things I like: worship for kids

I have a lot of kids.

Kids who like to be entertained in the car.

We have a dvd player, which believe me, gets plenty of use.

But sometimes I prefer to listen to something other than Robin Hood or Nemo and I want music that we can all enjoy.

    Enter Seeds Family Worship.

I learned about this amazing ministry through one of my all-time favorite blogs Bring The Rain and was very impressed with what they do.

They create music with lyrics straight from scripture.Ā  Catchy songs that sound good and are good for you.

I grew up listening to Psalty the Singing Songbook so there is something nostalgic about having my kids listen to him too, but I love these new Seeds cds just as much.

You can visit the website to learn more about the music and other family activities {h e r e}.

    *** UPDATE***

I forgot to mention that when you purchase a cd, a second comes with it for you to share with a friend {you know, the whole ‘plant a seed’ concept}. So if you are looking for a gift idea, go ahead and buy a cd for your family and you’ll have a gift to give as well!

    1. Thanks for the tip, I will have to check it out! Try finding children’s music from Marc Wymore, Puyallup, WA. , he has 2 kids CD’s out!

    2. My family loves these! I tell every parent about them. One time my oldest and a friend choreographed a dance routine to the songs. They are that hip and catchy!

So glad you are spreading the word!

      Xo,
      Linsey

    3. I grew up on Psalty, as well! I also loved Wee Sing. I’m not a huge fan of Veggie Tales in the car, so when the time is right, I will definitely look into Seeds! Great post.

    4. Thank you so much for posting this!! I have been wondering if there is any scripture memory songs out there anymore!! Love you so much for sharing…God bless!! xx

    5. Oh – thanks for “planting the seed!” These are great – I can’t wait to order a CD! I also have recently discovered Songs for Saplings. Not quite as upbeat, but really great!

    6. I’m so excited. I’ve been wanting some good, Scripture-based worship music for my Sunday School class. Thank you! I’d love to be a part of an organization like theirs– too bad for me that it’s in Nashville.

    7. Hi Emily!
Thanks so much for the mention on your lovely blog!!! We are so excited that you found us and you love us!! :)

Email me and I’ll let you know the latest and greatest news from Seeds and maybe we could arrange a giveaway!!

      Keep planting,
      Michelle

    8. I have never heard of Planting Seeds before, but think my kids will really like them. Can’t wait for them to listen to some of it. “Go Fish” is another group that my kids love and the music is fun and upbeat. Not your typical kid music. They have fun songs like the Mom Song, Superheroes and Get Your Jammies On which are all favorites of my kids, but they also have a lot of Christian songs as well. You might check it out, if you haven’t already heard of them. You can find them on You Tube.

    9. Thank you so much for this post. I teach the 3 year old choir at my church and this would be some great scripture songs to incorporate into our time together!

    10. this is AWESOME. my mother used to play Judy Rogers tapes in the car. She too has written songs straight from scripture. although a little dated and not quite as hip as SEEDS, filling your mind and the mind of your children with scripture put to song is rich. :)

    11. Wow…thanks for sharing that! I love it! I’m going to order a CD for my two little girls! We really are “planting a seed” in their hearts!!! You are my kind-a girl!!! Thanks for all you do! Amy

    12. My mentor gave me one of the SEEDS CDs a few years back and I LOVE them! My 4 kids love them too, it’s so sweet to hear my 3 year old singing out verses to the Lord! I just love your blog (one of my top 3 I visit!!), and I love the fact that you stand up for your faith and are so up front about it- it makes your blog even MORE interesting and rich!! :-) Blessings to you!! -Kristine

    13. LOVE IT! My friend and co-worker, Philip Morlan, travels and leads worship for Seeds. We use it in our children’s ministry here. So fun to hear you loving it all the way to Washington!

    14. Oh boy, totally have to comment. Just had a God moment. I have just about finished an embroidery of Philippians 4:8 today. Then I watched a totally disturbing show on t.v. that just got me so down in the dumps about our lives and future and etc. etc. I checked my email and hopped on over here. What do you know. My answers from God. Just a reminder for me that he loves me and cares so much and that the answers for surviving in this scary world are right here in His word! I’m totally printing out Philippians 4: 6-8 and putting it where I can see it ALL THE TIME! Thank you for sharing this…God totally used you today…brought me to tears!

    15. Thank you so much for sharing!! Can’t wait to order these for my kiddos. My oldest has gotten tired of Veggie Tales. I too grew up on Psalty – LOVE IT!! Love some of the other things in their store as well. Thanks again!

    16. We LOVE Seeds!! My 2 year old sings along. I love, love that it’s scripture set to music so when he learns a song, he’s memorizing scripture. We have 4 of their CD’s and have given them as bday presents to his friends as well. A GREAT buy!

    17. I tried to order volume 1 and they were out. They have volume 2-5 and you can preorder 6 I believe.
Thanks for suggestion. I raised children with Psalty and now have twin 10 month old boy grandchildren and ready to plant some seeds in them! Can launch into practice makes perfect now……. You did a christmas card for me of them. Got rave reviews.

    18. Thank you for sharing this!! I too grew up listening to Psalty {tapes, yep 80’s child! hehe} and still can remember some of the songs, so that tells you how very important it is to be careful what your children hear and listen to. Thank you for this link! I just clicked on it and as soon as it came on, my 2.5 yr old started rocking out! I love that you buy one and get one to share! We will be checking that deal out! Thanks!! God Bless!

    19. Oh me too! Loved Psalty TAPES! Wow, feel old. Thanks for the post! My son watches Jana Alayra DVDs in the van. And he loves them. She is a Christian artist based down here in So Ca. She does body worship with her songs and he really loves it! http://www.janaalayra.com
I will check out SEEDS too!

    20. Ahhh!! I LOVED Psalty when I was little!!! I’ve been looking to get a CD for my 2 year old but haven’t found one…maybe I should look on ebay or something. I still remeber all the songs and especially the ones that were scripture! Thanks for the tip on the Seeds….that sounds neat, too!

    21. I just love this!! Thank you for the YouTube. My little one loved it too. You are bringing my family closer to God. Thanks!! I am going to order one and give one to my BF.

    22. Thanks for sharing this. I saw a recommendation for this on another blog, Destiny in Bloom, but hadn’t gotten around to checking it out for myself until today. LOVE IT! I just bought 2 CD’s.

    23. We love the SEEDS albums. They are solid. A great way to learn scripture and the songs are catchy for kids and not annoying for parents- a rare combination! So glad you are promoting them!

    24. Oh my goodness! You posting this is an answer to prayer! I have been playing the same 2 VHS tapes from when I was little over and over for my kids. They are only slighty outdated, lol. I watched a few on you tube and they are even better then what i had been praying for! Thank you thank you thank you!

    25. YES! We are huge Seeds fans here. I’ve blogged about them before too. We have every one of their CDs and I’ve seen a huge difference in my kids since those truths have been planted and growing in their hearts. Aren’t they great?! (Written by a huge child-of-the-80’s Psalty fan.)

    26. I LOVED Pstaly when I was growing up. My church did a play (or something like that) with the Children’s ministry and we sang the songs…acted out scenes, etc. I can’t believe I still remember that. Wow…

    27. ohmyword!! just had to leave a note! 1. we LOVE seeds and THIS song in particular is one of our favorites!! i have four girls & this year we came up with a personal verse for each of them for the year and this verse belongs to my 7 yo. i.did.not. know there was a VIDEO!!! {can you tell i’m excited?!} i can’t WAIT to show the girls when they get home!!

okay, and 2. i totally used to listen to psalty when i was young, but as an adult, can’t remember who or what it was i listened to. but i loved that music when i was younger and would love to have my girls hear it too. so thank you!! i’m off to find psalty! :)

    28. That’s great! Another great one to check out is ElevateFamily.com. They also create 8-week Bible study lesson plans for churches to use.

    29. We LOVE Seeds……we got to know Jason and his family last year, when he did a concert at our church, and they are marvelous!!!! Thanks for spreading the word :)

    30. I didn’t read all the comments, so sorry if this is a repeat, but I have to suggest the CD Hidden in My Heart Scripture Lullabies. Now, of course, it’s not as upbeat and as entertaining as your music selection here, but I love putting it on in the evenings around our home. It’s soothing for kids and adults alike and repetitive enough that the words really do “stick.” http://scripture-lullabies.com

    31. Thanks for posting this!! I grew up listening to Psalty too and am so excited to get the Seeds CD’s for my two year old…and myself!!

    32. OH, so many good things in this post! Firstly, Psalty. I still get fractions of his songs in my head ( “Heaven is a wonderful place, filled with glory and grace”…..I can’t remember the rest). Secondly, what a great site for Scripture Memory! I’m pretty sure our college students would love this (my husband and I work with the Navigators college ministry), let alone my own kids (in the future; my one is too small to understand it). And thirdly, but not lastly, I love the typography in the videos! SO not cheesy. :)

Thank you for sharing such a great site! :-D

    33. I have to let you know that once I heard the youtube song I went ahead and bought the CD! My kids love Christian music and they have been hounding me to buy some new cd’s for the car. Thanks for introducing our family to Seeds! I also linked your post to my facebook page so friends can learn about them as well! Thanks Again!

    34. Yes, Thanks for telling us about that! I am so excited to get that for our family. It will make driving around town and cleaning house so much more fun!

    35. Thanks for posting this! We listen to a lot of Veggie Tales Worship, but I think my kids are starting to talk like VT characters. These would be helpful for me on rough days too!

    36. I found out about them a few weeks ago.
I love the idea of listening to straight scripture as sometimes our Christian radio station just doesn’t cut it for me (too much talk, way way too much repetition).
I don’t have any little ones, but I have been thinking that my bro and sil would love this for their new addition coming this spring.
      Thanks for the reminder!

    37. Thanks for sharing, I’ll have to check it out! I’m getting a bit tired of the Veggie Tales music we have in the car. I grew up with Psalty too! And GT and the Halo Express. I still get those songs stuck in my head.

    38. Emily, my kids are all adults now (in their 20’s) but we grew up on Psalty. In fact, every year the private school they attended would put on a Psalty play. I was Psaltina one year! Good times! Thanks for sharing today!

    39. i used to be a children’s ministry director and i LOVED playing these songs for the kids because it is God’s words put to catchy tunes! and i might have also memorized some scripture in the process…booya!

    40. I just was introduced to you site about a week ago from a friend. I can’t believe that you post this about the Seeds Family worship today….One of the gentlemen from Seeds Family worship is going to be at my office tomorow recording for a radio broadcast and he is going to lead our stff in worship….so Cool. Thanks for sharing!

    41. I LOVE this. Thank you so much for sharing. I love it for me just as much as the kids. I have to admit I have been bad about my memory verses since having our last child. This is a great way for me to work on it for all of us.

    42. Thanks so much for posting this today. I really needed to be reminded (AGAIN!!) that I need not be anxious about anything (like our house selling!!) that all things work in Gods time and not in my time.

    43. I am a silent stalker on your site. I have never commented but had to let you know how much I LOVE this! I will be ordering today. Thank you for fearlessly sharing your faith.
