six favorite looks for fall

    six-favorite-looks-for-fall

    Fall is my favorite. For many reasons – changing leaves, football season, apple crisp – but right at the top is fall fashion. Sweaters. Boots. Jeans. Cozy.

    I feel best wearing clothes that cover up this pale skin (shorts are not my favorite) and love dressing in layers. I live in the Seattle area where we have cooler weather (it’s been in the high 60’s this week), with likely drizzling rain on one day and crisp clear skies the next.

    Since we can all use a few new outfit ideas, I’ve put together six of my favorite looks for fall. And BONUS! most items are recent purchases and not crazy-expensive.Ā  All items that are available are linked to the source

    This sweatshirt dress is so great and everything you would want for a cozy/put-together fall outfit. Pair it with leggings and tall boots, or tights and booties.

    // LOOK TWO //

    leggings-sweatshirt

    Because we all need comfy days. I like layering a long tank under this super soft sweatshirt (with a longer back to cover the bum!).

    // LOOK THREE //

    sweater-skinnies-heels

    Chunky knit sweaters in warm fall tones are always good to throw on with jeans. Dress it up with heels, or wear with tall boots.

    I’ll call this look soccer mom since this is what I wear most saturdays to my kids’ games (with a rain coat or puffy vest, of course).

    top / jeans / boots / scarf / sunglasses / watch (similar)

    // LOOK FIVE //

    So I just bought myself my first pair of booties. And I’m completely sold. I felt weird the first few times wearing them (am I doing it right? What do I wear with them?) but then I just got over it and now I want to wear them everyday. I like them best with skinny jeans rolled up and a loose/longer top. This sweatshirt coat is a new instant favorite.

    Another outfit with the booties and for a little variety I went with a cotton t-shirt and jacket.

    So there are six of my favorite looks this fall. Do you have a favorite?

    1. This post made me laugh out loud in my car- Looking back over the past years, I have picked up one or two things almost every time. Thank you for being my personal fashionista! xo

    2. After seeing this post, I spent the next month coveting the Old Navy Sweatshirt Dress because my size went out of stock. By a stroke of weird luck, both the light grey and dark gray became available at the same time, and I snapped them up! Thanks for the recommendations! I hope you will do a fashion post every season! (I got the navy Evy’s Tree, too! Love!!)

    3. I love the hoodie dress from old navy. I love that you said that you were perplexed by the bootie. To me, you are SO put together, SO stylish, SO confident. I would never imagine that you would not know how to wear something. You are a real person too and I love that you shared that!

    4. okay, i am with you on the bootie thing. i just got mine and i love them. the only problem is they make clicking noises when i walk (like heels would) and it just makes me feel way over dressed. maybe i need to get over it.

    5. Hi. I love your riding boots. I know they are an older pair but would love to know the brand. Maybe they have a current style. Thanks!

    6. I too am looking for a pair of booties this fall. Just wanted to give a shout out to Nordstrom Rack as a great place to find fabulous booties at reasonable prices. Yes, you’ll still run across the $600 dollar pair marked down to “just” $325, but I also saw a bunch that were made of beautifully supple leather with fun details that were right around that $80-100 range.

    7. Thanks for all the time you put into this post… links and all! I like to cozy but have been trying to look more put together at the same time. This was great inspiration! I’m totally ordering up one of those dresses from outfit #1, and can I just say I love your hair in outfit #5. Would love a tutorial on that :)

    8. Love these posts! Keep ’em coming, please!! Had to go do a bit of shopping after reading this on Friday….got the Target coat–last one in my size and wearing it today. Also went to ON for the gray dress but sadly it looks much better on you than it did on me :( Very impressed with how soft it is though, too bad it didn’t work out. On the hunt now for something similar.

    9. Thanks for posting this! I ordered the red sweater and gray sweater dress from old navy. I’m wondering what size you got for the dress? Some reviewers said it ran small. Btw Gap is having 40% off everything online thru 10/19- I was able to get some good deals!

    10. Am I a little out of touch? Are we “allowed” to wear brown shoes with black and grey tops now? I thought if we wear something in the brown family we should wear brown shoes and if we wear black or grey we need to wear black or grey shoes? What’s the current clothing theology?

      1. I’m not sure if it’s allowed or not, but it’s what I like. Adding brown to gray warms it up. I dress similar to how I decorate our house, and there are lots of mixed metals and natural browns combined with gray, black and white.

    11. I grew up in the Seattle area, but I’m currently living in the desert of Southern California. Your outfitts look so cozy and remind me of home. I’m still wearing shorts, but dreaming of cooler weather. The sweatshirt dress looks like the perfect mom dress to wear while chasing after my 3 little ones.

    12. Cute, cute, cute! And best of all, your style reflects YOU! With all those neutrals you can easily add color to any of those outfits. Just add a colored ballet flat, colored knee socks that show over the top of your boots, a colored scarf or a colored beanie. :)

    13. Please do this for every season!! I’m definitely copying #1, #2, and #4. Love them!! And….if I ever get over my “bootie hesitation”, I’ll copy the rest of them. Thanks!!

    14. Love all of the looks! My favorites are 1, 2 & 4. I have a question on the skinny jeans from Zara, how do they fit? Does their stuff run smaller than regular US stores? Just wondering as I have been eyeing a pair of their skinny jeans for a while and they don’t have reviews on their site. Thanks!

    15. I love your style! Thanks for sharing your favorite fall looks. I will be purchasing many of these items. Are the Paige jeans in the last look the same color as the link to Amazon? Yours look much darker. The color on the link is called Easton. Thanks!

    16. I clicked on the link for the cute sweatshirt coat and have to say that Target should hire you to model for their web site – coat is way cuter on you : ) All the combinations look great on you and those booties are so cute.

    17. Loving all the fall outfit inspiration ( my fave part of fall/winter as well) but I couldn’t stop wondering WHAT ROOM ARE YOU IN?!?! The walls…curtains…is that your office?!

    18. I love your style! have those same “old” boots from your first outfit. I love them and every time I wear them someone asks, ” Where did you get those?” I think they were from DSW years ago. Definitely one of my favorite pair of boots!

    19. Looks 1, 3, and 5 are my favorites. Some really great pieces you put together. I’d like to imitate all of them. You have a nice casual style.

    20. What great timing! I was staring at a pair of nude pumps that I bought for a work event this summer and caught myself wondering if I could wear them this fall with jeans. Ha! Now I know the answer. Thanks for the inspiration.

    21. I have been waiting for one of these posts!! Love your style and am hoping you’re going to do one on little girls stuff very soon!!

    22. So cute! Thanks for sharing! I need all the fashion inspiration I can get, and these all look like things I’d actually wear :)

    23. since you brought up fashion, i’ve been meaning to ask where you got your hooded pea coat that you’re wearing in your bio photo. it seems like the perfect “only-coat-i’ll-ever-need; goes-with-everything” kind of coat! : )
