on a cold winter’s day

The perfect antidote to a chilly, trying-to-snow, wintery day …

homemade chicken noodle soup.

It’s a favorite around here and so simple to make.

I use Ina Garten’s recipe {found here} but add in extra noodles and use a store-bought rotisserie chicken instead of roasting my own.

And for dessert …

My favorite tea and not-too-sweet ginger cookies made by my mom {using another Ina recipe found here}.

Delish.  The perfect thing to keep you cozy on a cold winter’s day.

I was so excited to see the HEB tea too. I am lucky enough to live in HEB country and am surrounded by the wonderful stores. I will have to try that tea. They make a coffee with coconut flakes in it that I love…actually, they make tons and tons of things that I love!

Comfort food! Ahhhh – my favorite food of all! I see HEB tea?? Oh how I miss my HEB now that we have moved from Texas to Oklahoma. HEB is the best grocery store ever!!

I knew we were kindred spirits! ;) This is my absolute favorite tea too {I gave it to all of my Eastern Seaboard relatives last year}! But I’m confused… How do you know about {or have access to} my favorite only-in-Texas grocery store?

    • La Donna January 17, 2012 at 7:25 pm #

Yes!!! I want to know too!!! I’m so jealous. I’m in TX and we don’t even have an HEB in our town. That’s no fair!!!

That all looks so good, but the HEB tea just makes it look divine!

My best friend lived in Texas for several years and it was her favorite that she then introduced me to. A sweet reader sent me a box not too long ago and I’ve been savoring it!

Looks delicious, and just the thing for dinner tonight – we may finally get snow! :) I already have a chicken thawing. Thanks for the recipe!

Mmm….that soup look awesome (even though it’s 70 degrees here in E. Texas), but what really caught my eye was your tea.

I’m not usually a tea-kinda-girl, but cinnamon spice sounds delish!

if only we had an HEB nearby. : \

Funny how a few of us spotted the H-E-B tea! I was wondering the same thing, there’s no way you have that store in your area.

your chicken soup looks so good. i may have to try it if you say it’s that easy!

I had chicken soup on the stove and apple pie in the oven when I read your blog today, I needed something for my son who does not like apple pie (can you believe that), he loves ginger so the cookies were perfect – thank you.

oh my word, this is making my mouth water! i’m in aus, where it is summer- but a strangely cold drizzly day.

HEB’s cinnamon spice tea is my favorite, too. Unfortunately there are no HEBs around us so whenever we make a trip to Austin, Tx I stock up on tea!

H-E-B! That’s my fav. grocery store but I live in WA and alas…no more HEB. And how is it that you guys have snow and us here on the other side of the mountains have none? It’s 15 degrees here right now and no snow yet. Enjoy!

I make my homemade chicken noodle soup using a rotisserie chicken also. It cuts down on the prep time yet still has that yummy, homemade flavor. And Ive not found a better deal on them than at Sams Club. Each one is $4.99 and has a ton of meat on it!
    Have a lovely Monday!
