A few weeks ago I spent some time with two of my oldest friends {not old as in age, but old as in I’ve known them for a long, long time}. Both mentioned that they had their burlap wreaths up and that they wanted something a little springier for their front doors.
So Lindsay & Erin, this one is for you :
Here is what you’ll need:
:: wreath form {mine is 10 inches, but you could definitely go larger}
:: linen for the ruffles {about 12″ x 72″}
:: embellishments: eggs, nest, sheet moss, glitter, glue, white fabric, green felt
:: scissors, sewing machine, glue gun
STEP ONE: cut four strips of fabric {approximately 2.5″ x 72″}
I find it helpful to fold fabric to cut down on cutting distance.
STEP TWO: wrap wreath form with one strip
Using hot glue to adhere the end.
STEP THREE: stitch the remaining three strips of fabric together to create one long strip.
STEP FOUR: stitch the ruffle
With the machine set to the longest stitch, sew along one side of of the strip {about 1/8″ in}.
STEP FIVE: ruffle, ruffle, ruffle
{pull one thread to gather the fabric}
STEP FIVE: attach the ruffle to the wreath
with a bead of hot glue, adhere one end of the ruffle
STEP SIX: wrap the ruffle
Add a dab of hot glue under each ruffle edge to hold in place.
To finish, cut off remaining ruffle and glue down to hold.
So pretty on its own!
. . . to embellish . . .
STEP ONE: glitter the eggs {fun + messy craft to do with kids}
STEP TWO: add moss to wreath
cut moss to just larger than nest and attach to wreath with hot glue.
STEP THREE: add the nest
STEP FOUR: add mini flowers {tutorial here} and twigs
STEP FIVE: glue eggs in the nest
and you have a sweet spring wreath.
happy spring
Your wreath is adorable and great for Spring. Thanks so much for sharing.
I simply adore this bird’s nest wreath. I am planning to make one. I can see using it on my front door, in my living room (inside a big empty picture frame!) or in a bedroom – it can be used anywhere. I could move it from a bedroom to the front door every spring! It is just stunning. Thank you for inspiring us “greenhorns” out here and explaining the process so well. Your pictures are fantastic!
I love this wreath. I like the rustic feel with the glittered golden eggs. The moss lends a woodsy feeling – the whole thing just comes together perfectly. Thanks so much for this tutorial!

I love this! The nest is just the perfect touch.
If I had time I would make everything ~ I am into jewelry right now though and have no time for wreaths – but if anyone makes these and wants to do wholesale let me know!
I tried making this but found it very difficult to gather the fabric. After looking it up on google, you can’t ruffle the whole thing. It needs to be done in smaller sections. Wish I would have known this before trying it and wasting a lot of material.
I think it depends on the weave of your fabric and your thread strength. I did my whole piece of linen in one go, but perhaps my thread was a little stronger? Sorry you had trouble with it.
I love these designs! Now, to choose some for my new home! Oh yes, sorry bout this, but on your next tutorial, don’t let a manicure be something you overlook lol Sorry!
Almost done with mine. I’m a beginner in the sewing machine world so the ruffle is giving me a hard time but I’ll figure it out. Everything else was super easy thanks to your detailed tutorial. Can’t wait for my Easter guests to see it. I can hear the “ooohhhss” and “ahhhsss” already ;)
Lovely!! What a great spring gift this will make for my daughters.
I LOVE this wreath! It’s awesome. Many thanks for sharing :) I pinned this!
Saw your wreath at The Cottage Market and LOVE it!!! Pinned it. Thanks for the tutorial!
Love it! I featured this on my blog yesterday.

I made a wreath very similar to yours (and used yours as my inspiration!) and am posting about it later on this week. I linked back to you, hope you don’t mind! Also, I am in LOVE with the cabinet color behind your wreath, any chance you know the color? Thanks for the inspiration!
I think you are my soul mate! I just discovered your website and I must say I am smitten…I want to be you when I grow up
This is stunning simplicity at it’s best. LOVE this spring wreath!
Very creative and fun!! Looks adorable and festive!
Thanks for the inspiration for this wreath! I just made my own using vintage inspired fabrics, and can I say, I love the look of it!! Your creativity inspires me!

I love this! I can’t find a nest anywhere. Could someone give me an idea?
And, to answer the question about green felt, because I was wondering myself….it is used for the leaves behind the flowers she made with the white fabric.”
I love this wreath…it is so cute! Thanks for sharing!
lovely
Another adorable wreath! I made your harvest wreath and I’m just going to have to make this one. Thanks! Keep sharing.
This is such a cute, cute idea. My daughter actually recommended I take a look — when she was explaining why she finally wanted my old sewing machine! Well done!! :)
I was told about your website by a friend of mine, and after seeing this tutorial, decided to try my hand at it. I did a slight variation, and am thrilled with how it turned out! I hung it on my door today, and my neighbor came over this afternoon and was commenting on how she liked it and asking how it was done. Thanks so much for sharing!
I dont know how I missed this(as Im a subscriber) but thankfully Meg(Whatever) linked to it and Im so glad I found it! Im going to make this this week for hubbys grandmother. She loves birds and springtime. This will be perfect! Im loving those ruffles and glitter…divine!
XO,
Sarah
Just wanted you to know that your tutorial inspired me to make a wreath. Mine is burlap instead of linen. It is nowhere near as nice as yours but I am happy with it. Thanks!
I love your wreath – so much so that I copied it!!! I used a thrifted linen skirt which cost about $1 and a straw wreath form that I had on hand! So much fun to re-purpose! Thank you for the step by step – it was simple and fast and I am so happy with the results!
I absolutely adore this…especially the birds nest…unique and beautiful!!! Wowza
What a fantastic wreath! Beautiful!
Warm Wishes,
Jodie
absolutely love this sooo much! can’t wait to make one of my own. Thanks!
One of the most beautiful wreaths I’ve ever seen. Seriously. It’s AMAAAAAAAZING!!!!
:-D
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this! Our monthly craft club craft for April is “wreaths” & we were instructed to “find our own inspiration” and bring it for craft night. I am SO doing this one! Love it; thank you!
When I saw your darling wreath I knew I had to make it. Using linen is a great idea and the ruffles, oh my. I just finished making the wreath and it’s up on my front door. L.U.R.V.E. Thank you for sharing the tutorial and for your generosity. Cheers from sunny cold Toronto.
We are having a wreath-making party here in IL with chocolate, wine and hot glue. Thanks for being inspiring!
I love that you used linen, great job on the wreath!
Off subject….can I ask where the plate that you used for the glittering step came from? I should be looking at the project, but that plate caught my eye! :)
Ha, me too!
Emily, I love it! And I though just adding a pale blue flower (made with your lining material flower tut) to my coffee filter wreath was spring-y. I love ruffles and really love this! Thanks for sharing with us!
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing this tutorial!
really beautiful!
oh i LOVE it!!!! just made your book page wreath a couple weeks ago…i’ll definitely be making this one next!!! thanks for sharing your creative ideas!!!
Where did you use the green felt? Maybe I missed it, but I scrolled through twice and didn’t see where you used it. Also, what type of glue? Could I use spray glue that I already have or will it not be sticky enough to hold the glitter?
Thanks Emily!
LoVe! ok so i just stumbled on your blog from Holly Mathis & i am in LoVe with your blog! I totally adore your decorating style!
Hope that you have a beautiful day!

WOW! This is lovely :) come on over and link up to MMM!!
love it!!
Super cute!! Just like everything else you do!!
So cute! That’s all.
Super cute! Do you mind sharing where you bought the nest and the eggs? Thanks
Sure … I bought them at Ben Franklin crafts – a local craft store. I’m sure a larger chain like Michael’s or Joanns would have something similar.
Oh wow you have a Ben Franklin? We have one about 20 minutes away from here and although Ive not been yet, I guess I just figured they were an East Coast chain(and a dying one).
Looks like I have some crafting to do! Love that wreath! I think I might try it with a different color fabric than the burlap to change it up a bit! Great blog. I’m new to blogging, please stop by!
ridiculously cute! enough said.
Adorable! Linen+ruffles+glitter=LOOOVE!
darling wreath….i am going to make one for my front door. love it!!!
Love it! Can’t wait to gather up some goodies and make one!
OMG! I love this!! Such a cute idea. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to your blog everyday!!
It’s so beautiful! I love it!
Can’t wait to make it! I’m going to have to do the sewing by hand as I do not have a machine! Thank you for sharing!
ohhhhh!! I so have to do this!! I LOVE it..great job!
Love this and I’ve got to find time to make one! I’ve shared it with my Willow House fans on Facebook, too!
I LOVE this! sharing with all my fans over on facebook!
Thanks for sharing! I was just thinking this morning that it’s time for a new wreath on the door.
Ridiculous, LOVE IT!
(just changed up my burlap one wiht bright spring patterned fabric flowers and vintage buttons…how to choose?? maybe this one shall go inside, how many wreaths can one home have…)
Once again…I love it! Thx for the idea, keep’m comin’!!!!
This is SO pretty! I love your endless creativity…which is why I check your blog religiously, haha. I want to make one but don’t own a sewing machine, do you think this is possible {aka, won’t take 5 days} to do with just plain ol’ needle and thread?
For sure! Give it a try with a needle and thread – you don’t see the stitches anyway so I think it will work just fine.
Simple yet beautiful… Thank you for sharing!
That is so cute! I was just thinking that my Spring wreath was looking a little tired, so I might have to replace it with this!
Sweet!
Great wreath, love the fabric flowers attached to the real branch.
Great idea and so darling! My three-year-old son has been asking me for a nest for Easter. I think this is perfect and it would be great to have one egg for each of my three children.
Oh I love this wreath! It really makes me want to go and purchase a sewing machine so I can make one! It is truly stunning! TFS! :)
Oh I love this! I may just have to save this idea for next year. :)
Amazing Emily!! It is beautiful. I just love your style. Would be a great item in your shop!! Pretty Please!!
Sweet and lovely!
I love that the eggs get glittered! Such a cute extra little detail.
Absolutely adorable!!
I love it!! I’ve been gathering spring wreath inspiration for awhile and now I really need to just get down and do it!! Yours may be THE ONE. :)
Love this! So creative and great for Spring. Thanks for sharing!
Love it. That is just adorable.
love this! was thinking of perhaps bleached out seashell as an alternative? it so adorable.
headed to JoAnn’s! You have no idea how much I was hoping/anticipating a spring wreath from your crafty brain! Yesss! Just in time! It’s awesome. Thanks….again! =)
I love this new wreath! I would make it today – but I think I need to paint my door black first – the red I did a year ago just isn’t working for me anymore. :) You never fail to come up with something slightly new and completely lovely – thank you for sharing!
I just love this wreath!! It’s so beautiful and I cannot wait to make one for my door! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial..each step makes perfect sense..I love it when that happens :D Have a wonderful day!!
Oh great! I just made a book page wreath using your tutorial last week-LOVE LOVE LOVE- and now I’m going to have to make this one too!
Pure sweetness! Everything you touch becomes beautiful!
I made my own version of your last burlap wreath, but for spring….I’ll have to send you a pic. But I absolutely must try this one….of course one never knows what twist it will take.
Happy Spring to you!!
Love it…
I am a fan of all the elements you’ve used – and LOVE the final result! The wreath is spectacular. That ruffled linen makes quite the statement~! =-D
Very pretty!
Greetings from Germany
So cute and creative! i love all your wreaths, and i’m with the previous poster, if you sell it, i will definitely buy one!
Stunning!!! I would make it in a heartbeat, but I do not own a sewing machine. Would you be willing to make some to sell? I’d snatch it up. I have made every wreath tutorial you’ve posted and love them all! Thanks Emily!
