q & a a day

I bought myself a new book last week.  It is for sure a new favorite.

    Q & A a day

The book is called Q & A a day and has a year’s worth of questions to answer for five consecutive years. I love the concept. As my real life friends will tell you, there is almost nothing I enjoy more than asking random-make-you-squirm-a-little questions. This book is so up my alley.

Plus, just look at the inside cover:

    Beautiful. Graphic. Gray.

I thought I’d share with you a few of the pages to get your mind spinning on some good questions to ask yourself or to start a conversation with a friend.  And just for fun, I will share my current answer.

    Here it goes:

I am a crier, so this one isn’t too hard for me to recall. I teared up when the kids said the Pledge of Allegiance at the boys’ school yesterday.  It wasn’t a full-on cry, but I’ll admit to a tear dropping. Don’t laugh at me : I was having a moment of gratitude for our country and of nostalgia for good old-fashioned tradition.

I have no patience for whining. Especially when it is performed expertly by a soon-to-turn-four year-old little boy. He is a pro. This mama is not buying it.

I just ordered one of these from Allora Handmade and am pretty sure it will be my new favorite.

The last movie I saw in the theater was The Help. Loved it. Loved the book more, but the movie was great too.

The next movie I hope to see in the theater is Dolphin Tale. Seriously.

I made dinner for my super cute cousin and her super cute boyfriend last night. We ate this. Yum.

This one could be it.  It’s one of my all-time favorites.

And here is the question for today. Yikes : it’s a personal one.

Considering I’ve grown four babies in this body, I’m pretty amazed that 1. I can still walk and 2. I have only a layer of flabby skin to show for it {ugh : it’s the worst}.

Considering that we have a trip to Hawaii in the early planning stages for next spring, I’d say I better get to work on said flabby skin!

    That was fun.

Hope you like the book. You can get a copy here. It would make a terrific Christmas gift.

While I was taking photos for this post, this is what was going on around me.

Many times I am asked how I do what I do with four kids and here is one way. I take photos on the kitchen table while they are all coloring.  Believe me, it was a rare occurrence, but a happy moment I wanted to document.

    1. I was in Papersource this last week and now they have this journal type book in a version called “Jane says” and it has Jane Austin quotes on every page. I love that!!

    2. After seeing the Q&A book here. I knew that’s what I wanted for Christmas. I’m not a writer at all but, this is perfect for me. I love it!! I started it New Years day. Thanks for sharing!

    3. YAY! Thank you so much for sharing the Q & A a Day! I just ordered 3 – one for my sis, one for my best friend, and one for me (from my hubby of course:).
This was my first visit to your blog – but won’t be my last!
PS. Hope you blog about how to “firm it all up” before vacation – I’d love to hear what works!

    4. That book looks FUN! I love it! Adding it to my Christmas wish list…

About Hawaii: I just got back, and let me tell you, doing something about that flabby layer of skin (I’ve birthed five babies, so I’m with ya!) just two weeks before you leave will do SQUAT. Ha ha! So start now. Because in my world, starting “now” actually means that you’ll start much later, which might be just enough time! :) But I proudly wore a bikini nonetheless, because I figure it’s not gonna get much better than this! You know? :)

    5. What a great book! I just ordered a copy for myself. Glad to hear that there is someone else that tears up at The Pledge of Allegiance. I can’t make it through our national athem either. Love the pics of your adorable kids, they look like they are really concentrating on being creative!

    6. I’m so glad you posted about this book. It looks awesome and I totally want to buy a copy for me and a few friends I know! Thanks!

    7. I just have to tell you that although I don’t even know you, but I have a strong sense from your blog, your pictures, your taste, and your sense of style you truly have a beautiful soul! And I’ve seen your pictures–you and your family are just as gorgeous and beautiful to look at, too. I rarely compliment someone I’ve never met, but I felt such a strong positive impression about you when you introduced the Q&A book. Thanks for sharing this book–love it and can’t wait to get it. I’m going to order a couple of these as Christmas gifts, including one for myself. Thanks for your great blog and sharing your beautiful self!

    8. Oh, how I wish my 4 boys and girl would sit and color like that..it is rare! I don’t know what you’re workout routine is, but I’ve been a big fan of Physique 57 dvds and balletbody.com ‘s downloadable weekly videos :) Just thought I’d share.

    9. I just ordered 3 of this book. I have 2 adult daughters and I think this will be so much fun for them. And of course I wanted one for myself. I thoroughly enjoy your blog and your way of looking at life! Keep up the great inspiration!

    10. That book reminds me of the one my daughter made for me as a Christmas gift a few years ago. She was 27 then, and said she wanted to get to know me better. Best compliment & present I’ve ever gotten.
As for Dolphin Tale, you will love it. Take tissues. Seriously.

    11. I love the photo of your kids coloring. My blogging time is typically also nursing time, and depending on how needy my 2 year old is feeling, snuggle time. I sometimes wish people could see how ridiculous I look blogging with two babies on my lap! :)

    12. Adding that to my Christmas List, how cool! Thanks for sharing and also adding that rosette necklace to my list, now to decide which color.

    13. I love this book! Thanks for sharing it with us. I would like to get it and have my sister and I send it back and forth to each other as we alternate filling out questions. She lives in DC and I live in Chicago. So fun! Or I have a group of 5 very close friends. We could do the same thing! Love it!

    14. I got this book from Anthro last year and have been using it since Jan 1 – I have always meant to keep a journal, but could never commit, so this is a fun way to record a daily “something”! It’s traveled all over the world with me too…can’t wait to look back at old entries once it’s full in 5 years!

    15. I have this journal and I absolutely love it. :) I look forward to answering the daily question every evening. Great recommendation.

    16. These make great graduation gifts too. They come in several styles with the same concept but this one gets your thoughts going. Love it.

    17. As usual, great ideas and products, chica! I am ordering 10 of these books as we speak on Amazon. They’re only $11.55! What a great CHRISTmas idea for my mom, sister, MIL, SIL and close girlfriends. And cheap, which is really good right now…

    18. I got this for a sweet friend for her HS graduation gift…she LOVED IT! Just another gift idea to tuck away for graduations :)

    19. I purchased this book while vactioning in the Oregon coast with my daughter this summer. I displayed it on my desk because it was so cute but haven’t used it yet. I never really read all the things inside, I was looking for a book like and old one my mother that is small like that with a date on each page. She writes birthday’s, anniversaries and dates to remember in it – then it is a life long refernce. She would update her calendar with it and I would just love it – so there, you have another use for it!! :)

    20. So far I’ve bought the devotional & the seeds family music based on your recommendation, and both are a welcome part of our daily lives! I loved the IF books and that’s the last time I had a question book. This looks like a winner. Keep your recommendations coming!

    21. I was just telling my sister yesterday that your blog is one of my favorites. I told her that I enjoy it because you share great ideas, but you also share about your faith and your children. I like that it is well-rounded. I worry sometimes about blogs that are strictly crafts. I always wonder what is going on around them while they craft all day. I think you have the perfect balance. This post is the perfect example of that. I love that you captured what was going on around you.
I really like the idea of that book. Thank you for sharing.

    22. Seems like a great book, might just pick it up for myself. Wish my kids would color togheter like yours, mine would be fighting for those crayons in less than 5. As for the October 26 question, girl you look great, so no need to go crazy for your trip.

    23. I saw Dolphin Tale with my 8 year old daughter…I enjoyed the movie but cried a lot so be prepared! I am a person though that cries at church, school and home at random moments.
