Here’s something I have learned about myself through putting all these tutorials on the blog: almost every one could be described as simple. Simple pillow. Simple paper flower. Simple embellished tshirt.
Today’s project is no different. Actually, it’s probably the simplest of all, which makes it one of my favorites because you can whip this out in just a few minutes.
Just the kind of projects I like.
I present you with: how to make a tissue paper flag banner.
These little flags were made at one am the night before Audrey’s party. I know, that’s crazy. I thought so too when I looked at the clock. But they really made the table area festive and I’m so glad I did this.
Here’s what you need:
:: tissue paper {mine is from here}
:: twine
:: scissors, paper cutter and tape {oops, not shown}
STEP ONE: fold a stack of paper and cut in strips.
STEP TWO: unfold each strip and cut into desired rectangle size {mine are 6 x 8}
STEP THREE: cut notches out of the bottom of each rectangle
STEP FIVE: cut twine to desired length. Just string it up where you’ll hang your banner and add a few inches.
STEP SIX: tape the back of each flag to the twine, leaving a few inches between each flag.
Then hang!
See? Very simple. But very cute.
Where did you get your chalk board? I love it!
Love how simple and sweet these are! I think I want to decorate my daughter’s playroom with these! I wish you could just come to my house and make little decorating pointers to cozy up my house.
Sweetest party ever…I don’t have any babes yet, but watching you with Audrey has made me pray for a little girl one day. All of your parties for her and her nursery has given me so much inspiration to store away until the blessed day that I can pull it out and use it for our baby girl.
If you wanted to design some gold (and maybe silver) polka dot paper, I would not be opposed to that! :) Love the watercolor ones too!
I love the banner! Her party was so cute!
I love this!
I have that exact same tissue paper. Now I know how to decorate at a friend’s baby shower. Adorable craft Emily!
Great project!!! So perfect for birthday parties! And I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who stays up until wee hours of the morning finishing projects like these :)
Love this sweet and simple tutorial! And I can even make this banner TODAY (!) without having to run out to the craft store — nice!! Thanks for posting.
Emily, one of the things I love about your projects/tutorials is that they are simple and thus doable! It’s the little things that make ALL the difference – your posts prove that all the time. You are inspiring me. I made the word “easter” out of wire (similar to your “baby” wire tutorial) and hot glued it on a plain wooden cross. It was simple and easy. I thought to myself, this is something Jones Design Co would make :) Pls keep the “simple” tutorials coming!!
Perfect, easy but so adorable. Yes, Please please please, will you share your tissue paper source?
I love this tutorial! Can you share your source for the tissue paper! I love it!!
Yes {it’s up there, but sort of hidden}. I bought it from amazon – it is an add on item so you have to spend $25 in order to purchase, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for this household! Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009PC4NY8/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B009PC4NY8&linkCode=as2&tag=jdc046-20
Thanks! I was on my phone & totally missed the link!
