We hosted a birthday brunch for our baby girl this weekend.
I went with blues, gray, white and lots of flowers – just like her nursery and apparently my favorite combination of colors right now. Her invitations set the tone and it was fun to carry out the peony and striped papers into other parts of the decorations.
We had our family and a few friends for a nice little party to celebrate the big girl.
Straw flags with kids’ names {straws from Bake it Pretty}
Yummy brunch food: a few of my favorite pastries {granny horns, cranberry orange scones, Top Pot doughnuts}, lots of fresh fruit and a fancy egg dish made by Audrey’s adoring papa.
For the kids, I made simple favor bags filled with yogurt covered pretzels.
And the grown-ups received monogram note cards.
Audrey’s big brothers wanted to help out with decorations, so they made this sign which I just love.
It’s the birthday girl!
{notice No. 3 kindly helping his sister blow out the candle}
She wasn’t too sure what to do with this big pile of sugar, but after her biggest brother gave her a taste, she was hooked.
What a fun day for our special girl.
{Party hat and favor bag tutorials are coming this week : stay tuned!}
The invitations are just beautiful and creative. I love the hats, too and the photo collage. Beautiful! She will feel loved when she looks back at all those memories.
I am in *love* with your invitations! Gorgeous!
What a cutie as the center of attention, and what great party ideas. The orange cranberry scones have my mouth watering. Got an easy recipe? Looks like everyone had a great time.
I just found your website via my sis in law and I love everything about your style :-) It’s so “me” hehe. Thanks for all your tips and inspiration!
The picture of you cleaning her up after the cake is priceless! I’ve never thought to take that pic, but I’ll try next time. Sometimes I find it’s those truly candid moments that trigger the best memories.
Isn’t it fun t0 be able to whip up some personalized note cards as a favor? I love that (and so do the guests who go home with them)! What a fun day for your family.
Blessings,
Linsey
Just found your site- you have some really great design ideas, I am excited to read more. thanks!
I love all of the details you put into this party! So elegant! I especially love the last picture of Audrey with frosting on her face… such a special treasure! :-)
The party looks gorgeous! She is a very lucky one year old :)
Hi! I work with your cousin Jen and we talk about you all the time — mostly how fantastic of a mother/creative person you are! Love seeing how you make motherhood and style coexist. Jen said that Audrey was adorable with the icing. Love the blog.
Love the birthday party – how perfect and everything looks so pretty and delicious.
What a beautiful, special event! I can’t wait for the party hat tutorial. Where did you find the favor bags?
Fun! Precious photos!
What a beautiful first birthday party. You have such great ideas and I love them all. Your baby is so cute!
Adorable! Love that sweet little “frosting face!” That has to be the most beautifully decorated first birthday party I’ve seen. :)
Just beautiful, Emily! My favorite part is the birthday sign from her brothers :) Thank you for linking to your straws, I have been looking for something just like those for Wynn’s party in March. She is so beautiful!
Love the colors you chose Emily. Those hats are amazing. I am going to try and get my daughter’s friends to wear them at her next birthday dinner. Is 22 too old for birthday hats? I actually think they might like these!
Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh I enjoyed our view of the bday party. Sweetness. Luv her shirt, btw.
Emily, did you also print the flower pattern onto the cardstock for the invitations? Please, do a tutorial on that! Loved those invitations so much!

What a WONDERFUL party. She is going to love looking at all the pretty pictures when she gets older. I also noticed the skinny jeans…I think you’ve been converted to a “skinny jean lovin’ girl.” They just suck you in after the first couple of “trial” wears. :)
Your so creative i love these ideas…where did you get your bag idea?
Looks like it was a great party, filled with fantastic memories!

Are the flag name tags scrapbook paper?
I created the pattern and then printed it on cardstock. I’ll do a quick tutorial on those as well.
Awesome! I look forward to all the upcoming tuts ;o)
