It was time to reorganize the kitchen shelves and pull out some Autumn accents. I feel like I’m a little behind fluffing my house for the season {I usually do this September 1st due to my absolute love of fall} but it is nice to at least have the kitchen reflect the current season.
I’m loving the added contrast of the brown and am happy to see those Spode dishes again!
***UPDATE***
Just to answer some questions:
The paint color for the top of the walls is Texas Leather by Benjamin Moore.
The little jack-o-lantern plate was a gift from my mom – probably from a store like TJ Maxx because she always finds the cutest things there {and I never do}. It says M Studios on the back in case you wanted to know.
The glass jars are an assortment from IKEA and Cash & Carry. They are what we organize our pantry with. Someday when I straighten it up, I’ll take some photos. It makes me happy.
The shelves are from IKEA. We sanded and painted them the color of the lower cabinets so that they would match. Love them. They are sturdy and simple and slightly industrial looking.
I really like having open shelves. Sure the things get dusty, but it isn’t so bad. Our everyday dishes and glassware are on the lower shelves which we use so often that they don’t have a chance to collect dust. The stuff on the top just needs to be wiped down before use. If you like the look of shelves and have dishware you like to see, I say go for open shelves!
Melissa at The Inspired Room shared about her open shelves here.
And I really love how this gal styles her’s:
Love the gray and white in the frame! What is that? Did you find it framed or did you put it together? It’s just what I’m looking for!
Well, your kitchen is simply scrumptious. I love, love, love it. Can I say thanks so much for sharing your life with us??!
I love your kitchen. I’m renovating mine in January. It’s so nerve wracking.
I need to learn how to mix the old with the new in a way that looks refreshing and still warm. You did that amazingly well.
Hi. I love your kitchen. I would love to rip out the upper cabinets in my tiny kitchen in favor of open shelving. So I am wondering if after you cook bacon, you have to wash ALL of your dishes or do they stay pretty clean??
Your kitchen is so pretty! Looks like the set for a Food Network show!! :)
I like the use of open shelves to house your dinnerware.
Can I ask where you found the round wall art (?) above your doorway in the 1st photo?
your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!! I love it!!!! THe color, the beadboard – just wonderful.

Awesome, I defiantly am going to add this picture to my inspiration notebook.
I just LOVE your kitchen!
My sister has that Spode collection and uses them as her everday-ware…also, I just saw those shelves at the bottom on A Country Farmhouse (I think that’s what it’s called). We like the same stuff. :)
It looks beautiful! We have the same faucet, I love it, it was worth the splurge many years ago….now I have some ‘ideas’ for my kitchen, which I’m not sure my husband is going to be happy about ;-)!!
Love the autumn updates. Where did you get the acorns that are in your vase?
Beautiful Autumn ideas, by the way! Love the colors combinations.
Fall is my absolute FAVORITE time of year!

I /LOVE/ your style!!! But I have to ask, with four small children, a business to run, and all the regular womanly duties, /how/ do you find the time and inspiration to keep up such a wonderfully clean, uncluttered, seasonally current, and inspiring lifestyle?! My responsibilities are much smaller than yours, and /I/ can’t seem to be able to keep my spaces/creations clean, beautiful, professional, and creative like I’d love to, and it seems you accomplish easily… Where does all your inspiration come from? Have you come up with your ‘style’ or do you take ideas from others?
Love your blog!

Beautiful! I am so ready to decorate for fall, but I just can’t bring myself to do it while our temps are still in the 90’s. Hopefully soon!
That kitchen is absolutely adorable…your skills are unbelieveable. Love it!
Cheers~

Emily, your home looks like something from the magazines…love it and all of your white in the kitchen…you are very talented!:)
Where did you find your salt/pepper set to the left of your stove? Love the black and white and also the size of them.
the salt and pepper shakers are from Potterybarn {about 1 1/2 years ago}. You could try finding them on ebay …
So pretty! I love the color of the walls. Could you share the color?
I just added the sources for a couple of things at the bottom of the post. The color of the walls is Texas Leather by BM. It is a great dark taupy brown.
I LOVE glass jars and would love to be able to put my flour/sugar/etc. in them…but…I had three little jars like yours in my bathroom and had white powdered bubble bath in one, an extra roll of toilet paper in another, and Q-Tips in the third. After a few weeks, I noticed the Q-Tip jar had a few small chips out of the rim, and the little glass chip flakes were in the jar. Obviously, my teenagers were a little too heavy-handed with the jar, but it made me realize I couldn’t have anything edible in my lovely jars since I’d always worry about glass chips. I noticed Paula Deen, Martha Stewart….they all have them too. Sad for me. =[
I love those cups- my bestfriend has the plates to match! She found them in a rental apt she was cleaning out- how could you leave those behind!? :)
Oh pretty! I love all the dishes too…the pumpkin one is very cute for the season:)
Gorgeous! This is what I’ve been working on all week! Fall is my favorite season!!
Beautiful kitchen!! Where did you find the clear canisters on the counter next to the fridge? I’ve seen the two larger ones at Target and Crate and Barrel, but have not seen the smaller two. And, they look to be all of the same design. Also, where did you find the sweet jack-o-lantern plate?? Love!
Very nice!
Lovely kitchen! Those Spode dishes are some of my favorites!!
LOVE your kitchen! Where did you get those Jack O Lantern plates? They are adorable!
Goodness, those open shelves are lovely! This is my first fall in our first home, so I’m scrabbling to figure it out. Thank you for more inspiration!

Love love love the updates. And glad to see I’m not the only one that consumes an obscene amount of almonds :)
Thanks for sharing! I’m with Meg, do your open kitchen shelves take a lot of cleaning maintenance? I have two playful dogs that seem to create a lot of flying fluff. Do you recommend doing open shelves? Would you do it again? We’re considering a kitchen remodel, so I’m just curious for your thoughts. Thank you!
I have kitchen envy…but I have to wonder…with shelves instead of upper cabinets, do you have to constantly wipe them?
Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing the picture for some inspiration.
Thanks for sharing Emily! I’ve always loved your kitchen and I think you’ve added the touches of fall in a great way. Have a fantastic first day of fall!!
Fun – I love the little fall additions. I need to get working on my fall spruce up.
Love it all! Are the jack-o-lantern plates spode also?
Love it! Love the plates!
