The day before the boutique my sister called to say that many of her friends were interested in coming but they didn’t really know what it was. Ryan and I had a vision for what we wanted it to be, but explaining it was a little challenging. Store? Cocktail party? Art gallery? Craft show? None of them really fit, but it was the best we could come up with. My cousin jokingly called it my coming out party, which ironically wasn’t too far from the truth!
So here we are : the details from the summer boutique.
And, yes, I fully recognize that there are far too many photos in this post but I just couldn’t edit anymore out.
the entrance. All the gorgeous flowers were arranged by my talented mother-in-law.
i think it looks so pretty!
The pillows were a hit. My mom is such a talented seamstress and it was fun to collaborate with her on these.
Custom name prints : a new product I’ll be selling. Details will come soon.
We used an old dresser as our check-out desk. It worked perfectly with its drawers in the front and chalkboard painted back.
gift tags
burp cloths
ruffle headbands
I love these little word cards. Especially the word ‘grandiloquent’. I’ve never heard of it before but it means ‘eloquent on a grand scale’. I think I’ll start using it in sentences.
And this book is great too. It teaches shorthand, an extinct form of writing but so fascinating.
Look! I have customers! Awfully great ones too.
My girl made a short appearance in between sleeping and crying. Poor baby. She didn’t get much mommy time this particular day and she was not the happiest girl.
My cute sister & brother-in-law were such amazing help. Love them.
Again, thanks to everyone who made this a special event. My mom, mother-in-law, sisters, brother-in-law, aunt who came up from California, friends who drove an hour to show their support and all the sweet customers who made my day.
And my husband. To use my creativity in a tangible way is such a privilege and I am thankful to have a partner who not only supports me, but encourages me along the way.
Emily, I am following your new floor install as we are getting ready to put ours down also. Love it and can’t wait to see it finished.
I am interested in the aqua, lime green and printed pillow you have on your couch. It is the one on the left. these are the colors I am using in my new house and would love to know if it is still for sale. If not can I buy a piece of fabric and I can make it. Hoping you still have it. lol
Love all your goodies.

I look at this post at random times because all the pretty little things make me so happy!! I wish my entire house was filled with all your beautiful creations! It’s a good thing I live far away from you in WV- I would want to buy every adorable thing you had!
I love this idea. Was this done out of your garage? How often do you do it and are sales going well? I work fulltime, but make custom flipflops and jewelry on the side. I would love to do something like this since I cant be at a retail store everyday due to my job.
I LOOOOOOVE your tutorials! I keep posting your site to my FB page because I thing everyone should love it like I do! :) Just the other morning before going to work I made the chiffon flower with the little satin bud in the middle. .. and tucked it into my hair as I left. I work in the medical industry so your bits of fluff and fun just MAKE MY DAY!
I read on your blog that your goal is to inspire all of us. Well, since locating your blog (I now can’t remember how I stumbled upon it) I have been on a creative binge! You have charged those creative juices that have always run through my blood. I love everything you do. And I love how you make such beauty out of everyday, inexpensive things. Genius!
So cool! Is this something you did from your home? Will it be a continuing event….once a season….twice a year??????
your things are amazing! <3
Oh, what treasures! I simply love the silhouettes with initials print! I also have three little boys and I’d love to purchase three…will you be selling them online? Hope so!!
I LOVE this and wish we lived close enough to attend as I think I would want to purchase one of everything. The bench is killer. I wanted one of those for years. What fun. Let me know if you put on another one and maybe we’ll make a special trip.
I would like to know when you will be having another show. I would love to attend.
So is everything in your boutique for sale? How many times over the summer did you open? did you advertise? What hours did you run it for? I have a girlfriend who would be great at this. What state are you in and when is your next event?
Thanks and congrats – it IS beautiful, you are very talented!
I really like the dresser with the chalk board on the back. I think I will do that for my next project. Great idea!
I too and new and would like to know if you have a shop or boutique? I would like some information on location. Thank you
I am brand new to your blog site, but ABSOLUTELY love it! I am also a PNW girl (Steilacoom) and am in the process of remodeling our house on the sound. Do you have a shop that is regularly open that I can visit, or do you just hold this boutique occasionally? I would love to visit either. Thank you for doing what you do and I hope in the near future to visit and shop from you!!
How perfect! This post made me really excited because I’ve always dreamed of opening my own boutique, I’ve never thought about just having one in my garage! So wonderful!! Did you make a lot? How did you advertise?
Love the paint color as well – what is the brand/name?! My husband says no way regarding gray but I’m going to show him you’re beautiful boutique and I think he’ll change his mind!
Just viewed this post…love ALL of your stuff and will defnitely be duplicating some of them. PLEASE tell me the gray paint color in your boutique photos. I love it!
Love your shop and designs. Can I follow you on Twitter?
I hope you don’t mind, but I’m pretty sure that I need to copy EVERY SINGLE IDEA here, and put it into my own home! Hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? J’dore! :)
Oh it’s fun to see the pictures! I was sad to miss it. Everything’s beautiful! My favorite part is the little word cards – I can imagine a zillion purposes for them.
Genevieve
ps
That shorthand book looks VERY familiar. I was a real nerd in highschool and chose to study shorthand for a semester. I wish so terribly I had kept that funky little book. hm! ;-)
hi emily~ I see that my friends kris and katie came to this! I meant to come and the night of it ~ completely forgot. bummer. If you ever do this again please keep me on your list of invites. Thanks!
I. Die.
This is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. I would have bought a thousand things and then hid them from my husband and slowly brought them out one at a time so he didn’t notice.
Kudos for an adorable idea and color me green with envy!
Thats such a great idea….my garage is my workshop and project storage area. I would love to turn it into a showroom. I love so many of your items. I sent you a note earlier, now I know we have alot in common. I will be visiting your blog again and again, glad I subscribed. lol Have a Blessed Day! – Melanie
I just found your blog on “Life in the Fun Lane”

Lovely greetings from Germany…
So glad you didn’t edit! What an inspiring pictorial. Thanks for sharing!!
My sister and I are throwing a barn sale in about six weeks, which is a common occurrence in the midwest but here in Arizona I’ve never even seen one. Any tips or suggestions on how to make it as successful as yours?
Looking at the pictures of your event and remembering the whole atmosphere of the evening, I think you should add photography and staging homes to sell as other ways to share your talents with the world!
Everything is so beautiful. What a great idea. But please don’t say that shorthand is extinct. I’m trying to bring it back!
Wow. You are so talented and fun! I wish that you lived closer to Missouri – I would have loved to come to your boutique! I love your style and I will definitely be following your blog now!
Just found your site and I LOVE it!! I also love those chairs and gorgeous sofa!
I am about to die for those silver urn style table lamps! Where can I get them????
I came over from the Nester too! Your boutique was an amazing idea and it looks like you had a grand entrance ;) Wonderful too that you had the support of your loved ones.
Oh. My. Gosh. AH-mazing! Now I have stalked your entire blog and I am hooked. Your love affair with the pages of books and all the ways you manage to use them in your home…I couldn’t go to sleep last night because I was dreaming about how awesome my pages from a book wreath is going to be AND wondering if I could find room for more than one in my house!
I could say more but my one year old is demanding immediate attention. You ROCK!

So basically, I’d like to move into your garage on a semi-permanent basis. It’s pretty enough to live in! Everything looks gorgeous; if I didn’t live in Northern Canada I’d be all over it! LOVE everything!
