orange

I’m feeling the need to add some orange into our lives. Not sure why. It’s just my color crush of the day.

See what I mean? Orange is just so fresh and unexpected. But only a little bit. I am such a neutral girl and so fickle {today I love orange, tomorrow I will probably tire of it} so I know myself well enough to not use color in permanent ways. But a few accessories here and there {both for me and the home} is perfect.

I’m loving orange, poppy and coral lately. I keep trying to add it in the house in little ways.

    I LOVE orange, too!
My home is very colorful, but orange is a particular favorite right now.
I bought orange hunter boots, I have an orange kelly moore bag, and am drinking my coffee from a vintage federal glass mug that is orange!
Also loving turquoise and white right now.

I am crushing on yellow right now but I painted our front door orange a few months ago. I love it!! The house wanted orange, not yellow, so that is what I went with. Inside the entry way I painted a faux bamboo mirror yellow though and I love that too! I also have an abiding love for that swedish blue – grey colour. Or duck egg blue. Or turquoise. Or aqua. I think that is it for colour crushes….

Someone told me this past spring that “Orange is the new black!” Well, I don’t know because I love using black (especially distressed) as an accent and I wouldn’t replace that with orange, but I sure do love the bright and happy pop orange gives everything! My color crush right now is olive green. I know, odd color, but I love it with warm browns and golds, black, and yes, orange!

I have been crushing on orange for a year or so now. I bought a dress coat last January that is bright orange and I get so many compliments on it. It is so cheerful!

Orange is my son’s favorite color so we have some here and there. :-) I’m more of a neutral decorator so it is easy to change out pops of color seasonally or on a whim.

Lately my crush has been yellow. Yellow scarf at Old Navy stole my heart, but I didn’t buy it…might go back though and yellow floral print wall paper to use as drawer liner for our dresser are a few examples. I think it might be because of the weather being so cold and not seeing the sun for quite a while now. Our home is painted in neutrals, but its a 1927 house, so the spaces are small; therefore, the neutrals feel gloomy during the fall, winter, and sometimes spring too. I’m dieing for some color. We started picking paint colors for different rooms, but I’m worried we’re over compensating and we’ll end up being the “skittle house.” But, yah…current crush is yellow.

I do have color crushes right now! For my self and my home, Im into creams (which is crazy because my fav color is black and everything in my youth was anti cream). But Im loving it.
And I have have been making baby items for my shop in dusty pinks and grays.

My youngest son wanted to paint his room orange when he was in Middle School. At first I thought he was crazy! However, we compromised on one wall and the “entry wall”. Technically he had 5 walls in his room. It was quite a chore because with bright colors you need a primer. We painted the other walls tan and the trim bright white. Dark brown bamboo Roman shade and navy, white and orange bedding. It looked great. He ended up going to college at Oregon State University. (We live in CA) Orange must have been his destiny. I love the orange dress above and the bedroom looks inviting. Orange hues of flowers are my absolute favorite.

Definitely a neutral gal here but am loving pops of yellow and bits of black these days. I did make a recent orange clothing purchase – love it!

I smiled when I read this post…I keep losing my black purse around the house and I teased my college daughters I was going to find a bright orange handbag so I could find it! Now every time I’m in a store I am drawn to orange handbags…not really my color except when we are cheering on the Netherland’s soccer team.

I love orange! I too, decorate with soooo many neutrals it’s crazy! But, took a huge risk and painted our baby girls dresser a lovely orange color. I literally had an anxiety attack over it and it took me months to finally do it. I’m telling you though….orange is soooo lovely and it goes so well with neutral homes. When my husband went to pick up an European wooden high chair for our baby on craigslist ( which I knew I should have gone with him!) he brought it home, thinking it was a tan color…it’s ORANGE! I almost died. However, it really adds a nice little punch to our home. I’m falling in love with this color. Just a few pieces or small things is all you need….it goes a long ways.

I’ll have to jump on the color crush train with you, except I think my husband would surely say I have a deeper love for orange than just a crush. You see, I am a “Tennessee VOL” and my heart speeds up at the thought of orange! I spontaneously painted 2 walls in our home one day while he was at work. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! =)
