  230. Erika Herridge December 2, 2011 at 10:02 am #

My favorite gift as a child was my Cabbage Patch doll. I loved her and still have her birth certificate. Weird I know but I just haven’t been able to part with it because I loved her so.

  231. Melissa December 2, 2011 at 10:02 am #

I received a doll named “Cricket” who was as big as me and had tape player built into her back. Her eyes and mouth would move along with the talking and singing on the tape. I still have her, but now I just find her creepy instead of magical like I did in 1986.

  232. Karen Wolfe December 2, 2011 at 10:03 am #

My favorite gift was a chemistry set from my dad. He got it for me when I was 11. It would be the last gift he ever got me because he was killed the following spring. :( I still have that chemistry set to this day and I’m 48 now.

    – Karen

  233. Sharon December 2, 2011 at 10:03 am #

My favorite was a baby doll with a complete wardrobe made by my mother.

  234. Jamie Wilson December 2, 2011 at 10:04 am #

My first bike was one of my all time favorite gifts. I can still picture coming into the living room and seeing my bike by the tree. I was so excited to show all my friends that afternoon.

  235. Carolyn December 2, 2011 at 10:04 am #

Oh wow…I think the best Christmas present I received was an Easy Bake Oven! I was so pumped. It makes so much sense seeing as how I LOVE to bake now (I’v baked three different things in the past 2 days for various events). It was meant to be!

  236. Nicole M. December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

My favorite gift to this day was a baby doll I received when I was five. I remember everything about her. My aunt and uncle (that were neighbors really) gave her to me and I loved her. Took her everywhere.

  237. sarah December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

a Christmas porcelain doll. I had seen it in the store and loved it and my dad surprised me and bought it for me as a “just because I love you” gift, which meant a lot since money was tight.

  238. Cassandra Pettigrew December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

When i was prob 10 yrs old i went to victorian country christmas with my mom, i fell in love with a porcelain doll… it almost made me cry!! LOL my mom snuck away while i was watching a show and i opened it christmas morning!!

  239. Sharon December 2, 2011 at 10:05 am #

    A frosty the snowman sno-ball maker. :)

  240. Leah December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

Hmm…that’s a tough one. I loved my baby doll. I named her Candy (yes, I was born in the 80’s) and had a fully stocked diaper bag with real baby food for her. I loved that doll:) Your kids picks are lovely. Those are my favorite types of gifts- imagination required!

  241. lisa g December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

My favorite gift was my black 10-speed with hot pink handlebars. yeah I said 10-speed. After all it was 1988!

  242. gretchen December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

I would have to say one of the best gifts I got as a child was this rag doll that I named Mary. I still have her to this day, holes and all.

  243. Kamilli December 2, 2011 at 10:06 am #

My dad made a huge dollhouse for me….complete with every little detail of a home…dishwasher with tiny little dishes, a toilet, a shower, etc… He used scrap pieces of linoleum and carpet from our own home, so it made it feel like it was my own house–only miniature! I LOVED that thing.

  244. krista farrell December 2, 2011 at 10:07 am #

Probably my most beloved was my cabbage patch doll or my dollhouse…

  245. Bethany Bergen December 2, 2011 at 10:08 am #

A (very-loud, super-cheap) sewing machine, I still have sweet memories of my grandmother teaching me how to use it!

  246. Sharon Herbitter December 2, 2011 at 10:08 am #

The best Christmas gift I ever got was a horse figurine that I just loved. I collected them because I wanted a horse so bad when I was growing up. This particular one was special because I’d seen it in the store and longed for it.

  247. susanna internicola December 2, 2011 at 10:09 am #

i’m remembering the christmas when we got a nintendo! can’t top that one!! :)

  248. Colleen Parten December 2, 2011 at 10:09 am #

I have 2 that are equal favorites! The first one was when I was 4 and I got an Easy Bake Oven. I remember it like it was yesterday, baking my Dad a little chocolate cake. I was in heaven and it started my love for baking. The second was when I was 8 and I got a Cabbage Patch Doll, (Priscilla), I still remember how she smelled:). The stores were all sold out, so my dad paid a co-worker double for theirs…he was so proud for me to open her up Christmas morning:). I still have her boxed up for my little girl.

  249. Katie Shappi December 2, 2011 at 10:09 am #

The very best Christmas gift I ever received was a handmade Cabbage Patch doll from my mom (She even sewed all the hair on her head :) )

  250. Beth December 2, 2011 at 10:10 am #

I absolutely love Land of Nod – my daughters’ nursery has been a Nod favorite of ours for the past 4 years! A Crate & Barrel owned store provides wonderful bedding and playroom furniture. They have a fabulous outlet located in Oakbrook – loved it more when it was in Northbrook! My favorite children’s toy is the Easy Bake Oven.

Happy shopping, celebrating and most importantly, spending time with family!

  251. Bethany December 2, 2011 at 10:11 am #

The gift I remember most of all was a porcelain doll with bright red lips, green velvet cape, and white fur muff. I thought she was beautiful!

  252. sarah smith December 2, 2011 at 10:11 am #

Definitely my play kitchen set. My mom even found one just like it for my daughter last year.

  253. Leigh December 2, 2011 at 10:11 am #

I think one of mine would be a trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico with my dad. I remember walking around the streets Christmas Eve and getting to see a Church service and how pretty it was.

  254. Karena December 2, 2011 at 10:11 am #

My Aunt Rose took me to the then Katz Drugstore (soda fountain and all) and said I could choose Anything in the entire store for Christmas! I picked a box of 48 Crayola Crayons!! It was the best gift ever.

My favorite gift I received would have been my cabbage patch doll(one of the travel ones from Holland)! My little sister had a preemie one and her big request to Santa was that she would grow hair magically overnight for christmas! Her preemie did just that…she put the preemie under the tree, and in the morning it was replaced with one with cornsilk hair! We were the happiest girls ever!:)

  256. Jennifer Hodge December 2, 2011 at 10:13 am #

I was fortunate to grow up with parents of considerable means. The very best gift my parents gave me was making me give away my toys every year to someone less fortunate. We all went to a homeless shelter with a huge box of each of our toys and helped the kids there “shop” in our boxes. It was so hard to give those things away, but it was such a powerful lesson. It helped knowing that I’d get all new toys in a few days and seeing the kids so appreciative was wonderful. That said– I honestly don’t remember a single gift except for a little AA boy baby doll I received when I was ~5. It was exactly what I had asked for and even anatomically correct. I loved this boy more than anything…

  257. Emily Kilpatrick December 2, 2011 at 10:14 am #

I got a Sony Discman for Christmas when they first came out. I was so surprised and thrilled! I used to listen to it in the car with a pillow on my lap to keep it from skipping.

  258. Sarah Carpenter December 2, 2011 at 10:15 am #

LOVE my cabbage patch doll that I got when I was 3. It is still at my parents house, and now my nieces get to enjoy playing with her :) That doll has definitely been well loved over the years!

  259. Ronica December 2, 2011 at 10:15 am #

My Grandparents always gave a wooden rocking chair for our first Christmas. Over the years it was used for so many different things. I rocked my dollies to sleep, played church, and watched movies in that chair. Sometimes it even got turned upside down to be part of an obstacle course. Now my 3 year old son enjoys playing with and he knows it is something special from Great Grandpa and Grandma.

  260. Traci December 2, 2011 at 10:15 am #

The best gift that I ever received as a child was a teddy bear that my cousins picked out for me. I got him when I was about 3 or 4 and I still have him (I’m 38). I slept with that bear until I was in college! He’s an heirloom now!

  261. Marla December 2, 2011 at 10:17 am #

A cabbage patch doll; at the time they were near impossible to get! I was covered in chicken pox when my mom & dad opened the door with a perfectly wrapped box. When I opened it I will never forget how excited I was and it made me forget how terribly uncomfortable and unhappy I had been! :) Merry Christmas!

  262. Ginny December 2, 2011 at 10:17 am #

A red bicycle, with no training wheels! Plus, that year I left out my autograph book, and Santa himself signed it! ;)

  263. Becky December 2, 2011 at 10:17 am #

It’s a little embarrassing, but the first gift that pops into my mind was a green suede bomber jacket. I was not so little… maybe middle school and I was SO STINKING excited about it! I loved that jacket… complete with a map inside. :)
And how I love land of Nod. They are so fun and whimsical. What a lovely giveaway!

  264. Rachel Rathgeber December 2, 2011 at 10:18 am #

My favorite Christmas present when I was a kid was a new cradle for my doll. I used it forever and kind of wish I still had it to give to my daughter.

  265. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 10:18 am #

    Such a GREAT giveaway!!
My favorite gift I remember as a child was a puppy!!
And being a parent now, I realize how much that decision probably cost my parents. They weren’t only giving me the puppy I so desperately wanted they were taking on a responsibility for themselves. I did my best with my puppy, but in the end, who takes care of it – MOM :) Love you Mom & Dad for that gift!!!
And Thanks Emily & Land of Nod for the chance to win!!

  266. Stephanie December 2, 2011 at 10:18 am #

When I was 11 we moved from Washington state across the country to Virginia, and I expected our first Christmas away from our family to be very dismal. One night my parents went out for the evening and returning told us kids to hide in a room until they brought their big surprise in. When we entered the living room, there my two grandparents sat on our couch! I will never forget the thrill and surprise of it, because it truly made Christmas feel right again since we were very close to my grandparents. :) It was definitely my best Christmas present ever!

  267. Ann December 2, 2011 at 10:19 am #

My mom made me a homeade cabbage patch doll that “looked” like me. I remember seeing her at night working on it and was in awe when I saw the final product! I think it’s even more special to me now that I’m older and understand how much time and love went into it.

  268. Meg December 2, 2011 at 10:20 am #

My favorite gift was having my military Dad home for Christmas. He was gone for quite a few, but sometimes we were blessed to have him home for the Holidays and that always made it that much more special! :)

  269. Hannah K December 2, 2011 at 10:20 am #

Every year my mom would fill a box with books I had requested. I couldn’t wait to hole up in my room and read all of them! Definitely the highlight for me, and I give my Littles books now too!

  270. Whitney December 2, 2011 at 10:20 am #

This Irish fairy doll — I found it in a magazine at my Grandma’s house over the summer and wanted it so badly for Christmas but I didn’t even know what it was called! My Mom & Grandma tracked it down and I was so excited to find her under the tree on Christmas morning. She had red hair, a green dress and beautiful fairy wings… I still have her! :)

  271. Jenell December 2, 2011 at 10:21 am #

not sure…I think at least one of my favorites was the year my mom and dad gave my three sisters and I all some type of a doll buggy, pram or stroller for our baby dolls

  272. Ashley haupt December 2, 2011 at 10:21 am #

Porcelain doll, dressed in green velvet with a white fur lined cape and matching hat. It was the first in my collection and I loved how beautiful she was. :)

  273. Amy December 2, 2011 at 10:23 am #

When I was 5, I got a craft desk from my grandma with a package of washable markers. Well, as she was wrapping it, she accidentaly wrapped her little roll of tape inside with the desk. I remember being so excited about the tape and running around trying to ‘fix’ everything in the house. My grandma has a picture of me (holding the tape up in the air like a prize) on the wall at her house still. :)

  274. alyssa December 2, 2011 at 10:23 am #

My big sister has always spoiled me with the best gifts! I remember being about 6 and getting an easy bake oven from her for christmas! She would always take her own allowance money to buy my gifts! She still knows what I like better than anyone else and makes sure I get it.

  275. Sarah W December 2, 2011 at 10:23 am #

My sister and I both got dolls for Christmas one year and they were awesome! They looked so real they fooled people when we took them on trips with us and left them in the car.

  276. Meghan Rickard December 2, 2011 at 10:24 am #

Best gift ever? I’d have to say memory or material is what sticks with me :) I remember one Christmas, my family was all over at my Grandparents’ house, and my cousins and I were all waiting at the top of the stairs Christmas morning before our parents said we could come down. Then I remember playing on the piano and singing Christmas songs.

  277. Elizabeth B December 2, 2011 at 10:24 am #

The best Christmas gift? I think it would have to be the time spent with family because while I don’t remember most of the gifts, I do remember all the fun hanging out with my parents and brother. So, my memories are the best Christmas gift I got as a child.

I love Land of Nod – this would come in handy because I’m registered there for my first baby due on 4/1/12. :-)

  278. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 10:24 am #

The very best gift I received as a child was a dollhouse built by my grandmother. My parents told me it took her weeks to put it all together. It was so special.

  279. Kara December 2, 2011 at 10:25 am #

One year my parents bought me real china tea cups so I could have tea parties!

  280. Hayley December 2, 2011 at 10:27 am #

A ballerina doll. She stood up with her bar on her toes and I thought that was AMAZING!

  281. Rebecca Rampton December 2, 2011 at 10:27 am #

Sooo funny that I have read multiple comments above about home made Cabbage Patch dolls! My favorite gift ever was definately a hand made Cabbage Patch doll, made by my clever mother. I named her Heidi. :)

  282. Aimee Steckowski December 2, 2011 at 10:28 am #

the very best gift i received as a child was when i was 10 my dad made me a simple wooden writing desk out of beautiful pieces of wood — it encouraged me to sit, write, be creative. it has helped to find my purpose in life & now own a small business helping other small businesses. that desk is my nightstand and is a constant reminder of the encouragement i have always received from my parents!

  283. Katie December 2, 2011 at 10:28 am #

My favorite Christmas gift giving was actually the stockings we got every Christmas. They always had fun socks, new underwear, pajamas, candy, hair things, jewelry, coloring books, pencils, and a small toy. It was the excitement of stockings that always got me out of bed early when I was little, now it is filling and giving the stockings to my children. Still brings sparkles to my eyes just thinking about it!

  284. Andrea December 2, 2011 at 10:28 am #

The very best Christmas gift I received was a replacement American Girl doll after a dog chewed mine to pieces :)

Wow, a lot of people loved their cabbage patch dolls. I also did. It was one that my mom made it for me. I also really loved getting a pink tackle box loaded with sewing supplies when I was about 6.

  291. Erin December 2, 2011 at 10:31 am #

Time with my family! My favorite Christmas memories aren’t physical gifts, they are they things my family did together. One year our Christmas present was a trip to Disney World and we got to fly! That was a big deal and it was so much fun!

  292. KellyW December 2, 2011 at 10:31 am #

I honestly can’t remember one favorite Christmas present as all I can recall are how all 5 of us siblings argued over what time we should wake up our parents to open presents. Then I remember the matching pajamas that we all wore to bed on Christmas Eve. It’s all of the details that I remember, not the presents. But, I will say that every year my parents got us a family gift – one year it was a VCR, another year it was a microwave oven, and another year it was Atari! I love Christmas!

  293. Ms. Stork December 2, 2011 at 10:32 am #

My most favorite gift was the a new doll and the doll house. My sister and I would play for hours and hours with them and it would never get old. I love how you could use your imagination and she could be anything you wanted her to be.

  294. amy December 2, 2011 at 10:33 am #

a record player and pink fuzzy slippers…for some reason they were in the same box. :0)

  295. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 10:33 am #

One year I got a Better Homes and Gardens doll house. Each set of mod 70’s furniture was wrapped seperately. It had a sectional couch and little potted plants to decorate with. Dreamy!

  296. Emily C December 2, 2011 at 10:34 am #

My sister made me a doll one Christmas. It’s ugly and very homemade, but it’s special and I’ve never been able to think about parting with it!

  297. Stephanie December 2, 2011 at 10:34 am #

Definitely the boom box with Paula Abdul’s Straight Up cassette. And I also loooooved the bag full of about a hundred fortune cookies – I loved those things so much and ate them like crazy while watching movies on snow days. Good times!

  298. Scottie December 2, 2011 at 10:34 am #

I got a broach from my grandmother one year–very special

  299. Kacy December 2, 2011 at 10:35 am #

    A mountain bike!

  300. Colleen Maestas December 2, 2011 at 10:36 am #

I would have to say my doll house. My dad made it and I loved it. I would set it up on a big table in the garage for my Silvanian Families (now called Calico Critters). I made smaller houses out of shoe boxes and had a whole town. I would play out there for hours and loved it!

  301. Jen Fedler December 2, 2011 at 10:36 am #

The best Christmas gift I got when I was a little girl was an American Girl doll, which came with a bunch of accessories and some clothes that my mom sewed for her.

  302. Melissa B. December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

My fav gift as a child was a Cricket doll, that doll that you put cassette tapes in the back of and she talked. Haha times have changed!

  303. Kim S. December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

Barbie dream house- hands down. It was the three story cardboard number with the elevator. I played with it until I was 13, and would still if I could get away with it. Ha!

  304. Patricia December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

A 3 ft. tall doll that was the same size as I. You could even use your clothes for the doll.

  305. Blake December 2, 2011 at 10:37 am #

The gift I remember the most was a huge art set with the most amazing paints and brushes. I was 7 or 8 and it really made me feel so grown up.

  306. michelle December 2, 2011 at 10:39 am #

The best Christmas gift I ever received was my husband (he was my boyfriend at the time, of course) proposing to me at Niagra Falls while visiting my family for Christmas!

  307. Brooke December 2, 2011 at 10:41 am #

    The Barbie Dream House!!

  308. Patricia McCarthy December 2, 2011 at 10:42 am #

My favorite Christmas gift growing up was my first porcelain doll!

  309. Angie Ewart December 2, 2011 at 10:42 am #

The best Christmas present I ever received was a Barbie doll house that my dad built and my mom decorated! My sister Mel and I loved it and have so many fond memories playing with our barbies in their awesome home! The Barbie house was a two story with four rooms plus a second floor balcony and lower level porch with a porch swing! He even made us a garage. It was truly the best present I have ever received not only because they did a great job building it, but also because they poured many hours into building us the best Christmas present ever!

  310. Kate December 2, 2011 at 10:43 am #

The best Christmas Present I ever recieved was finding out I was pregnant with my son. After years and years of infertility treatments…finding out he was on the way just before Christmas was truly a Christmas miracle.

  311. Rachel December 2, 2011 at 10:44 am #

Definitely would have to be my very own shiny red bicycle!

  312. Alyssa December 2, 2011 at 10:44 am #

Although it wasn’t my favorite thing when I received it, I still have the sewing machine my uncle gave me one Christmas and I’ve recently started using it again!

  313. ~Kristen~ December 2, 2011 at 10:45 am #

My best childhood Christmas gift was my American Girl doll, Samantha. I loved her and played with her for years! She is safely stored away for my little girls to enjoy one day (when her beautiful hair and clothes will not be too forcefully “loved”).

  314. Andrea December 2, 2011 at 10:45 am #

I was obsessed with teddy bears as a kid…and I got a brand new one each year on Christmas morning, mysteriously appearing on my bed overnight!

  315. Katie Sellers December 2, 2011 at 10:45 am #

So funny, I just read a comment and they had the same favorite gift as mine. I received a Cabbage Patch Kid that my mom made. Such an exciting morning for my sister and I — and I never knew the difference!
Thanks for the chance for the gift card, I would definitely be interested in Brady’s pic for my 4.5 year old.

  316. Delishhh December 2, 2011 at 10:46 am #

The best gift i received as a kid was probably a barbie and a science set. I spent hours and hours on that science set making thing flash and making alarms it was heaven – i still remember.

  317. Arlene December 2, 2011 at 10:47 am #

The very best Christmas gift I ever received as a child was a Ragedy Ann doll that my sweet grandmother handmade and hand embroidered for me. She is still my childhood treasure. I’m 40 and I still have her. I don’t have any daughters, just boys, so I’m holding on to her for a someday granddaughter.

  318. Traci Severson December 2, 2011 at 10:47 am #

The best christmas gift I received as a child was Merlin. I wanted that “electronic” game so badly and I got it! Wow how far we’ve come in all those years with electronics!

  319. Janna December 2, 2011 at 10:47 am #

Hmmm….you’d think this would be easier. I think the best Christmas gift I received was a big stuffed dog I named Hoggie Doggie. I still have him (at my parents house) and will be bringing him home this Christmas to put in our nursery.

  320. Christy December 2, 2011 at 10:48 am #

I didn’t get many Christmas presents as a child, but I remember getting a doll with red, strawberry-smelling hair hair one year. If you squeezed her tummy, she blew kisses. :)

I am a huge Land of Nod fan! Their products are classic, but modern.

  321. Lisa December 2, 2011 at 10:49 am #

I’m sure I didn’t appreciate it when I opened it, but what turned out to be one of my favorite gifts that I’ll always remember was a boxed set of the Anne of Green Gables series. I totally lost myself in reading them all over Christmas vacation and still love those stories!

  322. LauraLee December 2, 2011 at 10:49 am #

I got a Christmas mug in my stocking that is still my favorite. I drank my coffee out of it today. I might not have fully appreciated it then, but it’s a great momento from my childhood.

  323. Angie Kauffman December 2, 2011 at 10:50 am #

I would have to say my favorite Christmas gift wasn’t a package wrapped on Christmas day, but it came a few weeks before Dec. 25. My youngest sister was born almost 15 years ago in the month of December. She is the best “Christmas gift” I have ever received. (Btw I have another great sister, but she wasn’t born near Christmas) :)

  324. Michelle December 2, 2011 at 10:51 am #

I remember getting a bunny one year…named her Cinnamon!

  325. TCobb December 2, 2011 at 10:52 am #

Oh, my goodness! I love the Land of Nod stuff! My favorite gift I received as a child was my “pot-belly bear.” I slept with that bear every night till the end of my senior year of high school when one of my friends decided it was time for a new bear and gave me a little brown bear with a leather nose.

  326. Ali T December 2, 2011 at 10:52 am #

My grandpa built me a dollhouse that looked just like our house growing up, and my mom furnished one of the bedrooms in the dollhouse to look similar to my bedroom. I still have it in storage, just waiting for my future little girl.

  327. Jenn December 2, 2011 at 10:53 am #

The best gift I received as a child was an indoor slide with a little cut out space. I loved hiding in the small space that was just my size.

  328. Kara December 2, 2011 at 10:54 am #

I am pretty sure I was 9 years old and my grandparents gave my brothers and me Pipeworks. They were PVC pipes with joints and various attachments. They were basically like having life size tinkertoys. We made a chariot and car that we could ride on, a house, a wagonand many more things I can no longer remember. Nothing compares to that Christmas present as a child.

  329. Rachel {polkadots and puppies} December 2, 2011 at 10:54 am #

Oh, yay! I adore everything they sell! Hmm, my fave gift would probably be the Polly Pockets I received when I was six :)

  330. Lisa December 2, 2011 at 10:54 am #

My favorite gift was anything BARBIE! :)

  331. shara bachman December 2, 2011 at 10:55 am #

  334. Carl December 2, 2011 at 10:56 am #

Would have to be my remote contol car!

  335. Kara December 2, 2011 at 10:57 am #

My favorite Christmas present, especially looking back, was the gift of time with loved ones. My aunt was dying from cancer and she lived through Christmas and did not make it to the next. I was 13 when she passed away and it truly is one of my most cherished Christmas gifts-we were very close. Now that I am older, my childhood toys pale in comparison:)

  336. Jessica December 2, 2011 at 10:57 am #

my sister and I got a playmobile dollhouse one year – it was amazing!

  337. Angie December 2, 2011 at 10:57 am #

A Strawberry Shortcake doll in a stroller!

  338. Stacie December 2, 2011 at 10:58 am #

I would have to say my bouncy horse when I was 1! I don’t actually remember getting it but, my sisters and I all enjoyed it then it went to some younger friends for them to enjoy and is now back at Grandma and Grandpas for the grandchildren to enjoy! I love seeing my children playing with all of the toys my sisters and I had so many fun times with!

  339. Jolene December 2, 2011 at 10:58 am #

A barbie car with new barbie and Mom made a bunch of barbie doll clothes that year. Awesome!

  340. Anna December 2, 2011 at 11:00 am #

I love your site! I have quite a few of your prints in my home and they’re beautiful and encouraging. For sure, I’ve always been attracted to Land of Nod products. What a fun giveaway.

I always loved the baby dolls and fun toys I recieved, but now looking back I know, the best Christmas present I ever recieved was finding out 2 days before Christmas that my mom was cancer free (after 2 years of battling)! I am so thankful the Lord healed her and she is still with our family.

Merry Christmas to you and yours this season!!
    Anna

  344. Madge December 2, 2011 at 11:01 am #

wow, this’ll be a dead give-away of my age…haha. but all in the name of a 75 dollar gift card, lezzz do it! i was rooting for a walking doll that opens and closes her eyes but all i got was a Raggedy Ann doll. i was pissed at first but i fell in love with her only after a short while. amazing, because to this day, i still have her.:)

Thanks Emily, and Land of Nod for this opportunity!

  345. Julie December 2, 2011 at 11:01 am #

I don’t remember having one present that ever outdid the rest. One that sticks out in my mind however, is a Teddy Ruxpin bear that I thought was pretty awesome. It told stories, and sang, had a moving mouth and blinking eyes! They still make them! They’re that cool. :) Merry Christmas everyone!

  346. maren December 2, 2011 at 11:02 am #

My favorite was a big wooden barbie house. I also loved the year I got my cabbage patch doll. Fun memories!

  347. jane wood December 2, 2011 at 11:03 am #

The best Christmas present I ever got was a little scottie dog at age 6 in 1958. I loved that little dog. I got it from the neighbor across the street and kept it til it fell apart. My very first stuffed animal!

  348. Kelsea December 2, 2011 at 11:03 am #

I think it would be the dollhouse that my dad built for me!

  350. Jen December 2, 2011 at 11:05 am #

My very favorite Christmas gift as a child was the year that mom made beautiful barbie clothes for my sister and I. We each had at least 10 new outfits for our barbies. We were so excited!

  351. jane wood December 2, 2011 at 11:06 am #

As an adult the best Christmas gift was my daughter Kathy born on Christmas day 1972. No one could ask for a better present! They opened the whole maternity floor just for me!!

  353. Shannon December 2, 2011 at 11:07 am #

I love the Land of Nod, it’s where all my neices and nephews will be getting gifts this year!
The best gift I ever got as a kid was a fisher price Washer/Dryer Combo. It had a toploading washer with a basket, a front loading dryer and an ironing board that pulled out of the side. My family lost clothes for weeks after I got it because I was always “doing laundry.” Ha!

  354. Jessica Watkins December 2, 2011 at 11:07 am #

My favorite present growing up was a microscope! I used to put whatever I could under that thing! Still have it even!

  355. Heather December 2, 2011 at 11:07 am #

  362. Elizabeth S. December 2, 2011 at 11:13 am #

Oh wow – how generous of them (and it would make getting the stroller for our little ones possible!)!
My most loved present was the play kitchen that my aunt and uncle gave to my sister and me one year. It came with dishes, play food, aprons and everything! I remember playing with it for hours – cooking, talking on the phone … it was awesome!

  363. RachaelB December 2, 2011 at 11:13 am #

When I was little, I loved spending time at my Grandma’s house. The only children’s book she owned was The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein. I “read” that book so much the pages started to wear away, but I loved it. She died when I was about 10, and the book was misplaced or thrown out. A couple years later, a close childhood friend gave me the same book as a gift! I must have mentioned to her that it was one of my favorites because it reminded me of my Grandma. It was probably one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received, because she gave me a piece of her back with that book.

  364. Heather December 2, 2011 at 11:13 am #

    a unicorn blanket!

  365. andrea rade December 2, 2011 at 11:14 am #

My favorite christmas gift as a child was my American Girl doll! We had a rule in our house that you had to read the American Girl doll book before you could have the doll. I remember working so hard to get through that book!

  366. Whitney December 2, 2011 at 11:15 am #

Best gift I ever got was a cabbage patch doll. It was sometime in my childhood, can’t remember the year, but my mom ha managed to convince us girls there was no way we could afford the dolls and to stop asking for it. I was so surprised when I opened the box to find my very own cabbage patch doll.

  367. Joy December 2, 2011 at 11:15 am #

my first bicycle. it was pink, had a basket and pink and white handle bar tassels. AND my older brother picked it out. :) i remember my entire family standing around me, cheering me on …”you can do it!” i most certainly learned to ride that day!!!

The best Christmas gift i got as a young girl was probably a….. Shadow art set. I loved it….=)

  371. Corrine December 2, 2011 at 11:17 am #

My favorite? That would have to be the homemade cabbage patch doll complete with her own wardrobe, all homemade. Great memories!

  372. Amanda A December 2, 2011 at 11:19 am #

A couple of years ago I watched Christmas home movies with my family…it wasn’t too awful. What I remember the most was the delight I had as a child in any and every gift I opened Christmas morning. There are still some gifts that stand out in my mind, but I really look forward to seeing the same delight in my sons eyes and being able to share those memories with him when he is older.

  373. Kara Brown December 2, 2011 at 11:21 am #

I loved the year my parents got us snow skis. It was something I grew up doing from the time I was 5 years old. I remember the first little pair of skis I got on that Christmas and the trip up to Tahoe shortly after the holidays to try them out! The memories made with the beginning of a family hobby we all did together far outweighed any big TOY or fleeting thing I wouldn’t be interested in a month later… Don’t know if I can top that from Land of Nod toys but I LOVE their store, and have been looking at getting my girls new duvets from there (…in YELLOW, their favorite color!), so I know this would be awesome!!!

  374. Nona December 2, 2011 at 11:24 am #

My favorite Christmas gift was when I was five. My mom gave me a pair of red and silver pom-poms, and I looooooooved them. I never ended up being a cheerleader, but those pom-poms were a hit and I lovingly used them to make up my own routine for years.

  375. Anna Joy December 2, 2011 at 11:24 am #

I used to cry and cry because I always wanted a dog. But there were three of us kids and we were pretty little (who can blame my mom?). When I was 7 years old, I got a dalmatian calendar for Christmas and on the front was a post-it note that said, “I hope you can think of a good name for me because I’m coming home next week. Love, the new puppy.” Her name was Emmylou, and even though she was the family dog, I always said that since the note came on MY present, she was mostly mine :)

  376. Ashley December 2, 2011 at 11:24 am #

I know that I am complete nerd, but my favorite christmas gift as a kid was the typewriter I received when I was 12!

  377. CFB December 2, 2011 at 11:26 am #

I loved my American Girl doll – Molly – who had glasses just like me!

  378. Stevie December 2, 2011 at 11:27 am #

My dad once gave me a mini hot air balloon. It was basically a giant basket I could fit inside tied up with a bunch of big balloons and he had filled it with a few “friends” – stuffed animals. I would climb in to that thing all the time- even after bed time- as a first grader and pretend to travel all over. I hope I can do that with my kiddos some day too!

  379. Christina E December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am #

definitely an American Girl doll…I could have sworn that Samantha and I were soul sisters when I was about 8!

  380. Bernadette December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am #

The Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Horse was my favorite gift. I still have it and love it because my dad bought it for me from the used book store despite the fact that it was too expensive for my parents’ Christmas budget.

  381. Liz Cheek December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am #

Totally Long Hair Barbie…When I was 10 my dad was very sick with Hodgkins and he was not working being so sick. Our church family came to our home on Christmas with gifts for my sister, brother and I. That Christmas sticks in my head as what Christmas truly is about, Sharing God’s love and being selfless. Now we do the same as a family for others each Christmas. Thank you Lord for your many blessing!

  382. Leslie C December 2, 2011 at 11:29 am #

My favorite Christmas gift would have to be my first Barbie! I’ll never forget all the hours I spent dressing up her for a date with Ken. Ha!

  383. Jenny December 2, 2011 at 11:29 am #

I loved getting my first bike!

  384. Rachel December 2, 2011 at 11:29 am #

My favorite gift as a child was a Cocker Spaniel named Lady. We named her Lady because she looked exactly like the dog from the Disney classic Lady and the Tramp. I had wanted a dog for years and I loved her right away!

  385. Emily Humphries December 2, 2011 at 11:30 am #

The best gift I ever recieved was a doll house that my father built for me. It was awesome!

  386. beachmamato2 December 2, 2011 at 11:31 am #

hands down, the best would have to be my Darci doll’s hollywood model studio with spotlights that worked.

  387. Nancy December 2, 2011 at 11:31 am #

Love the Land of Nod. My best gift growing up as a kid was the “Peaches and Cream Barbie”. I was seriously obsessed with Barbie’s.

  388. Jaime Gray December 2, 2011 at 11:31 am #

My favorite Christmas gift as a child was the Precious Moments doll that you could display on a stand. I put mine proudly on the dresser in my bedroom.

  389. Gretchen December 2, 2011 at 11:32 am #

My sister and I got a kitchen set as a shared gift one year and it was enjoyed for years and years of “house” playing.

  390. Chelsea December 2, 2011 at 11:32 am #

Without a doubt, the very best gift was my Strawberry Shortcake kitchen, complete with red sink and faucet and sliding oven doors. I absolutely loved it! I cooked many a mud pie on that stove top. :-)

  391. Heather December 2, 2011 at 11:33 am #

I just adored the Cabbage Patch Kids my mother made us BY HAND. These dolls were nearly impossible to find in stores because everyone wanted them. It was even sweeter knowing that she tried unsuccessfully to buy them. She wanted us to have them, so made beautiful dolls that even looked like us. Ahh…mommy love!

  392. Raechel December 2, 2011 at 11:34 am #

I still remember the Christmas that I got my art easel. It was the most fantastic gift and really started me on my way to a creative future!

  393. Heather December 2, 2011 at 11:34 am #

A handmade doll from my mother…she didn’t craft much, so it was very special.

  394. Helaine December 2, 2011 at 11:35 am #

My very favorite Christmas gift was a Carousel Horse musical ‘snow globe’ from my mother. It was is so beautiful both the inside and the base, and the tune- so sweet. When my mom died when I was 13, I made sure that was one thing I would always hold onto from my childhood.

the one that poppedinto my mind was teeny. A colorful beaded barrette hidden away adn the last to be opened – from my aunt. to me. not to share. just a special little thing letting me know I was noticed and cared for and not just part of a really big family.
that my individual needs/wants were important.
    So sweet!

Without a doubt, my favorite childhood gift was Peaches & Cream Barbie {circa 1986ish, given by my Aunt Lynn.} Hours of endless love for that Barbie…I think she is currently living in my parents attic, and I saw they are selling her again at Target!

  397. Denise Ocker December 2, 2011 at 11:36 am #

Ok I know this may sound very different, but the Christmas I remember most was the year my Dad got me 2 baby calves for Christmas! I was so proud of them and loved bottle feeding them it we had them and there offspring for many yrs later and during those difficult teenage yrs I would go sit in the barn and talk to them and I always felt better when I left! I guess it was because they listened and didn’t judge me!!

  398. Summer Wilda December 2, 2011 at 11:38 am #

My Aunt made all of us a rag doll type of doll – similar to the cute ones that you make – BUT they were as tall as we were! (Kindergarten age) We LOVED them as they were ‘built in’ friends. I am pretty sure I still have her in my cedar chest.

  399. Jennifer Claar December 2, 2011 at 11:39 am #

The best Christmas present I received as a child… had to be my stuffed horse named Apples. I really wanted a real horse, but I prayed every night when I went to bed that he would become real.

my favorite Christmas gift growing up was a pair of ice skates. we have a pond and I always wanted to go skating. unfortunately, I only used them a couple of times! it ended up being a lot harder than I thought :)

  401. chelsea December 2, 2011 at 11:40 am #

The best gift I received as a child was one of those play kitchens- the “life size” ones with pots and pans and fake eggs and toast so I could “cook”. I logged a lot of hours in there!

The best gift I recieved as a child was my Madeline doll. I got her when I was about 5 or 6 years old. I took her everywhere – camp, she’s been through an airport security scanner, vacations, the movies, she even went to college with me (every single year)! Now I’m 23 and now she sits on my living room chair. Best gift that I will cherish and have the rest of my life i’m sure.

one of those battery operated 4 wheelers. My sister and I drove that thing everywhere. I think we went through 3 batteries. We loved it!

My favorite toy growing up was probably the Cabbage Patch Kid that my grandma waiting in line for hours before Walmart opened because she knew my mom wasn’t going to go to the hassle to get one for me :).

The very best gift I got was my cabbage patch doll. Shawna Jenkins. I still have her and after being washed several hundred MILLION ZILLION times, she still smells like powder. (My others do not) She had several hair cuts and ears pierced and her pacifier is long gone. But Shawna Jenkins lives in the playroom at my parents house. I pick her up every time I am there!

As a child, I was given a rocking chair, that was actually already mine, but had been repainted in a bright red, so it looked brand new. I still have that rocking chair. The same year, I also received my very first sleeping bag, which was a really big deal to me. Loved it. And then of course my diamond ring as my husband proposed 14 years ago…

  412. Stephanie L. December 2, 2011 at 11:50 am #

My favorite toy as a child was my Cabbage Patch Kid!!! Those were the days when people were getting trampled to get them…..I was SO excited! (and no one got trampled in the purchasing of my doll!)

  418. Tracy December 2, 2011 at 11:56 am #

My mom always knew the perfect gift to give me at Christmas. I usually asked for Cabbage Patch dolls or My Little Ponies (I’m a product of the 1980s). One year, though, my mom gave me and my family the best Christmas gift ever – my youngest sister! :)

  419. Janna H December 2, 2011 at 11:57 am #

My parents got me an electric keyboard when I was in junior high that I can still use now 15 years later but the most fun part about it was how they presented it to me. I opened up a small package from underneath the Christmas tree that had a clue in it that led me to another present so while we were wondering around the house and neighborhood looking for it they got it ready for me in my room. So fun and so thoughtful!

  420. Emily Tyler December 2, 2011 at 11:57 am #

The one that popped into my mind was my Purdita stuffed animal from 101 Dalmations. I even had a matching sleeping bag. I still remember waking up on Christmas morning and seeing her head sticking out of my stocking.

One Christmas I woke up to find Samantha, the American girl doll I had wanted with her books. And the best surprise was a trunk full of hand made doll clothes made by my Granny and her sister. It’s a gift I still treasure.

  424. Michele December 2, 2011 at 12:00 pm #

Every Christmas was magical– but the year I got my Cabbage Patch Kid was probably the best…especially now that I know how hard my parents hunted and schemed to find them for my sister and I!

  425. SaraU December 2, 2011 at 12:01 pm #

My favorite gift as a child was when I was in the 8th grade and received Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album (the vinyl record) from my Aunt Carol. Guess she had good taste in music!

  426. holly f December 2, 2011 at 12:01 pm #

My favorite thing growing up was a Texas Instruments Speak & Spell. We also had the first Atari system in the neighborhood so all the other kids were always over to play, but I liked the Speak & Spell better. :)

Fun giveaway! Love Land of Nod. My favorite gift would have to be my Cabbage Patch Doll. This was way back when people were trampling each other in malls to get one. Santa brought one for me, one for my sister. We were over the moon that year!

My Aunt Judy made a doll house for me one Christmas. It was beautiful. And now my Aunt Judy and my mom are remodeling it and giving it to my little girl this Christmas. I can’t wait!

  429. Ashlee December 2, 2011 at 12:02 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a Cabbage Patch doll (Carrie) that I got when I was 5 years old from my mom. I just had my first baby (a girl!) this summer and can’t wait until she’s old enough to inherit my Cabbage Patch doll and get one of her own! :)

  430. Kelly P December 2, 2011 at 12:02 pm #

The best gift I ever received was from my mom. It was the year my parents divorced and my mom was broke (I only realized this later, of course) so the Christmas budget was minimal. She was out shopping and came across a beautiful stuffed animal monkey that was not on my list and would basically take all the money she set aside for me, but she just knew I’d love it. She thought about it for days, then finally went back for it. She was absolutely right. I love that darn monkey (Goliath) so much I have slept with him every single night for the last 25 years. Not sure I sure really be admitting that as a 33 year old I still sleep with a stuffed monkey, but it’s true. I’m lucky that my hubs tolerates it ;-)

  431. Jessica December 2, 2011 at 12:03 pm #

My most magical Christmas morning was when I was 3 years old and Santa brought me a kitchen! All the food and dishes were laid out like I was in a store made especially for me! As a kid, I loved playing with dolls. My aunt used to always send us a whole box of stuff at Christmas. One Christmas she bought me a tiny little doll about 5″ tall, and she handmade some little clothes for it. I loved that little doll, and I played with it for years until one of the legs broke off.
My aunt died a couple of years ago, and I miss her so much.

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

  448. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 12:18 pm #

My favourite Christmas gift as a kid was Whitney Houston’s cassette tape “I want to dance with somebody”. I remember dancing around my grandparents house all day with a spoon in my hand singing. I don’t remember when I had more free-spirited fun as a child than that day.

  454. Angela December 2, 2011 at 12:20 pm #

I would say my favorite Christmas gift was a cabbage patch doll when they we a hot commodity. It had to have been the ugliest one they had but I still can’t believe my parents were able to get one!

  455. becky lynn December 2, 2011 at 12:21 pm #

I am not sure, but I would guess the year I got a barbie pool or the year I got a pound puppy. Its a tie!

  456. Kathleen B December 2, 2011 at 12:21 pm #

Sounds wierd and I don’t know exactly what it is called…but it was kind of like a plastic bug maker…I hold molds and would put in this liquid stuff in the molds and then cook it in a little play oven. After a little bit I would have plastic bugs! I LOVED it!

  464. Katie Boggs December 2, 2011 at 12:24 pm #

Love the toy ideas from Land of Nod! Favorite childhood Christmas gift was a toss up: my Mom spent hours on end, building & decorating a beautiful doll house for me that was waiting by my stocking as a surprise Christmas morning – she went all out, even wallpapered the walls in each room and had it decorated so cute. The love & time she poured into it were so evident, and I played with that house for years! Now my own children play with it too. That same year, my dear Grandmother had a special doll hand-made by a friend of hers. She took me with her when she placed the order, and had me pick out the fabric for the doll’s clothes, the hair color, ect… such a thoughtful, extra-special gift from my dear grandma! I guess the gifts that always mean the most, are those given with lots of love! :)

  465. Debbie O December 2, 2011 at 12:24 pm #

My favorite gift was special satchel school bag from my grandparents in Illinois. I think I was 8 or 9 years old. It came through the post brown wrapped and tied in string and for some reason I still remember it and think of the love and care they took in choosing it just for me. They were not of great financial means and I knew it was a special gift for them as well. I am misty eyed as I write this.

  466. Benjamina December 2, 2011 at 12:25 pm #

My sister and I received the Barbie house when we were six and seven. It was the best present ever. It had a tub that bubbled the water and we thought it was awesome.

The best gift I received as a child would have to be a Land Before Time Littlefoot stuffed animal. It was the softest thing I had ever felt at the time. And yes, I was an 80’s child so this was huge to me. I called him Dino-a la the Flintstones :)
    Happy Holidays to you Emily!

I would have to say now that I am grown I can see the best gift…and the only one I really remember…is the gift of being taught that Christmas is about Christ being sent to humanity because of God’s love and grace. I hope to pass this gift on to my children.

  477. Bethany Melroe December 2, 2011 at 12:32 pm #

To be honest, I don’t remember ONE toy as being the very best but I do still carry with me the traditions (eating lutefisk and going to candlelight service) as the very best present of Christmas!

  478. Jenna December 2, 2011 at 12:32 pm #

  479. Kathy December 2, 2011 at 12:34 pm #

I love the Land of Nod too! My favorite gift was probably my Cabbage Patch doll. My aunt went out on black Friday many years ago just to score a deal on one because my mom couldn’t afford one. She even found one with my same name! It was really special to me and a huge surprise, because I didn’t think I’d ever have one. We didn’t usually get the most popular toys because they were so expensive.

Strawberry Shortcake! I still have her (29 years later!) and every time I pull her from my box of old memories, her delicious strawberry smell brings me right back to that Christmas morning – twinkling Christmas tree lights, still dark outside, my brother and I stealthily making our way around the tree as to not wake mom and dad! My most favorite Christmas memory!

  484. Melissa December 2, 2011 at 12:40 pm #

The original Nintendo with Super Mario Bothers and Duck Hunt. We were fairly poor, my Dad was raising me by himself. I have no idea how he scraped the money together. I never even got another game for it ~the $ wasn’t there, but how I LOVED it! One of my most favorite Christmas memories!

  485. Jannell Barefoot December 2, 2011 at 12:42 pm #

My favorite was my Kenner Spirograph when I was eight or nine. I loved it!!!

he best Christmas was when I was about 10 and I asked for a hoola hoop for Christmas. My mom and my dad both bought me one separately and although I think they felt bad that they got me the same thing, I LOVED it! You can’t have too much of what you ask for!

The Land of Nod is wonderful!!! Thanks for offering this for someone! My favorite gift for Christmas growing up was a real “live” baby doll. It looked and felt as real as could be, and I loved getting to take care of it. Now I get to take care of 3 very real little ones each day!!! :)

  496. Henria O. December 2, 2011 at 12:48 pm #

We always had wonderful Christmases but I always loved the fancy party dress that my mom would include with our gifts! Next to that, I’d say I loved the 16″ bikes my mom got my sister and I. We rode everywhere on those bikes!

  497. lara December 2, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

I got a yellow kitchen set – a little stove, fridge, and dishwasher. I loved that little set!

  498. Mrs.BigTime December 2, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

My dad surprised me with a Samantha American Girl doll one Christmas, and I was blown away! I had been drooling over the catalogue for a long time and I finally had one of my own! What’s better, is that later in the year, he took me to an American Girl tea party and fashion show in Santa Barbara – just him, me and Samantha. Perfect! :)

My favorite gift was a Swatch phone that let you have 2 people on the same phone at once. As a teenage girl, that was mind blowing. We saw it in Tomorrowland at Disney World (2 hour drive from home) and then did not see it anywhere else. My mom told me that I shouldn’t expect it for Christmas but maybe at my Birthday in April. I was so disappointed. But on Christmas morning it was there under the tree. My Dad had driven from work to Orlando, got into the park and got the phone for me. I couldn’t believe that he would do that. But now I have my own daughter and I’d do it for her… full circle moment :)

My most favorite gift I received as a child was a large strawberry shortcake rag doll. It showed up under the tree unwrapped, Christmas morning with a note pinned to her dress. “Santa” said he was looking for a little girl to love this special doll and please take good care of her. The note was signed, “Love, Santa.” I loved that my Dad, a non-verbally affectionate person wrote this note and tried to disguise his handwriting. I was just on the brink of not believing in Santa and knew it was my Dad. That doll meant the world to me because of what it represented. I kept that note in my bible up until 5 years ago and cried when I lost it. Fun memory:)

My sister and I got baby dolls, my mom had just had a baby so we thought it was magical that we got babies of our own.

  502. megan December 2, 2011 at 12:52 pm #

I LOVE Land of Nod!! They have beautiful toys! Plan on doing all my little one’s shopping thru them this Christmas. I think my favorite christmas present was my Barbie swimming pool, loved Barbie.

  503. Alicia December 2, 2011 at 12:52 pm #

I remember receiving Barbie’s Soda Shoppe…with a real working soda fountain!! I love the Land of Nod and my son, Harrison, does, too. He’s been carrying around the Christmas mail-out for several days.

  504. Donna December 2, 2011 at 12:52 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift as a child? hmm…I have a lot of favorites, so I’ll just pick one! I really liked the big bean bag I got one year!

  505. susan isaacson December 2, 2011 at 12:54 pm #

My very favorite Christmas present as a child was receiving a brand new doll! We were extremely poor as a family, and one year we all received beautiful brand new dolls! They even took a picture of us with our opened presents! I was 6 years old. The funny part of this story is that my sister decided to alter her doll by putting lipstick on her doll and cutting her hair. She used a razor to try to get it off. And so, since her doll was ruined and mine still looked good, she ended up altering mine! We laugh about this. But that was a very special Christmas.

  506. Claire December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

My favorite gift as a child… I would have to say the LadyBug babydoll stroller. My grandfather bought and put it together for me (I was 5), he passed away that january. I still have it and my 2 year old plays with it. It is brittle and broken but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it. I snapped a picture of my son and my father playing with it over Thanksgiving. I’ll give my dad the photo for Christmas. It just makes my heart smile.

  507. Diana December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

This is going to sound cheesy, but I honestly cannot remember the best gift I got at Christmas when I was a child…and I’m only 29. I was going to say that’s sad, but I don’t think it is. I do remember the traditions we did as a family and those moments I remember well. So, I guess I can say the best Christmas gift I got was a family that loved me and raised me to love others. Those are the moments I want to share with my 2 year old son :)

  508. Selina December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

The best Christmas gift I ever received was a beautiful dollhouse built from scratch by my Dad. I have it to this day, and even though I have two little boys I’m hoping to be able to share it with some little girl someday.

  509. Gayle Warner December 2, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was the record player I received in 1959. It was the old, box type, with the cover that locked and the handle to carry it. I used that record player until I was out of high school in 1971. I wish I still had it!

  510. becca lapp December 2, 2011 at 12:57 pm #

i’ll never forget the year i got my american girl doll, kirsten. i had dreamed of having her, paging through the catalog for what felt like so long. i played with her for years & years…and now my daughter enjoys her, too!

  511. Amanda Turley December 2, 2011 at 12:58 pm #

The very best gift I’ve ever received was a homemade quilt made by my Grammy Bates out of fabrics that I remember seeing on her. I still have the quilt and cherish it. And when I really am having a bad day, or not feeling well, snuggling up in it makes me feel like she’s right there helping me feel better. It’s also helped me appreciate the amazing spirit that comes with homemade gifts. Early in my marriage my husband handed me my Christmas eve package (we do jammies) It was huge and bulky and all I thought was “if he got me a robe…” (lol) when I opened it, I just started crying. He had had our sister in law make me a quilt that mimiced the one she made him years ago but instead of black and red, mine was pink and white. ( I was always steeling his) As soon as I saw it I knew it was made and given with lots of love.

  512. cindi m December 2, 2011 at 1:01 pm #

the best christmas gift i received was the big barbie head where you could put on makeup and do her hair.

  513. Anita December 2, 2011 at 1:02 pm #

I have a hard time picking out a gift that really stood out, so I’ll share a gift my sister and I gave – unknowingly – to our father. He was away on an aircraft carrier for an almost year long cruise, so my mother taped (yes, cassette taped, remember those?!) our whole Christmas morning reaction and mailed it to him, with the addition of us singing carols and wishing him Merry Christmas. We got to listen to it again years later and just laughed and laughed at our young voices. Having children now (both grown and little) makes me realize how much that tape meant to him.
Thank you for this wonderful giveaway.

  514. Wanda Pray December 2, 2011 at 1:04 pm #

Hands down, favorite toy was the baby we could feed and change her diaper!
I was always begging my dad to go buy diapers for her. Who knew I would have a lifetime of feeding and changing diapers with five kids? Hubby gets the diapers now…dad was off the hook a loooooooong time ago ;-)

One of my most memorable Christmas gifts as a child was our puppy. Our parents totally surprised us by allowing the puppy to wake each of us up on Christmas morning. He was the family dog for years after that.

  516. Brook December 2, 2011 at 1:05 pm #

My favorite gift was a kitchen set. My Dad was going to make one for us, but was working so much he didn’t have time. Our kind neighbor had made a kitchen set for each of his granddaughters for Christmas and felt like he should make an extra one. On Christmas Eve he saw my Dad working on our front porch starting to build one and he told my Dad we could have his extra kitchen set. That gift has always been a true reminder of what Christmas is all about and that the Lord is aware of us all and blesses us through others…that was a long comment :)

  517. Christie December 2, 2011 at 1:07 pm #

Hmmm. That’s a tough one. The first one that jumps to mind is a set of twin Cabbage Patch dolls. I adored them, and now, my daughter loves playing with them. So grateful that my mom saved them so I can relive those fun memories through my own children.

  518. Lydia December 2, 2011 at 1:08 pm #

It would be a sort of drawing lap pad….kind of hard to describe. But it had paper on it that you could roll and tear off when you were done drawing and it came with stencils and cool things like that.

  519. Bethany December 2, 2011 at 1:09 pm #

I think I would have to say my favorite gift was my older sister Allison and my paper doll sets we got when we were about 8 and 10. We spent hours and hours cutting out all the outfits and accessories and hours upon hours setting up house. By that time we normally were too tired to play, but had so much fun every time.

  520. Graham Gal December 2, 2011 at 1:10 pm #

The very best Christmas gift I ever received was my little sister! My older sister and I prayed for years that God would give mommy & daddy another baby. And, to their surprise, He answered our prayer with a sweet girl.

  521. Tara December 2, 2011 at 1:11 pm #

Our trampoline!! We LOVED that thing until it blew away in a hurricane! And my parents did a whole scavenger hunt thing and went so far as to put cotton in the tree above it (b/c Santa had to stop and test it out before he left… and darn if his beard didn’t get stuck up there!) AND put some gnawed up carrots (thanks to our dog) on the back deck so we thought that the reindeer didn’t like the butt ends of our carrots! Such great memories!

  522. Courtney December 2, 2011 at 1:11 pm #

my favorite Christmas gift as a child was my favorite baby doll, who I named Ruby

    loved her!

  523. Sarah C December 2, 2011 at 1:12 pm #

I don’t know if it was the best, but it was my favorite gift as a child – a baby Rainbow Bright doll. To this day I can’t remember what her actual name was, but I loved that doll.

  524. Suzanne Manlove December 2, 2011 at 1:12 pm #

My favorite gift as a child was when my brother got his Playmobile set. We played with that for days and days. Not really my gift, but that’s the one that I remember the most.

  525. Jenn December 2, 2011 at 1:13 pm #

My hope chest… actually it was a toy box when I received it, then it turned into my hope chest and now it’s a blanket chest! Shaped like a bench with storage underneath!

  526. Cindy December 2, 2011 at 1:15 pm #

One year a wealthy uncle from New York sent me a big box from FAO Schwartz. It contained a baby bathinette that actually squirted water so you could give your babies a good bath. What fun I had playing with that wonderful toy. I have never seen another one like it!

  527. danielle m. December 2, 2011 at 1:16 pm #

I actually dont remember any gifts that I got as a child but I do remember the family trips we took to Tennessee and Florida every year for Christmas!!

  528. Renee December 2, 2011 at 1:17 pm #

A play kitchen that my mother designed / wallpapered / painted herself. Love.

  529. LauraH December 2, 2011 at 1:19 pm #

My favorite was the year I got my bike! It was a big bike with 3 speeds! I was so excited!

  530. Alissa December 2, 2011 at 1:19 pm #

My favorite gift was a Barbie Townhouse. It was so cool with the yellow elevator. My daughter uses the furniture that came with it now for her own Barbies.

  531. Tami December 2, 2011 at 1:21 pm #

My favorite toy was a stuffed bear that had a music box in his back. When he stopped working, I was broken hearted. My dad did ‘surgery’ on him and I colored and cut out a heart so he could still live, and then dad sewed him up. I still have him.

  532. Olga P. December 2, 2011 at 1:22 pm #

As a child (one of 11) I would always be excited when Christmas time came. We lived in Russia back then (15years ago) and Christmas is on January 7th of every year. My dad was the one that would go and get the gifts. He would have to go early in the morning and come back around 6pm. It was a bit of a travel for him but he did it every year. He brought home a HUGE bag of presents (for all eleven of us) in it was chocolate, mandarines, and sometimes chocolate eggs with a toy inside of them(those were special) I remeber each child would get about 5 or 6 mandarines, 1 chocolate egg with toy, and a couple of chocolate bars. Since our family had to save up the whole year for a Christmas present like this, we were SO happy every single year… Even though every year we got the same presents. Love these memories!

  533. Samantha N. December 2, 2011 at 1:22 pm #

My favorite gift was my own stereo for my room! I think I didn’t leave my room for awhile. I loved “blasting” my music!

  534. Christy Curtis December 2, 2011 at 1:23 pm #

Without a doubt, the Barbie Dream House changed my life! It was the most amazing Christmas gift as a kid. I think I love nesting, decorating, rearranging my furniture, and changing my clothes repeatedly because of that single, glorious gift.

  535. Beth December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm #

My sweet holly hobbie doll. I still love that girl.

  536. Kristen December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm #

It was a cardboard grocery store. It seemed so big and wonderful to me. It wasn’t until I was in college that my mom told me it was from my aunt and uncle… She surely told me as a child, but in my memory it was a lavish gift from Santa!

  537. Teena December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm #

A boxed set of the Chronicles of Narnia. It’s battered and tattered, but I still have it and can’t wait until my three kids are a bit older so I can share the set with them!

  538. Adriana L. December 2, 2011 at 1:25 pm #

my favorite gift was a real cash register my mom found at a garage sale. I was never really into dolls and liked pretending to be a teacher, mom, store owner, etc. The register even printed out receipts!!

  539. Nikki Davidson December 2, 2011 at 1:27 pm #

    Legos, legos, LEGO!

  540. Kira December 2, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

My mom always films me opening my big presents because I get so excited about most everything, but I remember one I really flipped out about receiving. It was when I unwrapped tickets to the play “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. The Broadway play was coming to my hometown with Donny Osmond as Joseph. I was so excited. However, it was worth the blackmail that video could be used for now. Donny was amazing!!!

  541. Bethany December 2, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

The gift I most remember was a Strawberry Shortcake vanity. I sat at it for hours fixing my hair and pretending to put on makeup! So fun!
I love The Land of Nod. Thanks for the chance!

  542. deb December 2, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

a pink paisley dress that had been beautifully wrapped from the store. since the wrapping paper was different than all the other gifts, i truly believed it was from santa.

  543. Janie December 2, 2011 at 1:30 pm #

The best Christmas gift I received as a kid was a gleaming white pair of roller skates that I wanted so much!

  544. Caitlin Peterson December 2, 2011 at 1:30 pm #

One year we got a kitten for Christmas. It was our very first pet, and my parents had put him in the basement to hide him and boy, did he do it well. It took us all day to find him!

  545. Jenny December 2, 2011 at 1:34 pm #

The most favorite Christmas gift I can remember are the jammies my mother made us all each year. We were able to open up one Christmas present on Christmas Eve and it was always jammies. I loved sleeping in them dreaming of the next day. My mother put a lot of work into them each year and they were so special.

  546. Martha December 2, 2011 at 1:36 pm #

My favorite toy was a Wrinkles stuffed dog from my sister (12 yrs older.) I took her everywhere and now my daughter loves to play with her. thanks!

  548. Alisa Decatur December 2, 2011 at 1:38 pm #

Not that I can draw good by any means, but my favorite Christmas gift as a child was an art easel.

Thanks for the opportunity. I love Land of Nod.

  549. Lauren Fretwell December 2, 2011 at 1:38 pm #

I’m not sure I had a favorite gift, but I always had a favorite method by which I got a gift. My dad was masterful with words and would write scavenger hunt clues that led us to our gift. The most memorable one would probably be the trampoline that was hidden back in our yard.

  550. Jessica December 2, 2011 at 1:39 pm #

My very favorite gift was a handmade dollhouse for my sister and I, made by my wonderful father! He passed away this year, in March, so the memory to me is all the more special!

  551. Heather Brown December 2, 2011 at 1:42 pm #

I remember how excited I was Christmas morning, when I awoke to find a brand new white and silver bike under the Christmas Tree! I was soooo excited and still have fond memories of my father teaching me to ride it without the training wheels.

  552. Marnie December 2, 2011 at 1:42 pm #

What a cute site, thanks. Barbie stuff, always the best gift.

  553. Nikki December 2, 2011 at 1:45 pm #

Oh my….the best Christmas gift was probably the Cabbage Patch doll my grandma made for me. She was one of the most played with, well-loved toys of my entire childhood!
P.S. The hubs and I just found out we’re expecting baby #1, so a shopping trip to Land of Nod sounds amazing just about now. :-)

  554. kristin M December 2, 2011 at 1:50 pm #

The very best gift I ever received was actually a life-long lesson wrapped as a sled. The year my mother bought me a wonderful wooden sled on runners was the year I discovered where she hid the Christmas presents. Yeah, I peeked. at.every.one. It ruined Christmas, even if my sled was lots of fun. I love surprises and there was not a one that year because I’d ruined it for myself. Now you could tell me exactly where my present is hiding and I WILL NOT LOOK!!!!!!! No peeking, no shaking, no poking. I learned my lesson.

  555. Cassi December 2, 2011 at 1:50 pm #

My great grandma gave me “Chris-mutt” the Christmas I was almost two. Affectionately renamed “Doggy”, she went everywhere with me. My daughter is nearly two and I hope she finds great joy this Christmas!

  556. Autumn December 2, 2011 at 1:50 pm #

My parents got me a Betsy Wetsy doll as a child. It wasn’t my favorite gift that I’ve ever received, but at the time, I was too excited! I knew what it was before I even unwrapped it! :)

  557. Lauren York December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

When I think of my childhoodm Christmas gift, the one I remember being so excited about was a pink Strawberry Shortcake bike with a banana seat! Loved it and wish I still had it :)

  558. Carly December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

Barbies, Barbies and more Barbies. Lined up on the fireplace after I went to bed on Christmas Eve, I would get the newest Holiday Barbie every single year as a little girl among other Barbies and accessories. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world every single Christmas morning for as many years as I can remember.

  559. Lani December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

it was hard to think that far back at first, sorting through mental Christmas past, but then I stopped and got misty-eyed when I thought about my Thumbelina doll that still sits on a shelf in my living room because I loved her so much! My mom had to mend her, my dad wired her head back on, she doesn’t move anymore when you pull her string, her hair is matted…but I love her anyway…so she has a place of honor.

  560. lauren December 2, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

probably would have to be searching for the cash in the christmas tree. i wish we still did that :)

  561. Sarah December 2, 2011 at 1:53 pm #

I got a unicycle one year that I tried and tried to learn how to ride but could never quite get the hang of it. I did enjoy trying, though. I would hang on to the gate around the tennis court, pulling myself along with my hands.

  562. mrs meredith December 2, 2011 at 1:54 pm #

Favorite childhood gift? The game of Monopoly – I played it for HOURS!

  563. kristen December 2, 2011 at 1:54 pm #

my favorite christmas gift growing up was a rollerblade baby doll. i was six and it just so happened that i caught -ahem- Santa bringing in the gifts, so we had christmas at 5:00 a.m. that year!

  564. Harriet Harrison December 2, 2011 at 1:55 pm #

I’m a grandmother so my gift memories are older than most, I suppose. My grandmother gave me all four of the Madame Alexander Little Women dolls. I got one every Christmas starting when I was 6 years old. I still have them. The oldest one is now 61 years old. That’s an old doll…not to mention an old woman who owns them :). Someday, when they are a little older, I will give them to my granddaughters.

  565. Megan D December 2, 2011 at 1:56 pm #

I love Land of Nod, but have never been able to afford buying anything fo rmy kids from there. What a great Christmas giveaway! One of my favorite Christmas presents as a child was my Samantha doll from the American Girl collection. I just loved everything about that time period and wished that I could have gone back in time and lived then ;) Now my daughter enjoyed playing with her and I read the stories to her. Good times!

  566. jen December 2, 2011 at 1:56 pm #

my favorite gift was always whatever book I got that year…we would all get books as gifts & spend most of the rest of Christmas day laying around reading…great memories :)

One year Santa left us one BIG family gift…a VCR. So funny to think about how obselete they are now.

  570. Emmeline December 2, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

Hard to pick one – but I loved the Barbie Dreamhouse… My parents were up until 4 or 5am putting labels on the little bottles and cans and pulling apart the plastic silverware (REALLY!) that came with it. And of course, we were probably up no later than 7am. :) Wonderful parents!

  571. sdnyjo@gmail.com December 2, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift as a kid was “Santa Bear.” He was a white teddy bear with a Santa hat and scarf :) I swore growing up that he chased away my nightmares, and he slept next to me every night!

My Cabbage Patch doll. :) It was long time favorite!

  573. Katie December 2, 2011 at 2:01 pm #

I was raised as Jehovahs Witnesess so we didnt get to celebrate holidays. (We are no longer, SO thankfully!!!). So…the best Christmas gift I can think too list is the fact that I get to experience Christmas for the first times through the eyes of my daughter. She is 2 1/2. Super Exciting and I fully intend to make all her Holiday’s extra special!

  578. Tara Johnson December 2, 2011 at 2:09 pm #

My best gift was definitely my saddle. My parents always supported my dream of riding horses, but given we didn’t have much and they still managed to afford a saddle for me was huge. It was a Christmas I will never forget.

  579. Katie December 2, 2011 at 2:12 pm #

A visit from my grandparents! We lived in different states, and they usually arrived at our house just in time for Christmas!

Wow! What a generous giveaway! One of my favorite gifts as a child was a makeup kit! However I never really got to play with it because my little sister went into my room and ruined the lipsticks by pushing them up with the lids still on! Ugh! Ha! Thanks for the chance!

  581. Heather December 2, 2011 at 2:15 pm #

My favorite gift was red bicycle from santa. Unfortunately, my cousin informed me that it used to be her bike and therefore my belief in santa was dashed :o). It was a great bike though!

  584. Margaret December 2, 2011 at 2:21 pm #

My favorite childhood gift was a much-longed for cabbage patch doll. It came with real cornsilk hair that was washable! A dream!

Probably my most memorable gift was the Barbie Dream House – that was such an exciting year. I got the “biggest” wrapped gift under the tree :)

    Rollerblades!

One year I really wanted to Hugga Bunch doll. My mom thought they were the most ridiculously fuzzy things plus I don’t think she had the money to spend on such a doll. So she made me a pillow in the shape of the doll out of fabric that had the doll printed on it. Needless to say I was so disappointed.

I say that it is one of my favorite Christmas gifts because now we can laugh and laugh about it. What a memory!

def my fisher price record player. it was brown and had the cover that snapped on over it and a handle so i could take it anywhere (and i did!).

My dairy farming parents told us that they bought us a huge chocolate bar from the milk company one year. However, it came too early for Christmas, and they had to hide it in the barn. On Christmas morning, we all donned brooms and rakes in order to fight off rodents of unusual size (ROUS) that were probably gnawing on our beloved huge chocolate bar. We were delighted to find that a) there were no ROUS and b) the huge chocolate bar was actually a trampoline! :)

My heart smiles just thinking about the Christmas I laid eyes on my brand new, hot pink, kid-sized Barbie car! As soon as I spotted it I just hopped in the driver’s seat and took off (at a speed of about .5 mph, probably). It was one of those Hot Wheels brand inventions, and it even had a car phone. When you pressed the buttons on the car phone, Barbie’s voice said things like, “Let’s go to the mall!” I was one happy little girl!

  591. Janae B December 2, 2011 at 2:32 pm #

A pink LEGO mansion. I LOVED it! I don’t think we have it now, which is incredibly sad, since I have a child that will start LEGOs soon. It had a clear plastic elevator and tiny clear plastic wine glasses for the little figurines to hold. My Dad thought it was so cool that he ended up taking over while I was putting it together on Christmas Day. But I played with it so much! I wasn’t as in to Barbies as I was to LEGOs, so this was like a Barbie DreamHouse for me :)

  592. Laura L December 2, 2011 at 2:32 pm #

My most memorial gift was a card table “house” that my mom made my brother and I. It was a hand sewn cover that went over our card table and it had a house on one side (for me) and a fire station on the opposite side for my brother. It was awesome and we spent a lot of time in there!

  593. Jess T. December 2, 2011 at 2:34 pm #

The very best Christmas gift I received as a child was a set of American Girl Samantha books from my godfather. I love the Victorian era (even then), and I can pass the books on to my daughter in a few years.

Thanks so much for the generous giveaway! Christmas blessings to you and yours!

  594. Anna December 2, 2011 at 2:37 pm #

    A ping pong table!

  595. Lacey December 2, 2011 at 2:39 pm #

My favorite childhood Christmas gift was my Baby So Beautiful twin baby dolls. Kind of wish I would have kept them for my daughter=)

  596. Anya Phillips December 2, 2011 at 2:40 pm #

My favorite gift was a pair of vans shoes. I wanted them so bad and my parents said they couldn’t get them…so it was a total surprise. I will always remember that Christmas.

  597. SharonMK December 2, 2011 at 2:41 pm #

My favorite gift was a red-haired cabbage patch doll. My mom sat it on the couch so I could see it when I got home. It wasn’t under the tree, but I still remember how excited I was when I saw it!

  598. Desiree December 2, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was actually a memory that impacted my life forever. I was about 6 or 7 yrs old and had a friend that lived down the street. She was raised by a single father and was very poor. They were not going to have Christmas because her father simply couldn’t afford gifts. My aunt and uncle lived right next door and had no children. They decided to bless my friend and her father and give them tons of Christmas gifts. I’ll never forget the compassion that was shown that day. Now, as a mother of two, I try to instill that trait into my own children.

  599. Jaclyn Bishop December 2, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

My dad and brothers made my little sister and I our own kitchen set! It was so beautiful. My sister filled it with fake food and I used it for all my baby dolls beds. Yep. Freezer babies.
    Love LON!

  600. Becky December 2, 2011 at 2:45 pm #

My favorite gift was definitely the Barbie Dream House :)

  601. Linda T December 2, 2011 at 2:45 pm #

The best Christmas gift my parents gave me was not a gift that need to be unwrapped. Rather, it is the memory of not having a tree, Christmas presents, or Christmas cookies, but taking a two week trip to Mexico (driving from Chicago) to visit my mother’s family. We did this every other year as I was growing up. The best thing is my sisters and I never felt like we were cheated out of a “typical” Christmas with presents and tree. We were thrilled to be with our family who we didn’t get to see as often.

  602. Stacey December 2, 2011 at 2:46 pm #

The most memorable gift I received as a child was the first Nintendo Gaming System – probably because I found it in my mothers’ closet when she told me to go grab her a pair of shoes. Now who would do that to a child and not expect them to see it in plain sight!? She had us convinced it was taken back to the store…what a surprise for us on Christmas morning!

  603. Audrey December 2, 2011 at 2:48 pm #

My favorite gift I received as a child was a big chalk board. I dreamed of being a teacher as a child and that chalkboard made my “classroom” seem so real! I played school with my little brothers (poor them!) and my stuffed animals for hours on end. And yes, I became a teacher – but chalkboards were obsolete by then! :) Merry Christmas!

  604. Lydia Travis December 2, 2011 at 2:48 pm #

the best gift I ever received as a child was this fluffy teddy, I still have it and now my son plays with it

  605. Ellen S December 2, 2011 at 2:48 pm #

My most favorite present was a cardboard house that looked like Mr. Hooper’s store on Sesame Street

  606. Tanya December 2, 2011 at 2:52 pm #

I can’t remember most of the stuff. What I remember most is just how special that my mom made everything. I do remember loving “The Sunshine Family” and I think I got them for Christmas.

  607. Susan December 2, 2011 at 2:55 pm #

Was wayyyy back in the day when ‘fancy’ dolls were unheard of. My grandfather gave me a BEAUTIFUL bride doll, complete with gown, veil & pearl earrings that you could pin in & out of her head! She was so pretty & could actually be played with & not just looked at. Still remember that from many years ago!

  608. Courtney M December 2, 2011 at 3:01 pm #

I had forgotten about this until recently, but I loved Fashion Plates!

  609. PamK December 2, 2011 at 3:02 pm #

My favorite gift was Baby Thataway. She crawled and though she had a hard outer body she was still a great doll.

  610. Amoreena December 2, 2011 at 3:02 pm #

My preemie Cabbage Patch doll, Noreen (That’s what the Birth Certificate from Xavier Roberts named her). They were in high demand that year– 1984, maybe? I was thrilled that I got one. I used to love “mothering” and dressing up dolls. Now, this Christmas, for the very first time, I have a real-life “doll” of my own to dress up. I love you, Luca (my two month old son)!

  611. Rebecca Christian December 2, 2011 at 3:08 pm #

One year my mom made me a baby doll bed and gave that to me with a new baby doll. She also made several outfits for my new baby. I loved it because I knew she worked hard on it and that made me feel special.

  612. Jill Johnson December 2, 2011 at 3:09 pm #

A purple trench coat that made me feel so grown up when I wasn’t!

  613. Megan December 2, 2011 at 3:15 pm #

I read a lot as a kid so my wishlists always included several books. St. Nicholas still brings us each one for our stockings – now I have quite the collection to look back on.

  614. Rebecca December 2, 2011 at 3:15 pm #

I remember the Christmas my brothers and I got the original Nintendo! Can’t go wrong with that!

  615. Charity G. December 2, 2011 at 3:16 pm #

The very best gift I ever got as a child was a set of furniture for my baby doll made by my grandpa out of PVC pipe. There were 3 or 4 different things (bed, stroller, highchair) and my grandpa reglued them over and over again because they got so much use.

  616. Laura December 2, 2011 at 3:16 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was my talking doll…it was like magic to pull the string on her back and have her talk to me. I was so proud of that doll!!

  617. Rylee December 2, 2011 at 3:17 pm #

I wanted, wished and waited for so long to have an American Girl doll, and when I was 9 I received Molly. That was by far one of the best Christmas gifts :)

  618. Kari December 2, 2011 at 3:21 pm #

The Malibu Barbie Hawaiian Fun Hut. It actually had a hammock! My dad woke up really early with me the next morning and we spent hours putting it together.

  619. Karol December 2, 2011 at 3:22 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a baby doll. She came with many outfits including a snowsuit. I loved that doll and still have her. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  625. Kristel December 2, 2011 at 3:39 pm #

I got a stuffed sad faced dog from the flea market, it cost just a dollar.

  626. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 3:50 pm #

I also love Land of Nod! The gift I was most excited about as a child was a cabbage patch doll. “Santa” gave her to me when I was either 2 or 3. It was the first toy that I really asked for. I could barely be parted with her.

  627. Adrianne Pavlik December 2, 2011 at 3:51 pm #

One of the most memorable gifts I got for Christmas was a Flounder stuffed animal from the Little Mermaid movie. He was HUGE in my eyes. I remember wrapping both my arms around the giant stuffed fish to waddle around and carry him everywhere.

  628. Kati December 2, 2011 at 3:52 pm #

My Cabbage Patch Doll. I wanted it so badly…..and was SO excited that I got it!

  629. Sara December 2, 2011 at 3:53 pm #

I remember being the most excited to get a PJ Sparkles doll when I was a little girl. My grandpa hand carved a real mini rocking craddle for her to sleep in. I regret every day for not saving that craddle.

  630. Lou Ann Moore December 2, 2011 at 3:53 pm #

As a child, I collected Madame Alexander dolls and looked forward to getting one every year for Christmas. I’d love to win this gift for my 2 year old grandaughter, Lyla. Thanks.

I remember how cool it was to receive a “boombox” one Christmas (perhaps the same year my brother got his Atari!) And the rest is history…ancient history. ha ha

  632. abbey December 2, 2011 at 3:57 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a little locket like the one from the movie/play “Annie”. My aunt gave it to me when I was about 4 and we had to “chip” away the top piece to reveal the secret message of “I Love You” beneath. I wore it all the time and it made me feel so special. It became very dear to me however when she passed from cancer a few years later, I was too young to understand it but felt her love every time I wore the locket.

Whoop! Whoop! I LOVE Land of Nod!
My favorite gift for Christmas was a BEAUTIFUL dollhouse that my parents made for me the year I was eight. My father built the house and my mother hand made ALL the furnishings. Can’t wait to do the same thing for my daughter. She is only 6 months old and we are already planning it!!!!!!

  642. Lemonade Makin Mama December 2, 2011 at 4:33 pm #

OH I KNOW!! My very best Christmas gift was when I was ten… my uncle and aunt worked for weeks, making me a wooden doll house. It had wallpaper, curtains, carpet, little sofas and even a clock hanging on the wall! If that wasn’t enough, my aunt made me this darling padded box just filled with goodies for the dollhouse, all carefully tucked inside. I’ll never forget that Christmas as long as I live!

    Merry Christmas girly!

  643. Kirsten December 2, 2011 at 4:34 pm #

Ohh…that’s a toughie! I’d have to say that my favorite gift when I was a child was a mermaid bath doll that my grandma bought me. For some reason, it just stands out. I loved it.

    Merry Christmas!

  644. Melanie December 2, 2011 at 4:35 pm #

    Oh what an awesome gift!
One of my favorite gifts that was given to me from my parents was a Donald duck cookie jar. I was five and for some reason I loved to continually keep it clean after all the cookies were ate. One day as I was cleaning it I dropped it on the kitchen floor, breaking into pieces. At the same time my hear was breaking into pieces. I was so sad. ;)

  645. Jyl Fearn December 2, 2011 at 4:36 pm #

My favorite christmas gift came from my husband 7 and 1/2 years ago. He proposed to me in my home in front of our fireplace on my favorite day of the year (: Every time I look at my ring I remember that special day.

  646. Danielle B. December 2, 2011 at 4:37 pm #

I have a few gifts that I was super happy to get as a little kid, but the one that I would say is most memorable was when my parents bought me my first mountain bike. It was a purple and gold Mongoose and it meant a lot to me because my parents loved mountain biking. I felt like I was special because I had something similar to what they had!

  647. sarah ellen December 2, 2011 at 4:42 pm #

My Grandma bought me my first sewing box with all sorts of sewing tools inside, when I was only 6! I think that sparked my creativity and confidence to try out my ideas.

  648. Elizabeth December 2, 2011 at 4:43 pm #

Hands down the BEST Christmas gift I got was when my sister and I got a shiny red power wheels jeep! I’d love to win this gift card to get my 3 year old something cute from the land of nod!

  649. Linda Davis December 2, 2011 at 4:50 pm #

One of my favorite Christmas gifts ever, was given to me the year I was in the 6th grade and Rabbit fur coats were all the rage… yep, you know it- I got one!! I was so excited!! I wore it every day until the boy sitting behind me in Social Studies started pulling the fur out and blowing it into the air for entertainment- ugh- b.o.y.s. :)

  650. Amanda December 2, 2011 at 4:51 pm #

One Christmas my dad was in charge of all the shopping because my mom was on bedrest with my little brother. He arrived 4 days before Christmas, but by then Dad had already gotten everything. It was a blow out Christmas! I got a scooter and a white horse with purple mane and tail. I don’t know why I loved that thing so much, but in combination with a new and much prayed-for baby, it was the best ever.

  651. Carol December 2, 2011 at 4:52 pm #

My Baby TenderLove doll was the best present I received when I was a little girl. My two sisters also got them and we played and played….fun memories!!

I love the magic/spirit of Christmas and my best gift was when I received a bell from the Polar Express…complete with message from Santa and in it’s own special box. I show it to my students (I’m a teacher) to keep the spirit alive! Who knew a bell would be such a keepsake for me… ;)

The best Christmas gift I got as a child was a little red toy piano. My aunt played piano, and I wanted one of my own. Our family had gone to our grandparents for Christmas, and on the way home (which was 50 miles away), I plinked, plinked, plinked on that little red piano until I had almost driven everyone crazy. Just thinking of that piano brings a smile to my face.

  662. Jessica Harris December 2, 2011 at 5:39 pm #

My all time favorite gift was my first Cabbage Patch Kid. Her name is Roxy and she came in a blue dress, and has brown hair and brown eye (just like me) her birthday is Dec 1st (mine bday is Dec.23). I still have her at my mom’s house in my room that I grew up in. Ohhh…. Happy Days

  663. katie December 2, 2011 at 5:40 pm #

That would have to be my American Girl doll, Kirsten. My sister and I spent so many hours playing with our dolls and drooling over the items and accessories available from the catalog. We would save up our own money so we could order new accessories and the excitement when they arrived in the mail was almost too much to handle! I feel so old knowing that my doll is “retired” from the collection now…

  664. Helen December 2, 2011 at 5:40 pm #

    Great giveaway!

It would have to be that Easy Bake Oven…I had to wait a few Christmases…so I was a bit older than usual but I loved it…and couldn’t wait for my own daughters to have one as well.!

  670. Jessie December 2, 2011 at 6:08 pm #

When I was 10, my parents sent my sister and me on a scavenger hunt around the house finding clues that would ultimately lead to our big gift of the year…a trip to Maui. I have more memories from that trip than any other from when I was little, LOVED the time with my family!

  675. gina toothe December 2, 2011 at 6:19 pm #

Probably my Mrs. Beasley doll. You pulled a string on her back and she talked too. She was from the 60’s show A Family Affair. I still have her and in elementary school brought her to show and tell. My best friend got one that year too and we went up to show and tell together in front of the class and pulled our dolls strings and would you believe they both spoke the same thing!! lol. will never forget that. ;)

  676. Julie Ann December 2, 2011 at 6:20 pm #

My favorite gift came to me when in 1987 when I was 7 years old. I am the one of six children, and that summer my mom was diagnosed with cancer. My youngest brother was only 1 year old and the oldest was 14. We lived in rural Nebraska and at the time the closest cancer treatment center was 4 hours away. Our family was divided most of the year, living with our grandparents in another state so my mom could get treatments there. Financially it was a huge undertaking. I didn’t realize the situation then like I do now, but looking back my parents had to be wondering how there would be a Christmas at all.

A few days before Christmas there was a knock at the door and a local church started bringing in boxes and boxes of food and a gift for each one of us. It still brings tears to my eyes as I write this. In the boxes they brought there was a Barbie for me. My first Barbie. She was beautiful! Twenty-four years later, I still have that very Barbie.

That day I saw my mom cry for the first time (the only time I saw her cry) throughout all of her cancer treatments.

That is the most memorable gift as far as material possessions go, but the real gift is that my mom is still here with us to celebrate Christmas 24 years later.

(ps. Sorry to get so long-winded and emotional, but what’s Christmas without a few tears, right?)

  677. Wendy G December 2, 2011 at 6:20 pm #

The one that stands out in my memories was a doll bunk bed. I loved my Cabbage Patch dolls, and to place them in bunk beds at night was a dream cone true for me!

  678. kaitlin December 2, 2011 at 6:29 pm #

My favorite gift as a kid was probably a boombox which played tapes and cds. To go along with it, I got a Whitney Houston tape which I played ad nauseum…mind you I was probably 6 years old. That tape was the reason all of my baby dolls for the next two years were named Whitney.

  679. catherine December 2, 2011 at 6:29 pm #

Is the link not working? I wanted to check out the goodies but couldnt get there.

  680. Leslie December 2, 2011 at 6:33 pm #

My very best Christmas gift ever came in 5th grade — beautiful white figure skates with rubber blade guards. And some of my fondest memories are of Dad scrapping off a skating rink on the frozen lake in front of our house. We’d wait and wait till we heard on the news that the lakes were frozen thick enough for skating (Michigan) and then I knew that weekend he’d clear our rink. What great memories.

  681. Elizabeth Johnson December 2, 2011 at 6:34 pm #

My favorite gift is still my American Girl doll. I got her when I was 11. I’m 28 now and I still treasure her! Now I have my own daughter and it will be so much fun to pass her down….if I can let her go that is…lol

  682. julianna richman December 2, 2011 at 6:34 pm #

  683. Estela Morgan December 2, 2011 at 6:36 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift I remember recieving as a child was my toy sewing machine. I would sit and pretend to sew for hours. I would make everyones clothes and hand sew barbie clothes out of socks. My mom didnt like that too much because she had to constantly buy me new socks. :)

  684. Leigh December 2, 2011 at 6:38 pm #

Oh my goodness, soooo hard to choose my favorite childhood Christmas gift . . . but I must pick my Raggedy Ann doll – which will be passed on to my daughter when she is born in April!

It’s really simple and kind of silly…Every Christmas since I don’t remember when my Aunt buys my brother and I new pjs that we get to open on Christmas Eve and wear that night. I’m 25 and I STILL enjoy getting those PJs each year. Who doesn’t love new jammies? I have since started the tradition with my daughter and hope she loves it just the same :)

My favorite Christmas so far was last year when I was due with our first child :) He is a beautiful gift born 3 days after Christmas last year :)

  687. tracy scorse December 2, 2011 at 6:49 pm #

    Mrs. Beesley!!

  688. Chelsea December 2, 2011 at 6:52 pm #

I’ll tell you my son’s favorite Christmas gift. Last year he asked Santa for a baby brother. Six months later (on his birthday) he got his baby brother. He calls his brother his “best present ever”!

  689. Laura December 2, 2011 at 6:54 pm #

A telescope. Definitely not the typical gift for a little girl, but it brought the wonders of God’s creation into focus in a new way–plus, it helped me spy on my neighbors! :)

  690. Britney December 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm #

One Christmas my parents got my brother and I a black Labrador puppy…the best part was that we had to go on a scavenger hunt to find her, reading clues along the way!

  691. Emily December 2, 2011 at 7:01 pm #

Wow! What an awesome giveaway! The best Christmas present I ever received actually came exactly one week after our first Christmas as a married couple. We found out we were pregnant with our first baby (now we have #3 baking) ;) When I calculated our due date it said possible conception was December 24, Christmas Eve (tmi? maybe) but what a wonderful present!!

    • Emily December 2, 2011 at 7:20 pm #

Haha, just realized it said favorite gifts as a child…oops :) I’d go with my American Girl doll, Molly, when I was 10.

  692. Joanna Kay December 2, 2011 at 7:03 pm #

My very favorite gift received as a child was the American Girl doll “Samantha”. My parents staged it well because I opened up the books first and thought for sure that I was ONLY getting the books, so when I opened the doll I was completely surprised and shocked. I still remember how excited I was opening that sweet present. I loved her and still have her to pass on to my girls someday!

  693. Abby December 2, 2011 at 7:06 pm #

I’m 27 and I can remember my favorite gift of all time was 12 years ago!!! I was 5 and my parents bought me a cabbage patch doll with red long yarn hair! She was a cowgirl and came with a special horse!!! What girl wouldn’t want a doll with a horse!?!? Oh and yes… she had a FRINGE VEST!

  694. Carolyn December 2, 2011 at 7:08 pm #

Barbie Dream House of course! I was so excited the mailbox had teeny tiny mail in it! Happy holidays!

  695. Katie December 2, 2011 at 7:09 pm #

My favorite gift was a toy record player. I’d play the Christmas record over and over! I’m still singing those songs today! :)

    Merry Christmas!!

  696. Jenni Phenicie December 2, 2011 at 7:12 pm #

Thanks for the fun giveaway! I love the Land of Nod!! I think my favorite gift was a play kitchen. I remember being so excited about it and playing with it all the time. There is nothing like the joy of Christmas season!

  697. Sharon H. December 2, 2011 at 7:14 pm #

The best gift was a cabbage patch kid that I got when I was 6 :)

  698. La Donna December 2, 2011 at 7:22 pm #

My favorite gift as a child was a three wheeler bike with E.T. on the front. What’s so ironic about that gift is I was completely, horrifically, enormously, out.of.my.mind scared of E.T. But because I became the coolest kid on the block with that bike, my fears seemed to flee. :)

  699. Kelly December 2, 2011 at 7:24 pm #

My most memorable gift was a little sock doll my mom made me. I still have it to this day, and love thinking about the love that went into making it for me!! And, Audrey will love the cookie set!! My 2 year old has it, too, and LOVES playing with it almost daily!! This year I am getting her the pizza set!!

  700. Megan December 2, 2011 at 7:28 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift as a child was my Cabbage Patch doll. I named her Cassandra….along with every other doll I owned:)

  701. Ashley December 2, 2011 at 7:29 pm #

Best gift ever was the light bright I got when I was 9. We had just moved to Washington from California and I was majorly homesick and mom and dad were broke. But they got the one thing I thought I couldnt live with out. Christmas was awesome and our family from Cali came to Wa. and surprised us!

  702. Tricia December 2, 2011 at 7:38 pm #

My very best Christmas present was a milkshake maker as it is the only toy my dad ever bought me! My mom always did the shopping and when my parents divorced he always just wrote us a check….. Sad but true and probably why it makes it so special.

  703. Jaelyn December 2, 2011 at 7:39 pm #

The best Christmas gift I ever received was my dog Rusty. He’s long passed away, but he was a best friend to me throughout most of my childhood. I look forward to the day I get to give my kids a puppy for Christmas!!

  704. Jennifer December 2, 2011 at 7:45 pm #

The best Christmas gift I received as a child was the year I got my Cabbage Patch Kid. In addition to the coveted doll my mom handmade a basket full of clothes for her and my dad made a beautiful wooden cradle.

  705. Kimberlee December 2, 2011 at 7:46 pm #

My teddy bear when I was 3. Still have him.

  706. Tina December 2, 2011 at 7:47 pm #

This is going to tell my age, but when I was in grade school the Chrissy doll came out. It was white with bright red hair and about 18″ tall. I didn’t like it much, but then they came out with one that was brown with black hair and I loved it! My parents got it for me for and I was sooo excited. I’m white and am now married to a man from India (love that brown skin)!

  707. Jen December 2, 2011 at 7:48 pm #

I loved opening up the envelope that told the gender of our last baby – a boy! on Christmas Eve. It was a gift our family will remember, for sure.

  708. Terry December 2, 2011 at 7:52 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was a beautiful doll dressed in a wedding gown when I was 3 years old.

  709. Katie December 2, 2011 at 7:53 pm #

I think mine would have to be an American Girl doll. I still have her, crossing fingers for a little girl to pass her down to!

  710. jody December 2, 2011 at 8:04 pm #

My favorite gift of all time came one year when i was 6. I really wanted the “Sounds like home ” dollhouse but my parents couldnt afford it. For weeks my dad worked to build me my own “looks like home” dollhouse, an exact replica of my childhood home. It was an amazing surprise that christmas, and one my daughter now plays with.

  711. Terry December 2, 2011 at 8:05 pm #

My best Christmas gift ever was a second-hand manual typewriter. I was in 5th grade, and we were moving to another city right after Christmas. I used that typewriter to write letters to my friends and family (on onion skin paper to save postage). I used it to type term papers in high school and college. (This was before computers! I am 57). I still have that beautiful old Royal typewriter and it has a place of honor on the office desk. :)

  712. Sarah Fink December 2, 2011 at 8:14 pm #

My sister and I received the Heart Family (I think they were supposed to be Christian barbies!) one year. We spent HOURS playing with them in the doll house our dad made us. Sweet memories…

  713. erica December 2, 2011 at 8:16 pm #

My American Girl Doll, Samantha, was a favorite present! I think I was just as excited for my little sister when she got hers years later.

  714. Shalet December 2, 2011 at 8:27 pm #

A new camera…..there began my love for photography!

  715. dani December 2, 2011 at 8:29 pm #

    a very pink huffy bike!!!

  716. Tanya December 2, 2011 at 8:29 pm #

It would have to be a tie between the time when I was about 8 and I got a red-haired Cabbage Patch Kid named Ruth or when I was 12 and got my first pair of Doc Martens that I had been wanting so badly.

  717. Ondrea December 2, 2011 at 8:32 pm #

My mom makes Christmas so special for us each year…I’m almost 35. And now she makes it special for her 5 grandsons. It’s hard to pick a favorite gift, because she always works so hard to get us JUST the right thing that we want that year. She makes me a better person! I like the Land of Nod too:)
    Merry Christmas!Ondrea

  718. Renee Shewbart December 2, 2011 at 8:36 pm #

The very best Christmas was when I was about 10 yrs. old & it was the last time I ever requested a doll for Christmas. We grew up really poor & it seemed Santa never brought us any of the “name brand” toys that we ask for. But that year I got the Baby Tender Love doll that I asked for & I felt like the richest person on earth because of that! A great great memory!

  719. Jo Yoder December 2, 2011 at 8:37 pm #

The first gift that popped into my mind when I read your question, was the Nativity set given to me by my aunt when I was maybe 9 years old. Simple ceramic figurines and a basic stable w/ a music box that tinkles out “Silent Night.” I loved it. Still do. This year I put it in my 3-year-old girlie’s bedroom, and she has fallen in love—last night, she took the little Baby Jesus in the manger to bed with her! :)

Well, it was actually a birthday gift but my birthday is 4 days before Christmas. I was gifted a beautiful, handmade Christmas stocking that I still have to this day. I wish I could track down the woman that made it for me (she was a co-worker of my mom’s) and have her make matching ones for my children. It was and IS so special to me. Merry Christmas!

  728. Molly Ebbers December 2, 2011 at 9:09 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift was Smurf slippers ;) ! Gotta love the 80’s!

  730. Mary December 2, 2011 at 9:10 pm #

The best gift I ever got was my first (and only!) American girl doll. It was pretty much all my parents could afford to give me, but I barely noticed. :)

My very favorite and most precious Christmas present was from Christmas of 2009. My boyfriend (now Husband) and I had been on a 50 day break seeking God’s will for our relationship. It was very hard and painful and I was so unsure of what the outcome would be. This all took place over Christmas and we weren’t able to be together which was very sad for me. However on January 20th, he came over to my house and with many tears in his eyes told me how much he loved me and that he didn’t want to live life without me. It was all so precious and two days later we celebrated our own “Christmas” together. He gave me many wonderful and expensive presents; however, my favorite was a book of letters he had written for me which consisted of 50 letters for every day that we had been apart. It meant so much to me that he had taken the time to write to me every day until we saw eachother again. I am so in LOVE :) Now we are married and have a little baby girl :)

  733. Joy December 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm #

My very best Christmas gift was a blue bicycle…my sister got a matching one, too and we rode together everywhere!

  734. Danielle O. December 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm #

Land of Nod is one of our fave places. Have loved it throughout the years, from newborn to big kid.

    • Danielle O. December 2, 2011 at 9:28 pm #

Whoops, hit enter by mistake. I was going to say the greatest gift I ever received as a child was my very first cabbage patch doll {Amy}. I remember that Christmas like it was yesterday, but honestly I don’t remember how old I was. Never was there another Christmas where I wanted one specific thing so badly. Those were the days.

  735. Mrs Skvortsov December 2, 2011 at 9:35 pm #

my favorite gift as a child was this enormous life size baby doll. I thought I was the richest person in the world. It was given to me by a friend of the family. I cherished it dearly.

  736. Nicole December 2, 2011 at 9:44 pm #

I remember getting a cabbage patch kid doll. Being a child of the 80s, those were babies wanted by all little girls. I didn’t like the official name my doll came with. So my dad set up a courthouse and we officially changed the name, complete w new certificate. Lol

  737. Hannah Vaughn December 2, 2011 at 9:45 pm #

My favorite Christmas present came just a few years ago. My dad was very sick and I couldn’t help but worry that might be the last Christmas he was here. He surprised me by having one of my favorite snapshots blown up and framed, he picked out everything himself and was so proud. He’s much healthier now and that picture has traveled with me from Illinois to Washington D.C. and now Kentucky.

  738. Maegan Echols December 2, 2011 at 9:46 pm #

My favorite, and most memorable, christmas present I got as a child was a Teddy Ruxpin. I just remember hugging that thing on Christmas Day, thinking I was the luckiest kid ever!

  739. Jodie December 2, 2011 at 9:55 pm #

One of my most favorites was when my sister and I got brand new ski’s, poles, boots, the whole caboodle! We were pretty young and this was big time! My parents, who were by no means rich, extended the gift by making a scavenger hunt throughout the whole house before we finally found them in the closet under the stairs. I remember the giddy joy my older sis and I had running around trying to solve the mystery. The hunt was the most special part of the whole thing!
Thanks for this opportunity Emily! :)

  740. Allison Hinds December 2, 2011 at 9:55 pm #

My best gift was a camera. I endlessly took pictures (which of course back then I had to pay to develop the film). I loved capturing the everyday world around me.

  741. Andrea December 2, 2011 at 9:58 pm #

My favorite had to be a white (with pink hair, of course) My Little Pony. Loved her!

The best Christmas gift ever was an American Girl doll I had wanted for a very long time!! =) It was a wonderful Christmas! I am expecting my 1st December 31, I cant wait to make this baby’s Christmases as wonderful as mine were.

  743. Tanya Hulbert December 2, 2011 at 10:03 pm #

What a fun opportunity to recall some of our most wonderful childhood memories! My parents would always tell us to go into our rooms and they would bring in our presents all at once. One of my fondest gifts was the year I received Strawberry Shortcake and her bakery! My little girl is now almost seven and she plays with my sweet little Strawberry Shortcake dolls and accessories! It’s adorable!

  744. Wendy @ The Shabby Nest December 2, 2011 at 10:06 pm #

My very favorite childhood Christmas gift was a baby doll that I had seen in a catalog while visiting my Grandma one day. I showed it to my parents and made sure they knew that I *had* to ask Santa for it. I hoped and hoped that Santa wouldn’t forget. And Lo and Behold on Christmas morning, there was that baby doll under the tree. I couldn’t have been happier!

  745. Kathryn December 2, 2011 at 10:09 pm #

My favorite Christmas gift from when I was a child was the (original) Grease soundtrack (record) – awesome! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity – my two girls are just at the age now where they like to play games (5 and 3). Merry Christmas :)

The best christmas present I got as a child was a years worth of piano lessons, and box of my great-grandmothers sheet music.

  747. Laura F. December 2, 2011 at 10:18 pm #

My favorite gift was a doll my mom made for me. The year I really wanted a Cabbage Patch kid, she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to find one, so she made me a doll instead. I am so grateful she did.

  748. Stacy December 2, 2011 at 10:22 pm #

My favorite Christmas was when I got a new doll, a high chair for her and an ironing board! I felt like such a mom! That’s all I ever wanted to do! Now I am a mom of 4 wonderful boys. Christmas is so much fun blessing them with gifts that help make them who they are going to be.

I have lots of things I remember getting and loving! But I adored the “Annie” mansion/doll house I got the year I was OBSESSED with little orphan Annie!!

  754. Sandra December 2, 2011 at 10:36 pm #

My favorite gift as a child was a stuffed monkey I received when I was around 3. It was the type who had a banana for a thumb and had white sneakers. He had red suspenders. I loved him and named him Chongo (monkey in Spanish). I carried him everywhere and my grandmother had to sew his arms back on on several occasions. Because of him I had a love of monekys growing up. I still have him tucked away in some boxes. His fur is worn and he is rippe dhere and there but he was my best gift.

  755. Megan M December 2, 2011 at 10:36 pm #

The Little Orphan Annie-Daddy Warbucks mansion dollhouse. Ohhhhh, I loved that house, it was the best. We were in Hawaii for Christmas and my parents shipped in there and back. Crazy…. but I was crazy in love with it!

  756. Wendy Del Vaglio December 2, 2011 at 10:45 pm #

When I was young, my absolute favorite color was red. My mother found a small, very sweetly illustrated children’s book titled “Ann likes red” by Dorothy Z. Seymour. Since my middle name is Ann, my mother wrote Wendy in front of each Ann on every page so the book became “Wendy Ann likes red”. She even signed the book, “with love, from Santa Claus”. In the thirty plus years since I received and first read that book, I have lost that precious gift. I had told a very sweet friend of mine the story right before Christmas two years ago, and completely forgot I had even told her. I woke Christmas morning, went outside with the kids to see if the reindeer ate the oats off of the front lawn, and there it was, sitting on my welcome mat. A new “WENDY Ann Likes Red”, autographed by Santa :) It’s a toss up as to which one is more precious to me. I will always treasure the memory of the book my mother gave me, and will forever adore the new one and the friend that did that very special thing for me.

    • EarlyGirl December 3, 2011 at 4:33 pm #

My mom just called and read your comment to me… I had totally forgotten about that book, and had no idea it meant that much to you. I was crying by the time she finished reading. You are a WONDERFUL blessing in my life, and you make my heart happy. God has placed us in each other’s lives for a reason (and it’s more than just crafting!). Love you!

  757. Molly December 2, 2011 at 10:52 pm #

My sister (who is now 32 and has children of her own) still has our marble run set made by Discovery Toys. We loved it!!

  758. Shari H. December 2, 2011 at 10:54 pm #

One of my favorite gifts was a Breezin’ jacket back in the 80’s when they were so popular. They were all sold out and pretty hard to find, but my mom found one for each of us, how could I ever have doubted the magic she always created for us?!

  759. nan December 2, 2011 at 10:55 pm #

One year I got a pretty bike, I was thrilled! My dad let me ride it all around the house on Christmas day. It was great to be a kid!

  760. Catherine R. December 2, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

I would have to say was my dad got me a Razor, those scooters that were so popular in the early 00’s. And he engraved my name on the bottom, and I had blue light up wheels! Ah I loved that thing like no tomorrow!

  761. Tricia December 2, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

The very first Harry Potter book, when it was first published. My dad “heard about it on the radio and thought it might be interesting.” Little did he know, I would still be reading all the books over and over more than a decade later!

  762. Melissa R December 2, 2011 at 10:57 pm #

I can still rembrandt getting the doll that ate and then pooped or peed. Because my mother told me there was NO WAY she was getting me that and that I would have to ask Santa. Good old Santa pulled through.

Rollerskates were my favourite Christmas morning memory. I’d love the Gift Certificate!! Great giveaway!

My favorite christmas gift was definitely my little Casio piano keyboard. That thing took a beating and proved to be the beginnings of my love for music. I dreamed of the day I would own a real piano… just months ago, a dear family who was downsizing gifted us theirs and now my little man is learning on a BIG keyboard. So grateful!

I remember getting one of those snow inner tubes you could use for sledding instead of a sled. My brother and I got matching ones and I remember complaining about how I would never use it but boy was I wrong. I can still remember memories years later of my brother and I going sledding with them and having a blast!

Best present I ever got…not just because of the fun but because I had an excuse to hang out with my younger sibling when hanging out with some one younger wasnt “cool”!!

My favorite memory of a gift as a child was a bike chain/lock because it was hidden and we had to hunt for it. It was wrapped around the trunk of the tree, we thought it was the best.

  768. KC December 2, 2011 at 11:55 pm #

My fave gift was the year {1987} my parents bought my brother and I matching snow suits with matching orange sleds. Mom had it all set up in the den. She stuffed the snow suits so that it would like like two people sledding down a hill. Not only did we have new snow clothes, but it meant we {AZ folk} were taking a vacation to the snow! It was perfect.

My favorite Christmas present as a child was a teeter totter that my dad welded for us in our backyard while we slept.

Another year we woke up to a front yard full of snow because my dad drove an hour to the snow and loaded his truck up and brought it home.

It’s not the money, it’s the memories:)

Barbie’s glorious pink convertible with a perfect new Barbie and Ken dressed in beach-ready clothes and sitting in the front seats….my 7 year old heart almost couldn’t take it! Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.

  773. heidi December 3, 2011 at 12:21 am #

There was a BIG box under the tree on Christmas morning addressed to me and my sister. Well it was big to us then! Probably 2 ft by 3 ft, big by little girl standards. It was chuck full of Barbie items of every kind, clothes, a green convertible, Skipper, Ken, you name it! Looking back my mom probably didn’t want to wrap each item separately, but to us we thought it was cool to get such a big package and to have so much jam packed into it! I still have some of those items and have passed them on to my daughters. Unfortunately the car is no longer.

Growing up, my mom always saved the best present for each of us and left it unwrapped & out of the box on the fireplace hearth. (We were supposed to think Santa had just left them there for us.) One year I got a Sega Game Gear, which was really amazing b/c we never really had anything all that technologically advanced at our house. :)

My favorite Christmas gift was the desk Santa left me when I was probably 8 years old (yes, I’m a nerd!). It was a nice oak desk, and it served me well all the way through high school and college. I remember using it for homework, art projects, and playing store with my sister and friends.

A Kindle! I was a little bit older in age but still a kid at heart when I received it. Still makes me smile every day that I use it.

Ok so my favorite Christmas gift was this 3foot doll, I had wanted one so bad for so long. When Christmas came along we usually weren’t given much, and this Christmas it was even less than usual, or so I thought. My mom and dad gave me a few small gifts I don’t even remember what they were, only that I was trying to act pleased and thankful. After everyone had opened there gifts, my parents did that “oh yeah there’s one more that we almost forgot” and yes, you guessed it out they came with the most beautiful 3 foot doll I had ever seen. I thought my world could not get better ;-)

My favorite Christmas present was a set of Strawberry Shortcake dolls that I received when I was 4 years old…I wish I had kept them for my daughter especially now that they are popular again and have changed so much in the way they look.

When I was 4 I lived in Ohio and my dad was living in Texas. He couldn’t come home at Christmas, so one of his brothers dressed up as Santa and came to my Grandma’s Christmas with gifts for my sister and I from our dad. He said he had already been to Texas and that our Dad asked if Santa could drop them off. It was a cowgirl Cabbage Patch Kid. I think I liked the delivery more than the gift! :)

My hero grandfather made me a dollhouse one Christmas. Not only was it Victorian awesomeness, but he made it and I loved it that much more.

One thing I really remember (and I actually bought for my kids this year) was ordering them pencils with their names printed on them. I hoarded mine for years to make them last. : )

My favorite Christmas gift as a child was a Cabbage Patch doll that I received when I was five. I LOVED it and played with it for years!

The most memorable Christmas gift I received as a child was a camel stuffed animal sent from my dad who at the time was deployed on an aircraft carrier to the Red Sea (during the first Desert Storm). I was probably around 7 or 8 years old. It’s funny how I really don’t remember a lot of the gifts I received as a child, but this one especially sticks out to me. I guess we often remember moments in our lives better than actual things :)

I’ve love the LON website. Sounds like I’ll need to request a paper catalog as well!

As a young girl I desperately wanted an American Girl Doll (they were called Pleasant Company back then). My parents couldn’t afford to get me one, let alone all of the accessories. My mom overcame the financial obstical with her boundless creativity by buying a less expensive doll somewhere else but presenting the doll to me on Christmas with a whole trunk full of beautiful outfits she had sewn for her. A winter coat & hat with faux wool trim, a Christmas dress that matched my own (which of course mom had made as well), nightgown, etc, etc
It was a little girl’s dream come true! As I look back I realize the real gift was a creative mom.

my first ten speed bike was so exciting to come down the stairs and see!! It was purple :-) I love Land of Nod!

I have always been called Kitty by my family and friends and my best Christmas gift was my first two wheeler bike that said “miss kitty” on the side. It was pink, purple, and blue, and it had streamers on the handle bars. I loved this bike and because it was too cold and snowy outside my parents let me ride up and down the main hallway of our house that day. (I could only go about 10 feet, then dad had to pick the bike up turn it around and I rode back the 10 feet lol).

It’s hard to think back now and decide what my favorite childhood Christmas gift was. But there was a gift I received that I still have, and have now passed on to my baby. It is a wooden pull-along duck with round wheels for legs, and it has a separate wooden egg that goes on its back. As the duck is pulled along the egg spins around. My son loves it now.

I have loved Land of Nod for quite awhile myself and thoroughly enjoy all of the whimsical details they put into their designs! My kids have a couple of presents from there for Christmas already, but I could very easily spend $75 more . :)

My favorite Christmas present was my dollhouse. I had so much fun decorating the walls and moving the furniture around. There were so many hours of enjoyment with that little house. I can’t wait to give one to my daughter!

My favorite present ever was a clock radio when I was about 11. I liked being able to listen to my own music in my room.

When I was about 12 years old I got my first sewing machine! It was so old but I loved it! I made many square things; pillows, bean bags, more pillows.

Mine would be a set of cabbage patch dolls and the matching horses. I still have them and hope my baby girl will love them when she grows up and plays with them.

The story goes that when I was about 2 or 3, I opened a frilly pink nightgown from my aunt and said, “Oooooh, a Fairy thing!”. I still feel that way about pretty frocks.

My mom and grandma worked together to sew/ embroider dolls for my sister and I when I was around 8 years old. I loved her, and still have her today. Thirty years later. Lots of love went into those dolls.

The best Christmas present I got was a pair of roller skates when I was in 5th grade. There was a big box that was incredibly light. When I opened it, it was actually a card saying I would get to go pick them out with my Grandmother. I just remember the element of the surprise being so wonderful. I still have the card with my grandmother’s drawing of roller skates.

Dolls! I always loved getting my baby dolls for Christmas.

  807. Cherie December 3, 2011 at 8:34 am #

When I was 8, my sister, cousins & I all got American Girl dolls from our grandma for Christmas. We wanted them so badly and each had one (of the original 4) picked out. When I opened doll outfits and a Samantha book set at home Christmas morning, I knew it meant the dolls were waiting for us at Grandma’s! I remember shrieking for joy.

2 gifts that are memorable….a keyboard, as in electric piano keyboard, not a computer keyboard! And a basketball goal.

I have many wonderful Christmas memories, but my favorite gift would be the antique vanity/dressing table my parents bought and restyled for me…..I remember feeling VERY “grown-up” sitting at the table!

My favorite Christmas gift was a karaoke machine…I loved to sing!

My favorite present was a huge barbie house handmade by my mom’s best friend’s husband. I don’t have it anymore since I ended up just having boys (who really don’t like dolls). I gave it back to my mom’s best friend. They have two granddaughters. I see them a lot. It is good to know that someone else will get to enjoy it as much as I did.
