I always have loved oreos
I was reading a story to No. 2 & No. 3 last night when I noticed the stark difference in the color of our legs. I just had to document.

I know I’m completely vain for thinking this, but I love that my children inherited their daddy’s skin and not mine.

Andrea
what a cute picture. There are several things my kids inherited from their daddy that make me smile often!
Sarah
Cute picture! My siblings got my dad’s Croatian tan, but I of course got my mother’s white and freckled Scottish complexion.
When my daughter was born, I really thought she had her daddy’s darker skin and ability to tan, but then the jaundice wore off, and I realized she was just as pasty as her mama. Poor baby. But she got his straight hair instead of my crazy curls, so her life will be much easier.

My kids were also blessed with their Daddy’s nice complexion – we go on vacation and they all come home so nicely sun kissed while I look as though I didn’t even go with them!

that pic could be me and my two little ones….my little brown indians! so glad mine got their daddy’s skin too

Cute photo! I often think about and hope for the things that our future children will inherit from their dad rather then me.. It makes me smile to think of the possibilities.
Lillian
No. 1 & No. 2 were blessed with my olive skin and light eyes (gorgeous!) and No. 3 is blessed with my Irish genes, fair-skinned and blonde hair!

That looks like me and my two sisters..
I have such fair skin; I go from a burn to a slight tan, and they just go straight to brown.
But I guess that’s good for me because it has helped me keep my security in Christ and not my skin color!
haha
Btw, love the title! Took my a little bit to figure what this post had to do with oreos

Emily, My husband is part Polynesain and my girls are olive complection and tan all the time! I’m German descent and I just tell everyone “I don’t tan I just get dark white”!!! Enjoy your blog.

It’s taken me forever to become confident in my fair skin. We both should have been born back when it was the royals who had the fair complexions

Love love love that picture! I am also a redhead with fair skin (but lots of teeny tiny tans, aka. freckles) and my kids both got their father’s dark skin. I guess with all my freckles we’d look like an oreo with a cookies and cream filling!

I totally understand. Even though we don’t have kids when we do decide to start a family I so hope that they get my husbands skin. My skin is prone to acne (stil at 33), sensitive to everything (i.e. laundry soap, lotion, body soap), and burns, burns, burns.
laura
we always want what we don’t have!!!! I’m almost due with no. 1 and my hubby is a fair-skinned red-head….he always says “i hope he has your skin” {i can tan fairly easily} but I hope he has my hubby’s skin – because I think it’s beautiful!
Alima
I am definitely vain too then! I even hoped while I was pregnant that my son would have my husbands tan complexion and not my white freckledy skin. He is so tan and I love it! (Except for when he’s sitting with me and I realize how incredibly pale I am

This totally cracked me up! Thanks for the smile.
Kristen
My kids are the same way! I am very glad!

how sad is it that when i saw the e-mail in my inbox “i always have loved oreos” i got so excited about the possibility of a new oreo recipe!?!?! hehe…loved the post though.
Courtney
so cute! My husband is milky white and so is my son. When Eleanor was born we were happy she was a little darker and than this summer she got tan (even with sun block, cover ups, etc…) just like mama
Anita
I love that picture! I got my Daddy’s olive skin and my two sisters got Mom’s pale white! I am the middle child, I guess we are a inside out oreo!
Megan
Love the title!
Lindsay
I totally understand! I am still hoping that my daughter’s skin turns olive like mine!

We all know you would love them either way, so that makes your vanity A-ok.

I don’t think it’s vain at all! I’ve really got my fingers crossed that my (future) kids have their daddy’s complexion as well. With my ridiculously pale I’m always so worried about skin cancer, which my grandfather died from, and I’d love to not have to worry as much about my kiddos. My hubby tans well and doesn’t have nearly the same skin cancer risk – although I’m still a suncreen maniac on his behalf! I pray it’s the same for my babies

Ha! This makes me laugh. I am white as white can be too (oops, should I not have said that? it kinda infers something about you too:) Anyway, earlier this summer we were sitting around the living room with some friends of ours and their little boy leaned over and whispered something to his mom which made her laugh. Later, she said he whispered “See that girl over there in the green shirt? She has really white legs.” Needless to say I was the girl in the green shirt. We all laughed and his mom said “Don’t feel bad, I wasn’t tan until we went to Florida.” Funny thing is… I wouldn’t tan even if I lived in Florida and sun bathed all day every day.
I used to be self concious about it, but a few years ago I decided it wasn’t worth it. Also, I just have to say that I feel a special kinship with other fair skinned gals… it’s nice to have a little affirmation every once in awhile.

i know you’re really white, and the boys are really tan, but geesh, that picture is kind of shocking! every time i see the white in hadley’s little arm rolls, i think how cute it is how tan she is. and then i think of you saying, “my vanity loves that my kids are tan.” i’m with ya.

When I was pregnant with my firstborn I asked my husband if he thought it would be wrong if we prayed that the baby would have his legs.
And I did! My husband has nice shapely legs and mine just plain legs. And I’m happy to report my oldest got my hubby’s legs.
{darlene}
precious! my hubby and i will often look into the mirror, and say plainly, “we don’t match.”
hee hee.
life is better with oreos.

My husband is Irish – dark hair, blue eyes, pale skin – God Bless ‘em ’cause he still loves me even when I refer to him as “fish-belly white.” He’s a good (pale) guy!!

those legs look all too familiar! It takes me forever to get any semblance of colour as well.
Your blog is lovely. I’m glad I stumbled upon it!
