highlights and favorite posts from 2013

2013 was a fun and filled year for jones design company. Here’s a look back at some highlights and favorite posts.

The year started off with a week of favorite books

we introduced our new puppy {who is now a lanky teenager with a thing for swallowing socks}.

Our little darling turned three and we hosted a fancy girly brithday party for her.

// MARCH //

better homes & gardens came to our home to photograph our kitchen

The magazine is scheduled to come out in just a few months!

// APRIL //

My best attempt at answering the question: how do you do it all? became a great conversation.

A few different chalk methods were tried out {and I misspelled a word in the images – ugh!}

A whole week of pleated projects got us in the bright, spring-time mood

// MAY //

A little laundry room redo transformed a boring space into a cheerful room that actually encourages me to do laundry

// JUNE //

The reveal of our unconventional fireplace makeover

// JULY //

I wrote the longest blog post ever answering most asked questions about blogging.

Then spent the month introducing favorite bloggers and giving fun stuff away!

// AUGUST //

After taking most of july off, creativity and motivation came back in full force. I started a boys’ room redo

painted a bunch of watercolor letters

and then was beyond flattered to have my office appear in a real magazine.

The kids went back to school and the house was tidied for a fall home tour

and the boys’ room was finally finished

creating a font has never been so easy {and fun!}

I made a wreath out of duct tape

and another out of tissue paper

gave our guest room a mini-makeover

and shared lots of gift wrapping ideas

spent a week or two getting our house decorated for the holidays and loved how it turned out.

and made the most delicious sea salt caramels. I can’t get enough of them.

This year has been a beautiful time of creativity, refinement, lessons in trusting and letting go and cherishing one another. My word for 2013 was Embrace and while not done flawlessly, this year marked growth for me in accepting change and finding joy in situations even when I don’t have control of them.

Thank you for being with me this year … for all of your kind comments and shop purchases, for the pins and likes and shares. Most of all, thanks for allowing me to share my life, heart, talents with you and for embracing me.

    loved looking back through your year with you….
    I’m so thankful for what God can teach us in a year’s time….
    I’ve had some much needed growth, too….
    learning to let go of things I can’t control, too….that’s a hard one. :)

    Happy New Year!
