… we experienced it this weekend.
For as much as we Seattlites complain about rain {which, believe me, gets old really quickly}, we then have a few days like we’ve just enjoyed and remember why this is among the most glorious of all places to live. The mornings have been crisp and quiet, the afternoons full of bright sun and blue skies. The leaves are still in their early color-changing stages which means the trees are all shades of firey reds and golden yellows.
See mt rainier off in the distance? I was walking through the parking lot at my son’s soccer game, glanced up, and saw this. It was one of those moments where you are taken aback by the detail and beauty of nature.
It happened again, later that same day with this most amazing sunset.
This weekend happened to be my birthday and we were able to get away for the night with our very best friends and enjoy that spectacular view from our hotel room {Lake Washington, Seattle skyline, Olympic mountains}.
We dressed up, ate fancy food, laughed so hard and enjoyed grown up time without our kids {20 between all of us. Sometimes we need a break!}.
It was a bit of a dreamy weekend {minus the Seahawks loss} with sleeping in and eating out and weather we’ll try to remember when it has rained for 28 days straight come January.
If you’ve never visited the Seattle area, it’s truly worth seeing. Come in the summer or early fall for the best weather, or for a more authentic rainy-Seattle experience, any of the other 8 months of the year.
It was a gorgeous weekend, just beautiful! My boys had lots of soccer games and then we hung out by the water in West Seattle. I was born and raised here and will never live anywhere else. Although vacationing somewhere sunny every March or April would be nice too;)
It seems as if the stars aligned for you to have a perfect birthday. You have memories to carry you through the rainy days.
May I ask what the details are for your coats? They look great!
I’m a Seattleite too, it was the perfect weekend, love when the air is crisp, the leaves are golden, and the skies are blue!
Happy Birthday! My husband and I visited seattle way back when we were kidless! Loved it. Beautiful picture and very peaceful looking.
Happy birthday! Glad you had such a great weekend.
I dont think I will ever complain about rain. I love rain and we don’t get much rain here in Coastal LA. I used to live in Seattle from 91-95 and loving it. I still miss and love when rain comes I would stay inside and enjoy the reading more often. That is my kind of weather days. But I am SoCal native and my husband and I always love Seattle where we met and got married. That is great memories about Mt. Rainier where my Hubby and I used drive over there. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful pictures in Seattle!
Happy birthday! I have to ask where you ate fancy food or what your favorite dining locations are. We live in Spokane and spent the weekend in Seattle a couple weeks ago for my birthday (surprise from my husband). We always love visiting Seattle and I’m always researching where to get good food ;)
We ate at Daniel’s broiler in Bellevue. It is always great!
Very much like the perfect day fall in Vancouver. :) This weekend also happened to be the birthday of a very special friend of mine; he turned 100! Happy birthday to you and I hope you have a wonderful week.
You look beautiful!
How lovely!! Sounds like a heavenly way to celebrate your day.
best,
Heidi :)
Happy Birthday! It was a beautiful weekend, wasn’t it? We were in Ellensburg Sunday enjoying the warmth and picking pumpkins! I love Washington weather, west and east side :)
happy birthday, you classy lady, you!
Ssshhh… Don’t tell everyone how wonderful Seattle can be. ;). I lived there for nine years. It is a great place. Especially on sunny days when you can see the mountains. Glad you got to enjoy some nice weather on your birthday!
My husband travels to Seattle often for work, and loves it. One of these days I’ll get to tag along.
Looks beautiful.
We went to Seattle for the first time in late July/early August. Y’all were in a “no rain streak” and the weather was beyond beautiful!! I LOVE your city and would move into Ballard in a heartbeat (if I didn’t love Texas more 😊).
Un très Joyeux Anniversaire Emily!
Amicalement

A very Happy Birthday Emily

Gorgeous! (The leaves and the handsome couple!)
We were in Seattle a few weeks ago for 9 days. Out of nowhere, on day 7, Mt. Rainer appeared in the distance. Frankly, it was unsettling. If only I had had the pretty fall leaves to distract me. :)
I was JUST in Seattle for the SGK 3 day walk. Seattle is beautiful!!! It did rain on us the last day for about 10 miles but it was so worth the walk…beautiful scenery every turn of the corner. Also, Seattle-ians…are the nicest people! Happy Birthday!
You look beautiful! And your post makes me think that maybe I should give Seattle a second chance. :) So glad your birthday was so wonderful and relaxing! xoxo, Grace
I was lucky enough to live in Seattle for a couple of years, before I had kids. It is amazing, especially in the Summer when it doesn’t rain nearly as much. The rain definitely does get old, but the upside is the beautiful plants and lush green everywhere!
I got to go to Seattle with my husband in June and we LOVED it! It was so beautiful and everyone we met was incredibly friendly! We’re already talking about going back soon…
Happy belated birthday!
It was lovely here wasn’t it?? Happy birthday, Emily!
Your eyes are stunning! Happy birthday! :)
Seattle is on my list of places I would love to visit. We here in the south got a good dose of your rainy weather this summer (it rained for more than 30 days straight). Happy belated birthday. Looks like a fabulous weekend.
My husband and I just visited Seattle this summer ( we’re from London, Ontario ) and we LOVED it. Your waterfront is gorgeous and we were impressed with the city overall. The weather was perfect and we’d like to go back someday and take our kids with us! Very, very beautiful place you have to live!
Seattle is on our list of places to visit when we have flight benifits again. Montana is as far west as I’ve been (except Hawaii :-)). If we get to Seattle one day I’ll let you know and we can go have a Starbucks together.
