Coffee Chat Episode 23 |

Sometimes I like to do a thing we call COFFEE CHAT. It’s been a few months (what?!) so let me explain in case this is your first one.

If we were hanging out in real life sipping coffee, perhaps we would chat about these things. I basically jot down a few topics, turn on the camera and just start talking. It’s not scripted or polished (and sometimes I forget to check my hair in the mirror before recording – oops!), but I hope it feels a tiny bit like we’re just visiting like old friends.

So grab a cup of coffee, press play and let’s chat!

  • I’m super bummed because this sweater/wrap/blanket I’m wearing is not to be found online. I bought it in the scarf section at Target just last week, and love it so much, I bought two. It was $29, I think, and super comfy.

(I wore the gray version earlier this week when we surprised my flight attendant mom at the airport. It was her last flight before retirement! My big sister is on the left and little sister on the right. Do we look alike?)

Thanks again for watching, reading, commenting, liking, and generally being the best virtual friends a girl could ask for. Merry Christmas!

I think I found the sweater wrap online! If you search “long sweater wrap” on the Target website it comes up.

Merry Christmas Emily! I look forward to your coffee chats; thanks for all the fun info. Such a cute idea to do the guessing gifts; since my little ones are a bit younger maybe its okay to start tonight lol
Have a blessed holiday season with your family and also, LOVE the wallpaper!!

Thanks for another fun coffee chat! And for the links to your adorable gift tags, they were life savers!! I printed multiple sets when I realized I was out and could not find any in my local stores(small town life, haha). Merry Christmas to you and your family Emily!

I like the guessing gift idea!
    That would be fun!
I also have a 13 yr old son.
It’s getting harder to find “fun” gifts.
    Do you have any suggestions?

Who is the sweater/wrap/blanket made by? Anything that is described that way is a must have!

Love these videos! They encourage me to make a latte & sit down to rest. Thank you 💖

I love the idea of guessing gifts! Might have to implement over here, too… I have a 14, 12, and 10 year old so it could be VERY fun.

Merry Christmas to you & your family!! Can’t wait to hear what you’re planning for 2018 ☺️

Emily–there’s something on the Target website that calls itself a “travel wrap” that looks very like what you’re wearing in the photo. Is it the same?

    • emily December 15, 2017 at 10:09 am #

No, that one is not it. The one I have goes on like a cardigan – with arm holes. Just no closure.

I love the guessing gifts idea! Do you have a gift for each child or is it a shared gift? Love your coffee chats! Have a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

    • emily December 15, 2017 at 10:08 am #

Yes, we do one for each kid. It’s so fun!

What a fun family you are! And yes, you girls do look alike. Merry Christmas.

Coconut oil is AMAZING! It’s a weird concept putting oil on your face – oil makes you think oily skin – but that’s not the case at all. It really works! I have been using coconut oil as my face moisturizer for at least 2 years now and I will never go back to standard “lotion”. A hidden gem for sure and so good for so many things!! And Grove Collaborative is amazing!! Thank you for introducing me to such a wonderful company!

Happiest of holiday wishes and blessings to you and your family Emily!

      Jill and Emily,
I am just curious, are you able to wear makeup over the coconut oil? If so, is there a drying period? It sounds so hydrating but I am imagining that my makeup would just slide right off.
      Thank you!

      • emily December 15, 2017 at 11:29 am #

It soaks in pretty well and doesn’t leave your face feeling oily. I use a light tinted moisturizer, and it stays on well.

I agree with Emily. It does soak in pretty quickly and any excess I wipe off with a tissue before applying my makeup. I use a mixture of 2 parts castor oil (weird I know!) to 1 part sunflower oil (found in your local grocery store by the cooking oils) to remove my makeup and that works great too. Even takes off waterproof mascara with ease!
