a tour of the blog

Just thought I’d take you on a tour of the blog just to point a few things out:

Like subscribing via email. See that button on the top left? When you enter your email address, the blog posts will come straight to your inbox, as well as occasional promotions, discounts and messages sent only to the mailing list. I’d love for you to sign up!

Next down is the newest feature – ways for us to hang out outside of the blog. Like facebook, pinterest, subscribing via rss and sending an email. I will soon add twitter {I just have to acquaint myself with it first}.   I finally confirmed my account with pinterest and will be adding some of my favorite ideas for home, craft, food, fashion and ‘stuff’ as time goes on.  Of course I’d be pleased for you to ‘follow’ along!

Over on the right side are buttons for you to sign up for the giveaway and to take a peek at my shop.

Scroll a little further down and on the left side you’ll see links to my 25 favorite fonts, the paint colors we’ve used throughout our house and my F.A.Q. page.

And on the right are my collection of printable paper goods {pdf files that you can print at home}, as well as our delightful sponsors. Click on each button to visit their websites.

Keep going and you will find a place to search for old blog posts either by entering a keyword {i.e. painted wallpaper} or by selecting a category from the drop down menu {i.e. our house}.

There is also code for you to copy and paste onto your site to add my button. Please take one!

And finally, you’ll see at the bottom of each post a place for you to leave a comment. I love comments and read each one. I’m trying to reply directly in the comments, so if you ask a question, please check back to see my answer.

On the right is a fun button to click : jones design company sponsors are highlighted and often they offer discounts just for j.d.c. readers. Click here to see more.

Hope that little tour explains things and helps you enjoy the blog even more.

You know it’s the simple things like this that make you wonder why more bloggers haven’t thought of this sooner! Great idea for those that might need it or hadn’t noticed some of those features already- Darlene had a good idea too, about putting this somewhere easy for new readers to find…or maybe just at the top of you FAQ page.

Since you mentioned comments, I just wanted to add one little thought on those…do you think there’s a way to get your wordpress settings to allow for comment subscription? That’s one neat thing that I really appreciate as a reader (and commenter), because I won’t be able to remember every comment I leave, or where, or know when to come back to see if there’s a reply. So I’d love to be able to click a checkbox to subscribe to the comments of those posts and get an auto e-mail notification that lets me know if I’ve been replied to or not…it helps further ‘the great blogging conversation’ :)
Your site is awesome all the way around, either way; I just had to throw that in there. Thanks!

I love your blog! I love the colors and layout.
But most especially your posts :)
I’m not into the twitter and facebook thing yet.. I’m scared it will take up more of my time {then I really wont be able to get anything done around the house}! lol :)

Emily, you are going to love Twitter. I just began tweeting, and it is a fun way to send out and receive little nuggets of goodness. Can’t wait to add you to my list!

So excited to see you are on pinterest. Going to follow you as soon as I finish typing this! Twitter is pretty easy. It won’t take you long to get aquainted. My only twitter suggestion is to post something a little different than what you post on fb. Most of the bloggers I follow, post the same exact thing to fb and twitter every single day. So I end up reading it twice which is kinda boring. Just my 2 cents! :)

I love your blog, your tutorials, your emails, and your shop items. As always, every detail seems perfectly planned and beautiful! It’s a delight to read through your posts each and every time.

    As always. Perfect.
You are one talented and gifted gal. Your ‘realness’ and joy spills out all over.
I’m so pleased to see that you’re on FB. How did I miss it?

Question…. Below the comments you have a box to check…”Sign me up to your newsletter.” Details. I need details! :-) (Or did I miss something again?)

great post idea! I wonder if it wouldn’t be helpful to add a sidebar tab so you can click to this post anytime? for newbies!

Emily, you are a delight, as is your blog!! Your aesthetic, whatever you happen to be showing, or referring to at each particular time, is lovely. Your instructions are always clear, and so easy to follow. Love following you, and look so forward to each post and each “path” you might send us down for the day….
