I really loved the way the nursery turned out :
: but it didn’t quite feel finished.
Granted, I still needed a chandelier and was looking for the perfect rug to fill in that gaping space on the floor. I loved it, but something about it bothered me.
So yesterday, in a spurt of sudden inspiration, I made some changes.
This room has strange dimensions with those poorly placed three little windows throwing the whole thing off. By moving the bed to the center of the room and placing the dresser under the windows, I think they make a little more sense.
I bought this sweet paper last weekend not really sure of where I’d put it:
But it has all sorts of sweet treats and my baby girl is pretty sweet, so seemed fitting to add it to her room.
And because of the touch of golden yellow in the print, I decided the room could use a little touch of golden yellow as well {in the form of a fabric bunched-up flower pinned to the pillow}
It works well with the gold frames, the wallpaper and old painted chair
I have been trying to decide how to put Audrey’s scripture verse over her crib. I wanted it to be it’s own piece of art {not directly painted on the wall}, but I also didn’t want it to be something heavy that could potentially fall on her in the middle of the night.
So I embroidered her verse in a piece of {what else?} IKEA curtain fabric and mounted it to foam core {with some upholstery tacks added for fun}. I think it does the trick.
Oh, husband, how I love you for hanging this chandelier.
with a little glittery bird clipped on.
So there’s the room as of today.
I think I like this version.
Is your rocker slip covered? I’ve searched everywhere for a white slipcover for my rocker and only found off-white, almost yellow. Any suggestions? I’m loving your blog- been following for just a few months but you’ve already instigated several recent crafts that turned out wonderfully. Thanks for the inspiration!
But how do you attach it to the wall…doesn’t it rip with harbor yellow over time since its not actually treated for walls?
Where is this wallpaper from? It looks like roses…is it?
It is gift wrap from caskata {peonies}

I have short windows too that I need to make roman’s for. How did you do it for such a short window? It looks like you only used 2 dowels, is that correct?
Mine are not even attached correctly :) Just folded fabric and then hooked onto the blinds on each window.
Where did you get the crib bedding!? Beautiful!
Is the nursery twin bed also painted rushing river? I’m getting ready to paint a dresser and want to make sure….I love everything about Audrey’s nursery! Every single detail is amazing!
The room looks beautiful and so sweet. The only thing I would caution you about are the tacks surrounding the Scripture verse. When Audrey starts standing up in her crib and reaching for things, I wouldn’t want to find a tack pulled out and popped in her mouth. My grandson pulled a silver piggy bank down from a ledge over his crib and nearly konked himself out.
I’d love to know about the blue striped pillow…I’m planning to use that EXACT fabric in my nursery! Did you buy the pillow or sew it from scratch?
Did you make the mobile?! I love it
I could see the alcove where the crib is, with two drapes (ceiling to floor) on either side, pulled back. Beautiful room. Love the ruffle on the window treatments! Love your blog.
I know this post is very old, but I’m also dying to know where you found the chandelier? Love the room, what a lucky little girl.
so sweet. love the details.
I love the idea of having a verse for each child over their bed. Do you have suggestions for other good “guide to life” verses?
What a beautiful and sophisticated room for a girl. I’m curious about how you applied the gift wrap to the wall. I know a lot of people asked for a tutorial on your original post about the bedroom. I searched the blog and didn’t find anything more about it. Are you keeping it your little secret, or did I just miss it somewhere?
I really love this nursery! You thought of everything in here. I love how it looks modern and vintage at the same time. So sweet. It seems like every little detail has meaning and i LOVE that.
I love the beautiful scripture embroidery you made. Is there any chance you could do a tutorial on it?
It’s so charming! Love it!
What a beautiful room! I love the embroidered verse over her crib. Zeph 3:17 is my daughter’s verse also!
I have a little Audrey too (actually, she’s almost 5). Her room is sadly lacking. Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement. I’ll have to think/dream about what we can do. :)
Wow. Everything about this room is just stunning.
I especially love the area shown in the last picture and the ring of flowers and verse above the cot.
Adorable.
Your daughter’ room so adorable. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Emily,
I just wanted to let you know that I found a striped rug just like this today at Big Lots for $9! I know they don’t sell it at Ikea anymore so go check it out~!
I will probably blog about it today.

Your attention to detail is amazing! Love, love, love this room!
Adore….everything about it! A nursery is my absolute favorite thing to decorate!!! Just precious! And I LOVE the scripture over her bed….beautiful!
gorgeous! great ideas!
Oh how I love the color! What is it?
This is such a great room. Can you Tell me if you hand embroidered the verse or if was done on a machine?
Can you tell us where you found Audrey’s crib bedding? It’s so elegant and beautiful. Most crib bedding is so juvenile and tacky.
The bedding was all {not so expertly} sewn by me. I used a combination of IKEA linen curtains, Potterybarn classic stripe and a quilting fabric called French Riviera.
BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love every little detail in this room! I’m intrigued and inspired! <3
i was wondering where you got the glass orb lamp that sits in the little table in the corner next to the white chair. it’s exactly what i have been looking for for my room. would love to know where you got it.
thanks,
mandy
Hello…this is my first visit to your blog….wow! So much God-given talent and what an inspiration you are! Thank you for taking the time to share with others….what a blessing!
so pretty!
I love your blogspot! My sister-in-law shared the link with me. I love seeing moms who are artistic and seem to still respect their home-base too! Thanks!
My favorite scripture verse!! What a beautiful room!! :)
This is one of the most beautiful nurseries I’ve ever seen. You found the perfect balance– it’s sophisticated but youthful, and girly but not overly so. Love it!
so so so pretty! such a sophisticated room for a little princess to grow into! I love it! and all the great details that I can tell you’ve collected/added over time… Precious!
A beautiful room from the tippy top chandelier to the stripped rug on the floor! Love it!
Where did you get that beautiful chandelier? Also, do you have a tutorial on how to embroider words? I can’t seem to figure it out!
Love Love Love the round ruffle/flower pillow. Did you make that? If so where is the tutorial, I love it and would love to know how to make one!
What a beautiful room! I love how all the colors come together perfectly. I am curious where you found fabric on the bumper/pillows, or what the name of the fabric is- love it!
Your nursery is giving me some great ideas as I begin the decorating process, so thanks! I really like the containers you have on the shelf under the changing table. Where did you find these?
Love so many things about this room …but the scripture verse is my fav!!
Love your decorating style–super cute nursery!
I discovered your blog today thanks to another friend’s blog. I love your style! I have 2 questions I hope you don’t mind answering.
1) The baby shoes on the table – were those professionally done, like bronzed baby shoes, or spray-painted, or what? Love them!
2) Where did you get the glittered bird on the chandelier?
Thanks for the inspiration!
I just have to say I love your designs. Very simple but elegant! I wanted to know how you made the crown above the crib? And you mentioned that the crib sheet was just 1 yard of fabric, how does it say put? I’m artistic but not when it comes to sewing or hot glue gunning lol. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Em, you are truly talented. I hope this gift takes you to wonderful places. Lucky little Audrey:)
Are those magnolia type blooms fake? If so, where did you get them?
Love it all.
I love it! Where did you get (or did you make) that pink pillow?
Adorable! I am so inspired looking at your blog! I can’t even stop it’s so amazing. =]
Thanks!
Marguerite
Love the redesign of the room! Great job!
Kelly
Oh, how precious it looks! I love it!
Suzanne
I came over from Nesting Place, and love your design style! This is such a great room!
I’m in love with this little room, especially the colors! Do you remember the exact paint colors you used on the walls and the headboard/footboard? If you are like me you will be like “I don’t know, blue-ish?” but maybe you are more organized than me and you kept the paint sample. =) I’m ready to paint my little girl’s room and I’d love to swipe those colors from you. And, what a great verse over her crib!
WOW! I am so in love with your decorating!!! I wish so badly I had the same eye for it. I just recently “stumbled” across your page when I got addicted to craft blogs. It has quickly turned into one of my faves, in fact the first time I looked at it my sister was over and I said you have GOT to look at this blog I LOVE the way she just posts things that she likes…it’s great inspiration. On top of that I clicked back over here tonight to fall upon this post. I was so moved by your reasoning behind “twirl”. I take joy in knowing that my Heavenly Father takes the time to speak to each of us, and in your case in such an inspirational way. I am a young mom of two, 1 boy and 1 girl, and will forever remember this when my 2 1/2 year old daughter is dancing around my living room. Just wanted to give you props! Love the site, and love your blogging!!!
Rachel
I absolutely adore your nursery! I loved it before but the subtle changes you made really does bring it all together. My husband and I are expecting our first baby this January and your nursery has been one of my greatest inspirations!
Your talent is amazing, I love every nook and cranny that you have pulled together! Your ideas are just fabulous! I wish my brain had a chic button! So glad I found your blog! I am not a follower!
I love the floral candelabra (I think) hanging over the crib, where did you get it? Also, the pink pillow on the chair, did you make it or buy it? Love!!!
Was wondering if you have shared anywhere what the paint color in this room is? So, so pretty…all of it!
Amazing and gorgeous! wow, is all I can say. I love all of the fabrics and colors. What is the fabric you used on the bed pillow, the one with the gold/yellow color in it? so lovely!
Great work, just added your blog to my blogroll. I’ve been here before, been then lost you…no longer. :)
Janell
This is a BEAUTIFUL nursery. I love the calming, peaceful feel. I particularly love the embroidered scripture verse… too sweet. Great job!
I’ve just found your blog from centsational girl, taking pot luck on the links of where people blog, well I’m so glad I picked yours! Your blog is inspirational and your creations and style are just beautiful. I’ve already added my email address to your early bird link for your new workshop, which sounds just like what I need. Your blog has been iPhone bookmarked, which means I get to check in regularly! Thank you for the inspiration and enthuisiasm that I’d somehow lost!
Hugs, Gemma (from the UK)
Oh, what a sweet room!
I have that same glittery bird and I’m now looking for a place to clip him!
I love all of the changes you made to the room. It looks for warm and inviting. I especially love the lamp, it is perfect for a kid’s room.
I love this post too much that I had to share it! I love it! Thanks for sharing!
I love the embroidered verse you made! And I love that it’s her special verse. I can hardly wait to do something similar in my sons’ room! Thank you so much for sharing.
I adore decor but have really been longing to find some faith-inspired bloggers to add to my reading list. It seems that the Lord provided me with just what I was looking for by way of your lovely blog. I adore the design in your home and it was perfect to see the cross-stitched verse above baby Audrey’s crib. I was just wondering this morning (in church mind you, when I should have been listening to the sermon on Barnabas — oh my!)… about how I could go about adding scripture into our home tastefully, pleasing to the eye and without it seeming too forced by my rather un-artistic hands. Cross-stitch is such a great way to do so… Thank you for the idea!!
I had been blogging professionally at The Finer Things, http://blog.finestationery.com, but recently resigned to spend some time with our newest addition, baby Cecilia. I’ve since started my own blog just for fun, and it was very encouraging to see how you manage being a momma without neglecting your creative side and talents.
Lots of random thoughts, but just wanted to say great work and I’m glad I found your blog :-)
Gorgeous! Loved Audrey’s room before and I love all your new changes! Your talent is never ending!
The room is just darling! Can you share the details for the patterned fabric used on the crib bedding. I love it.
I always love to look at Baby Audrey’s room! The sweet eats print…suh-weet… :o)
um adorably precious!!!! SO amazing! What a perfect little retreat!! LOVE it!!
I LOVE that chandelier! the little glitter bird is divine!
What a dreamy place for a lovely little girl! It’s simply beautiful in so many ways. Wow!!
cute room! love your blog….so inspiring! i’m curious to know how you made the flower that is on the pillow? so cute!
You are so gifted and creative! Thanks you for your transparency and candor. A’s scripture verse is the same as our first born (4yo) son … such a delight! Keep up the amazing work. I’m totally inspired to get to a couple of projects once the fall sets in. (a friend of Greg & Kristen’s)
all the little things are so beautiful. i love that you have a scripture for her!
I am LOVING your style!!!! I have somewhat of the same issue in our new house….WINDOWS!!!! :) I’ll post some pics soon…maybe you can help me figure out how to arrange..I am nervous to put the bed in front of the window, but yours looks awesome! Maybe I will give it a try!! Thanks for posting this!
Ok. You are my favorite. Amazing job on the nursery. Mom of four and classy, talented, elegant, purposeful, godly, crafty, and clever. I could go on. I’ve fallen head over heels for your blog and am your newest follower.
Thank you for the inspiration.
I would have doubted that it could be any better or more beautiful than it was…but I love the tweaking. Since moving I haven’t changed much about my oldest’s room, but I suddenly had ideas swimming about in my mind the last couple days. Guess what furniture got moved around before nap time? Thank you.
Her room really looks finished now. It is beautiful, so perfect for a baby girl but not at all “babyish”. I seem to be in good company, because that is also one of my favorite Scriptures. Thanks for sharing!
This is my first time visiting your blog and I love how you’ve decorated your home! Would you mind sharing where the striped rug is from?
The room turned out just lovely. I knew as soon as I saw the first pic that the bed needed to be moved and you did it just right.
This nursery is just so sweet. You are very talented!
i loved it before, but now it is PERFECT! love it! what a lucky little girl :)
just found your blog and to say that I’m blown away is to say nothing. absolutely amazing. now I’m going to spend the next week reading every single entry :)
can you share where the chandy is from?
love the bed change, looks lighter in that side of the room! all around just a gorgeous room, so glad to see you being featured – you are a superstar with an awesome last name : )
Audrey’s nursery is absolutely beautiful ~ well done! I love how you have done her verse, it’s very personal.
I will be praying for you while you (and wonderful husband) put together the workshop. God is doing an incredible work in you!
amazing! I love all of the little touches that make is Audrey’s room & make it personal. It’s peaceful & whimsy…
That room is just beautiful to behold! It looks so much bigger after you moved things around. What an inspiration and blessing you are! Thanks for sharing…looking forward to your workshop : )
Oh my, Emily! I loved the room before, but the changes you made are amazing. Well done!!!
Enchanting!!!
Oh I LOVE the dimensions now! It’s layered..like a great outfit! And it seems like every time that I look at a picture,I notice something new. Well done….once again. :P
Sometimes you need to live in a room to know how it will function best and what is most pleasing to the eye. I agree: Bed next to crib looked duplicative. Now the bed across from framed heirlooms gives you a chance to really see them. Chair in corner=cozy. Windows look better with the height under them. LOVE the chandelier and of course that little glittery bird is a lovely bit of sweet whimsy. You might be tempted to stay in that room all day but nurseries should be tranquil retreats……both for mama & baby.
Your little girl’s room is absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful place for her to grow!
I love her scripture verse, it’s my ‘life’ verse b/c my birthday is 3/17. I remember the very first time I heard it,it made me weep. I had never thought of God singing over me! It made me realize what an intimate relationship He wants with me.
OK, sorry for the ‘preaching’. I just love how He likes to surprise us sometimes.
I love your beautiful sense of style! I’m so jealous! What a lucky family to have such a talented mommy!
This room is STUNNING! I adore it and would live in it myself, crib or no crib! You have a beautiful gift for decorating and I truly admire your gift for combining different “styles” of pieces. So inspiring.
Since I’m new to your blog I’m not sure if you’ve covered this already but I’d love to see your boys rooms. Since I’ve had girls and now just had a boy (he’s probably similar in age to your girlie!) I’d love some ideas on how to create a big boy space that’s not bright colors and crazy characters.
LOVE it!!! It is sooo beautiful!
I loved it before, and love it even more now with the updates & changes. Funny how moving furniture around can make such a difference. It’s ALMOST as adorable as your little Audrey! ;)
That is a simply delicious room! Any little girl would be blessed to have a room like that. Beautiful!
Can you come redesign my daughter’s nursery ? ;) Beautiful! My favorite verse as well. Thanks for sharing!
You are awesome! I love this new version. It feels really balanced. Your eye for the little details and whimsy is truly inspired. Makes me smile. And reading Audrey’s verse made me tear up. Oh how he loves our little ones and takes great delight in them! As a mom, I have to hang onto that or my fears and lack of control over their safety would be too much to bear.
First time commenter – long time stalker here. I am completely in love with this beautiful room! So many ideas and so much inspiration. Love, love, love!
Cute, cute, cute blog! Love this nursery.
Her nursery is soo cute! Love it!
I so adore her nursery. I think I want to BE Audrey and have that be my room.
The way you did the verse above her crib is absolutely beautiful. It has totally inspired me for my littlest’s room.
I love this nursery! So beautiful and almost has a grown-up feel to it. I’ll be featuring it on my blog sometime next month. :)
I just found you today via Brooklyn Limestone. What a GORGEOUS nursery. And that verse is one of my favorites. What a wonderful promise from the Lord!
Happy Friday!!
Love it! It’s beautiful and much more “finished.” I might have to steal the verse…I’ve been looking for the perfect one for my little girls’room.
Love the changes and how sweet and romantic the room is….perfect for a little girl! Thanks for sharing!
such a sweet room!
I saw all the pics on 6th street and thought I’d check out your blog. You are very talented! I like all that I saw!!!
What a darling nursery. I love that it doesn’t ‘look’ like a nursery because you didn’t use the typical nursery colors. So much inspiration in that room.
I totally LOVE this room!
Great job!
Thank you for sharing:)
Lovely greetings…
This room is just so beautiful! I love everything about it, and I think it is just the perfect space for a little girl to grow. And that is my very favorite, and own special scripture verse so that makes it all the better for me:)
love it! -denise
