on getting away, messiness and justin bieber
An update and random ramblings from my life these past two weeks via instagram …
1, 2 & 3. A few of us took a girl’s weekend to our friend’s beach house. Time away with just girlfriends, an unobstructed view of that perfect NW beach, trying octopus {weird}, and staying up way too late. It was perfect.
4. While on that restful weekend, I got strep. Again. Three times in three consecutive months.
5. So I bought myself some slippers. Retail therapy helps a little when it feels like you’re swallowing nails.
6. I love stripes. Truly I do.
7. My office threw up on me. Does that ever happen to you?
8 & 9. My sisters and I went to the Justin Bieber concert this week. Don’t judge. It was AMAZING. My ears are still ringing from the out-of-control screaming by the thousands of purple-wearing pre-teen girls. I may have a small crush on him that grew after watching him perform live. I mean, not a real crush seeing as how I’m the age of his mother. But I just love him. My sisters and I didn’t stop smiling the whole show through. Is that creepy? I don’t know. It was fun, though.
And then there’s this:
While headed to the library for storytime, I was stuck on a country road behind a tractor full of pumpkins. I was actually on the phone with my best friend and told her I needed to hang up so I could take a photo. It was just too picturesque to miss.
Country-living at it’s finest.

please start drinking white tea! I had 8 cases of strep throat in a nine month period. My doctor said i really should have my tonsils out….which can be dangerous for adults! I happened to read that white tea was good for preventing cavities and strep……this was six years ago and i havent had strep since. I buy a lipton pomegranite blueberry white tea. Drink it several times a day at first then you can back off drastically! Good luck and let me know!

Press the home button whilst on a call and you can use your phone without putting the phone down (and still talk if it’s on speaker) … The iPhone has so many neat little tricks like that – I’ve had one for years and am still learning!

One of our friend’s daughters posted on FB the day of the concert: “Sorry ____ High School. I am unable to come to school today due to a case of severe Bieber fever”. Thought it was so funny!

I just love your blog! The stories about your sweet son, remind me so much of my oldest (who still calls me mama most of the time and i shutter to think of when it will turn to mom). I love yellow. Your faith and sharing it. .. and now that you went to a Bieber concert.. well, we should be friends. haha!

I never comment (but read often) but I just have to tell you my story…last year my older two children were constantly getting strep (on and off antibiotics). Finally one afternoon while I had my oldest daughter in the pediatrician’s office she looked to my (then 2 year old) son (who had shown NO symptoms of strep over the course of these few months) and said she was going to test him. I was dumbfounded as to why she would but as it turns out HE was the culprit as he was a carrier of the infection! Who knew!?! Anyways, like I said I just had to pass that on. My hubby and I got strep last year and it was horrible so I can’t imagine having it 3 times in consecutive months! It might be worth looking into having the rest of your family tested.
Also, my daughter and I are headed to see Justin Bieber in January and I CAN’T WAIT!!!

This past weekend myself and 7 friends from High School had a weekend in Brisbane an caught up on the last 24 years or so, drank champagne, had Pedi’s and Mani’s and really enjoyed ourselves!
My office threw up on itself, to the point that I am having a cabinet maker install new cabinets, desks, shelves and cupboards to stem the chaos!
I LOVE stripes and got the most beautiful stripes fabric recently to make cushions for my new office!
I just got new slippers! – Mine are not as pretty as yours, but they do the trick!
Last year I took my 11 year old daughter to a Justin Bieber Concert in Adelaide – and I am now a fan. Aside from the screaming Tween-Agers (said daughter being one of them) it was a really enjoyable concert – especially his acoustic renditions!
I don’t have strep though – haven’t had it since I had my tonsils removed when I was 17, but I feel your pain – poor thing, hope your feeling much better soon!
