Coffee Chat No. 5

I pressed record on the camera with a short list of topics to mention and didn’t realize I was feeling so chatty!

This coffee chat is a random one with thoughts on field trip guilt, the most delicious make-ahead s’mores, eyebrows, recent reads, favorite apps and the long-awaited black and white striped dish towels.

Enjoy!

MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO

UPDATE: The first batch sold out much faster than we anticipated. We just reordered and a new shipment should be to us this week. I’ll put them in the shop as soon as they are available.

I hope you enjoyed our little visit. As always, let me know if you have a topic you’d like to chat about in a future coffee chat!

Will you have anymore of the tea towels? I really enjoy your coffee chats!

    • emily April 20, 2016 at 8:45 pm #

Yes! We have another shipment ready to add to the shop. Just trying to catch up on shipping out the last orders and I’ll add them in next week.

Is there a delay for the towel delivery? Ordered April 8th and shows it is still processing. Just wondering!

    • emily April 20, 2016 at 10:33 am #

I’m so sorry! We’re doing our best to get them all out as soon as possible!

So I started reading The Paris Architect because I love books on WWll but I couldn’t get over a certain part in the book so I stopped at chapter 5. I did love the detailed writing though and the over all concept. I’m sure I could have skipped over certain parts and read through and may later this warm season. Another book that Is such a favorite of mine was written by Iris Origo called The War in Val del Orico. It is her journal of what she experienced in Italy during WWll.

I drew NY eyebrows on for 15 years (15-30) because the outsides of my eyebrows were non-existent. Then I got them permanently done (lasts 8 years) & it is the BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE! no joke…. I come out of the shower every day with perfect eyebrows & I smile. Would totally recommend!

Just curious what filter (if any) you use in Afterlight, or what your normal photo edit steps are?

Emily!! I love watching your coffee chats; they are so fun to see! I saw that you are stopping in Broken Arrow on your road trip!! I had to read it a couple times because I couldn’t believe you were stopping where I live! Let me know if you need any recommendations on things to do or places to eat! I could also make sure I was available for a real life coffee chat ?

I just ordered a pair of the striped dish towels and am looking forward to having them in my kitchen! Here’s a quick question for you- do you have a kitchen wash cloth that you love? I have been looking and can’t find anything that doesn’t stain or look dingy. Thank you, love your coffee chats and am looking forward to following along on your road trip.

Hi Emily, I missed out on the towels even after having them in my shopping cart. Bad on my part for waiting till evening to purchase them. Any chance you will be restocking them soon?

    • emily April 11, 2016 at 1:03 pm #

We just placed another order and will have them this week!

Thanks for the chat, Emily! I just have a question about the s’mores – the recipe calls for a large, toasted marshmallow but yours look like they have mini marshmallows inside them. Just wondering how you melted/toasted them enough for the s’more to stick together? Thanks!

    • emily April 9, 2016 at 10:51 pm #

I spread peanut butter on one cracker and layered them with a bunch of mini marshmallows. Then I popped the baking sheet into the broiler for about a minute until they were a little melty and slightly toasted. Then pull them out and top with the nutella-spread cracker. let cool to room temperature and then dip in chocolate.

I agree about the Lake House – fabulous! I read The Coincidence of Coconut Cake – awful, imho. Pretty cover, but a very sugary, predictable, shallow read and poorly written, as well. The Wedding Dress wasn’t great, but had more depth for a light read. Can’t wait to try the S’mores! Thank you for the chat!

Emily, have you heard of the app First 5? It is a really good app where you can even set a timer in the morning. It is by the Proverbs 31 ministry. It is free unless you want to buy the download and go further/journal, etc. There is a short scripture reading and then devotion to follow. You can read more scripture as well and there is also a place to leave comments. I have downloaded She Reads Truth and cannot wait to check it out and share with my friends!

You turned me onto Kate Morton’s books and I have read all of them! They are fantastic! Every time I finish one I get sad that the story is ending and I miss all the characters!

    Emily –
The VIKI app sounds really cool. I just told my dad about it. He does marketing for the dept of tourism here in TN, representing East TN. He could be VIKI…he knows so much about many things around here.
I haven’t looked into much about your road trip, but it sounds fabulous. I remember seeing you are stopping in Seaside…one of my favorite places on earth. We went a lot as kids to my aunt and uncle’s house there and took my cousins with us. So many fun memories. Can I get you to mail me a cinnamon roll and a chocolate, chocolate chip muffin from Modica’s Market? ;-) If you are making your way through TN and need some ideas, check out tnvacation.com or check out http://www.tntrailsandbyways.com – The 2nd link has info on driving trails that are cool for sight-seeing. My dad worked on the Rocky Top Trail. Go to the link and then click on #3 “Explore the Trails” to see all the trails they list. My dad should pay me commission for helping advertise. :-) Seriously, I don’t share because he worked on it, but because I think they are pretty cool options.

Emily, as always, fun, gorgeous, helpful, engaging! I really hope I can do some videos like this on my blog soon. I really admire your ability to focus on a project and carry it out so well. You are such an inspiration! Ps I totally copied you and ordered the same phone case❤️

The towels sold out SO quick again!! I have 4 but was going to try and snag a few more. Guess I’m going to have to baby them so they last forever lol!
Great video as always! Enjoy your weekend:-)

Are the towels already sold out?

    • emily April 8, 2016 at 11:05 am #

Yes! Those went so fast. I ordered as many as I could!

    • Mel April 8, 2016 at 12:09 pm #

Disappointing…I’ve been checking each morning for the past couple of weeks so I wouldn’t miss it. Checked too late this morning =(

  21. Laura April 8, 2016 at 10:34 am #

So excited about the dish towels, but your Shop says out of stock! Is this possible already?!?

    • emily April 8, 2016 at 11:05 am #

I enjoyed this chat so much! I was interested in each thing you talked about from mom’s guilt to make-up to weather (why, yes, I can tell you what the weather is in Florence, Italy or Budapest today) to apps you use. Thank you for this Friday gift:)

    • emily April 8, 2016 at 11:04 am #

I’m glad you enjoyed it! Random topics, for sure.

    Hi Emily,

I love watching your coffee chats. You are such a beautiful soul!

So excited about the hand towels, I ordered 2 pairs. I was just having a discussion about the dishtowels we have with my husband last night. I bought them because they looked great in our kitchen but they are NOT absorbent at all. I was telling him I was going to have to find new ones because they are driving me crazy. Can’t wait to get your striped ones in. Thank you for sharing with us your awesome find.

Have a great trip, can’t wait to hear about it.
    Suzi

    Hi Emily,

Thanks for answering my question regarding your favorite apps. You mentioned one of my favorites the “She Reads Truth” app. I love, love, love it! It’s great to open up and read the daily devotions whenever I have a free moment.

Do you have any issues with the Kindle app crashing a lot? Not sure, maybe it’s just me…

Can’t wait to follow you on the big trip! Best of luck to you and your family!!

    Have fun!
    Jennifer F.

    • emily April 8, 2016 at 11:03 am #

Thanks for asking the great questions! I don’t feel like my kindle app crashes … hmmm.
