getting to know you

amazing

My answer: amazing dancer {ballet to be exact, although I wouldn’t complain if I could just do the moonwalk. And if I could dance like the contestants on So You Think You Can Dance – I’d be in heaven.}

Now its your turn : are you a the singing type or the dancing type? And if you are awesome at one or the other, don’t be shy about letting us know! Its fun to appreciate each others talents :

I have to join the discussion since I danced for 17 years, but I haven’t danced in 4 years. I enjoy singing, as I grew up in the Church of Christ and learned to sing harmony (alto), and singing brings me joy. But, there’s just something about dancing that really makes my heart soar. Sometimes I dance when I’m by myself – like full-out for real dancing and I feel like myself again. Both dancing and singing are gifts from God that we were created to enjoy – even if we’re not the best at them.

    singing!

  3. krista October 27, 2010 at 1:08 pm #

I think I’d rather be an amazing singer…there seems to be so many more opportunities to sing than dance in public(or private). In the shower,in the car, at church, at school, during American Idol, around the camp fire, with my girls while they play guitar…

  4. hallie October 27, 2010 at 7:58 am #

    Dancer!!!

  5. breanna October 26, 2010 at 6:48 am #

  6. Keri October 25, 2010 at 9:01 pm #

Amazing Singer. My Hubs is super musical and I am totally not! He would be so thrilled if I could even hit a correct note!

  7. Ashlee October 25, 2010 at 8:00 pm #

As much as I wish I could sing like Idina Menzel or Amy Adams and do Broadway my heart will always hope to be a better dancer. I am a ballet & modern dance teacher and love what I do, but I would love to be able to do ballroom especially Argentine Tango!

  8. Susanne October 25, 2010 at 4:40 pm #

    Oh I would love to be a good singer! Love to belt me out some good worship songs…{and pridefully know everyone else appreciates it, too!}

  9. Michele B. October 25, 2010 at 4:20 pm #

So I used to dance and LOVED it, but I think now that I’m older, it would be AWESOME to be an amazing singer, just because I feel like I would have the opportunity to use the talent more often…with the kids, in church, anytime really!

  10. vicki jackson October 25, 2010 at 3:15 pm #

i would rather be an amazing singer :-)

  11. Julia October 25, 2010 at 2:41 pm #

It’s tough.. but singer. I danced in high school and college and have the injuries to last me a lifetime. I wasn’t amazing but I find my dancing skills to be up to par :). But man it will wreck havoc on your body! Plus with an amazing voice- Oh the worship I could sing!!

  12. Lindsey October 25, 2010 at 11:44 am #

I would love to be an amazing belly dancer. I’ve got two years experience belly dancing and was fairly good prior to having my son. Two years after giving birth, I tried my hips at it and ..sheesh..things do not move the same! or certain things i dont want moving, move at their own free will.

  13. Stacy October 25, 2010 at 7:39 am #

I would love to be an excellent dancer! A secret dream of mine!

  14. Xio October 25, 2010 at 7:38 am #

I would love to be a better singer! I’m a good dancer already, so it would be awesome to add singing to the list, and then maybe take over Broadway ; )

  15. becca October 25, 2010 at 7:28 am #

oo i wish i was an amazing singer. I have no music talent but if I did I would love to sing at open mics at local coffee shops, church events, or just loudly in my car.

  16. Kristen October 25, 2010 at 6:50 am #

I would love to be an amazing singer. I work in early childhood and we are constantly singing! Lucky for me the kiddos don’t know how terrible I am. My own son included:-)

  17. amy October 25, 2010 at 6:50 am #

I do like to sing (my husband calls me the “human Jukebox”) so I do have a lot of FUN singing…..MUSIC makes me soooo HAPPY!!!!! But, I would LOVE to be an AMAZING dancer:O) I LOVE to watch people dance that make it look so effortless, it is just sooooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

  18. Ashly October 25, 2010 at 5:25 am #

uhmmmm I’d say SINGER for sure, ya. I secretly want to sing on a huge stage {with no one in the audience but my hubby & my kiddos}- I know kinda nerdy????

  19. Tiffany October 25, 2010 at 5:19 am #

I grew up with a musical family and have been singing since I was little, so I would like to be an amazing dancer!! I’ve always loved to dance but my rhythm is not that great!

  20. Tonia October 25, 2010 at 5:14 am #

Definitely a singer. I am a pretty good singer, sing at lots of local gospel events & even have a CD out. If that could be my career…amazing! And if I could do the hokey pokey, I’d consider myself dancing…lol

  21. Shelley October 25, 2010 at 4:26 am #

Dancer for sure!!! I always kicked myself for giving up ballet when I was younger. I secretly wonder if I would have an amazing body if I wouldn’t have given up on it :) Something kinda funny – I bought a dance/workout DVD to work off baby weight and said to myself, “I’ve got this” thinking it hadn’t been that long since I did pom in H.S. Wow, reality sunk it big time! Turns out 10 years does a lot more damage to ones coordination that I thought!

  22. Emily J October 24, 2010 at 10:58 pm #

I LOVE to dance, but I think I would really love to have some pipes. The kind I imagine I have when I turn up Mariah Carey (the Christmas album is my favorite) really loud in my car and this amazing illusion occurs where I really think I am perfectly in pitch with her as I heartily sing along.

  23. monique October 24, 2010 at 10:22 pm #

I would love to be an amazing dancer. When i was little, my favorite show was “Fame”.

  24. Aimee@ the Functional Space October 24, 2010 at 8:25 pm #

Absolutely a singer! The Husband is a professional musician by trade and I get to be the girl singer in his jazz trio on occasion. We also do a bit of porch singing just for fun for ourselves. It was always my secret dream to get to sing and my sweet Husband has made that happen for me.

  25. Elizabeth D. October 24, 2010 at 6:43 pm #

Definitely a dancer, baby! I wish I could do everything from ballet to hip hop.

  26. gg October 24, 2010 at 6:30 pm #

definitely a singer. my husband is an amazing singer. one of my dreams is to be able to sing with him. not going to happen any time soon with the way i sing.

  27. julie October 24, 2010 at 5:43 pm #

i would say dancing! i took ballet for 13 years and now i am reliving it with my little girl! so sweet and pretty!

  28. Tonya October 24, 2010 at 5:23 pm #

Dance, absolutely! Someday (hopefully soon) I’m going to look into Irish dance classes.

  29. Shelley October 24, 2010 at 4:33 pm #

Definetley a dancer! If I was an amazing dancer I would probably have an amazing body too!! =) That is my vanity coming out…ha!

  30. Dianne October 24, 2010 at 4:24 pm #

I would definitely pick amazing singer. I sing now, but I certainly would love to be better!

  31. Gina October 24, 2010 at 3:39 pm #

Singer, definitely. I love to sing! I was in choir and theatre all through school. I tried dancing…I am not as graceful as I’d like to be!

  32. Bridget October 24, 2010 at 3:30 pm #

I would want to be a better dancer. I’ve always loved to dance. But to be better… well that would be the cherry on top!

  33. Jenna October 24, 2010 at 3:13 pm #

That’s hard! But… I think I’d have to say an amazing singer.

  34. Diane Hudson October 24, 2010 at 1:20 pm #

I am totally tone deaf; but always dreamed of standing on stage at Carnegie Hall and “belting” one out!!

  35. Bonnie October 24, 2010 at 12:43 pm #

Absolutely dancer!! I love to dance, I love moving to music. I’ve never had a lesson and the only dancing I’ve ever done is on a bar dance floor or at a wedding but I would love to have been trained as a dancer. My parents put me in baton twirling instead. ::sigh::

  36. DorisE October 24, 2010 at 12:08 pm #

i didn’t start line dancing until i retired at 65 years. after being a participant, i started leading my
own classes four years ago. lots of fun and great exercise. hang in their girls, it could happen to
    you.

  37. Nuha October 24, 2010 at 11:44 am #

dance!!! I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina, but to be like the people on dancing with the stars wouldn’t be too bad either!

  38. Ms. Bright October 24, 2010 at 11:24 am #

This is tough! I’m a fairly decent singer, but would love to be a better dancer!! I love to do both! Good question!!

  39. Crystal October 24, 2010 at 11:20 am #

Singer, even if I could dance my husband would never go with….. so I would enjoy not just making a joyful noise to the Lord, but actually being able to sound good doing

  40. Caroline October 24, 2010 at 11:08 am #

    Dance, dance, dance!!!!!!

  41. Meg October 24, 2010 at 8:59 am #

I can’t sing, but I can dance. A quote from Dirty Dancing,

“I always have the last dance.”

Things are as they should be for me, cause I love to shake what my mama gave me, cause it took 9 months to make me.

  42. lindsey elizabeth October 24, 2010 at 8:34 am #

sing – although, i would love to be a little more coordinated on the dance floor :)

  43. angela October 24, 2010 at 8:26 am #

singer, all the way! i have been known to cut a rug in my day, and after a decade of dance lessons in my youth, i still have a few good moves. but to be able to belt it out (with the right notes!), now that would be a dream come true. i could totally see myself as the 30-something alicia keys! :)

  44. diane October 24, 2010 at 7:51 am #

If you heard me sing you would know the answer to this one (come to think of it if you saw me dance you would know the answer..hmmmm?) Oh well…I enjoy doing both tomy heart’s content but would choose dancing any day

  45. Deana October 24, 2010 at 7:39 am #

Dancer! A ballet dancer. Graceful, feminine, poise.

  46. Salinabeasley October 24, 2010 at 5:12 am #

I am a singer! It is my first artistic love. I sang thru college. I met my husband singing and we travelled the world together playing music prior to us having children. You can check out our music on my blog. This getting to know you is fun!

  47. Kesha Thomas October 23, 2010 at 9:52 pm #

Singer! My husband is a singer and I long to sing with him! But being a smoking dancer would be so fun too!

  48. claudia October 23, 2010 at 9:12 pm #

    singer!

  49. cali October 23, 2010 at 7:52 pm #

Dancer! I would love to be one of those easy, breezy, dancers with bare feet and a long flowing dress doing back bends and spins to Enya or something. It would be excercise I would actually enjoy!

  50. rachele October 23, 2010 at 7:31 pm #

dancer, I would to dance like the girl on Step Up ( the first one, with Channing Tatum). Thats my “secret” fave movie. Also, if Channing Tatum was dancing with me, that would be ok, too!

  51. Jess@notyouraveragemommy.com October 23, 2010 at 7:25 pm #

Sing! I think I would have way more guts to actually use a singing talent than a dancing talent. :) Plus, I always say that someday I’m going to have a rocking voice in heaven!!!

  52. Mindy October 23, 2010 at 7:24 pm #

dancer…love to dance. it would also help keep me in shape!

  53. lesley October 23, 2010 at 7:15 pm #

singer.. hands down ! I am so bad……….

  54. Natalie October 23, 2010 at 4:21 pm #

Now..no laughing. It is a dream of mine to be on Broadway..not because I am a fabulous singer or dancer but wish I could do both. I love it! So silly.

  55. Elizabeth@BlueClearSky October 23, 2010 at 3:36 pm #

I sing, just not well! My kids don’t seem to care though. I would rather dance well, more exercise and there is just something so lively and almost sensual about it.

  56. Danielle Farley October 23, 2010 at 3:24 pm #

I would love to be able to sing. There are so many songs that convey emotions or bring back memories for me when I hear them. I would love to be able to belt out a song and give people goosebumps:)

  57. Audrey October 23, 2010 at 2:17 pm #

Hmm…there are a lot of stories and films that make me feel like i’d do anything for the chance to put on a fancy dress or outfit and dance (think Little Women, or Step Up)…but i’d rather be a singer. I fell in love with words and writing at a very young age, and singing kind of seemed to go hand in hand with that over time. Tough question, though, as both arts can convey emotion in such different, yet powerful ways.

  58. Louise October 23, 2010 at 1:29 pm #

Singer! My dad and sister can sing beautifully. They sing in church, for weddings, for special events, etc. They are always asked to lead the sing-a-longs at Christmas time and birthday parties. I’m a good clapper, and can keep a steady beat. ; )

  59. Sarah - Citified Country Girl October 23, 2010 at 1:06 pm #

Dancer all the way! I did ballet and tap for 6 years.

  60. meghan October 23, 2010 at 12:55 pm #

Id love to be able to sing. My dad and brothers are great singers and guitar players. I always dreamed about singing in a band. But my voice is actually terrible. Like, really bad.

  61. fancythis October 23, 2010 at 12:14 pm #

singer, definitely. i don’t have children yet, but i fear that one day when i do, and i’m singing them to sleep {i have this romanticized notion in my head of what putting children to bed involves, i know} they’ll say “no mama, please stop singing. you’re terrible.” or something similar.

  62. Abbey October 23, 2010 at 11:51 am #

Would have to say singer! Love singing at the tops of my lungs when I’m by myself. teehee

  63. Amanda Eck-TheEckLife October 23, 2010 at 11:07 am #

OH MAN! That is a hard one b/c I have always dreamed of being a back-up dancer for J-Lo or Beyoncee or Jay-Z or something like that. Then I have also always wanted to belt it out like J-Lo or Beyoncee too :-) So its a toss up for me. and SYTYCD is my FAVE!!!! my kids know not to disturb me when that is on!!! :-)

  64. Jessica October 23, 2010 at 10:48 am #

Singer! I am the world best car singer – as in when I am totally alone in the car, I love to turn up the music and SING! Away from the ears of the general public. I would love to be able to go for it any time and not have to worry about hurting other people’s ears.

  65. holly October 23, 2010 at 10:34 am #

SINGER! my husband and his entire family can sing and i would love to share that talent!

    you LOOK like a ballerina!
