My childhood best friend posted this to instagram yesterday:
It made me laugh out loud.
The kids and I just had a conversation the other day about when we will start listening to Christmas music. One said we should start today, another said wait until Thanksgiving. I fall somewhere in between. I’m not quite ready to jump into Christmas with both feet, but I can feel the holiday cheer coming on and you can bet that within the next few weeks, we’ll be singing along to Bing Crosby and watching Hallmark Christmas movies on repeat.
While I don’t want to just skip over the rest of fall and forget about Thanksgiving, I do like to do a few things during the month of November to ease into Christmas and extend that holiday magic as long as possible. Here’s my list:
+ We start drinking eggnog on November 1st. I’ve seen it in grocery stores for the past couple of weeks and have resisted until a few days ago. It has been waiting patiently in our fridge for the official opening. (Here’s how I make my homemade eggnog lattes. Yum.)
+ A festive front door wreath will go up in place of the tired fall porch decorations (mums and carved pumpkins only last so long). I would love to add a couple of mini potted evergreen trees this year as well.
+ If there is a break in the rain a week or two before Thanksgiving, we’ll start hanging Christmas lights. It gets so dark here that the cheerful glow of white twinkly lights makes me extra happy and I figure we might as well enjoy them for as long as possible.
+ I swap our regular hand and dish soap out with the beloved Mrs. Meyer’s holiday scents.
Iowa Pine is my absolute favorite, but I also like the other two options: Peppermint and Orange Clove.
Iowa Pine smells like fresh cut christmas trees. Peppermint smells like candy canes. And orange clove has that spicy-citrus scent like those clove encrusted oranges that I’ve always wanted to make.
All three smell amazing AND they work well at cleaning up in the kitchen and bathroom this time of year. Plus, I like the packaging and that makes me feel happy to leave them out.
GREAT NEWS: it’s the annual Holiday Mrs. Meyer’s deal and you can get a set for FREE!
I joined Grove two years ago (so I could get in on this free soap deal!) and love everything about it. I get all our regular household cleaners, sponges (they’re neutral!), dish scrubbers (my fave!), shampoo, face wash, toothpaste, and household cleaner each month from Grove. The prices are often less than what I’d pay in a store, I appreciate the simplicity of ordering online and the gift of free shipping is a big bonus.
Right now, when you sign up for Grove, you can get free Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap, dish soap and multi-surface spray in your choice of holiday scent, plus a free set of Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges — all packed up in a limited edition red cleaning caddy for gifting (or keeping!).
New customers will get the holiday set when you place your first order of $20:
- Free Mrs. Meyer’s holiday hand soap
- Free Mrs. Meyer’s holiday dish soap
- Free Mrs. Meyer’s holiday multi-surface spray
- Grove Collaborative red caddy
- Grove Collaborative walnut scrubber sponges
Plus, if you spend $39, you’ll also receive a free stoneware tray to display your new holiday soaps.
If you are an existing Grove customer, you get a little holiday gift, too! You’ll receive a set of my favorite neutral scrubber sponges for free when you CLICK HERE.
Let’s talk about that little red caddy for a second. First, it comes free with your holiday set, so that’s amazing. Second, you could use it around the house to store your cleaning supplies, but it also makes a handy gift wrapping station for corraling ribbon, tape, scissors and tags. I think that’s what I’ll use mine for this year.
Want to give Grove Collaborative a try?
When you click over to Grove, you’ll be asked a few questions and your cart will auto-fill with $20 worth of products. Go ahead and take their suggestions or browse your favorite brands or household items and choose your own (I highly suggest the wood-handled bubble up brush).
To receive the FREE Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap, dish soap, multi-surface spray, sponges and caddy (valued at over $30), your order needs to be a minimum of $20, but I’ll guarantee you’ll have no trouble finding $20 worth of very practical items you’d be buying in a store anyway.
I hope you find Grove to be a helpful service that saves you time, money and keeps you happy when you’re doing daily household things like dishes and laundry and brushing your teeth. And also, that these soaps help you ease into Christmas spirit.
