You may remember that I’ve been working on a bedroom makeover for our little girl, Audrey. I just looked back at the initial design board post and it is dated two years to the day that I decided to just be done with it. Two years!
I was having such a hard time finishing her room. Do you have any spaces in your house like that? You have ideas, but not all are practical or in the budget and so you just wait, feeling this nagging sense of incompleteness every time you walk by.
Well, this weekend I just made the decision that it is done. Not because all of the ideas I have for her room are finished, but rather because it is good enough. It’s darling, actually. And even though the curtains are tacked up and we never got to the builtins, sometimes you just have to leave it alone. Check it off the list. Snap some photos and close this two year makeover chapter.

Isn’t it sweet? The sun popped out earlier this week and so I hurriedly tidied up her room (let’s not even talk about all the little trinkets a nearly six year old girl loves to collect and scatter about her room) and took these pictures.
When Audrey came home from school that day she was delighted to see her room looking so pretty. It was really sweet. And you know what? She has no idea that I stopped short of all my ideas. She loves her room just the way it is. I suppose I do, too.

Beautiful , You did a great job. My granddaughter’s bedroom has those slanted ceilings & short little walls. It is hard to figure it out & worst of all her mom bought her a single be that goes into a double bed with side raise that connected to the headboard. It takes a lot of room. No closest. Really difficult.

I love all of the grown up but whimsical colors. The gallery wall looks great! They are so hard to do sometimes. I have a huge wall I’m trying to do a gallery on and it’s posing as very difficult! It will probably take me two years too! haha!
It’s adorable and yes, I know exactly what you mean. I just need to be done with my girls rooms and consider them done rather than waiting for them to be perfect – because that’s never going to happen.

I did paint her bed. It is Sherwin Williams Rushing River – a great gray/blue.

That valance – do not follow my poor example :) I was waiting for my mom to help me make it for real and then just decided that tacking it up with thumb tacks works fine for me. The pleat and poms are pinned. Like I said, do not follow my lead on this one.

Thanks! I used a piece of wrapping paper to cover the frame and the backing. It gives a plain frame an extra pop!
Love! Its absolutely precious. I love that you layered an area rug over wall-to-wall carpeting. I have always wondered how that would look in my kids’ rooms. Would love a pic if you can get one! Thank you for sharing!
I think the key to layering a rug over carpet is to make sure it is thick enough to not move around everytime you step (or play) on it, and make sure it is big. This one is an 8×10 and works well. I’ve put lighter weight and smaller cotton rugs in the boy’s room and in our bonus room, and they just end up bunched up.
LUV it! you do such a great job with your art displays and gallery walls, I love what you did on her wall, and the hanging paper fans, i would have loved to have that display as a kiddo!

Is the ceiling painted a darker color? Does it help make a room look bigger when you do that? What is the wall color? It’s such a fresh look. Nice job!
It’s always a joy to take a peek at your home…and loved the video perspective you recently shared.
My habit is to make a running list of all the little projects I want to do and then ultimately leave it until a) it’s time to change out decor for the season or often b) do it right before we expect company. I don’t know why that it.
And then there’s the tendency to stop just short of finishing a bigger project…like actually painting over the walls we’ve repaired or putting the quarter-round on the baseboards in the kitchen.

The print is from the office store – just a cheap black and white copy. Then I hung using thumb tacks and binder clips. So easy!

Ha! I am working on my 3 year olds big girl room (trying to choose a paint!) took a lunch break and saw this! We have the same duvet and I love it!! Audrey’s room is precious. I am starting to think it may take me 2 years too!
